My thanks to the Author publisher's and NetGalley for providing me with a Kindle version of this book to read and honestly review.
Well written clever entertaining imaginative serial killer mystery thriller, with quality characters throughout. So why only four stars well it's a trifle far fetched, why would our heroine, a British Private Investigator on holiday with her daughter be roped into the task of hunting the killer. Second!y where does the title come from, personally have no idea.
Entertaining.

This is the first in what looks to be a new crime series from Paula Lennon, featuring black London based PI Olivia Knightley, recently divorced, working for the Dynamics Investigations Agency, her boss Bill Tweedy. She is going on holiday on a travelling caravan holiday to the US with her 16 year old daughter, Amy, who did not take the divorce well. Having struggled to give focused attention to Amy with her demanding job, Olivia is hoping the holiday will bring the two of them closer together away from the suffocating attention of her ex-husband, Chris. Upon landing, they travel to their first site at a national park in Iowa, waking up early the following morning, Olivia and Amy go on an early morning walk when they make a gruesome discovery, the dead body of a man they had met the previous evening.

Driven by her deep innate curiosity, and her professional background, Olivia cannot help taking a too close interest in the scene, and attracting the attention of Special Agent Jack Tyler of the National Park investigation branch and his small team that includes the FBI's Tom Walsh, going from crime scene to crime scene. This is not the first murder with this MO, there is a serial killer on the loose that Tyler is desperate to catch. Whilst being interrogated, Olivia impresses with her ability to recall tiny details of the murder scene, so much so that Tyler invites her to join the team, which with the blessing of Amy she does. But there is the small matter of Amy, and in a effort to keep her occupied and keep her away from undesirable influences, Olivia lets her get involved in the case.

Olivia and Amy are trapped into trying to keep her ex in the dark by misleading Chris, and previous mistakes come back to haunt Olivia with the threat of litigation hanging over her. There are added pressures if you are British, such as the need to be aware of the differences in the US, where trespassing can be met by the stand your ground rule, where you can be shot, with questions asked later. This is an okay crime read, although I was not sure of Olivia getting Amy mixed up on a dangerous serial killer murder investigation, and it was perhaps a little too cosy for my personal tastes. Many thanks to the publisher for an ARC.

This is a cosy mystery, easy to read and excellent for a quick read. I really liked Olivia and her daughter Amy, two strong, independent characters. They are on a road trip across America when Amy finds a dead body at their campsite. As Olivia is a PI, she soon becomes embroiled in the investigation. I do hope there is more to come from this character! Thanks to Net Galley for my ARC.
