WHAT A BOOK! The start of this trilogy had everything a reader could want- a heroine who would be a perfect best friend, suspense, witty dialog, some book boyfriend material and enough paranormal to keep you invested and waiting with baited breath for the next revelation. I throughly enjoyed falling into the Lost Bride world and feeling as though you were in the book with them. And that cliffhanger? Immediate anticipation for the next book!

Reading the description of this one, I wasn’t completely sure what to expect! Especially coming off The Dragon Heart Legacy Trilogy. But I was honestly pleasantly surprised with this one! If you liked The Inn Boonsboro trilogy, I think this series will be up your alley!

Sonya inherits a house from an uncle she didn’t know existed. The caveat? It’s haunted and she must live there for three years before it’s fully hers. Soon she realizes that she didn’t just inherit a house, but a curse she must try and break.

This is the first book in The Lost Bride Trilogy, and I really enjoyed it! I loved Cleo and Sonya’s mom! And Trey is the perfect hero for Sonya in this story! What I did not like was the cliffhanger ending I knew we were getting! 🤣 I’m really curious to see where the rest of this story goes and cannot believe we have to wait a year plus for book 2😭 I also cannot wait to add this book to my Nora shelf when the paperback comes out!

This book releases in November, and you don’t want to miss it if you like paranormal romance! I did receive and early copy of this book and all thoughts and opinions are my own.

I loved this book! It reminds me of vintage Nora Roberts books that I read in the early 2000s when I first started reading her books. The haunted house and curse were really compelling. Perfect blend of mystery, romance and a bit of a gothic vibe. Really excited for the rest of the trilogy, especially after that cliffhanger.

What a great book. From the beginning we the fiancé to the end i could not put this down. The name “son” threw me a few times but i know it was short for Sonya. I can’t imagine how big that house must have been with all the rooms. Some she never went in. Cloe was a very good friend and I can’t wait till Hester gets her comeuppance. She was a nasty witch. Trey and Owen were we the good guys and all of trey’s family. I guess I will have a long time to go till books 2 and 3 come out.

So decades ago I discovered Nora Roberts and fell in love with her writing and romance. She did a book about brides and I read all three books of the series as soon as I could get them.
When I saw this, I clicked as fast as my little hands could move. This is the first of a trilogy and I cannot wait to see where the master takes us.

Strap in, get ready and fall hard for this new series.

Nora's done it again. She never fails to amaze me with her talent. And I've read every book she's ever written. There's just no other author that compares. “Inheritance”, the first novel in the “Lost Bride” Trilogy, pulls the reader in with mysterious intrigue, Gothic paranormal activity in, what else? A haunted mansion, and found family “inheritance” that's totally unexpected, and dangerous.

An amazing cast of characters blend into the storyline of past and present, taking the reader on their journeys in the haunted manor house of family secrets, tragedies...and ghosts...
on the wild coastline of Maine. What better setting?

A fan of all Nora's trilogies, this one I devoured in one evening, and then started reading a second time. It's just that good. A lot of mysterious intrigue, a bit of well-written romance, (strong, resiliant women, men with integrity and passion) a heart-breaking historical past of tragedies that follow the family for generations, plus a centuries-old curse. But there's humor too...in only the magic of Nora to make me laugh out loud. And the characters! Nora has a way, and makes you care about them, laugh and cry with them. And did I mention that there's dogs...and ghosts? If you loved Nora's “Inn Boonesboro” or “The Garden” trilogies, you'll be enthralled with this one.

Be prepared for the cliffhanger of all cliffhangers! I did a double-take at the end, thinking that there had to be more, please please please, but nope. Nora leaves the reader panting for the next installment. What a master of intrigue. Fans of Nora, old and new, will want to grab this one as soon as it's released.

