I always enjoy Nora Roberts writing. She is so consistent and her pace is easy to read and comforting to read. This novel, Inheritance, was just as enjoyable as many I’ve read in the past but there was something that stuck with me after I was done reading. Maybe it was the ghostly tales, or the romance between Sonya and Trey? I’m not sure, but I thought about this book for a long while after I was finished and really wished that I’d read it when books 2 and 3 were available for me to dive into immediately. Regardless of that lack, I so enjoyed this novel!
Who doesn’t want to inherit a fabulous old manor and a little bit of cash? Especially after breaking off a relationship with a deadbeat fianceé? Sonya was up for the challenge but she is a realist and needed her best friend with magical Louisiana roots to become her roommate and help her get to know her new ghostly friends.. and enemies. Sonya’s adventures while getting to know who each of these ghosts were added to the fun of reading this story as each reveal added another piece to the puzzle. Her attraction to Trey who basically grew up in that manor visiting her uncle made this book even more attractive to me. Handsome hero, mysterious inheritance, getting to know your new family? Check, check, and check! This book kept ticking all of my boxes.
If you’re a fan of Nora Roberts, then you are going to love this book. I think most anyone will find this an enjoyable read but there are always those one or two who don’t like popular stories just to be difficult. Maybe even those difficult readers will like this book. I thought it was a lot of fun, had a great romance, but even more importantly the story about Sonya and her family was the heart of the story. I really couldn’t put it down once I picked this one up.

I adore Nora's fantasy series she's written the past few years, but there is something about the comfort of the feel of her older series. Inheritance brings just that. Sonya MacTavish is a graphic designer who comes into a surprise inheritance just as her life feels like it's crumbling around her in Boston. Seeing this as a good time to try going out on her own, she moves to the coast of Maine to live in the mansion she has inherited. What she doesn't know at the time of the move is that said mansion is haunted.
The setting of this book is absolute perfection. The coast of Maine is a dream for me, personally, and Nora really brings the cozy feel of the place as Sonya settles in the old, rambling house as winter descends. The house itself is its own character. There are hints of the delight of Bumblebee from the Transformers series as this loyal house plays music to communicate with Sonya. Of course, there is a handsome lawyer and found family in the small town. There is a stunning library, adorable canines, and a feminine feel to the book. Plus, there is a mystery throughout. All in all, this is a fantastic read that was tough to put down. I want so much more from this series and am only sad that we have to wait for book two. I highly recommend this one to anyone looking for some mystery, romance, and a subtle paranormal feel. You will love this one!

I have been an avid Nora Roberts reader for many years, and this first book in the series has a lot of the elements that have made her paranormal romances really great. There's a wide host of characters, all intertwining their lives together, a practical yet sweet romance, plenty of mystery and intrigue. I always love seeing how her characters support one another and have their own lives but somehow manage to come all together. There is a tremendous amount of backstory, as well as parallel or repeating storylines that make the book feel a bit too busy. There was a cadence to the writing that felt different, a bit choppy, but it overall added to the atmosphere of the house and the book itself. Be warned, that this ends on quite a dramatic cliffhanger and is not the type of book that can be easily read on its own. I look forward to reading the rest of the books in the series! Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to provide my honest review.

The queen can do no wrong!! My mom turned me on to NR several years ago and she's just such a classic. Highly enjoyed this one.

I absolutely love Nora Roberts' paranormal romance mysteries and this first book in her Lost Brides Trilogy sets the stage for another great series. There is plenty of mystery in the new manor house that Sonya MacTavish has inherited from an unknown relative.
Long lost twins, separated at birth, plus many generations of new brides who tragically have died on their wedding days and appear to haunt the home are just a few of the issues that Sonya finds when she heads to Poole's Bay, Maine to investigate her inheritance. She falls in love with Lost Bride Manor and feels a connection as she explores and settles in to her new life in Maine. Eventually the "haunted" house goes from a playful situation to one that becomes more and more dangerous.
Nora's descriptions throughout the book are so thorough that I often felt that I could picture the house and the people. She slowly drags us into the meat of the story and then everything jumps into overdrive, leading us into the paranormal edge of the story. I can't wait to read the next book!
I received an ARC of the book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion.

