Thanks NetGalley for the ARC of Inheritance by Nora Roberts published by St. Martin's Press
OMG, I need book 2 ASAP
I have read a lot of Nora Roberts books, loved most of them, sometimes I'd feel like her books were becoming the same old story... just different characters. Well not this one, She has really created an awesome stage for this trilogy, i love this this new novel/ and i just know I'm going to love the series, I really can't wait for the next one, I need to know what happens, this ending was awesome and sets the stage for the next book.
Sonya is the main character, she was engaged until she found him cheating with her cousin, that relationship ended immediately. A little time foes by and she finds out she has inherited a house, it's about 3 hours from her mom and best friend, but they will visit, and they do.
I love the relationship that Sonya has with her mom, her girlfriend Chloe and nee male friend Trey, she has a way of making you really feel the moments as they are happening
I also loved all the references to songs throughout the novel. I don't want to give too much away
If you like Nora Roberts, you will love this novel
I'm waiting now in anticipation of her next book!

My girl Nora really needs to try another soda - she references Coke in every book like they’re paying her. I’m excited for this series - after two in a row of kind of disappointing supernatural series, I was considering giving this a skip. I did end up liking it a lot, although it was surprising to end a Nora Roberts book on a cliffhanger.

So as a Nora Roberts fan the start of this trilogy is just ok. But as a romance fantasy fan it is really quite good! There is an excellent setting with a slightly haunted house and all the vibes with the Maine coast. Sonya is a great heroine and I love her relationship with her best friend Cleo. The plot is intriguing and it’s difficult to put down. Trent is kind hearted and a really good boyfriend material. A good start to a trilogy means a crazy cliffhanger ended. I’m mad because of the cliffhanger, but happy because it’s a good one! I don’t know if I can handle the wait but I want to see where this goes. I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a free copy.

I enjoyed the plot of this novel and the characters, but it definitely needs edited down.

Sonya finds her fiance in bed with her cousin. Stunned, she cancels the wedding. Her fiance just can't accept her being the one to end it. He begins a campaign to sabotage her. Since they work for the same company, it is far too easy to hurt her. Sonya realizes that she needs to make some changes in her life. Fortunately, the changes appear rather quickly. She finds that she has inherited a manor and the funds to maintain it. She must live at the manor for a period of time to see if she accepts her inheritance. Oh - the manor is rumored to be haunted too! Is this the change Sonya wants or more than she can handle? Will she experience any signs of haunting or is it a myth?
Nora Roberts's imaginative use of spooky manors, brides dying at their weddings, and a touch of romance combine into the first charming entry into her The Lost Bride Trilogy. The characters are well-defined and enchant the reader quickly. The happenings around the manor are imaginative and interesting which keeps the story progressing quickly. This is a satisfying first book that leaves you with many questions and the hope that Nora Roberts is writing the second book quickly! Who likes to wait?

The start to another wonderful Nora Roberts trilogy!!
I have read a lot of Nora Roberts books, but I think her trilogies/series are the best. Inheritance is just another shining example. I didn't want to put it down!
Roberts has this way of breathing life into her words and whisking readers away into her books. From the first page, I was hooked. Sonya is such a good MC. From the start she is likeable and interesting, but I like that she isn't fearless and I like that she takes her time coming to terms with her new home. It makes her character's growth feel more authentic.
The story is full of flashbacks and I love it! I swear, the characters in the flashbacks could each have their own books...that's how well developed they are.
If you are already a Nora Roberts fan, this book has it all. Her beautiful story telling, laughter, tears, and a story that leaves you impatiently waiting on the next book!
If you are new to Nora Roberts, this is a great book to start your journey.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC, my opinions are given freely.

