This children’s book can be used as a helpful coping mechanism for children ages 3-7 that have gone through an emotional event. Audrey Sampson writes this book in such a way that the participating child can identify basic feelings and work through them. It should be noted that this is a Christian book so the suggested healing path uses Christian principles.

The storyline first asks questions to help identify feelings with incidents. Those that make them feel bad, sad or “make you mad”. The rest of the 33 page book introduces the following points to help in working through and processing the emotions in an easy-to-read format:

-Possible reactions to the feelings
-Everyone has big feelings
-Introduces Jesus who loves them
-He can help with the feelings
-How do you know if you have big feelings?
-Feelings caused by grief, anger or heartache
-When you have big feelings you might want to…
-Jesus is there with you
-What can you do with your big feelings?
Squeeze play dough, blow out candles, or draw pictures
-You can tell Jesus all about your big feelings because sometimes He has big feelings, too
-He can turn your days into better ones
-How to process feelings with Jesus

The illustrations in this book are bright, cheerful and appropriate for the text of the book.

I received this book from the author/publisher free of charge, with no expectation of a positive review.

What a tender and inviting book to explore our feelings as kids or adults, realizing that Jesus welcomes us in them and understands them fully. Really well done book identifying situations, physical sensations and great/colorful illustrations to recognize what and why we are feeling big feelings. Thanks to Aubrey Sampson for this great book for young and old to share and talk about together.

Have you or your kids ever felt bad, mad, and sad all at the same time? This new picture book, Big Feelings Days, by Aubrey Sampson helps families process big and small emotions that we feel and sometimes don't understand. Instead of negating or hiding our feelings, the book affirms feelings and gives children a voice to express their hurts and disappointments.

I wish I had this book when my son died to help my family process our emotions. Grateful that it is available now as a resource for families walking through the pain of loss.

The book expands to how Jesus felt different emotions too, and therefore, we can bring our whole selves and all our feelings to God. It is okay to grieve and lament; God still loves us in the midst of it all and offers hope.

I also like how the book helps children become aware of the physical sensations their bodies may be experiencing during these times using similes and imagery that children can relate to easily. The book also gives kid-friendly and practical ways to help children be mindful and calm down.

This is such a great book and I love how the beautiful illustrations by Natalia Vasilica feature a diversity of kids as well.

I am always looking for new books to add to my list of books about social emotional learning that I use to teach parents how to process trauma, and I am definitely adding Big Feelings Days to my recommended resources.

I am thankful for the publisher, NavPress, and NetGalley for giving me a digital advanced reader copy of this book, but I loved it so much that I ordered my own hard copy and I must say, I like it so much better because of the sparkles! There is even glitter on the title on the spine! I'm planning to order more copies to share with my trauma-informed parent support group that I lead.

We all have big feelings. Whether our big feelings occur on rainy days, or for reasons that are much bigger than the weather, children need help navigating their big feelings.

What I love about this book is how it helps little ones understand and articulate their feelings. They don’t have years of experience like adults with a wiser perspective of loss, sadness, and anger.

Big Feelings Days helps parents teach their children how to understand what they’re feeling and identify their emotions. Aubrey gives youngsters practical advice on handling these big feelings.

But that’s not all. Aubrey assures young minds and hearts the truth of God’s Word - Jesus is always with us and loves us through our Big Feelings Days. After all, Jesus had big feelings too.

I’m so grateful Aubrey wrote this book! I wish I had this resource when my own kids were little, but I’ll certainly buy copies for young parents and new grandparents! I’m keeping my own copy for future grandchildren! ;)

What a perfect way to explain feelings to children. As we know, there is more to feelings than just being happy or sad, and I thought this book explained that well, in addition to showing what those feelings can manifest into. This book also demonstrated healthy way to handle those feelings and was a great reminder that those hard feelings don't/won't last forever.

Thank you NetGalley and NavPress for giving me a digital copy to honestly read and review.

Big Feelings Days gets right to the heart of those hard feelings that kids experience on rough days. It not only gives kids the language to help describe what they are feeling, but teaches them to take their struggles and lay them in Jesus' arms.

As a foster mom and an autism mom, I spend a lot of time working through these big feelings with our little ones. This book will be such a great resource to help lead them through so many different struggles.

