Lion of Twilight by Kathryn Le Veque will keep you spellbound and interested as it takes you on a rollercoaster ride that weaves a story of greed, suspense and family unity. Kathryn Le Veque has written a story that's filled with a great cast of characters that will hold your attention as their individual personalities become more than just part of the tale they come off the pages and pull you in into the story, as always of sizzling passion. The book flowed well from one subject to another without being forced, and the plot brims with tension building twist and turns. With setting descriptions and action sequences that are wonderfully vivid that brings the story to life and as the unrest escalates the suspense builds and uncertainties abound which brings this read together perfectly!

I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and am voluntarily offering an honest review.

Lovely story. Rio has just lost his son. After much herranging Rio had bethrothed Beckett to Robin's daughter, Diara. On Beckett's death Robin zips off to ask Rio's father Christopher to provide a different de Lohr son or grandson. Rio is livid at Robin's crass behaviour and says if anyone's going to marry Diara, it would be him.

Diara is pleased to be marrying a more mature man rather than the juvenile, arrogant Beckett. Good romance and then Rio has to deal with big betrayal.

Entertaining Medieval Romance

Diara’s father pestered Roi until he promised that his son would wed his daughter; however, Roi’s son died, so Roi agreed to wed Diara in his son’s stead. There is an age gap between the hero and heroine, but they fall in love because unlike us, love does not understand the meaning of age. When Roi agreed to wed Diara, he had no idea he would fall in love. Neither did she realize she would fall with a man much older than she was. Sadly, lies and rumors followed Diara, and Roi found himself having to defend her. However, the two did not realize that the worst was yet to come. There would be treachery and deadly danger. Could the newlyweds survive what was to come? Who was it that intended them harm, and why?

This is excellent medieval romance as only Le Veque can tell it. She has a way of telling medieval tales unlike any other. Once you get involved in the families she writes about, you want to read all their stories; I know I do.

To start, I'm very biased, I've never read a Kathryn Le Veque book that I haven't loved. I read Rise of the Defender at least once a year so I'm very partial to Christopher and is story. This means I'm partial to his children.

Roi's story had the ability to be wonderful of well written or creepy of poorly written. To be honest, I was nervous because I wanted this to be a wonderful book, but a man marrying his deceased son's intended bride could easily go bad. Kathryn however turned it into a beautiful story of love, loss, and forgiveness. She created a story that was elegant and made you want the happiness of our hero and heroine above all else.

I highly recommend this book and will read it again!

I just reviewed Lion of Twilight by Kathryn Le Veque. #LionofTwilight #NetGalley

This was definitely a love story for the ages! Kathryn always writes stories that pull all the emotions out of us each time we read one of her stories. Parts can be brutal, yet she gives us humor, tears, second chances, and gives us the best love stories.
I loved this story and reading about one of Christopher de Lohr's sons. Thank goodness there are so many more sons and grandsons to write about. I love your stories Kathryn!

I loved this smoldering age-gap romance!

Yet another outstanding book that reminds me why Kathryn Le Veque is the Queen of Medieval Romance! Widowed Roi agrees to a marriage between his son and his friend's daughter, but when his son dies his "friend" still expects him to fulfill the marriage contract.

Diara is very clever and shrewd, wise beyond her years, and even she recognizes what a weasel her father is. I really loved her character, her charming determination to do what's right and stand up for herself.

Roi is one of the most romantic heroes ever. He may be grieving too much at first to allow his heart to open up to his new wife, but he never wavers in his steadfast loyalty and leadership. When she tried to pull back because of the baggage she brought to his doorstep, his response nearly had me swooning on the floor! "I want to protect you. I want your burdens to be mine. I want to feel needed, because I most certainly need you."

I love even the battle scenes, and I especially love the swift and sure administration of justice. I adored the way his family rose to the occasion, despite a few hiccups along the way, and I loved the way Diara connected with Roi's young daughters. The HEA and epilogue were perfect in every way.

If you love timeless devotion set in the medieval world of knights of honor, then you need to grab this book. I can't recommend it highly enough. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

A wonder story filled with all the emotions that this author always pulls out with her heartfelt writing! Yes even in Medieval times, which were brutal and hard, love can find a way!!

Starting with a tragedy, but a journey that will bring two people together, will keep you turning the pages and not able to stop until the end!

Well-written and exciting, this romance opens with a tragedy that evolves into a beautiful love story, one that is almost destroyed due to the greed and duplicity of grasping men. Roi has lost his only and most beloved son, but that does not stop the grasping father of Lady Diara le Bec from demanding that the marriage contract is honored. Roi de Lohr has already lost everything that is important to him and he sees no reason to refuse marriage to the Earl's beautiful daughter. The author brings out the brutality and harshness of medieval England, including the plotting that would bring about the demise of a good man. However, retribution is swift and decisive, freeing more than one individual from a miserable life. Roi and Diara's future seemed uncertain at one point but ultimately they gain more than they lose. I received a copy of this exciting and page-turning novel as a gift through Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley and this is my honest and voluntary review.

Roi de Lohr has had a life of tragedy. Harassed by an allied father, he gives in and marries his daughter. The one that was suppose to be his son's wife. It's love at first sight for Roi, but her father takes revenge when Roi's retaliation for a slight is physical. Roi is lured into a trap and Christopher de Lor takes his revenge. A book that keeps you quickly turning the page for more.
Some descriptive sex.

