A very interesting read with great characters. Between the lies and secrets it was no wonder some people didn't know what the truth was. Maeve put herself through a lot to find out what the truth was. Lots of brutality and murders. An interesting ending. Would recommend.

I loved this book, it had me gripped throughout. I couldn't read it quick enough, I loved how the story unfolded and loved the twists and turns.

Did not finish this book as it did not interest me in the least. This story was very slow and dragging one to me.

Maeve turned around for literally one minute and her daughter Sarah was snatched from the car and left in her place was a small business card.

In that moment Maeve knew exactly who had her baby girl, but she couldn’t tell anyone. Maeve knew that it was down to her and her alone to get her back.

In order to get Sarah back Maeve knows that she needs to go back to Ireland to confront her past as an ex con involved in organised crime. A past that she knew would one day catch up with her, however she hoped it never would.

When Maeve goes back to Ireland she places her trust in the one person she thought would have her back, however it seems there is no one she can trust and this is a task that Maeve must face alone.

I really enjoyed go seek. It was fast paced, and had me hooked right from the start. As you’d expect with an organised crime thriller there were so many twists, lies and secrets and I loved how easy it was for everyone to turn on each other with everyone wanting to be top dog in that world. Even closer to home it seems that Maeves enemies are closer than she realises.

I also loved the ending of this book the twist at the end I didn’t see coming at all and that’s always an added bonus for me. A fantastic and exciting debut novel from Michelle Teahan and I’m hoping there will be more to come from her in the future.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for an advance copy of this book in exchange for this review.

Hide & Seek - Michelle Teagen

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this eARC.

A seemingly average housewife is forced to return to her previous life in Organized crime.

Exciting and well-written, just a few things keep this from being a 5-star review... There are FAR too many hard to swallow "coincidences" and too many convolutions, which, at the end of this story, almost turn what is 75% a top-notch edgy novel into almost a "cozy" "cute" story, and it is a pity.

A certain percentage of mystery writers think that. the more convoluted "plot twists" the better, however keep in mind the "suspension of disbelief" you need to maintain with your readers so they don't toss your book down as purey unbelievable fantasy or drivel.

In reality only one or two CLEVER, SLIGHT divergences (that do NOT weaken the plot) strengthen the book, it is easy to go too far and diminish an otherwise promising novel...

Until next time, keep it "real" (or at least plausibly imaginable...)

All it takes is a minute! One minute and your whole world could come crashing down around you. “YOU LOOKED AWAY FOR JUST A MINUTE. Your daughter is gone, and only you can find her. Because you know exactly who took her. And they're making her pay for your past. To save one child, you must leave the other. You must return to your old life. And become the woman you left behind years ago. It's every parent's worst nightmare. Now it's your reality.“

This was a very cruel, clever, insanely dangerous amazing read. I was fully sucked in from the very first chapter. Maeve Was so many different people but one thing was true once a mom you’ll do anything to protect your family. I was so glad I got the opportunity to read this once I read the description.

Thank you NetGalley, Michelle Teahan, and Headline for allowing me to read an ARC of “Go seek” due to be published June 1, 2023.

I tried. I really, really tried but at 50% way through I still wasn’t interested. This sounds exactly like my kind of thriller novel but I find myself disappointed with this book. There are just too many words and so little action. So much time spent trying to prove our main character used to be a bad-ass and can still be that person, but the plot just doesn’t move forward.

Grateful for the arc but I didn’t enjoy this book at all 😔

When Maeve's young daughter goes missing, she knows exactly who has taken her and heads to Ireland to find her. This is an excellent thriller, with plenty of tension and an interesting plot. I like Maeve, she's feisty, stubborn and not one to mess with. It kept me gripped until the end and I would recommend the read.. Thanks to Net Galley for my ARC.

If I could give this book 6 stars I would. It was an absolutely thrilling ride and I LOVED IT.
As I was reading it I felt a lot Catherine Ryan Howard vibes and was very smug when I noticed her mentioned in the acknowledgements. So if you are a fan of CRH, I am fairly confident this book will be right in your wheelhouse.
The book was fast paced and what hooked me in from the get go, was Maeve's initial response to when her daughter goes missing. It was not really a typical response, yet the reason for this becomes more and more apparent as you get to know Maeve.
Often I read about twists and turns in books and then when I read the book I find them tedious or predictable. Maybe because I had no expectations at all going in, as I had read nothing, but I loved some of the twists in the book. One or two I did predict but others made me think 'Now that was an excellent move, well played Michelle'. I will definitely be looking out for the next novel from this debut author as I literally devoured this book in one sitting and was on the edge of my seat for most of that time.
All the stars and all the love.

Maeve loves her family, husband Christopher, and daughters Abbie and Sarah. Maeve’s worst nightmare becomes reality when her youngest, Sarah is taken in broad daylight. But Maeve knows who is behind this and knows she has to play the game. She sharply heads to Ireland to become the other Maeve she used to be and head for the gang lands, determined to get her daughter back.
A fast paced, gritty action thriller. I liked Maeves many characters, certainly not one to mess with!

This book was just ok for me. As she started looking for her missing daughter, I started guessing things that ended up being true. There was a huge shock at the end with her husband, but overall I thought it was a little dry.

Such an exciting read, i enjoyed every moment of 'Go Seek'.

You looked away just for one minute and your child has been snatched but you know who has taken your child because of a past you decided to leave behind. Go Seek is such a exhilarating twist and turn book which shows you what a mother would do to get back her child even if it means going back to a dangerous past you wanted to leave behind.

Many of the characters have different backgrounds and problems of their own but i overall liked how each one was portrayed, some i really liked and some i didn't as much. Go seek has so much in it that you won't for one second get tired of it.. suspense, murder, action, thriller mystery and overall just so much going for it that it keeps you engaged and wanting to see what the twists and turns will turn out to be.

I was in a way expecting the ending but it was still amazing, i enjoyed every part of go seek and look forward to what Michelle Teahan brings out in the future. I would recommend to all book readers who enjoy a good suspense action read, this book is definitely for you.

Absolutely deserves five stars!!!!
Fast paced unputdownable! I absolutely love a badass woman main character. The twists I did not see coming and had me yelling at out loud at times.

Many times I really hated Mauve and her bad choices but that jaw dropping ending certainly made up for it. I look forward to reading more from Michelle Teahan
