This is a great guide to the ones who wanted to set-up their own Greenhouse. It is vey much helpful with good pictures and home-worked steps. Here is an easy to follow info. There is project tutorials, resource lists and metric equivalence charts.
It will be good to be on any school's library shelf and public libraries also. There is everything to know on basics about, on how to make one. For example, for adding plumbing options you have to keep it close to your house.

If you really want to build one, get ideas and instructions here.

This is an excellent book for DIYers who are ready to take the plunge into building their own greenhouse. This information is well-researched, presented clearly, and visually, the photos are lovely. The images and illustrations will absolutely have any reader excited to try out building their own greenhouse. If you already have an older copy of this book, I wouldn’t necessarily recommend updating yet to this one. However, if you do not have this book and are looking for a comprehensive guide for beginner and intermediate builders or gardeners, I would highly recommend purchasing this!

The Complete Guide to DIY Greenhouses 3rd Edition is a reformat and a re-release update of the classic reference by the editors of Black & Decker. Due out 13th June 2023 from Quarto on their Cool Springs Press imprint, it's 240 pages and will be available in paperback and ebook formats (ebook format available now). Originally published in 2011, this is the third edition and is updated with some new photography and new code/construction/materials.

One thing that characterizes these Black & Decker reference guides is the uniform logical layout. The books are streamlined and information is grouped thematically in chapters - so relevant info is easy to find and easy to use. The introduction includes a solid overview over safety, project design and materials choices, siting, and more. The following chapters build on one another: project tutorials, upcycling materials and building cold frames, and companion project tutorials. The editors have also included resource lists, metric equivalence charts, and a useful cross referenced index.

The emphasis throughout is on clearly written information which is correct, up-to-date, and safety conscious. Tutorials are accompanied by step by step instructions and photos. Materials and tools are clearly labeled and listed in bullet lists throughout the text. Measurements throughout (as well as standards for code-work) are given in imperial (American standard) units.
Five stars. This is a great resource for DIYers, homeowners, and would be a good choice for school and public library acquisition. All the books in this series are well written, accessible, and safety conscious.

Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.

My nephew and I have been trying to find a way to produce more fruit and veggies every year. This guide might make it possible for us. This guide is truly a complete guide! From where best to put your greenhouse to what you may be able to reuse to build it. What size you might need, what materials will work best for you, on and on!!

The Complete Guide has drawings and pictures to show what is needed to be done for the many different greenhouses included. Anything from a temporary one for starting plants in the spring to some that were gorgeous enough to be tiny houses!! And I take my tiny houses seriously. I’m hoping with such detailed instructions and lists, the adhd brains of myself and my nephew could get through this without forgetting too much! Only time will tell. But for a family of four, they could save so much money by having their own greenhouse to grown what they like to eat.

If you’re even thinking of building a greenhouse, this is the book for you! To have everything laid out in front of you by experts. The only thing easier would be if they came and built it for you. I was given a copy of this book for an honest review from Netgalley.

Building a greenhouse for my yard has been a dream of mine for awhile now and The Complete Guide to DIY Greenhouses has certainly helped to make it seem like more of a possibility! The book is filled with tons of information about the different types of greenhouse builds and all the different considerations that you need to focus on when building your greenhouse! This book doesn’t have much information on gardening or actually using your greenhouse, instead focusing on building and maintaining your greenhouse! It was a great beginner guide to building your greenhouse!

Exceptional Resource for All Skill Levels!

Black and Decker has outdone themselves with The Complete Guide to DIY Greenhouses 3rd Edition. It is an invaluable resource for anyone looking to create, design, or hire someone to construct a greenhouse, hoophouse, or cold frame. From soup to nuts Black and Decker has thought about all the elements a home gardener has to consider in the process: choosing a structure type, style, materials, budget, building site, foundations, flooring, watering, lighting, heating, and so much more! There is even a section on companion projects. I’m very excited to make the Solar Dryer project. I plan on using it to dry herbs. I was blown away at how thorough and informative the book is. Black and Decker does not skip on the color illustrations either. There are loads throughout which really help the reader to clearly understand the project details. There are plentiful diagrams and set-by-step photos too! Project information is clear and very easy to understand at every level. So, beginners should not have concerns about being lost in the material. Overall the book is EXCEPTIONAL! After getting the book and reading it, you will come away feeling confident in tackling any of the projects; I know I do! My thanks to #Black+Decker and #QuartoPublishingGroup for providing me with an ARC of the book in exchange for my honest review.

A very detailed and extensive book about building your own greenhouse, from small to big. You get the measurements, what you need, how to do it, where it should be placed, and so much more. A great guide to everyone who is at least a little bit handy and can do this with your own hands! Greatly appreciate all the advice!

Black and Decker always does a great job on these sorts of books, provided you’re a skilled carpenter and you want an upscale finished product.

There are basically two ways you can undertake a greenhouse project— buy all new materials and do it the way a professional would do it, or recycle and repurpose materials to cobble one together inexpensively and sustainably like something you’d find on permies.com. This is definitely for the first type. I am more the second type.

The book covers all you need to know to build impressive greenhouses and smaller scale gardening projects like raised beds. It covers all you’d need like irrigation systems, laying concrete and electricity. It is very conventional so the electrical does not cover options like solar, for instance.

This is not the book for you if you’re looking for an inexpensive greenhouse on your off grid land but absolutely is if you are a good carpenter in the suburbs who wants a Pinterest worthy greenhouse that all your neighbors will covet.

I read a temporary digital review copy of this book via NetGalley.

Great starting point
I am interested in building a greenhouse, so when this popped up on NetGalley, I grabbed it. The author covered so many things thoroughly, and included great photos and drawings. They also gave detailed explanations, info and links to even more. I highly recommend.
I requested and received a NetGalley ARC and offer my opinion freely.

If you want to build or have someone else build you a greenhouse, this is a good book!
The book begins by having you decide where in your yard you want to place the greenhouse, this is very important as you need to plan for sun exposure and to decide how much shade your plants will need.
You will also want to consider how much your greenhouse will be affected by wind, sun and the proximity of trees - due to falling branches. If you are putting in plumbing, you need to put the greenhouse close to the house.
The materials you use to build your greenhouse depend on how simple or elaborate your greenhouse is - a simple one needs a plastic and wood frame, while a more elaborate one could use glass, metal and stone floors.
This book gives you a variety of plans, and it discusses drainage, lighting, irrigation, heating, ventilation and cooling.
The variety of structures is amazing, from an old fashioned glass Victorian greenhouse, to an A-Frame greenhouse, to a sturdy sunroom, and a geodesic dome!
Enjoy browsing through this book of plans and designs, you will find the structure you need!
