When I chose this book to read I hoped I wasn't making a mistake. Why? I would be jumping into a series, but not having read any of the other books first. But I was worrying for nothing, it was great and easy to follow. There is quite a few people that pop up in the story BUT it was so well written it wasn't confusing at all. Add in some great animals as well, especially that one K-9 Greta with her handler Collins. What a great K-9 Greta was, more versatile than anyone expected.
Bree and Matt Flynn are great as a team both personally and professionally. I enjoyed that so much. Even down to Matt being so good with the kids that Bree was raising. That would be Bree's murdered sister's children. That would be 16 year old son, Luke and 6 year old Kayla. They added a richness to the story, as a family and as Bree tries to protect them when they are threatened. Dana has been helping Bree and her family as a nanny but so much more as they view her as family too.
Another "team" that I enjoyed was, Dana and Matt's brother Nolan Flynn. They are good friends who support each other but there's some love sparks there too. I loved that Nolan was a "patient" man about that.
You want a intense story, with surprises as the dangers mount and some romance too? This story has it and was way better than I hope for. The biggest surprise comes towards the end. You'll never guess who is after Dana and why. I always love that in a story. Plus I loved how things ended at the end with all of the families.

Catch Her Death by Melinda Leigh is the seventh entry in her excellent series featuring Sheriff Bree Taggert and her eclectic blended family. Bree and Matt Flynn, her investigative and romantic partner, are on the trail of the killer of a local cosmetic surgeon as well as the vengeful family of Travis Ekin, whom Bree had busted previously. In addition, Bree’s family is being threatened with harm, which increases her stress and commitment to keeping her family safe. The clues pile up, the local police chief Hanover has blinders on, and it is up to Bree and Matt to untangle the mystery of how it is all related and catch the killer, with the help of new K-9 police dog, Greta.
The powerful heart of the series is the interwoven dynamic of Bree’s family—her niece and nephew who she is raising—the warmth and love of their horses, who serve as steady, calming elements-–and the camaraderie of Matt and Bree, as their romance slowly evolves.
While this is a very strong police procedural with plenty of action, it is also an insightful look at the human side of law enforcement personnel and their family life, as loving and complicated as anyone’s, yet hopeful in its simple joys.
I highly recommend this entire series!!

Thank you to Montlake and NetGalley for the ARC. This is my honest review.

Ms. Leigh has done it again. Bree is chasing down killers while trying to keep her family and friends safe. She's not sure who to trust except for her boyfriend Matt. There are some twists and turns. You'll think you have it figured out and then wham, something else happens to throw you off the scent. Lots of action as well, so buckle in and enjoy the ride.

Sheriff Bree Taggart is one of the favourite fmcs I have come across in recent years.

I love that she's a strong woman who supports other women and recognises their strengths but, she's also an amazing boss that inspires loyalty and hard work.

However, in Catch Her Death she has to 'officially' take a step back.

She does this with skill and determination, constantly keeping her eye on the much bigger picture, ensuring this particular investigation is conducted properly.

As you would expect, the case is solved but not before a number of twists, turns and seeming narrowmindedness has to be dealt with.

All in all a great addition to this series.

Catch Her Death is another fast paced, unputdownable suspense by Melinda Leigh.
Travis Ekin's family is angry after Sheriff Bree Taggert arrests him for murder. His whole family is just as dangerous as he is so now she has to watch her back, even more than usual. Then, later that evening her best friend, Dana, finds her new boyfriend murdered in his own home and is then attacked, herself. Since the crime happened in another jurisdiction, Bree isn't familiar with the lead investigator. Before an actual investigation has taken place, he's already zeroing in on Dana as the main suspect. So now, Bree and her investigator boyfriend, Matt, are doing their own investigation, on the down low.
After Bree’s family starts receiving threats, they discover another murder with striking similarlies to the first. Now Bree and Matt are in a race against the clock.

This is book 7 in the brilliant Sherriff Bree Taggart series.

