MY REVIEW: DNF/Skim Finish
I love Nora Roberts so don’t take my "no star review" as anything personal. I’m sure I still love her old books and will probably love future books. The thing that’s happened to me is I’m changing my reading preferences. I can’t even really tell you what I’m going to love, like or not love any more.
I’ve fallen out with a lot of genres with too much cursing, Grimdark, young adult angst and smut or sexy times. Of course, I just don’t like certain characters. In this case, there are a few from my list.
I kinda wish this was just a full on haunted house book. Either way, I have no doubt Nora Roberts fans will love this book.
*I would like to thank Netgalley and publishing for a copy of this book.

Loved this romance book! The characters in this book were great they felt very realistic and were easy to connect with. Loved the romance plot of this book and the chemistry that the characters had between them! This books plot was easy to follow along to and enjoyable to read keeping you invested from start to end! Loved how the story progress and the combination between fantasy and gothic elements that the book had. The cliffhanger ending was amazing and has me so excited for book 2 to release! Definitely recommend if you have been looking for a story with a romance plot and fantasy and gothic elements intertwined.

Not my favorite of Nora Roberts. To me it was hard to follow and the main characters was not interested in the mysteries of the home. She accepted it and dealt almost too easily with the unexpected issues. It just seems a bit predictable to me. Unlike all of her other books this one did not catch my interest very well. Will continue to read her books but this one isn't my favorite for sure.

This is my third book written by Nora Robert’s and I really enjoyed it. Once again Nora has written fantastic characters that kept me interested until the end and the setting was intriguing. I will definitely recommend this book to all.

I could not get past the language used in the beginning chapters of this book. I find much of the attitudes toward the inciting incident outdated and problematic, placing most of the blame on the woman, and unfortunately could not get past it enough to continue reading

Right off the bat, let me say, beautiful cover. This story was haunting and captured me. Has such an old school Nora feel. I loved that. Overall, it was a great read, and I am okay with cliffhangers to a degree, but this was such and abrupt ending! I did love the way the women in this story were portrayed. strong, capable and the relationships between them was great

I’m pretty delayed on reviewing this ARC since it was published in November, but thanks to St. Martin’s Press and Netgalley for providing this. I’m not a big Nora Roberts reader historically but a few years ago discovered her Chronicles of the One series and loved it. On to the review…. Inheritance is the first in a new series, The Lost Bride Trilogy, and I really enjoyed it. It has the perfect mix of spooky, romance and feminism. Some of the characters’ reactions ring a bit untrue for me, but that willing suspension of disbelief is worth it in the end. Like all good series, book one ends on a super cliffhanger, so I’m looking forward to the next title! Definitely recommend this for those that like a scary, but not too frightening, story and anyone who’s a Nora Roberts reader already.

Oh my gosh! I didn't expect to get so deep into this book! I don't even think I read the description. I just fell in love with the cover. I can't wait for the next book in the trilogy!

Inheritance is the first book in the The Lost Bride Trilogy. Sonya is starting over after ending an engagement and leaving her job when an unexpected visitor tells her she has been left an inheritance by her father's twin brother. She is stunned by this news since her father has passed away and had no known siblings since he was adopted. She moves to Maine to live in the manor left to her for the required amount of time to inherit her inheritance and begins to learn about her father's strange family history. The manor holds secrets and is haunted and Sonya is invested in finding out how to end the curse that has plagued her father's family taking all of the brides away on their wedding days. I am looking forward to the second and third books in the series!

Inheritance by Nora Roberts is the first book in The Lost Bride Trilogy. Before going any further, I will say, if you don't like cliffhangers, then you might want to wait until the whole trilogy is published so you can read them one after another. Sonya MacTavish is shocked to find out that her late father had a twin he never knew about, and that this uncle, Collin Poole has recently died and left her almost everything, including a large Victorian Mansion on the Maine coast. In order to keep the home, she has to live there for three years. As a graphic artist, she can work from home, so she heads off to find out more about her father's newly found family. When she arrives she meets, Trey, a man who was like a son to her uncle. He tells her all about "the first lost bride" and the supposed curse on the house and family. As Sonya stays in the house, she realizes that she is sharing it with many ghosts, and that she has inherited the family curse. Can she and Trey solve the puzzle to rid the house and family of the curse?
I don't read a lot of paranormal, but this is Nora Roberts and I do enjoy her writing and stories. This was a gripping story, that I very much enjoyed. My one niggle with her books is the length and this was another long one. Could some of it been cut, maybe, but I enjoyed meeting the various characters, including the ghosts, and learning about the family history. There is some chills with one of the ghosts being evil and like a poltergeist. The others provide humor and made me smile. The house is definitely a wonderful setting and almost another character in the story. The secondary characters of Chloe, her best friend, her new boyfriend Trey and new cousin Owen all play important roles in the story and in Sonya's new life. I look forward to seeing them again and how they help her to solve the mystery. I need to know what is going to happen next, and am anticipating the next book in the series, The Mirror.

I only recently became a Nora Roberts fan, and Inheritance is another wonderful book by her. While I don't read a lot of series, this is the first book in her new Lost Bride trilogy and I'm beyond excited for the remaining books. This story left my awed and wanting more, and with a total cliffhanger. I loved how she blended romance, fantasy, and paranormal, along with some history, into this unique tale.
I am beyond excited for the next book in the series.
Thank you, St. Martins Press and NetGalley for the eARC in exchange for my honest review.
4.5/5 stars

It has been a long time since i read a Nora Roberts book, but I used to love them. This book was an enjoyable story with an entertaining story. I always love a relocation story, where a female character has to establish their new life, and I liked that this character brought her career with her to her new location instead of leaving it behind. The slow burn romance development was appropriate for the characters and I enjoyed that it took time for the relationship to develop vs other contemporary romances I have read recently where the characters fall instantly in love. The ending killed me though -- when is that next book coming?? I must know what happened.

