I really cannot get into this book. There are a lot of things that are not explained. I found it hard to bond with Cindy. I am really sorry for giving this such a low rating. Sorry about this but I just cannot get into this one.

Cindy and her cute little dog, Biscuit, seem to be monster-magnets - not that anyone believes her. She valiantly fights most of them off (occasionally befriending others), protecting her little corner of the world from treacherous brutes without an inkling of thanks from her mother, teachers, or peers - and in fact, she's usually berated for wandering off or making a mess.

This book was mostly a collection of short monster encounters (think cartoon strips), sandwiching a longer encounter/story in the middle. It wasn't exactly clear at first that she was fighting monsters for the greater good, as our first introduction to her is when she kills a bunch of aliens that just crashed to Earth with seemingly no provocation; I think this particular short would've been better off later in the book, because it framed her to be a blood-thirsty little girl, which was a bit off-putting at first. Other than that, it was a fun collection to read!

This book was so cute!
As others have said it does remind me a bit of Calvin and Hobbes. However, these characters are all their own. I loved Biscuits so much and found myself just wanting to give him some puppy cuddles.
The stories in this book were very cute and the artwork was great!
I found myself understanding Cindy for thinking it would be fun to destroy the earth, because of the mean classmates.
This book is so fun, I will definitely reread and anxiously await the next volumes.

I received this ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Look for this one on August 15, 2023

I had so much fun with this comic! Dan White's Cindy and Biscuit is very entertaining even for a 38 year old mom ❤️. Cindy is a misunderstood bad girl and she will melt your heart. Her and her dog sidekick get into all sorts of trouble while usually saving the world or family and friends from monsters. Cindy and Biscuit even befriend a few of these monsters. Highly enjoyable and I want to read all the rest of Cindy and Biscuit's adventures. I ❤️ a misunderstood bad girl.

This book was so nice, and also such a fun and interesting read! The drawings also are perfect for the storyline.
The story is of a girl and her dog – and their wild, super wild adventures, lots of imagination, and lots of action.
My tween read it too and she says she wants more books like this, and she too said that INTERESTING is the best way to describe this graphic novel. So we will be looking for more books from this author! Loved it, loved it so much!

As a Calvin and Hobbes fan, I found this book to be similar to that writing. However, that said, this was overall an enchanting and fun read. The tales of daring experienced by the duo of Cindy and her faithful companion Biscuit were a great read. It is a good book to simply escape with and enjoy; no serious thinking required. A great read!

I hope there will be more books in the series to enjoy!

4.25⭐️
Cindy and Biscuit is a beautifully illustrated graphic novel, showcasing the hearty bond between a girl and her four-legged best friend and the adventures they get up to - even if each time everyone thinks Cindy is weird, making up stories, and has an over-active imagination.
White displays this fast-paced story using beautifully bright and chunky illustrations that showcase the child-like wonder that comes with your youth. Cindy is a headstrong female lead character, who braves into selfless adventures with her dog Biscuit. White seamlessly brings forward chapter after chapter that depicts the youthfulness of being a child, the resilience of children, and the hardships that come with standing up for yourself.

Fans of Scooby-Doo, The PowerPuff girls, and other youthful crime fighting groups would enjoy this brightly illustrated book full of adventures.

Easily a graphic novel volume that you can read in a single sitting and enjoy time and time again due to the quick nature of the story.

I’m very interested to see where Cindy and Biscuit venture in the second volume 👀

Wow, so simple yet so entertaining. The story line and the artwork match perfectly. A comic to be enjoyed by readers of all ages. Cindy and her faithful dog, Biscuit, protect the world from ghouls and monsters. Home - a mum continually called by the school, but forgiving and loving. Cindy, a girl that seems distracted and a loner at school. Why? Protecting the world is a big job! Is this really happening or just in Cindy’s imagination (a way to get through the day)? The later would be too sad! So let’s go with the former. Because we all deserve to be protected. This can be read as a stand alone. But I can’t wait to find out how the story develops in Vols 2 and 3. Thank you to Ono Press! and NetGalley for the ARC. The views expressed are all mine, freely given.

This graphic novel is a little bit like Calvin and Hobbs, in that Cindy and Biscuit, her dog, can see things that no one else can see, such as aliens and monsters, and a werewolf that likes her, and later saves her.

It is rather sad, because Cindy sees these things, the other kids don’t like her and tease her and do all the horrid things kids do to those who are “other”. But Cindy has Biscuit, and Biscuit has her.

Sweet weird stories. In one dream she is on the moon, and throws a rock at the earth and destroys it, which makes her happy.

Both frustrating and heartfelt. Kids can be cruel, but Cindy doesn’t really care. And perhaps that is the saving grace of these stories. That Cindy continues on, no matter what. And it all works out in the end.

I think you have to have a certain sense of other yourself, to enjoy these, as as one who was, and perhaps still is at times, this was a cute first volume.

Thanks to Netgalley for making this book available for an honest review This book will be published the 15 of August, 2023 by Oni Press.