After Sheriff Bree Taggert’s takedown of cold-blooded murderer Travis Ekin, his family vows revenge. Travis’s mother and brothers are every bit as violent, and Bree is in their crosshairs.

To complicate matters, Bree’s best friend, Dana Romano, walks into her date’s home and finds him shot in the chest. Dana tangles with an unidentified intruder, but he escapes through the back door. The crime scene is in another police department’s jurisdiction, and the lead investigator focuses on Dana as the prime suspect.

Can Bree and her team find the killer before they kill again?

I absolutely loved this book and flew three it in two sittings. I totally recommend it to all crime genre fans. I can't wait to read the next one.

Every time I think this series cannot get better a new book is release and I am wrong. This was amazing. I love the plot twist, it really grabbed hold and made me read faster. As usual, great character and writing. Love it and can’t wait for the next one.

Another fantastic book in this series!

I read anything from Melinda Leigh, and especially like the Bree Taggert series. I've enjoyed watching Bree's relationship with the children she gained guardianship over when their parents' died, and also the growing relationship between Matt and Bree. Dana, her former law enforcement partner and nanny to the kids, plays a central role in this book.

Fast-paced, multiple story lines that might eventually converge into one suspect (but you have to read to find out), this story kept me guessing until the very end. Another nice twist to this book is the new possible relationship between Dana and Nolan, Matt's brother. Hopefully to be continued in future books.

Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book, but my opinions are my own.

We're back with Bree and her trusty crew, only this time, it's best friend, Dana. When Dana finds herself intertwined in a murder case, it takes all of her friends and all of her willpower to be on the other side of the law table.

To make matters worse, a resident of the community keeps going missing in the freezing weather and no matter how many times he is found, he finds his way out of the house again.

Then, when Bree finds threats against her and her family in email and at her property, it will take the entire sheriff's department to decipher who's after this family.

It is a twisty novel that has a lot of moving parts. They are all mixed together and intertwined. I really enjoyed this one and liked how everyone had their own story but were all part of the same story too.

Thank you to Montlake and NetGalley for the copy of Catch Her Death by Melinda Leigh
This is the 7th book in the Bree Taggert series.
Bree is threatened by the Ekin family after arresting one of the brothers.
They are bad news and Bree is worrying about her family’s safety.
But is it them she has to worry about? A great book that starts kinda slow and gathers speed quickly.
I would advise reading this series in order to get the most enjoyment.

I really enjoy this author and the way she writes. There are so many twists and turns in this book you seriously can't put it down because you need to find out who the heck the killer is. I definitely had a few guesses, but definitely had the wrong person in the end! Love Bree and Matt together, and Dana and Nolan are my new mystery couple in the attraction department. If you need a good mystery this is your book to read. Very well written and a quick read because you seriously can't put it down. Can't wait for the next installment!

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book.

How on earth have I never read a thing by this bestselling Author before? Obviously I’ve been living under a big rock! I could not put this down and have just covered it end to end in 4 hours. It’s now 3 a.m. and I’m shattered but want to get this review done whilst it’s all still fresh in my mind.

So, I won’t ramble on much around the plot as you can read that in the blurb yourself. What I do want to talk about is how well written this is. This is very good, quality writing. A few things stood out to me. The Author obviously does lots of research into getting things accurate. This covers everything from big details to the smallest. What that does is make the book very realistic and believable. I am really impressed.

The plot is interesting from the start and like I said, I read this over a few hours despite how darn tired I was. It’s not many books that can hook me that much. I loved the characters also, every single one stands alone in their own space. You don’t lose track of who is who and each character has a clear personality. Considering there are quite a few characters here that’s no easy feat.

Sheriff Bree Taggart is one heck of a woman. She can kick ass with the best of us. I love a strong female character but she has her soft side, her weaknesses and a lot of good in her also. Her best friend Dana used to be her partner in crime and has now retired from police work. I’m sure in prior books in the series that their story is covered over time. I had no issue reading this as the first book in a series. The Author puts you in the picture so you don’t know what you are missing. I will definitely be reading more from this Author. She’s written so many books and this is my first. My bad!