This is a great book! It has been several years since I read a Nora Roberts book, that wasn’t JD Robb, and it was such a pleasant surprise. I could not put this one down and read it one day. I am not sure I knew that Nora wrote spooky books but she does, and well.
Inheritance somehow encompasses a haunted manor house, big city/small town romance and a touch of cozy mystery all in one! This was a definite five star read for me and I can’t wait for book two in the Lost Bride trilogy.
A huge thank you to Netgalley and SMP for the ARC.

A new trilogy by Nora Roberts which mixes historical romance with mystical mystery set in 1806. It begins with the tragic death of Astrid Grandville who is overwhelmed with joy after marrying Collin Poole. The newly married Mrs. Poole is found murdered on her wedding day still wearing her dress. Oddly, they find that her wedding ring was missing!
The story is brought to the present with Sonya MacTavish prepared to marry Brandon Wise, a graphic artist like herself. They worked together at By Design where she was senior designer. What is unusual is his insistence on planning the large fancy wedding at a Back Bay Boston hotel. Sonya doesn't express the same enthusiasm and especially not after she walks into her house to find her cousin, Tracie in bed with Brandon. You know, the "it's not what it looks like" scenario! The betrayal hits hard as it's her mother Winter's sister, Summer. Yes, they are named after seasons! There is fall out from the cancelled wedding as Brandon becomes bitter to his ex-fiancé with whom he still works.
Life has a way of working itself out as Sonya receives notice that she is to inherit an old mansion on the Maine coast from an uncle that no one knew existed. She learns that her deceased father Andrew MacTavish had a twin brother, Collin Poole, who was leaving his rumored haunted mansion to her. She isn't sure if she wants to uproot her life and move to Maine until she sees the impressive home. When she arrives for the reading of her uncle's Last Will, she is greeted by Trey a young lawyer tasked with executing the will. He provides a tour with commentary of the massive home which feels like it holds secrets and memories from the past. The atmosphere of the home is filled with an eeriness of a place still occupied by family members who have yet to move on from the tragedies that occurred there.
Trey proves to be more than just an executor of the will as he offers assistance after the professional obligations are complete. The attraction between them only intensifies as they work together to uncover the mysteries that the house holds regarding rumors of young brides found murdered with their wedding rings mysteriously missing. Sonya begins to feel uneasy as the energy in the home is clearly sending her subtle message which begin to become more aggressive in nature. Fortunately, she is able to convince her best friend, Cleo Fabares to move in. The story has developed and has you captured wanting to know what happens next.
The ending is such a cliff hanger that you feel like you are literally hanging onto the cliff's edge! Many ideas and theories floating in your head that must wait until The Mirrors, book 2 is released in November 2024. Kudos to Nora Roberts for creating such a spell-binding intense trilogy with such a dramatic ending. Of course, any fan of Nora Roberts is familiar with her many trilogies!
Many thanks to NetGalley and St Martin's Press for allowing me access to read this digital book. My review is my honest and unbiased opinion. All comments are expressly my own.

This arc was kindly given to me by Netgalley and the publisher for review. All opinions are my own.
Nora is an auto read/ buy author for me so I go into biased that I really like her writing even when the stories at times drag or are repetitive. Inheritance is a book that knows it will be a series and was a little too long because of that; it felt like took a bit too long get to the real action of the book (literally the end of the book and total cliffhanger) but that didn't mean I didn't really enjoy it! It is still a solid 4.5 stars for me. I loved the main characters, the side characters, the ghosts, the plot and the big scary house in Maine where it all goes down.

Nora Roberts introduces us to another intriguing and addictive trilogy, luring us in with a two-century-long mystery and spine-tingling ghost story vibes.

Inheritance by Nora Roberts begins like most rom-coms. The main character, Sonya MacTavish, has her world upended by betrayal. As she strives to find her way forward, she discovers a surprise inheritance that sets her life in drastically different direction. As this romance proceeds, the reader soon realizes there's more going on than a sweet love story. Roberts weaves in a paranormal aspect that a is unsettling and almost caused me to stop reading since I do not usually enjoy that genre. I am glad that I persevered and am anxiously anticipating the next book in this trilogy The Mirror which is scheduled for release in November of this year.

This is my first Nora Roberts book and I am a little confused.... I liked it and, at the same time, I was very upset of how she ended it. I know this is a trilogy, but was it necessary to end it like that?! I also understand that she wanted to create some "to be continued" kind of thing, and I am wondering what does this next book will bring. Would we finally know who's the evil spirit? would we have to wait unitl book 3?? What is this evil spirit in the house? And why does she takes the wedding rings from all the brides??!!!
Overall, I think this book could have been shorter, too much extra information that didn't add to the plot. Also, I have to be honest, but I find it crazy that someone will live in a haunted house by themselves and have ghosts that like to play music, make my bed, wash my dishes and play with my dog (oh! and lets add the one that is trying to kill me as well! lol)
Thank you Netgalley and St. Martin's Press for this ARC in exchange of my honest opinion.

This book is another lovely romance from Nora Roberts - she never disappoints and the characters always live in your heart and mind for a time after reading.
I look forward to book 2 in this trilogy and rereading and falling back into the world she has created.
Kudos!