You know you are in the company of greatness from page one of the newest piece of literary art by the one and only Nora Roberts. Truly in a class of her own. So many layers to the stories and books Nora Roberts gifted her fans over the years. Hard pressed to find a favorite. But wait till you enter the world of Nora Roberts ingenious creativity. Welcome to INHERITANCE.
Entering Poole Manor my mouth gapped wide open. It was fashioned after everything I absolutely adore. From furniture to household fashion to wall art, well you get the picture - no pun intended. Gracious, gorgeous, and grand. Just as the setting for this intense novel destined to hook you immediately.
Generations and decades, if not centuries of family history evolve right before your eyes. Mesmerizing. Nora Roberts art at its absolute best and we are invited to join in on a visually magnificent experience. Have I used enough adjectives. Heck it is just a tip of the iceberg.
This is Sonya MacTavish story. Starts with a majorly disappointing planned extravagant wedding that never took place. Which led to some major career decisions. And then the unthinkable happened. Sonya discovers an unknown uncle, twin to her father, who had been adopted as an infant. It is just Sonya and her mother now, or so she thought. Her newly discovered uncle Collin named her as the beneficiary of a huge part of his estate. A major part was Poole Manor, thus opening a whole new world of relatives for Sonya to discover. Sonya is now wealthy but her career as a graphic artist is still an intrinsic part of who she is.
Part of the will insists that Sonya take possession of the manor, also known to locals as Lost Brides Manor, and live there for at least two years. At first a daunting challenge for Sonya, but once there she was enthralled by this magnificent structure and its contents.
Well maybe not all the contents. Yes you guessed it, the manor has some odd guests. Time to suspend disbelief unless you are a believer. From my point of view who are we to judge the existence of the presence of those who came before. I live in an area that was the site of a major conflict or war within the states and certainly contains many centuries old burial sites. All I am saying is who really knows.
Well Sonya is going to learn that her inheritance includes some rather intriguing guests shall we say. The issue is why are they there. Is there unfinished business keeping their souls bound in the manor. Are they there to help or hurt Sonya. Now that is a thought, beneficent ghost. Love it. Some of the best scenes involve Sonya speaking to the ghosts, especially the musical segments. Laugh aloud funny.
Now what can be said to further whet your curiosity. Suffice it to say that each page draws you into this new life for Sonya which includes more family, which she covets, new and close friends both real and visions, a mystery just beckoning her to become even more vested in her new home. Pay attention. Nora Roberts does not mince words. If she writes about it, well it is going to be relevant and important. Nora Roberts creativity as a wordsmith is formidable. Her characters are so real their words reach your soul. Sonya just may be one of her best characters yet, and that is saying a lot. INHERITANCE is the latest page turning adventure by the impressive Nora Roberts.
INHERITANCE is part one of the Lost Brides trilogy and will undoubtedly leave you waiting for the next installment.

What can I say this book is part of a trilogy and while I am looking forward to reading the rest of the series I wish I didn't have to wait so long to read what happens next.

This is Nora Roberts latest trilogy and it is written in the style of Chronicles of the One and the Dragon Heart Legacy. This book falls into a similar storyline as Roberts other books: Tribute, Birthright, Midnight Bayou, and Sanctuary which all have to do with a mysterious location (home) and uncovering the secrets. Also similar to the Calhoun Sisters, Inn trilogy, Garden trilogy there are supernatural forces at work and/or a family secret to uncover or solve.
I enjoyed the story but overall found the characters' nonchalant attitude about the ghosts too lax and a bit unrealistic considering the isolation of the house. The characters are funny and kind. The romance setup from the beginning and realistic. Overall what one expects from Nora Roberts recent work. This book ends on a cliff hanger and I will read the second installment to find out what happens to Sonya, Trey, Cleo, and Owen.

I love this author but don’t care for the genre of this book, which goes back in time., then current day. Sonya who lives in CA inherits a castle in England with the stipulation that she has to live in the castle for 3 years. Previous brides have died in the castle over many years. Sonya realizes there are ghosts in the castle so her friend Cleo comes to live with her. This book has no ending and requires a continuation book.

I've been reading Nora Roberts's novels since when I was in 7th grade and a classmate lent me her paperback of Public Secrets and I've been hooked ever since.
Some work better for me than others, as can be expected, especially when an author has the prolific backlibrary of Ms. Roberts.
Inheritance, however, pulled me right in and before I noticed I had read to chapter 5.
I kept wanting to read more and was engaged throughout, reading this over the course of a weekend. Upon finishing, my only thoughts were I seriously can't wait til the next titles are ready to read. Wow. This one hit it all the way out of the ballpark.
Recommended, but be aware that Inheritance ends on one doozy of a cliffhanger.
Thank you to St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for the DRC!