With a number of crime scenes and interwoven plot lines the book delivers on a cracking ending and a final reveal that I didn’t see coming. It just kept pulling off another good chapter after another. Did I mention I’m impressed at the level of detail included? The great thing is that it’s not overly done, some Authors write detail to the extent of sheer boredom. This doesn’t happen here. This is attention to detail to put you clearly in the picture. I’m a horse lover and noticed the correct horse breeds included as a tiny example.

This will appeal to a range of readers, not just crime fans. I thoroughly enjoyed this one and am hungry for more books from Melinda Leigh and blimey she’s written a LOT! With oodles of awards and bestsellers I am now no doubt a fan like thousands who got to her before me. Brilliant! Highly recommended and an easy five stars.

Dana Romano, Sheriff Bree Taggert’s former police partner, arrives for her date with a local doctor to find that he has just been shot. She wrestles with the fleeing gunman, but he escapes. Meanwhile, Bree and her partner on the force and in life, civilian investigator Matt Floyd, arrive at a local salvage yard to arrest a murder suspect. They arrive to find the man with cash and drugs and in searching the area find a dead body. As they investigate the two murders, an elderly dementia patient keeps escaping from his home, Bree is receiving email and other threats, and the attack on Dana has left her with a concussion while the area is suffering a winter storm with accidents and road closures. As they work with the local police chief, they realize he believes that Dana killed the doctor. Matt’s brother, Nolan, a former MMA fighter stands ready to protect Dana while Bree and Matt continue to working the cases. Will the identification of the dead body finally give them the clue they need to find the killer? An amazing mystery with twist and turns that will keep you reading until the satisfying end. I don’t even pay attention these days to the blurb or the title when I spot that it’s by Melinda Leigh and it’s in her Bree Taggert series. I’m well beyond auto-buy at this point and would be more shocked if I wasn’t a hundred percent into the latest release- and I was. I tried to hold back and relish it slowly, but nope, I two-sat Catch Her Death.

Catch Her Death is the seventh entry in the Bree Taggert series that is loosely connected to the earlier Scarlett Falls and Morgan Dane series. Each book presents a new case, but carries on the character and relationship development to previous books. And, fun times for Morgan Dane fans, she gets a few solid scenes in this latest.

Catch Her Death has a blockbuster opening when Bree and several members of her department serve a warrant and get a pretty ugly customer off the streets. Yay for Greta the K-9 and Officer Collins’ getting their first big call-in to duty. But, while Bree’s getting threatened by the puss-pocket’s equally evil family members for taking down one of theirs, Dana’s date night ends in a blood bath.

Bree, Matt, the sheriff’s department and their families are all put on alert as danger comes from more than one direction and they have to solve two cases to keep everyone safe. I love that Bree is super good at her job, but she still has step-back moments when she feels the vulnerability of finally having a love life and family- people to care about who are hostages of fate. Matt is standing solid right there with her. In this book, it was grand to also get some scenes from Bree’s ex-detective partner now nanny, Dana getting a chance at happy with Matt’s retired MMA fighting older brother Nolan during a tough, vulnerable time for Dana. I hope to see patient Nolan win her over as the series progresses.

I loved seeing how both cases were whittled away at bit of evidence and witnesses and strong police work including lots of K-9 action along the way. I read this in the height of summer and the biting chill of an upstate NY winter was perfect seasonal setting for cooling me off and causing complications for Bree to save the day.

All in all, I was flipping pages and on a reading terror as the suspense grew steadily to the surprising twist and the big finish. Those who enjoy getting lots of depth with good policing action to their romantic suspense set in a rural county with an engaging cast should give this series a go.

