What happens when you combine the fantastic nature in Hilda with preteen angst, the zaniness of Calvin and Hobbes, and the darker side of the Owl House? You get Cindy and Biscuit, the first volume. I found this both cute and spine-tingling, from start to finish.

Cindy is very relatable. She tries to be good, but the monsters and aliens in the woods keep tripping her up. A mermaid draws her into a water-fight, while a werewolf needs some cheering up during a lonely night. Even a snowman will get her in trouble, and her classmates think that she's weird. I remember being the weird kid who could not behave in class.

Biscuit always has Cindy's back, and they face both the obstacles and her mother's exasperated face. He is a very good boy.

I really love comic strips, and this was such a great collection of strips and longer stories about Cindy and Biscuit! Loved the combination of super short, medium and longer stories! I also think these stories were pretty fun, but also pretty creepy! It kinda gives me Gravity falls vibes. It was also really realistic, which made me really feel for Cindy a LOT!

I think this would be great to use in a unit featuring different text types, comics or storytelling!

Cindy and Biscuit is an enjoyable graphic novel about a young girl and her dog who get into all kinds of scrapes and adventures because she sees monsters and sometimes these monsters see her. Of course her mother doesn’t believe her and she gets blamed for things she didn’t do and sometimes for things she did do. It is a heartwarming set is stories that adults and children will enjoy.

Cindy and Biscuit is a book full of short adventures of a young girl and her dog. These adventures often include beating up monsters and saving the day! They are all quirky and fun. I really enjoyed the characterization of our main character and I found myself wanting even more of her tales at the end. I loved this!

What an absolute joy. I loved reading about Cindy and Biscuit and their monster-fighting and monster-friending shenanigans. I find the "Vol. 1" in the title encouraging. I hope there will be more!

Thanks the net galley and the publisher Oni Press for this graphic novel. I think every Cindy needs a pale like biscuit in their life. I absolutely adored the illustrations and colour scheme throughout the novel. I felt the author was able to bring the story and characters to life, especially those beyond human existence. Definitely recommend checking this out, if your willing to undertake an adventure.

Cindy and her sidekick/pet dog Biscuit are a force to be reckoned with. Saving the world from aliens, defeating ghosts and monsters, all in a day's work. The art style is pure nostalgia, chunky and vibrant, a mix between classic comic strip and 90s cartoon, and the stories range from cute and cuddly, to downright disturbing, in that excellent way that shows like Courage the Cowardly Dog used to just toe the line into horror, but keeping it friendly enough for young people.

A quick, but satisfying read, even for adults. Highly recommended.

Cindy is a scrappy little latchkey kid with an overactive imagination, which is forever landing her in trouble. She daydreams of monsters when she should be paying attention in class, and disappears into the woods surrounding her house well into the evening, much to her mom's exasperation.

Cindy and her ever-loyal best friend Biscuit get into all sorts of adventures, most of which involve saving the world: from aliens, werewolves, mummified mermaids, abominable snowmen, swamp ghosts, inter-dimensional monsters, you name it. When the one-eyed creature who has been haunting Cindy's dreams pulls Cindy and Biscuit into its world, the girl and her pup go missing IRL. Can our heroes find their way back home?

Even though there is a main plot here, CINDY AND BISCUIT: VOLUME 1 feels more like a collection of loosely connected vignettes, some only a few pages long. The different stories are somewhat interesting, and give White a chance to showcase a variety of Big Bads (my favorite are the sentient snowman who hunts down his creator, i.e., Cindy, and an altercation with an abominable snowman that ends in a snowball fight ... not to mention the werewolf with a heart of gold).

CINDY AND BISCUIT has two things going for it: White's spectacular (and spectacularly creepy) artwork and, of course, a dog. (I am forever a sucker for a canine sidekick.)

On the downside, the collection feels a bit ... loose? Like it could use a tighter plot to weave all its brilliantly colored threads together.

Cindy & Biscuit is a collection of comics that are very reminiscent of Funnies in the newspaper. It is perfect for fans of comics like Calvin and Hobbes.
Short comics that are separate from one another but all explore friendship, imagination, and not being believed/excepted.

It is fun and has wonderful art, I do wish there was more of an overarching plot.

I enjoyed it! I thought it was a good graphic novel. The only problem I had with it was the brutal change of stories. I wasn't expecting several stories of like five pages each (except for the one in the woods).

Otherwise, I found the illustrations great, the monsters were well-thought, as well as the stories around Cindy and her dog, Biscuit.

Cindy, a feisty young girl, and her dog Biscuit seem to attract monsters wherever they go. Her mom would rather Cindy stay at home and behave. But it’s not unusual for Cindy and Biscuit to be found wandering in the woods, most likely fighting a monster or creepy creature.

This comic is filled with short stories containing lots of adventure, action, and a little bit of spookiness. The illustrations are wonderful— energetic and expressive. There aren’t any significant lessons except to show kids they can be brave. I was surprised at how scary some of the creatures/monsters were since I thought this was targeted towards young kids, so be wary if reading with little ones.

A cute collection of comic stories for young fans of adventure and creature features!

I enjoyed reading this book. It was engaging, but I wasn’t always sure what was happening. The art is incredible and really helps move the story along. A really good read, and I’m already looking forward to Vol. 2!

This graphic novel was such a fast read?!
Most of the pages are non texted and just a super fast sequence of images.
It took around twenty minutes to finish it which could be both a good and a bad thing.

The good thing is that this could be read anywhere and at anytime. There's no need for any attention to details nor anything. A single story is such a few pages long.
It's definitely a lighter novel for a younger audience, so it's fast and easy for everyone.

What left me in doubt was if it's woth to spend around 20$ for something this short and fast to read.
The art inside is pretty and I liked the choice of the color palette used. Considering this a sort of a short stories collection, every one has a different main color. Like this it's very eye cartchy, even if someone can say it's not very realistic. In fact having all the drawings almost one color-based could be very flat and the characters could feel very distant from reality.

It's definitely something to read as a time filler, without putting too much attention to it.
The stories are entertaining and very different one from the other.
It definitely wasn't my best read of the month even if it was indeed as fun one.
Getting to know these two characters reminded me a lot of my dog and I, even if we don't imagine together a world full of perils and monsters to deafeat lol

This book was so cute! I had so much fun experiencing Cindy & Biscuit's adventures. Felt a little like Calvin & Hobbes at times too, but in a good way.

I loved the emotion portrayed in Cindy and Biscuit's relationship. The creepiness is very good and makes it very unique. I feel like Cindy would be very relatable. Only thing that I'm not sure how to feel about is that there's no resolution for the abusive episodes, but this being a compilation, it makes sense.

If you haven’t read this comic series yet, I don’t know what we are doing in the reading world as readers. Yes, I am expressing my own feelings as I get to read it now and had no idea about the existence of “Cindy and Biscuit” and I am crying.

You will adore the new edition that’s coming out later this year. I love the new cover and the content is top notch! The imaginary world is indeed powerful and you will get to know this when you read this comic compilation.

The art is refreshing and easy to the eyes. Not most comics are easy to read because of their art sequence style. However, I am quite impressed with this compilation.

The story is about day to day adventures of a child outcast who finds out that she has all the courage when she’s with her dog!

I cried. I laughed. I hugged both the characters. You have to experience this!