It has been a long time since I’ve been so absorbed in a book. “ Inheritance” hits all the emotions we love Nora Roberts for and then some running the gamut from love story, to friendship, to family, and to horror. Sonya, our heroine, inherits a centuries old manor from family she was unaware even existed. Unfortunately, the mansion is haunted, but, not all of the ghosts are evil. This is the first book in a new trilogy and it holds the reader captive from the first page until LONG after the final page. To say, I am eagerly awaiting the next installment is a gross understatement. If you are a Nora Roberts fan, this is a not to be missed read and if you are not a fan, read this one and you will become one. Knowing this was the first of another trilogy had me somewhat hesitant to read it, but it’s a Nora Roberts book, so you just have to read it. While the beginning plot line is cliche, woman comes home to find her fiancé in bed with her cousin, the rest of the story is not. Sonya learns after her broken engagement that she has inherited a manor from an uncle she never knew. Deciding that she will go live in the Manor, only to find that it is haunted by both good ghosts and an evil ghost. Slowly Sonya learns about the 7 lost brides of the manor through real life dreams. Some of the good ghosts actions are interesting. You have to love Clover and Molly for what they do while suspending belief. Sonya’s best friend is a hoot in that being from Louisiana which a Creole grandmother, the ghosts don’t surprise her. Sonya’ love interest with Trey is a natural relationship where there may be interest but not that immediate fall in love. I do think they way this first book ended was exactly right. It was a suspenseful ending that lends itself perfectly to the next book.

I never knew I needed a Contemporary Gothic Romance in my life but WOW Nora Roberts sure delivers. This is book one of a trilogy with one heck of a cliffhanger but the story pulled me with page one. The characters are classic Nora Roberts in a way that means I feel what they feel and want to make sure they not only survive, but thrive. I so enjoyed this book and am grateful to have read it early!

The Queen of the slow burn has done it again! I finished this book in less than a day because I had to see what the heck was going on, and what was going to happen. After she finds her fiance in Flagrante delecto with her cousin, Sonya kicks him to the curb. Unfortunately, they still work together at a graphic design house. The creepy ex makes her life miserable so she decides to quit and go freelance. Just as this decision is made, a lovely lawyer shows up at her apartment and tells her a tale so fantastical, she can hardly believe it. Her dead father had a twin, who has just died and has left her a sizable fortune which includes a mansion in Maine. the only stipulation? She has to spend 3 years in it to inherit it fully.
Sounds like a plan, so Sony packs up and moves. What happens next is the stuff of fairy tales and nightmares.
No one told her the house was haunted. I mean, really haunted. And that 7 brides had been killed in the house - most on their wedding days. It's up to Sonya to find the key to releasing all their spirits.
Told in Robert's most wonderful writing precision, everything in this book was done to perfection - the back story, the front story, the cast of characters, even the ghosts - yes, ghosts as in plural - are all wonderful. This is the first in a three-part story and I can't wait until part 2 releases! 5 stars and marvelously done!

The setting, a haunted manor house in Maine. This absorbing book almost forces you read it in one sitting, wanting to know what happens next. The only drawback to me is the cliffhanger ending. Now I will have to patiently wait for the next is the series!

This was an excellent book! It flowed well, it scared me, and the ending was unbearable! There’s one correction- page 277, 9th paragraph where it says “yoga” instead of “Yoda” otherwise I saw no editing mistakes or misspellings. I cannot wait until the next book!!

When I say, I could NOT put down this book….I COULD NOT PUT DOWN THE BOOK!!! Nora Roberts has done it again by blending a little romance, a little mystery and a lot of intrigue.

Pros to the booK: Fast paced, great story building, steady reading flow, wonderful character building

Cons: First part of a series (why is this a con, because like all great series starters, this ends in a bit of cliff hanger)

I give this book a solid 5 of 5 stars. Cannot wait for other parts of the series.

A quick fun read, but what a cliff-hanger…

I’ve read and liked many of the “In Death” mysteries that Nora Roberts has written using the pen name, JD Robb. But I have never read any of her romances or romantic suspense books. So I was excited to be offered an advance review copy of Inheritance, which is the first in the new Lost Bride trilogy. And I found the book to be thoroughly enjoyable – until, that is, it ended in a whopping cliff-hanger about the size of the Cliffs of Moher. Of course, I do understand that longer multiple-book story arcs will necessarily have to stop with some elements unresolved, and even have some stuff specifically teed up for the next book. But this was such an abrupt and annoying end that I kept checking to see whether somehow the story continued, even after it became clear I really WAS at the end.

