Sweet book that will fit well with our growing children’s book collection. Great illustrations and accessible writing. A nice addition to this series

I know these books are aimed at children but I love reading them just as much, I never got to learn about half of the people that I have done through the Little People, Big Dreams collection and I just love that now children are getting to learn about normal people who are actually big heroines and hero's from everyday walks of life.

Olivia Morris has a completely interesting story, she stood up for people and never seemed to be in the least bit less courageous, after witnessing a case of police brutality through discrimination and abuse in the black community, Olivia stood up for what she believed in immersing herself with other like minded groups and individuals to fight this injustice. She also stood up for and protected the Africian and Asian women.

She is an important part of history and her story should go on living through literature for the next generation, it's so important that young minds learn of this and don't allow injustices to slip through the cracks and be heard instead! I love that these stories are being highlighted me an my children!

I had no idea who Olive Morris was before I picked up this story. What a story she has, this really is a fascinating story with quirky illustrations.

Hello, Olive Morris, a person whom I just heard about. But this super woman does inspiring me with her motivation and her courage to get colored people to be recognized in the UK. It was not easy, but Olive proofed that this way is doable. Again, I am thankful to the author for bringing Miss Morris to life in her book.

Olive Morris was a child when she moved from the countryside in Jamaica, living with her grandparents, to the busy streets of London in Britain, to live with her parents. She soon realised just how tough and hard life was growing up in Britain during the 1970s. When she watched a black diplomat from Nigeria get arrested and beaten because he was suspected of stealing the nice car he was driving, she was incensed. When she spoke up to the police beating the man and she was also arrested and beaten. Olive was only seventeen at the time, and her life changed forever. Olive became a leader within the Black British community, fighting against any kind of abuse and speaking up about racism. She spent the rest of her life fighting for the rights of others and was instrumental in changing the attitudes and treatment of the people within the Black British Community. My grandson and I got into quite a discussion of racism in our own country and although he hasn't seen a lot of it, he had certainly heard of news reports and big stories such as George Floyd, Brionna Taylor, and Trayvon Martin. I did not know about Olive Morris, but we now know that even young people can make a difference in the world when you fight injustice. This book contained all the things we like about this series: short text with important points, quirky illustrations that add interest, and a timeline with photos at the back. Another great addition to this series.

I hadn’t heard of olive Morris before reading this. I’m glad I did. She did a lot of good things. The illustrations as always were wonderful.

This is the story of Olive Morris, the social justice activist and campaigner. Olive grew up in Jamaica, but moved to London when she was little. She soon realized how unfair life can be when she witnessed police brutality towards a black man, and then was arrested for protesting it. This informed her life and she became a very vocal member of black British community speaking up about racism and abuse.

I enjoy this series and learning about new people that I’ve never heard of like Olive Morris. It’s sad that her life ended when she was so young. The illustrations are bright and colorful.

What a fascinating children's book! A great addition to the series. I wasn't familiar with Olive Morris prior to this book, but she lead a brave and bold life. This can help educate young readers about social justice and why people protest.

Olive Morris by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara was a beautifully written and illustrated book by the famous and best selling Little People, BIG DREAMS series. These book are so good from start to finish and a must for our small children.

Olivie Morris has proven that you are never too young to fight for what is right. She did so much for her community and attended university to gain education to do so much more.

Sadly, her life was ended very young, but her name and spirit will live on as it should.

A beautifully illustrated and written retelling of Olive Morris' life of advocacy.

Olive Morris is only 9 years old when she moves to England and begins to experience racism in her community, by 17 she witnesses the wrongful arrest of a black man in her community, to which she stands up and is brutaly assaulted by police officers for. After this horrific experience, Olive dedicates her life to the advocacy for better lives for people of color, she attends rallies, joins the "British Black Panthers" group to help in ending discrimination and police vilence agains people of color.

This book will be sure to inspire allyship amongst young children and adults. It is very beautifully illustrated, and informative. Having not known Olive Morris' story prior to my read through of this book, I felt I ended it learning so much about her life in a short amount of time, while inspired to research and learn more about her. The end of the book also includes a timeline of Olive Morris' life with a more in depth description of her experience as a black woman advocating for the rights for people of color and the creation of "Brixton's Black Women's Group". Her story is one that will continue to have a lasting impact on women's activism and the rights of black people. I highly recommend this book for both children and adults.

Another great addition to the Little People Big Dreams collection! I hadn't previously heard of Olive Morris, so I enjoyed learning about their life and activism. The pictures were vibrant and complimented the story beautifully. Olive Morris was a great person to cover for this series- especially as her life was cut so short- and I have no doubt her story will inspire many young readers. I definitely recommend giving this title a go!

I can’t believe this book is the first I’ve heard about Olive Morris.

The work she did for women’s activism and the Black Freedom Movement is still a reminder to always speak up! A strong woman who deserves to be known by more people, not only for her work for black rights but women’s rights and more.

Olive Morris and her life on the 1970’s isn’t something that is taught in schools and is sometimes looked pasted. Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara uses this series to find a way to uncover and provide child-friendly mini biography books of people that are relatable to us. That has attempted to pave the way for not only their lives but their community, and everyone around them. While reading this with your child you are also learning about new amazing people that have often been pushed to one side and forgotten about or not been given the acknowledgment they deserve.

I'm ashamed that this book is the first time I've heard about Olive Morris, and gut-punched to learn about her early death. This book is a great introduction (for any age!) to her life and work and I'm glad she's included in this series.

This is a wonderful children's book from the Little People, Big Dreams series, which is an amazing, educational series of books, focusing on inspirational people in the world.

This book focuses on Olive Morris, who was an African woman who moved to England when she was young, and who became a political activist and community leader. She inspired many people to stand up for their rights. Sadly, she died from cancer when she was only 27 years old.

I found this book interesting, and I enjoyed looking at the illustrations in the book, as well as the informative text sections and photographs at the end of the book.

Before this book, I hadn't heard about Olive Morris.
I didn’t know who she was, where she lived or what she had done.

Olive Morris grew up as a normal kid but things changed when she witnessed a case of police brutality regarding the black community, which reflected discrimination and abuse.

She fought against this injustice by joining forces with similar minded individuals.
She even fought for African and Asian women.
She saw how much brutality and discrimination was going on in her community, and wanted to fight and do something about it.

Reading this to my mixed daughter raised some questions...

How can she help fight police brutality?
How can she have a voice in this world?

I have enjoyed all the books in this series. What I especially liked about this one is that it was a person I had never heard of. I know it is a British series, but it is still fun to learn about new people. The biography in the back of the book expands on the details nicely.