Sonya has just broken up with her cheating fiance and quit her job to freelance at her graphic design business when she finds out that her uncle left her an inheritance. An uncle she knew nothing about as her late father was adopted and an only child. But even though he never knew he had a twin brother, they had a strange connection that led him to paint an old Victorian manor house... the house she apparently now owns if she agrees to live there for three years. When she arrives, she finds out that the house is haunted and there is a curse on women in her family that seven of them died on their wedding day, their rings taken. As these women reach out to her through music and dreams, she is compelled to help them break the curse and rid the house of its evil presence.
I've read so many of Nora Roberts' books and I was so excited to get an early copy of this one. I loved every bit of it from the beautiful old house full of undiscovered antiques, the friendly ghosts that act as housekeeping and music djs, the bubbly and cheerful best friend, and the calm and steady hot lawyer Trey. And that gorgeous library, lol! With a cliffhanger ending like that I'm anxiously anticipating the next book in the series!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Roberts continues to captivate readers everywhere. From epic romance to heartbreaking revelations, The Inheritance is a masterful telling of family secrets that grabs the attention from start to finish. Escape into a tale of life, love and family.

I admit it took me a little while to get into this book. The prologue is a bit of a gruesome start. The first chapter in which Sonya learns her fiancé is not a stand up guy didn’t help to draw me in. But once we learn about a mansion in Maine and Sonya arrives to live there, I was fully engaged.
The characters come alive, even the ghosts.
I am intrigued by this curse and Sonya being the one who needs to break it. And I was aghast at where the author chooses to end the tale. I know another is coming, but since this book is barely released it will be a long wait.
The narrator is great. I enjoyed listening.
Thanks to Netgalley, MacMillan Audio and St. Martin’s Press for the chance to start a new series by Nora Roberts. I recommend it.

What a kickoff to a new trilogy! Make sure you carve out some time to read this one as you won't want to put it down. There are so many things that I like about this story. Sonja is a feisty character. Her friendship with Cleo is enviable, everyone should be so lucky. She and Trey fit together as a couple perfectly too. Add in the fun side characters, a haunted house, lots of friendly spirits, a really wicked ghost and a mystery to solve and you have a perfect escape. The words paint such vivid pictures as you read them. I felt totally immersed in the story. And the ending has left me anxiously awaiting the next book. I received an advance copy from NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Sonya MacTavish a soon to be bride discovers that her soon to be groom is cheating on her with her cousin. only to discover about herself that she really didn't love him anyway! Just when she is trying to figure things out, she learns she has an uncle she never knew about leaves her everything including a mansion in Maine and great wealth. The stipulation is she must live at the mansion for three years to keep it all. She packs her bags and moves to the quaint town in Maine.
Trey, the lawyer who meets her and is a close family friend, gives her the tour and the reality that the mansion is indeed haunted. She soon finds out the history behind the curse of her inheritance. Bumps in the night, doors slamming, music playing are all part of the bargain. Sonya loves the house and is starting to love the new lawyer that keeps hanging around to help. Collin Poole her uncle she never knew had quite the history, and she is determined to discover why the house remains haunted as well as where are all the wedding rings from the lost brides have gone. With a new dog Yoda, a best friend who moves in, and family she is excited to get to know, the hunt is on! Doesn't hurt that a new love could be on the horizon with Trey as he helps solve the puzzles ahead.
Nora Roberts never disappoints with a good story, and this one hit the spot! The chemistry between Trey and Sonya seems quick, but who doesn't love a little romance. The ghosts are very playful so far, and I look forward to the next installment for more answers. A great start to a new series.
Thank you for the arc of this delightful read.