Other than the far-too-cliff-hanger-y ending, however, Inheritance was a fun quick read and hard to put down. Although the plot is a bit of a trope (unknown relative leaves younger relative a haunted mansion, on condition they come live in it), Roberts does a nice job of adding a fresh slant here-and-there. And, after all, tropes exist because they do work! On the character side, Sonya and Cleo are strong protagonists, and their different personalities mesh quite nicely, while also providing some moments of humor. There are some other engaging folks too, including three generations of the Doyle family (Sonya’s uncle’s attorneys, and also, apparently, his found family), and the dogs: Mookie, Yoda and Jones. And it doesn’t hurt at all that the youngest Doyle, Trey, is both a thoroughly nice guy, and thoroughly nice to look at…

But there’s more going on than just a modern-day romance. Lost Bride Manor has a murky past to disentangle, and readers get to follow along as Sonya and Cleo figure it out. If I had to give Inheritance a genre, I’d call it light-hearted Gothic. Sure, there’s a centuries-old family curse, and a very scary evil ghost. But there are also some fun and friendly mystical presences – including one who proves to be a particularly apt DJ on Sonya’s iPad; another who seems to enjoy (!!!) cleaning the huge mansion, thereby saving Sonya some money; and yet another who turns out to be an excellent dog-sitter, managing to teach Yoda more than one new trick.

All-in-all, absent the cliff-hanger, Inheritance would be a solid four-star read for me: lots of fun, and definitely recommended - but not a book I'm going to go back and re-read, and then re-read again. And, although I debated bumping it down a bit more just for the cliff-hanger, in the end, I decided that a warning would be enough. So, consider yourself forewarned, and if you hate cliff-hangers as much as I do, you might want to wait until all three books in the series are available before starting this one! Otherwise, read away…

Absolutely great book from Nora Roberts!
I can’t wait to read the next one in the series. It sucks you in right way and was disappointed when it ended because I want more!

As I am a huge Nora Roberts fan, I was thrilled to get a chance to read her upcoming novel in The Bride Trilogy," Inheritance". I must say this book roped me in on the first couple of pages. After finding her soon to be husband in bed with her cousin, Sonya Mctavish has to cancel wedding plans and deal with her ex at work. Several weeks of dealing with his childish and vengeful behavior leaves her with no other choice than to leave a job she loves in graphic design to start a business on her own. A knock on her door and an Uncle she never knew about change her life. Oliver Doyle II has just informed her that her father had an unknown twin and he as this uncles attorney, has come to tell her that she has inherited his Manor home in Maine. The only clause is that she must live in the home for three years. On a three month trial she learns that there is more to this home than meets the eye. Every first bride dies on her wedding day and several are haunting the home. This us a very enjoyable read and the author just draws you in so you feel you are living the story. I cannot wait for the 2nd book in the series and anxiously await the next part of the story!

I have to say this is one of the best books I’ve read in a while. As a Nora Roberts fan I shouldn’t be surprised. After dealing with a broken engagement Sonya, finds she inherits an immense manor that she must live in for 3 months. Once she gets there she finds if I’d haunted and not all of the ghosts want her there. I tore through this book anxious to find out what happens next. It has romance and suspense. Didn’t want it to end . Now I must wait for the next installment of the trilogy. It’s a must read

What can I say but Wow?!? The story grips you, slowly pulls you in. A wedding in the works, something happens. A new beginning, an inheritance, given away by the title, such an inheritance! Haunted! Love the different ghosts! And how she is learning them. An old college roomie that stays in close touch and helps with everything. A loving little companion. A new love interest. All such fascinating characters, alive and passed. And the artwork, hers and inherited, seems amazing. A wondrous setting, on a wild seacoast. What a book. And what an ending! All I can say is, can't wait for the next! Nora, you shot it out of the park!