I received a temporary digital copy of Inheritance by Nora Roberts from NetGalley, St. Martin's Press and the author in exchange for an honest review. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Sonya MacTavish inherits a mansion in Maine from her uncle and after moving in for a trial period, quickly realizes there are others living among her. The Poole family was cursed seven generations prior; one wife a generation meets a terrible death on her wedding day or within a year of her marriage. It is up to Sonya to break the curse.
I recently read Roberts' The Dragon Heart Legacy series and found Inheritance to be too similar. In both stories, the main character inherits a gorgeous home and family she did not know about, her work-from-home job allows her to be flexible and quickly move, she is self-disciplined through regularly working out and being a productive worker, loves to drink Coke during the day and wine at night, asks her best friend to move in, falls in love, and fights a force - this time, instead of magicks, it is ghosts. This formula she has may work for her to sell books, but I am not interested in reading the same books over and over again. I won't be reading the next installment of the Lost Bride Trilogy.

A big thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the eARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. I was shocked to receive this ARC but happy. I have not read a Nora Roberts book in a while (I have been focusing of ere J.D. Robb titles) so was excited to get started. This is an amazing book. It has a little of everything. Drama, romance, fantasy, mystery, suspense and heartache. The main group of characters are extremely likeable and relatable. Sonya-who inherits a house from an uncle she never knew of, Trey-a lawyer and her love interest, Cleo-artist and best friend (she is very cool) and Owen her unknown cousin. It does have a cliffhanger ending but otherwise a great story. I would highly recommend. 4.5 stars

Utterly enthralling!
I don’t even know where to start. This book has it all. There is a serious mystery as to why (yes we know who, but not really why) someone went to such lengths as to essentially curse a family. Then there are the questions about why the twins were separated. But the best was that crazy cliffhanger.
This was a journey. One through a family history and a current life journey. It is an absolute must read if you ask me.

Riveting from the first page. I was drawn in by the romance. Then Sonya had several obstacles thrown her way. Having a front seat to everything she had to endure and overcome was prime. All the characters drew me in. There was so much that was unexpected, I couldn’t read fast enough. A cliffhanger that I am sure to continue. I highly recommend. This author was always a favorite of mine and this did not disappoint.

This title had a slow start for me but it picked up steam nicely after Sonya learns of her new inheritance and I ended up truly enjoying the story. I am guessing the Part One: Betrayal is Robert’s way of establishing Sonya MacTavish and getting the main cast of characters set in place. I’m not sure the whole jilted bride trope works with the woman Roberts wants to ultimately portray and I had trouble validating this part of the story with what follows. But by the time Part Two:The Manor begins our heroine has moved past that blip in her radar that part one entails and her life has become infinitely more interesting. The new cast of characters we are introduced to in part two and subsequently part three have some depth and staying power - something they will need with the elongated timeframe there will be between books. Sonya lives up to her main character status and Trey - her lover, helper and friend is a solid character all on his own. Can we see where we will, ultimately end up? Yes. But I think this one is a winner if Robert’s can deliver on the plethora of twists and turns which are options for the continuing storyline. This story was lengthy and I loved that. It gave me time to sink into the world building and accept the fantastical as real. Cannot wait for book two and what the brides have to reveal!

Inheritance has everything — romance, mystery, mansion and ghosts. It’s a book you don’t want to put down. Sonya Grace MacTavish was engaged to Brandon and she was in the mist of taking care of arranging the large lavish wedding that Brandon wanted when one Saturday afternoon Sonya canceled a scheduled meeting with the florist and headed home early. She definitely found a surprise when she got home. Brandon and her cousin Tracie, a member of the bridal party, was in her bed. She unloaded the cheater and ended up having to leave her job because Sonya and Brandon worked at the same place. He was acting very childish by interfering with Sonya’s work because he blamed her for his cheating. About the same time Sonya found out that she had inherited a mansion in Maine from an uncle she had no knowledge of. The terms of the will stated Stacy had to live in the mansion for three years to be qualified to keep the mansion. After moving into the mansion, she had to learn to survive and deal with a mean ghost and other good/happy ghosts, a new romance, and to build a new business. Really enjoyed the book and the characters in the book. Looking forward to the next book in this series to see what happens next.