This is the first book of Nora Roberts The Lost Bride Trilogy and it was a good start and makes you want to read the next in the trilogy. Sonya was not having a stellar year for sure. She had left work early to find her fiancé in bed with her cousin so wedding called off. Then she found out that her father had a twin brother that he didn’t know about. Well, come to find out good ole Uncle Collin leaves his mansion in Maine to Sonya. Lo and behold it is a haunted mansion and she must live there for three years for it to be truly hers.
This is a truly paranormal book with things moving, noises unexplained, typically ghostly actions and of course some romance. Waiting impatiently for the next in this trilogy!
I received this ARC from Netgalley for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I am a sucker for a beautiful cover and this cover screamed at me "Read me"! After reading Inheritance I can clearly see why Nora Roberts' stories have such wide appeal and such faithful audience. My biggest complaint is that having gone through this read in a weekend, now I'm stuck waiting who knows how long for the next 2 books.
After her life takes some unexpected turns, Sonya finds herself moving to a haunted mansion left to her by an uncle she never knew she had. Life that awaits her on the shore of Poole's Bay will have her learning about her family's history in ways she never expected. Ghosts good and bad, a family curse, brides that died under mysterious circumstances - is it all a bit more than she bargained for?
Sonya's tough as nails and her attitude towards this inheritance, as well as her friendship with Cleo were enough to keep me entertained but a haunted mansion, new beginnings, moments of humour were what kept me breezing through this one. This felt like such a great vacation read - the kind of mind escape you grab when you want to disconnect from the reality. If you're an impatient reader like me, you'll both love and dread the big cliffhanger at the end. I will most certainly be reading the rest of the trilogy.
A big thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for proving me with an ARC in exchange for na honest review!

Inheritance by Nora Roberts is the first in the Lost Brides Trilogy. I cannot wait for the next book! We’ve got a beautiful seaside mansion and a curse that affects the first born bride of each generation. Combine that with a sizzling romance, cute pups and small-town charm and you’ve got the makings for a perfect book date. Grab your hot cocoa and curl up with Inheritance.
I absolutely love curling up with Roberts’s paranormal trilogies. While her books follow a formula, she brings fresh stories and new couples to hook me every time. In Inheritance we meet Boston graphic designer, Sonya MacTavish, whose world turns upside down and sideways again. I will let you discover what happens to her, because things get better when she learns her late father had a twin and he’s left her a Victorian house on the Maine coast! Why doesn’t this happen to me?
Of course, there are rules. She needs to live in residence for at least three years, but the estate is well provided for. Did I mention the house is haunted? I loved the mansion and all that we discovered inside. Well, all but what is on the third floor creating a fuss.
The suspenseful story about the Poole Bride curse, and the haunting happens alone, made me giddy and eager to read more. Then we have a dashing lawyer and his a loveable dog, a charming coastal town and a bestie who will pick up and move with you. The ghosts…. Let me tell you I need a few of them to pack their bags and come here. I promise to treat them well.
I loved the story from beginning to end and cannot wait to see how Sonya and her friends will break the curse. Of course, Roberts left off with a cliffhanger that has me counting the days until next November.
Fans of paranormal romance, ghosts, curses and swoon-worthy good guy romances will want to scoop this up. Seriously, grab some hot cocoa, start a fire and enjoy!

First book in The Lost Bride Trilogy:
Sonya receives a visit from an attorney stating she inherited a home from her late uncle Collin Poole, whom she didn't know she had. Collin Poole was her late fathers twin and since her father was adopted, he died never knowing his brother, or did he?
Since Sonya just came out of a toxic broken engagement, working with her ex became more toxic so she decided to leave her job working in digital art designing websites for companies and freelance working for herself. She felt this is the perfect time to go to Maine and see the Manor her uncle left her and research that side of her family.
Once in Maine, Sonya is met by Trey, the son of her uncle's attorney to give her a tour through the Manor and he ends up providing her with history of her uncle since his family was very close to Collin Poole. Sonya finds out the Manor is known as The Lost Bride Manor and has other occupants other than herself as well as a curse.
I love the characters and this book, a very easy, and hard to put down.
I recommend this book to anyone looking for a wonderful entertaining read.
Thank you NetGalley for the advanced digital copy in exchange for my honest review.

I need ghosts to clean my house just like the manor in this book! There were a lot of fun entertaining quirks in this book, but oh it definitely set up for the next book with a doozy of a cliffhanger.
Sonya breaks things off with her cheating fiance and ends up going freelance due to her work relationship with her ex. She then finds out about the inheritance of a long lost uncle and twin of her dad. The catch is to move into the house, which has quite the history of the lost brides.
This was definitely a fun series beginning book since we learn about a lot of the lost brides and others in the family that died. There are so many spirits in the house, but some are quite fun like one that always finds the right song to play, the housekeeper that cleans and lights the fires, and someone to play fetch with the dog.
Sonya meets sexy lawyer Trey, so there is a fun romance along with all the spooky. The characters are starting to roll with all of the crazy happenings, but will they find the lost brides' rings before something badhappens to someone else?
This book is a mash-up of historical fiction, suspense, and romance. I can't wait for the continuation of the story.
Thank you to St. Martin's Press and Netgalley for providing me a copy of this ARC for my honest review.