Sheriff Bree Taggert is no stranger to threats, but now her family is being targeted by the vengeful and violent relatives of a man she recently arrested. To make matters worse, her best friend, Dana Romano, walked in on a home invasion at a date's house and was attacked by the intruder. When evidence emerges linking the cases, Bree and her investigator, Matt Flynn, must find a dangerous criminal before they strike again.

While the action is non-stop from the start and there are several intense and exciting scenes, the mystery elements are lacking. To begin with, there are very few suspects and not a lot of evidence, which makes the investigation rather banal. Moreover, the case is ultimately solved by luck <spoiler>the identification of the LPN's body in the trunk</spoiler>rather than skill.

That said the character development is wonderful, especially for Dana and Matt's brother Nolan. In addition, the appearances by Morgan Dane, Lance Kruger, and their brood, is an added bonus. Morgan's ability to <spoiler>shred Chief Hanover's case</spoiler> is a stellar moment in the book.

Overall, another entertaining installment, and now it is time to wait until May 2024 for the next book.

Another great installment in the Bree Taggert series!! I'm upset I finished it so fast because now I have to wait again for the next book!

I've come to really love this series - the found family continues to grow and the mysteries continue to keep me on my toes! I really liked how this one was more centered around Dana - the plot definitely keeps you guessing and the relationships just give you a sense of ease and comfort.

Read it in one sitting! Absolutely loved this one. It hit on so many levels. Bree Taggert feels like a friend, someone I know. You care about her, her family and of course her signifcant other, (not legally) Matt. This one has Dana (her ex partner from Philly and her current live in house keeper and child watcher) front and center. For the first time I got chills understanding how innocent people can go to jail, Melinda Leigh did her due diligence sharing the information on what can happen to K-9's in service. That had me gulping. Watching Bree grow, her relationship with Matt. Her team, Dana, the kids it is such a fantastic read. It provides suspense, family, twist, relationships, K-9 and really delivers on all the feels from good to bad. Thank you for the arc! I freely volunteer my thoughts and opinions. # CatchHerDeath #BreeTaggert #MelindaLeigh #Montalke #NetGalley

Catch Her Death is the seventh book in Melinda Leigh’s Bree Taggert Series. This is a romantic suspense novel (heavy on the suspense) with a great storyline and fantastic characters.

Dana Romano becomes the prime suspect in the death of her “friend” with benefits. Sheriff Bree Taggert, Dana’s best friend, and criminal investigator Matt Flynn must work together to prove her innocence while working to discover who is behind the threats to Bree’s family. Can they find the answers before someone they love faces off against a killer? Read it and find out.

As with all of the books in this series, I couldn’t put this book down. Leigh is a phenomenal writer who uses each book in the series to show the growing relationship between Matt and Bree. Each book also introduces a new budding relationship between secondary characters which helps to draw the reader in and leave them craving more. I can’t wait to read the next book to see the progression of all the relationships, both friendly and romantic.

I don't know how the author comes up with all her ideas and still manages to keep me so invested in Bree and her family, but she does! This chapter finds Dana a lot more involved in the cases that come Bree's way, and they definitely hit closer to home again, which is no surprise. It seems like someone is always out to threaten Bree and the people she loves. Action pact, emotional, thrilling, and I loved seeing how close they are all getting and the healing that is happening all around. I don't know what I will do when the author is done with all of these interconnected stories!

I previously binge-read this series and was impatiently waiting for this release. Catch Her Death is the 7th book in the Bree Taggert series, with at least 2 more installments scheduled to come in 2024 and 2025. I am one who always reads a series in order so that I can follow along as the characters and their relationships evolve. I love a good police procedural and this one did not disappoint. A real page-turner as Sheriff Bree Taggert and her "partner" Matt Flynn try to investigate multiple murders, one outside of their jurisdiction. Are the two murders connected? I highly recommend the Bree Taggert series written by Melinda Leigh as well as her Morgan Dane series.

I received an eARC from the publisher and NetGalley. All opinions are my own.
