I thought that this was a lovely story and the illustrations were perfect for the book!

The book was well written and easy to follow and my five year old daughter loved it.

I loved the message of the book and the way that the story was written too

The book was a positive read that we both really enjoyed.

It is 5 stars from me for this one – very highly recommended!

The message of this book was cute, but the story itself left me (and my 4 year old) slightly perplexed. Neither one of us could figure out why the characters were wearing buns as clothing - it felt odd and not in a cute, wacky sort of way. My little one and I both enjoyed the dialogue between the character and the illustrations were cute, but she did not want to read it again after the first pass and I understand why.

I thought this was pretty cute overall, although I'm not sure I totally got the message. I didn't really understand why they were wearing sparkly buns or why she was wearing the same one over and over. Like, at first I thought they *were* hamburgers, but then they're just wearing them? But they also wear bathrobes? So why wear a hamburger? I just didn't understand the backstory, lmao. I did like the message of individuality and doing your own thing, but it also just felt a little incomplete/unexplained. There were also quite a few missing punctuation marks which were a bit distracting.

A must-read children's picture book that encourages young readers to embrace their individuality. The book tells the story of Emme, who loves her clothes and accessories, but especially loves one item. When her friends start to tease her for wearing it to school two days in a row, Emme learns the valuable lesson that being true to oneself is more important than fitting in with the crowd. The book's beautiful illustrations and relatable storytelling make it an excellent tool for teaching children about the importance of self-expression and individuality.

As a teacher, I always love a good children’s book that I can share with my class. “The Sparkly Bun” had a great message that is a current issue in my classroom; wanting what others have simply because they don’t have the same thing. It’s exhausting navigating this social system in my classroom and have been looking for a developmentally appropriate approach to educating my students on identity. “The Sparkly Bun” is kid friendly and light. While I don’t think my students will particularly enjoy the “buns” as the analogy in this story (I can see confusion about why they’re wearing hamburger buns and how they get to change their bun being a talking point), I honestly think they will enjoy the message. The graphics are great! The colors are bright and there is much to look at while reading the simple text. I would read this is my class! I’m

Review:

I'll keep the review short as the story is short. I do not have children of my own. Unless you count my four dogs. Which I do. I do have quite a few friends that have children. I even have a few friends that are grandparents or about to be. So I read these books to give them recommendations of adorable books. This is definitely one of them that I would recommend. It's not only adorable, it's also educational as well. It gives a very important lesson that I feel all children should hear about. The importance of being unique. The illustrations are so cute, too!!!

A delightful children's picture book that teaches the importance of being true to yourself. Emme loves her clothes and accessories, but she especially loves one item. Through her experience, Emme learns the valuable lesson that being an individual is more important than fitting in with the crowd. With beautiful illustrations and relatable storytelling, "The Sparkly Bun" is a must-read for children of all ages.

What a fun story! I love the creativity and humor that went into making this picture book. 'The Sparkly Bun' follows Emme who loves wearing her sparkly bun even if it desperately needs to be washed. At school when she sees what her friends are wearing, she comes home wanting her parents to buy the same items. Her parents teach her that being unique is what makes her special. You don't have to have everything your friends do. Your friends love you exactly as you are. She then forges her own path forward sticking to who she is as a person.
The story is filled with encouraging text and charming illustrations. This is an important message for kids to hear told in a funny and relatable way.
Highly recommend kids to read this.

Oh WOW! This book needs to be in every school, pre-school, daycare and home for adults to read to the children. The illustrations are fabulous, colorful and on point. But this message..... fabulous! Every child needs to learn and be taught that it is ok not to have what their friends have and to be their own person. Such a great book and message!

This is a sweet little book about being yourself and not worrying about what others are doing. This is a great message for children and can be used as a conversation starter as well as a theme for, ie, a craft activity. I love the illustrations! Highly recommended.

A cute, unique story about being yourself. The drawing were nice. The story was simple and straitforward, but pretty text heavy for younger kids. Kids will enjoy the silliness of all the characters wearing buns.

The story was so fun, and the illustrations were amazing. The artwork followed the story closely, and the colors created interest.
Emme’s family wears buns as clothing, her favorite was her sparkly bun and it turns out, she wanted to look the same as her school friends.

“You know, we don’t need to look the same every day, right? Asks Poppy.

I always look for the lesson that was being taught through the story. Emme learned that she can be independent to her friends and they will still be liked.
Thank you Keith Stoeckeler, Lana Lee (illustrator), and NetGalley for the privilege of reading and reviewing this book.

I thought it was a lovely picture book that will certainly appeal to kids who are already starting to choose their own outfits and thinking about how they want to express themselves through fashion. The illustrations were really cute and I love that all the characters wear different hamburger bun outfits and the main character in the end sews her own unique outfit.

P.S. I just wanted to point out that I think maybe there's an issue with the file when you read it on the Kindle app. When I read it on Kindle (on my phone), the file had no words, so I thought it was a wordless picture book at first... until I saw a sample on Amazon had words. I tried reading the ARC on the NetGalley app, and this time it had words, which clarified the plot. It could be an issue with my Kindle app, so I don't know if that's really a problem, but I thought I should mention it.

This was a cute story that both my son and I enjoyed. There is a great lesson for children to learn about being yourself. The use of buns for clothing was a fun and unique touch.

Keith Stoeckler's The Sparkly Bun is an unexpected delight about a young girl who learns to dare to be different. I'll admit that I thought this book would be about a hairstyle and I laughed out loud when I saw that everyone is actually adorned in hamburger buns!! Emme thinks that she has to wear the same buns as her friends to fit in but her parents help her realize that it's so much better to stand out.

This is an amazing book with an important message. I can't wait to add it to my classroom library.

A little girl named Emme wakes up and gets ready to go to school. But what to wear? Everyone in her family and elsewhere wear buns. As in, hamburger-bun type clothing. A top bun for a shirt and a bottom bun for trousers or skirts.

When Emme dons a sparkly bun shirt, some of the kids at school aren't too sure - especially when she wears it again the next day. But Emme likes her choice. The bun is pretty and shimmery and makes her feel and look good. So Emme determines to wear what she likes, regardless of what anyone else thinks.

Note that "The Sparkly Bun" is a picture book in the true sense of the word. As in, no words. The entire story is told in pictures, start to finish. So there's room for individual interpretation here.

This is a cute story that little ones will enjoy.

Cute little story about a little girl being herself and making her own choices of clothes.
However, it’s okay to not to focus too much on weird clothing choices at this age I feel.

Love the illustrations.

Thank you, author, for the advance reading copy.