The first book in a new trilogy from best-selling author Nora Roberts, this read had me spellbound and on the edge of my seat. There's romance, mystery, fantasy, and a great setting. The story follows Sonya as she finds she has an uncle that both she and her family didn’t know about. She inherits his manor but must move there to fulfill the terms of the will. Sonya finds herself caught up in a mystery of ghosts and a curse that affects all of the women of the direct descendants of her lineage. She is determined to help solve the mystery and end the curse with the help of her uncle's lawyer and his family and her best friend. Already anxiously awaiting part 2 of this trilogy! Highly recommend!
Thank you to Net Galley, Nora Roberts and St. Martins Press for generously providing me with my eARC.

Nora Roberts has once again told a story that plunged me happily and completely into another world in her excellent story INHERITANCE. When Sonya MacTavish inherits a mansion on the Maine coast from an uncle she never knew, she also takes on the family curse along with a slight haunting. Gripping throughout, the very best of storytelling in that I didn't rush through to find out what happens, but knew that it would be satisfying, perfectly logical, and wonderfully told. I received a copy of this book and these opinions are my own unbiased thoughts.

I’ve been reading books by Ms. Roberts since the mid-80’s and she never fails to entertain. Inheritance is the first book in the new Lost Bride trilogy, and I love the mystery, family history and the wonderful architecture and furnishings of the centuries-old, haunted house that Sonya inherits. With this trilogy, it seems to be more of one continuing story vs focusing on a different character in each book.
As Sonya experiences some life changes where she lives in Boston, she learns that she has inherited a house in Maine and through a family member she didn’t know. She decides to move from Boston to Maine and take on this new experience and boy what a lot of things to experience with a haunted house, murdered brides over the past two hundred years, life-like dreams, and more! As various events unfold, I found myself a bit tense at times wondering what would happen next.
One thing I particularly enjoyed about this story is the ghost that plays songs on Sonya’s IPad, and they always seem to match whatever is going on at the time. Plus, some are my favorite songs so I couldn’t help but start to hum or sing.
Ms. Roberts expertly weaves history, mystery, family, friends, dogs, a special small town, and romance in this new novel. I was not ready for the story to end and am eagerly waiting for the second book in the series (there is an abrupt ending I wasn’t expecting). The supporting characters were a fantastic addition to the story, and I look forward to reading more about them.
Thanks to the author, publisher and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this new book. I look forward to reading more of Ms. Roberts books.

Inheritance is the newest book by Nora Roberts. Quite a plot with betrayal, inherited haunted houses, a wicked witch, and a deadly curse to be broken before it is too late. Sonya MacTavish surprisingly inherits a mansion from an uncle she never knew. Once there the plot becomes complicated with all that the house contains. Sonya is determined to stay the course. With friends and family she manages to do just that.
You can count on the master storyteller to give a unique story. What I didn’t count on was so much extra. The story bogged down a bit with all the details of Sonya’s free lancing web work, her clothes, food, and trying to make sure that we believed that Trey was not just a good guy but a great one. Less would have been more this time. Then there is the major cliff hanger at the end. I wasn’t expecting that even though I knew this was going to be a trilogy. I just expected a little more closure for this book. Still it does make you want to read the next book.
An ARC of the book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley which I voluntarily chose to read and review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Thank you Netgalley and St. Martin's Press for the chance to read Inheritance by Nora Roberts. This is the latest supernaturally themed story by the author, and I totally enjoyed it. I knew going in, that there would be a cliffhanger in this 1st book of The lost bride trilogy as this is her usual style, but I love how the 3 books always flow together. The mansion Sonya inherits from her uncle is haunted with ghosts of brides who have died on their wedding day, along with a few others who have passed away in the house. The story is spooky enough that you feel a bit nervous, but there is humour throughout to keep it from being too scary. The main characters have a lot of chemistry, Sonya's best friend, Cleo is hilarious and the dog Sonya adopts is adorable! Totally recommend this for anyone who is into supernatural romance, and I am totally looking forward to book 2!!!
