Fairly predictable rom com but it was still a good read that I enjoyed it. It was also a quick read.

Clearly someone has it out for Deputy Ava Lawson when she finds female victims wearing masks of her face. Which makes it all the more dire to find the person being that she is pregnant. Harley is the baby's father and is a Texas Ranger who is assigned to helping Ava find the person behind us. Being that her family is well connected and seems to be hiding a secret or two they got to figure out who is behind this.

I really enjoyed this book and getting to know the characters there was just so much going on. I really liked seeing how they were trying to solve what was going on and that there were a few close calls that would keep the readers on the edge of their seat wondering who was behind this and why. It was interesting seeing how the person was trying to throw Ava and Harley off their case and how they were plenty of people to maybe blame so it was interesting seeing how they follow those trails. Overall I really love a good mystery suspense novels and this was a pretty quick read and I really enjoyed it.

Non-stop action and suspense in Delores Fossen's latest second generation book in the Silver Creek Lawman series. Deputy Ava is pregnant with Harley, A Texas Ranger's baby, when they're assigned to a serial killers case. Can they put aside their differences to solve the mystery? Can she keep her son, given up for adoption 20 years ago and her unborn daughter safe from a deranged serial killer hell bent on destroying her?

You'll want to read this one. Although part of a series, this can be read as a standalone book. I received a free ARC but all thoughts and opinions are mine.

Terrific book that pulled me in from the first page and kept me hooked to the end. A serial killer is loose in Silver Creek, and it looks like Deputy Ava Lawson has an unknown link to them.

The Silver Creek Sheriff's Department is working hard to identify a killer. The case is especially creepy because the female victims are all found wearing masks with Ava's face. The mayor isn't happy with the lack of progress and calls in a Texas Ranger to assist. That Ranger is Harley Ryland, who happens to be Ava's ex-boyfriend and the father of her unborn child.

Ava parted ways with Harley over a disagreement about her politician father's illegal activities about the same time she discovered she was pregnant. She is adamant that they are done as a couple but will still co-parent their child. But as they work together to solve the case, it becomes increasingly obvious that they still have feelings for each other. Harley must carefully balance his protectiveness with respect for Ava's abilities while not pushing too hard to resume their relationship. Ava must realize that leaning on him for support doesn't make her weak. I loved the ending and how they saw that they belonged together.

The suspense of the story was excellent. The author has a formula that works well, and this book was no exception. As they delve into the investigation, secrets from Ava's past that may be connected to the murders are revealed. Ava and Harley identify several suspects, each with motive and means. There were twists and turns and intensifying danger as they came closer to identifying the killer. The final confrontation was a nail-biter, and I was glued to the pages as it played out. The resolution was well done.

There were some intriguing family dynamics in this book. I understood why Ava distances herself from her father. Besides his questionable ethics, she has a long-standing grudge against him for something that happened when she was a teenager. One of the twists in the story turns out to be a good one, and I enjoyed seeing how it played out at the end. I also liked seeing more of the Rylands. Grayson makes a brief appearance, and seeing him remind Harley to visit his parents was amusing.

Marked for Revenge is book 4 in the Silver Creek Lawmen: Second Generation by Dolores Fossen. 4.5 stars

It will written book that draws you in from the beginning, and keeps reading until the last page!

Ava, a sheriffs deputy in Silver Creek and Harley a Texas Ranger were involved, but she broke it off months ago, he is also the father of her unborn child and those feelings for each other have not diminished when they see each other again. Harley is asked to work with the Silver Creek sheriffs department and especially with Ava to identify a killer who is using Ava‘s face as a cover on all the victims.

What happens next is a suspenseful read, sparks abound, push, pull, twists, turns, possibly more than one suspect, danger, and more…

This was a serial killer mystery that kept me on my toes. So many threads that I wasn’t sure which way things would go. I loved the intricacies and interconnectedness of it all. I’ve read one of the previous books in this series but this book is great as a stand-alone. There is a steamy scene.

This book is full of action, suspense, drama and emotions. I loved it until I got to chapter 13, that chapter added nothing to the story and I almost stopped reading it. I did finish it and it would have been a 5 star read if that chapter wasn't in it.
I received a complimentary copy from HARLEQUIN via NetGalley and was not required to write a review. All opinions expressed are my own.

