Coastal Kitchen is a cookbook that focuses on seafood with a few non-seafood recipes. It looks like there are a lot of great recipes in the book and the added benefit is that each recipe has a photo. Images of the food is always helpful.

This cookbook is as beautiful as it is informative. I think being able to eat well is important and why not get a few recipes that take good, also.

We started with the Scallop salad with bacon vinaigrette and wow was it good. This was a wonderful salad I will go back to again and again. Perfect summer lunch! So many lovely recipes with easy to find ingredients. The photos are beautiful. What a wonderful book.

A super delicious collection of seafood recipes from an obvious master of cooking them! Many of these recipes will join my fish and shellfish recipe shelf.

Being in Texas, when I think "coastal," I think "Gulf of Mexico." This book is geared more towards the East Coast. The first chapter is all about lobster, which is more of a luxury food for us and not an every day meal (is it an every day meal on the East Coast?). There's also a chapter on kelp. Is that an East Coast thing, too? I wouldn't purchase this for my library, because my users just generally aren't the audience for it. However, I wish I could just take the chapters on shrimp, scallops, salmon, and white fish, because there are some delicious-looking recipes in there! The recipes seem to be very simple and accessible. I would recommend this book to readers/home chefs in the regions where the recipes make more sense, and maybe the author will branch out and do a Gulf Coast version for us Southerners!

Coastal Kitchen is a wonderful collection of seafood recipes, it is a must buy for anyone who likes seafood or is interested in making some healthier food choices. I appreciate the emphasis on health that the author put on this book. She is a registered dietician, has her masters in nutrition and public health, and very obviously loves seafood. If I was going to trust anyone on what I should be eating, it would be her. The chapters are grouped by meat, so the book is very easy to navigate. Each chapter starts with the background, health benefits, and tips on storing each seafood item. I learned quite a bit about different kinds of seafood that I had not ever read about before. The recipes all have a bright and colorful photo with them that all look so appetizing. There are some old favorite recipes and then some really unique ideas that would be great to try. Toward the back of the book there are some non-seafood sides that all sound great and are super healthy. A few desserts finish off this book that to me all looked like “fancier” desserts that you would want to make if you were trying to impress someone. Overall this is a great cookbook with some very tasty looking recipes.

You can't get fresher than this!

In her introductory chapter, the author, Jenny Shea Rawn, confesses to loving her family vacations on Cape Cod every summer: it was there that she was introduced to many varieties of fish - freshly caught and simply prepared.

In Fact, Jenny Shea Rawn and her husband bonded over their memories of Cape Cod, and eventually decided to make it their permanent home.

Whether you prefer shrimp over crab or lobster, or enjoy salmon or a juicy fish fry, this book will likely provide you with the guidance and instructions you need to get your choice to the table so that you can commence your personal feast!

The recipes in this book always encourage you to use the freshest fish available. The author has included a variety of sauces and spices to help you change things up a bit. I was impressed by the author's versatility.

My thanks to the author, her publisher and NetGalley for an ARC of this truly excellent seafood cookbook that will leave you salivating for the real deal! 5 stars for this excellent resource!

You should catch the amazing pictures of the finished products in this mouthwatering cookbook. Unfortunately, due to copyright restrictions, I cannot use any of those pictures here.

I love simple, well prepared fish, and this cookbook delivers just that!

Being the good Pacific Northwesterner that I am, I adore seafood--so I jumped on the chance to read this!

Oh boy. I wasn't hungry--and then I started reading. This cookbook is mouthwateringly good, and 100% made me hungry!

Of course, being a PNWer reading an East Coaster's (and Cape Cod at that) cookbook--there's a bit of divergence between us regarding seasonal availability, tastes/palates, and regional prep/norms. But that can absolutely be good, shaking things up a bit and challenging me, at least! I also entirely needed the "X Seafood 101" sections to learn all about how to source and prep all this deliciousness. (Even if Rawn did use Vidalia onions ... ::cough::Walla Walla for the win!::cough::

I geeked out a bit that Rawn is a registered dietitian; thanks to the pandemic (and, granted, Chris Hemsworth's Centr app), I've been eating a lot more healthily and paying more attention to the nutrition end of things. Her insights here, and general approach to food and clean ingredients, were helpful and appreciated!

The seasonal "seacuterie" boards, and other seasonal recipes/ideas, were also great--innovative and inspirational. Can't wait for some salmon and cranberry sauce this holiday season!

I received an eARC of the book from the publisher via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

Anything about seafood and I’m all in 😍 I can’t wait to try every recipe. This book was well written and the pictures are beautiful!

This is one of the best cookbooks I have seen in a while! There is a photo for every single recipe, which is a HUGE deal for me. And not only are their photos, they are gorgeous photos that will have your mouth watering, and you will want to whip together all of these simple, fresh, and heart-healthy dishes. If you love seafood, this cookbook is a must buy. The variety of recipes for each type of fish is wonderful, and there are even sections for “seacuterie” boards, holiday recipes (Seafood Wreath), desserts (Baked Brie with Pumpkin Butter & Walnuts), and side dishes, salads, and appetizers to compliment the seafood recipes (Summer Panzanella Salad with Burrata). I can’t wait to try the Grilled Shrimp Lettuce Wraps, Shrimp Scampi with Spinach, Shrimp and Couscous Salad, Buttered Lobster Avocado Toast, Lobster Grilled Cheese, and the Scallop Salad with Bacon Vinaigrette. You cannot go wrong with this cookbook; it will make the perfect addition to your cookbook collection!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Thank you Globe Pequot and @NetGalley for the advanced copy of this book!

