Thank you to Netgally, the publishers, and Michael Fowler

When I requested this book I was unaware that it was apart of a series, one that requires you to read the previous books for this one to make sense. I am unable to read all the previous books along with this one before the publish date. Therefore, I will rate this a fair 3/5 stars and will adjust the rating and review when I am able to read all the books in the series along with this one.

Michael Fowler's novels are often a hit or miss for me but this one was a hit that kept me guessing and turning pages.
Tense, fast paced and gripping.
Highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher for this ARC, all opinions are mine

A brief read with some unexpected turns to keep you thinking. In my humble view, that is a convincing whodunit.
A independent review for NetGalley / Sapere Books

thank Netgalley and Sapere Books and Michael Fowler for an advance copy of House of Death, the third novel to feature former forensic psychologist turned detective, Dr Hamlet Mottrell and his friend and boss, DS Alix Rainbow of South Yorkshire Police.
Hamlet and Alix are still building their case against the serial killer known as the Wedding Killer, when the police and press receive a number of anonymous letters purporting to be from the real killer. They are put on gardening leave while another force investigates their alleged mishandling of the case, but they decide to use the time to clear their names. When they find links to more missing women it puts not just their careers but their life in jeopardy.

I never got to read the first two in the series but I have to say I absolutely loved House of Death, which is an action packed, plot driven novel with several twists and turns. It is not a long novel, but it had everything to make it a very interesting read.
The plot is fairly relentless with a steady flow of reveals and developments. There are more bodies, a sense of menace from acts of violence and so much tension in the later stages. I was living every minute with them by the end. It was so fast paced and I need more of these characters and I’ll be waiting for more books in the series.

Definitely a 5 star read for me and definitely recommend it to everyone!

I hadn't read the 1st 2 book since the series but loved this as a standalone. The characters were well written and it was hard not to get invested in them trying to finally bring the right killer to justice.

The writing was good and flowed well. It kept up the pace throughout and the plot was always moving forward. It seemed a really quick read but that may just be because I was so invested that I couldn't put it down

I'll definitely be reading g the 1st 2 books after this one!

This is a very good read. Storyline fliws well and it’s well written.
Second book in the wedding killer murders. Actually brings closure to that set of murders.
Really enjoyed this and looking forward to the next one by this author

This isn’t a particularly long book so it’s a quick read but it packs a punch. It’s the 3rd in a series and whilst I didn’t feel like I was missing any vital information I will be going back to read the first 2 for the history of the main characters. Both Hamlet and Alix are lovable and I enjoyed their takes on the case. It’s fast paced with a lot of action and I wasn’t sure how they would prove their innocence in the handling of the case which added to the suspense. I did find there were a lot of overly detailed descriptions of the meals they were eating which was a bit odd.

I received a copy of the ebook via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review

Former forensic psychologist, Dr Hamlet Mottrell and his boss, DS Alix Rainbow have arrested the serial murderer, dubbed "The Wedding Killer" and he is alleging that the two detectives have framed him.

After a series of letters, claiming that the Wedding Killer is not the man in custody, there is an investigation into the case, and Alix and Hamlet are forced to take 'gardening leave'.

They decide to flout the rules, and find the truth, going to where the killer grew up to find out exactly who he is.

A good novel, I did enjoy it very much. It was suspenseful and fast paced.
I would like to read the previous two books, to get more of an insight into the main characters, and what makes them tick.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

Hamlet and Alix solve a murder…a serial killer…this book was sent to me by Netgalley electronically for review. Thanks to the publisher and author. This is a story that is suspenseful and intriguing. It is appalling at times because the killer has no conscience, or seems to have none. It is frightening…the events. The author is talented at writing a novel that reads like nonfiction. It is like watching a movie. The images are so realistic. . There is language that does not add to the book. That being said, an innovative mystery.

House of Death by Michael Fowler.
Life never runs smoothly for Dr Hamlet Mottrell…

Forensic psychologist turned detective Dr Hamlet Mottrell and his crime-fighting partner Detective Sergeant Alix Rainbow have found themselves in hot water.

The serial murderer, The Wedding Killer, who they put in custody is pleading his innocence, alleging he has been framed by the two detectives.

And a series of letters, claiming to be from the real killer, back up his accusation.

Under the spotlight for mishandling the investigation, Hamlet and Alix are sent home on gardening leave while another force conducts a scrutiny of their investigation.
The pair are told not to interfere. But that is one order they must disobey.
Determined to discover the truth, they go against the rules, secretly embarking on a behind-the-scenes enquiry to discover who the Wedding Killer is, and they soon discover the disappearance of two women who might be linked.
The quest to discover who is behind their vanishing quickly becomes a dangerous exercise, putting not only Hamlet and Alix’s careers in jeopardy but also their lives…
Did they put the right killer behind bars? Can they clear their names?
Or will the two detectives end up as victims…?
Really good read. Great story and characters. Gripping. 5*.

Good book! This book had a bit of everything! It had suspense, intrigue, murder, mystery, A great who done it, and a few crazy twists and turns! I sort of feel like i need to read the rest of the books in this series to get the full story but it was still a great read and answered most of my questions! The storyline was very interesting and kept me glued to my Kindle! I definitely recommend reading this book as it was well worth reading! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!

I thoroughly enjoyed House of Death, which is an action packed, plot driven novel with several twists and turns. It is not a long novel, but it packs a punch as there is no room for padding or slow moments.

The plot is fairly relentless with a steady flow of reveals and developments. There are more bodies, a sense of menace from acts of violence and so much tension in the later stages. I was living every minute with them by the end. In fact, I had to take a couple of breathers to try and relax.

Unlike the previous novels this one is more plot driven, so, while there are references to the characters’ past trauma and history, it is all about their off books investigation. It may be said that serendipity plays a large role in it, but so what? It’s entertaining fiction that held my attention from start to finish.

I like Hamlet and Alix. They work well as a team and each bring their own strengths to the job. He’s more even handed in his thought processes, but she’s the more experienced investigator.

House of Death is a good read that I have no hesitation in recommending.