Marked for Revenge by Delores Fossen, book four in the Silver Creek Lawmen: Second Generation series, is an edge of your seat, wild, suspenseful ride from start to finish. There's plenty of action, suspense, a serial killer mystery, and a second chance romance to enjoy. Ava, a pregnant deputy in Silver Creek, is being targeted, but she doesn't know why. Someone is killing women and taunting her with their deaths. Harley Ryland is the father of Ava's baby and would like to be more Ava broke up with him, after he investigated her politician father; just as she discovered she was pregnant. Months later, it appears she's being targeted by a serial killer, and despite being a skilled police officer herself, her Texas Ranger ex and baby daddy is going to stay right by her side until she's no longer in danger; as Harley might be the only thing that can keep Ava and his baby girl safe.

The large cast of characters in this series, and book, is exclusive and interesting. These characters pique your interest, making it so you want to know more about them as you try to deduce who is behind the mystery. Many of the suspects who could be after Ava, but it's up to Harley to figure it out before their killer does more than mark Ava for revenge.

Ms. Fossen did an excellent job keeping her readers on their toes, including red herrings, but I did figure out who the killer was early on. I loved Harley’s protectiveness toward Ava and their baby girl. I highly recommend Marked for Revenge to other readers, especially those who love romantic suspense or crime dramas.

This book held my interest for the most part. It was repetitive in a lot of places. That is why I only gave it three stars.

Action packed romance thriller that grabs you from page one. Glad that in that beginning is a list of characters, since this is a series and I hadn’t read the previous books I wasn’t confused or lost with the storyline. Not sure if the characters were in the other books but I thought easily could be a standalone. Ava a deputy in Silver Creek and is partner up with a Texas Ranger who happens to be her ex lover and father of the baby she is expecting. As they work together to solve the identity of a serial killer that seems to be somehow tied to Ava. They realize that they still care for each other.
Lots of twists and turns to discover who the killer is and why. Also second chance love that is just a small part of the story. Glad the focus was the murder mystery. Seemed a little predictable who the villain was, but a page turner none the less. Thank you NetGalley for this eARC. I am voluntarily posting an honest review after reading an Advance Reader Copy of this story. #NetGalley #MarkedforRevenge

I received an arc from NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.
Lots of mystery is entangled in this romantic suspense. The twists and turns the serial killer throws at Harley and Ava are making them run for cover.
Harley and Ava have an opportunity at a second chance but Ava thinks Harley betrayed her because of something her Senator father told her. Even though she feels betrayed she can’t deny her feelings for Harley.
As they get closer to revealing the killer will Ava and her baby make it out alive for them to continue their relationship? Great read!

The suspense was perfect, light on the romance. Ava and Harley were going to just co-parent, until the murders started and Harley got assigned to help Ava with the investigation. I liked the mystery of who the killer was but wanted more of Ava and Harley’s relationship.

Ava Lawson is pregnant, and Harley a Texas Ranger is the father. They are no longer a couple. Someone is killing women and putting Ava's face on the victims' face. Theo and Ava are working the three cases and Harley is called in by the mayor to assist. Ava's father is a senator and tries to manipulate his daughter's life. Ava has a twenty-year-old son her father forced her to give up for adoption. Aaron is the boys father and he has not lived a good life since her father ran him out of town.
Not sure who is doing all the killing since it seems everyone is a suspect. Great suspense romance.

Solid serial killer mystery with a second chance romance

Like the first book in this series, Targeted in Silver Creek, our couple is already coupled up and pregnant before the story even starts. Harley and Ava broke up after he investigated her politician father, and just as she discovered she was pregnant. Now, months later, it appears she's being targeted by a serial killer, and despite being a skilled police officer herself, her Texas Ranger ex and baby daddy is going to stay right by her side until she's no longer in danger.

Due to the author's usual "cast of characters" listing at the beginning of the book, I immediately had my suspicions of who the killer was, and before I was even 1/4 of the way through the book, enough clues had already dropped that I knew I was right. So if you're expecting a suspenseful whodunit, this one will leave you wanting. I wasn't even convinced of the killer's motives, even by the end once it's all explained, but I suppose since killers are almost always insane on some level -and this one is beyond creepy - the delusional motivation makes some sense.

Still, the action is top-notch and the romance was everything it could be. I was taken by surprise a few times by the sudden turn in events and was kept guessing as to how the other characters were involved. The HEA wasn't as fleshed out as I'd prefer, but it's clear that Harley and Ava will remain together. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