Roi de Lohr has been a very blessed man. A son, daughters and a wife he loved and lost too soon. Negotiating a marriage contract for his son-during battle-was the next step to further his family and hopefully his son’s happiness.
Diara had not had an easy life. Her foster family’s hatred went beyond acceptable behavior for anyone. When she met her betrothed she accepted him as the next phase in a life that was not under her control. When Beckett died, she realized that she was in limbo. However, her father was enraged. So angry, that his actions began the rift between he and the House of de Lohr.
Diara and Roi may not be a conventional couple, but, the story of their love and their fight for it was a fun and intense read.

🌟🌟🌟🌟
This book is so good, heart warming and has great nuggets of wisdom. It deals with death of an adult child, arranged marriage, politics, battles, age gap arranged marriages and a romance that warms the heart. Wgilst touching on such heavy topics, it never drags you heavily, its a very easy read, a worthy read. This is the first book by this author that I've read but now I have to read them all, I lived the book so much. It is part of a series however I had no problems in reading as a standalone thankfully.

I love this authors books and this was an excellent story. You normally hear about the Wolfe's family, but I'm glad to read about Chris's children. Roi was grieiving his lost son, Beckett, and didn't know how to cope. But then he stepped in for his son with his betrothed, this is where the story gets interesting and deadly. Betrayal, fighting and danger. There are not enough stars to rate this book, Fantastic. HEA.

Lion of Twilight by Kathryn Le Veque is another of her long line of hit medieval romance novels. This one focused on Christopher de Lohr’s second son, Richard, known as Roi. Roi is adjudicator who solves legal problems both for his king and locally. He has seen forty summers, lost his wife fourteen years ago, and has just heard word that he has lost his only son. His grief is deep. He rides to tell his parents, Christopher and Dustin, instructing his staff to bring Beck’s body to Lioncross Abbey for burial. Roi had allowed himself to be nagged into a betrothal for his son, Becket to Lady Diara le Bec by her father. It was a good match, but one Becket didn’t particularly want, or any betrothal for that matter. Now Lady Diara’s father must be notified of Beck’s death, which he did. When he arrived at Lioncross Abbey he discovered that Robin le Bec was already demanding, loudly, that the betrothal be made good, with a substitute de Lohr groom. Roi was beyond furious that Robin had behaved so and let him know, but instead of sacrificing any of his brothers or nephews, he assumed the betrothal himself and left to meet his intended. He had seen her when he took Beck to meet her, but had not spent any time with her. What he discovered was an amazing young woman half his age.

No one can write a romance like leVeque. Roi was a wonderful character, a true de Lohr: brave, handsome, and intelligent. A well-written characters. Diara had a reputation and not a good one. She was beautiful and outgoing. Jealous women when she fostered made her out to be little better than a whore. She didn’t want Roi to have his reputation endangered over her. By the time she told him. It was too late, he was infatuated. The story took a turn toward the end, endangering Roi but as always his family and a friend intervened. She was a much better person than her father as it turned out. Even his wife was glad to be rid of him. The plot took twists and turns before the end in which Roi and Diara lived a long and happy life and had many children, as is always the case with le Veque’s novels. A welcome addition to the de Lohr sage.

4.5*
My favourite so far (not the series it’s new, book from this author) I loved the characters especially Roi and Diana. But all the secondary ones as well. I love the huge families and their history that forms the foundation of these stories.

The blurb more than covers everything so it’s just my opinion you’re getting. And it’s good, if you like this author and her books then this is a must. I enjoyed it so much I read it in one sitting.

Not 5*?
Very, very close I am very stingy with my stars after all.

I voluntarily read a review copy kindly provided by the publisher and NetGalley.

Contracts, Deception, Betrayal, Family:
Wow!  Definitely deserves more than 5 stars. This story and characters blew me away. I can't say enough about the in-depth emotions this author brings to the reader. You better have your tissue box handy.
The story begins with a happy betrothal but then soon that cannot be fulfilled. Family challenges change to a very disturbing and unwanted betrothal. Or is it really?  A dynamic story awaits from this point on.
This story becomes a learning curve for Roi and Diara. We follow the two through many beautiful situations, along with disastrous anger that has vicious flames shooting off the pages, several heartfelt sweet honest confessions and a bit of humor throughout that takes us into an extremely terrifying conclusion and a happy ending.
I loved this story and I highly recommend any book by this author. They are always dynamic stories.

Richard "Roi" de Lohr was pestered into betrothing his son to the daughter of an acquaintance. A tragedy will change everything.

Diara le Bec has a reputation for being overly friendly with men, but it's only because the women she has known didn't want to be friends with her.

In this medieval romance we meet lots of old friends from previous books by this author. You will need a huge box of tissues because there is a lot of emotion. As with any large family the high spirits or sadness will eventually lead to fights and giggles. Our characters are absolutely fantastic and you can't help falling in love with them. As usual from this author ,I couldn't put the book down.

I loved it.

Lion of Twilight by Kathryn LeVeque is an exceptional book. Roi and Diara are perfect for each other. They meet and are immediately drawn to each other.. They are both strong characters that work well together.. The book is rich in characters from previous novels. Kathryn has made another keeper.
I received a copy of the book from Netgalley. It in no way has a bearing on my review.

This is a good book, especially as the pace picks up. Honestly I wasn't so sure at first and now I just want to read more. The characters, Roi and Diara, were well-written. Even side characters leave you wanting more. I haven't read books by this author much lately. But this book has me adding more to my TBR pile.

I received this book from NetGalley and Dragonblade Publishing for an honest review.