I loved the art work in this book. We have a little one who loves to stomp around in his dinosaur jammies too! The visualization of Jesus side-by-side with the children in the book is such a great representation of a daily walk with the Lord.

This book is a must read, for all kiddos, caregivers, and really, any grownup. The tenderness of the words in this book reflects the heart of God to bring all our feelings to him. I'm getting this for my kids and for others in our life.

This book went on my must buy list! I need a hard copy for our home! It is perfect for all children, but some come from hard places, and need additional tools to help sort through their feelings. This is one of those books. Church preschools can benefit from it too! A good book for probably up to age 8. Maybe age 9, if there are younger kids in the home too!

I received an advanced copy of this book through NetGalley. I loved that this book combines Big Feelings, which is a hot term amongst parents, and faith. Additionally, the diverse images of children and adults in various stages of life was also a wonderful part of this book. I appreciated that the author spoke to Jesus, his plight and own big feelings, in addition to providing physical ways to help feel your big feelings including yelling and playing with playdough.

I can't say I've seen other books of this nature combine all these different topics so well. The only thing I wish is that there would be more body diversity in sizes and ability diversity.

Big Feelings Days is an awesome book that teaches kids from a Christian perspective about emotions by Aubrey Sampson. It was well written and beautifully illustrated. My favorite illustration in the book is the picture that shows Jesus experiencing emotions. I highly recommend this book. Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for the opportunity to read this book. My review is also on Goodreads.

"When your big feelings are as stompy as a dinosaur, or as blustery as the wind, or as wild as a bouncy ball or as loud as a thunderstorm--Jesus loves you all the same."

This was an incredibly sweet story of how kids experience big feelings and while they may have some human responses to those, they should lean into Jesus instead. He is always with them in their big feelings because Jesus has big feelings too! The book ends foretelling that one day we won't have these big feelings of frustration because we will get to live with Jesus. This book has very simple, cute illustrations.

I received and ARC of this book through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I really love the idea of this book and the things that it teaches. The art is really cute and supports the prose really well. This is a religious book about feelings, and it's really well done as such. I expect it will appeal to a lot of different Christian sects. My one complaint about it is that it seemed to go on and on and on. I am unlikely to purchase this book for the library, but somewhat likely to purchase it for my big feelings little boy.

Big Feelings Days is wonderful book for parents to use when helping kids cope with strong emotions. It reminds them about Jesus' experience with big emotion and teaches them ways to handle those feelings. The illustrations are colorful and bright, yet calming. A great read on bad and good days!

This book was fine but nothing to write home about. It was a bit wordy, though the rhyming bits (sad, bad, mad days) were pretty cute. The illustrations were nice to look at and fit the tone of the book.

This book for little ones with big feelings. Have you ever felt sad, mad or had a bad day? It helps to talk about these feelings and what happened. We can feel alone with our feelings. Having a parent, a grandparent, or a teacher that can help and guide us with those feelings. It helps to know that Jesus had those same feelings when he lived on earth over 2000 years ago. What did Jesus do with those feelings? What can we do?

A good reminder for both parents and children that we are not alone. We are to help each other with those feelings that affect our bodies, mind, and our ability to love.

A special thank you to Tyndale House Publishing and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest revew.

I loved the idea of this book and the title convinced me to read it, but I wasn't amazed by it. The imagery was mediocre and the text kind of repeated itself.

What a lovely book about feelings, coping, and the strength of Jesus to share with the children in your life. It explains some different challenging emotions they may be having, how they may be feeling these emotions in their bodies, and positive ways to cope. Jesus is presented as a source of comfort, love, and understanding to help deal with hard emotions; after all, He had them, too.

I had some surprising feelings while I read this book. It was beautiful to me, and I did tear up a bit. I loved the clear child-friendly explanations, the wording was perfect, and the illustrations deserve a chef’s kiss. They truly brought the words to life, and gave me the feels.

Aubrey Sampson has done a wonderful job here. So long as you are open to reading a book that features Jesus, you will both love and find this a useful tool.

Thank you to NetGalley and Tyndale House Publishers for providing an ARC in exchange for my opinion.