This cookbook would be a seafood lover's dream. I liked how the recipes are organized by seafood type, and there is good advice for purchasing good quality seafood in each section. The recipes are fairly uncomplicated and are common seafood dishes, but there are some interesting recipes I'd not heard of before. Not surprisingly (given the author's location), most recipes seem to favor New England recipes and seafood varieties. For example, there's a wealth of excellent seafood recipes that originate in Louisiana (e.g., etouffee, gumbo, po boys) yet they're ignored here.

In particular, I loved that each recipe was accompanied by a good-sized photo of the dish. This is a quality that I find very important in a cookbook, as the visual impression of a dish is often overlooked. Photos illustrate the mouth-watering dishes that I'd love to try.

Thank you NetGalley and Globe Pequot for sending this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own.

Anyone who loves seafood will want to pick up Coastal Kitchen: Nourishing Seafood Recipes for Everyday Cooking by Jenny Shea Rawn, who is a registered dietician, recipe developer, food photographer, blogger, and food writer. She knows her stuff, because this excellent cookbook has dozens of mouthwatering recipes that will appeal to everyone.

Most of the recipes are fairly easy with short lists of ingredients. While many of the recipes are simple, many are innovative and not-your-everyday-boring-seafood. The recipes are written in the traditional manner with the ingredients listed first, followed by step-by-step instructions, which makes it easy for both beginning and advanced cooks. There is also good information to help those who are new at cooking seafood.

Many of the recipes are pictured with professional, beautiful photographs; it will be difficult to choose which recipe to make next.

The cookbook is divided up into chapters according to seafood types including salmon, lobster and other shellfish, scallops, and different types of fish, and also has a chapter on sauces and condiments to complement the seafood. Also included are non-seafood side dishes to serve with your favorite seafood recipes, as well as a few tempting New England desserts.
One unique addition to this cookbook is several “Seacuterie” boards. Since are boards are the latest craze, the boards are a trendy addition.

While this may not be a “seafood bible,” it has enough good recipes and information to belong on any cookbooks shelf. The recipes turn out well, and readers will find new things to cook every time they peruse the book.

Special thanks to NetGalley for supplying a review copy of this book.

As an ocean girl, I’m always looking for great coastal recipes that don’t fall into the typical clam chowder or lobster roll categories. Coastal Kitchen fit that bill perfectly! Right off the bat, it gave us interesting recipes for common seafood! I can’t wait to try the Lobster Caprese Salad recipe! If you’re a fan of seafood, this cookbook will be a dream!

Do you want to add more salmon to your diet? Do you want to try more complicated recipes for shrimp? Do you want to learn how to cook mussels? Coastal Kitchen, more than a cookbook, belongs on your shelf. No only is it full of beautifully photographed recipes, it includes guides to purchasing fresh fish. What should it look like, feel like, smell like? How do you store it? How long can you store it before cooking? And, when cooking, how can you tell it is done? These details will appeal to beginning and experienced cooks alike. The recipes all have personal descriptions. Mimi’s (the author’s mother)Tuna salad is one of my favorites. It uses canned tuna and the finished sandwich is stuffed with potato chips. If you want fancier, tru Sweet Citrus and Spice Salmon. Coastal Kitchen is a chef’s delight. 5 stars.

Thank you to NetGalley, Globe Pequot and Jenny Shea Rawn for this ARC.

I recently had the pleasure of reading and cooking from the cookbook Coastal Kitchen. This is a that Cookbook CelebratesFish and Shellfish, written by Jenny Shea Rawn. This cookbook is a true gem for seafood lovers and home cooks alike.

One of the things I appreciated most about this cookbook is how it highlights the bounty of seafood found on the coast of Cape Cod. The recipes are organized by type of seafood, from scallops to lobster to halibut, and include classic preparations and creative new twists.

The instructions for each recipe are clear and easy to follow, and the accompanying photographs are absolutely stunning. I found myself getting excited to try every recipe as I flipped through the pages.

In addition to the recipes, the cookbook also includes helpful information on selecting and preparing seafood. The author is not only a talented chef but also a true expert on all things seafood.

Overall, I highly recommend Coastal Kitchen to anyone who loves seafood and wants to learn how to prepare it in new and delicious ways. Whether you're a seasoned chef or a beginner in the kitchen, this cookbook will inspire you to try something new and create a memorable meal for yourself and your loved ones.

Fresh seafood recipes at their finest. It’s like a Julia Child cookbook for seafood. Anything you might need to know about fresh seafood preparation. I think less helpful for those dealing with frozen seafood products. If you live where fresh seafood is abundant, this is a nice resource.

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest opinions.

Really great recipes, very simple, clear instructions on how to cook each type of fish/shellfish covered in the book, and nice pictures. The author lives on Cape Cod, where I grew up, and as soon as she mentioned razor clams, I knew she had a deep knowledge of fish. Only those who know shellfish know how great razor clams are!

With a wide variety of recipes, ranging from simple steamed clams, to poke salmon bowls, this book really has something for everyone. Jenny also lists recipes for complementary recipes, such as cocktail sauce, tarter sauce, and even desserts! Very well rounded cookbook!

Thank you Netgalley and Globe Pequot for the ARC!