**I was excited to receive a complimentary copy of Inheritance by Nora Roberts from NetGalley. Opinions in this review are completely my own.**
-----Contains Spoilers----
Nora Roberts is one of my favourite authors and I am always excited to read her books. Her ability to create characters that are likeable, dynamic, and engaging is excellent. I want to be friends with them. I want to live in the manor with Cleo and Sonya. I love how they have been open and welcoming to the brides, but fighting back against the evil witch. It was interesting to see Sonya go from not believing in ghosts to accepting their presence. As well, I love her courage in going out on her own after the breakup of her engagement; this opens doors for her so that she can move to Maine when she inherits the manor.
I can picture Lost Bride Manor and I would love to live there, although not sure I would last with all the ghostly occurrences, especially the more scary ones. The vivid descriptions of the sprawling mansion and its lush surroundings transport the reader into a world of opulence and elegance. The setting becomes almost like a character in itself, adding depth and atmosphere to the story.I really wish that I could see Cleo's mermaid painting and her studio. I love crystals and a mermaid lamp sounds like something I'd like too. As well, I love that all of the Oliver Doyles work together and go by Ace, Deuce, and Trey; they all seem so sweet. Obviously a romance develops between Sonya and Trey, as this is a Nora Roberts novel. The chemistry between them is palpable and their relationship develops organically as they build their friendship. I am hoping Owen and Cleo get together in book 2.
I love how this series is shaping out. I have always liked Nora Roberts' trilogies. I devoured the first book in less than 24 hours and I cannot wait for the next book already!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to review this book.
Sonya McTavish is just rebuilding her life when she learns that her late father's unknown twin has passed away and left her his estate on the Maine coast. The estate comes with a piece of a shipbuilding business, land, and a magnificent house on the cliff that may...no, is definitely haunted. As she decides to take on the challenge of living there for 3 years, she falls in love with the house and its oddities. As she becomes part of the fabric of Poole Manor, she discovers more about its history, and the ugly things that happened there. Along with Trey, one of the lawyers in the firm overseeing the estate, she embarks on an adventure that will change her life.
Nora Roberts is one of my favorite authors for so many reasons. She always creates such interesting characters that are easily discernable. Her way of describing settings and emotions is top-notch, and she paints such a vivid, visceral picture that it's easy to simply fall into her books. This one is no exception. I love when she mixes the supernatural into her books, and this one is the start of a new series. I can't wait for the next one!

A huge thank you to Netgalley, the publisher, and Nora Roberts for giving me access to this masterpiece early! This book was everything! I was unable to put it down and finished it quickly! The story follows Sonya as she finds out that her father was adopted and had a twin brother, her uncle, that left his entire Gothic mansion for her. There are conditions to her inheritance including she has to live in the mansion for a specific amount of time. Upon arrival, she meets the handsome Trey who is a lawyer and family friend of her late uncle. Trey calls the manor “lost bride manor” and quickly Sonya finds out why. The manor is haunted by the ghosts of Poole family brides that had died on their wedding day or shortly after. The ghosts of these women take residence in the home, along with other ghosts, and do things like play random music or help clean up. BUT, The family had been cursed by an evil witch named Hester Dobbs. Dobbs is also a resident of the house and likes to haunt and torment Sonya. The ghosts keep asking Sonya for help and let her know that Dobbs has stolen 7 rings from 7 brides and she must find the rings to break the curse. The book is just so not what I expected and I absolutely LOVED it. The book did end on a major cliffhanger and I’m so bummed and anxious to find out what happens next! This is a total treat and unexpected 4.5 to 5 star read for me.
