I have to say right off the bat I had a very hard time believing Lexi had to explain certain crime scene investigation aspects and terms to the people on her team. Unsub is not just an American term, and everyone in law enforcement, regardless of what position they are in, knows what a killer’s signature is. I understand the author was doing this as a way to explain to the reader what those things mean, but I think it could have been done in a different way. With that being said, the story and characterization made this one worth the read. I really enjoyed it and have already requested the ARC for book two!

Huge thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for sending me this ARC for review! All of my reviews are given honestly!

A new series and thus a new DI named Lexi Bennett. Often these people don't have a great past or went through something devastating and this is most certainly the case with our main character.

What happened to her is not something you ever forget. When can you start to deal with those events? Only when you have closure and this is one thing she does not have...

Lexi is not always the kindest person, but I blame it on her eagerness to find the culprit. She also does not want anything go wrong or something crucial to be missed. She pushes herself to the limit and expects the same from her team.

Sometimes you need to wait for backup, but when the clock ticking, and your name is Lexi Bennett, you just do what you have to do. You will deal with the consequences later...

In the beginning Lexi was not my favorite person, but the more I read, the more I fell under her spell and started not only to like her, but to admire her too.

It was a great, great story that had me deeply interested, animated and on the edge of my chair. I can't wait for the next book with this great detective. 5 stars

Thank you

This book is the first of a series and I'm already eagerly awaiting the next. It's easy to feel for the main characters and hate the murderer. The plot started fast and continued that way, weaving in Lexi's back story. I read it in one sitting as I needed to know who survived.

This is a perfectly serviceable beginning to a procedural series. That may sound like a backhanded compliment, but only if you're not a connoisseur of the genre as I am. There are some ain't great selections in this category, but this...ain't one of them. I like Lexi, I liked the story, and I'm on board for the future tales.

This starts with a bang and keeps the pressure on throughout!! I loved that you get stuck straight in. I loved the connection to the past and trying to figure out of there is a link or if it's a copycat or coincidence. The plot had some really good twists and I also liked that you got a glimpse of the killer aswell so you got that added insight into their mindset. The characters were well written and very human, the book had barely even started before I found myself invested in the triplets and Lexi. Can't wait to read the next installment, it's it's even half as good then I'll be delighted

I loved how just the first few pages this book seemingly threw us into the action and then added a little bait and switch and then we realised what was really going on and who the character was that we were following. Got me hooked straight away!

I really enjoyed the fact that the main character trying to solve the case had a likely past connection to the killer and that we also got occasional glimpses into killer’s POV to give us a few more clues as to what was going on. Not that I had any idea until the end!

Really looking forward to reading the next in the series and I hope we get to find out a bit more about some of the other characters.

I also am local to where this story is based which added a extra layer of fun!

Absolutely gripping psychological crime thriller. I couldn't put this down and I can't wait for more.

DI Lexi Bennett has just returned from the US where she has been training with the FBI in profiling suspects. Having been kidnapped together with her sisters as a teenager, she is driven by a strong personal interest in law enforcement and bringing the culprit to justice.

Before she even has chance to meet the new Major Investigations Team she will lead, Lexi stumbles upon murdered twins whilst out jogging. The similarities to what happened to her 17 years ago are striking. Can it be a coincidence? A copycat? Or has her tormentor resurfaced after all these years?

A real cat and mouse chase, partly told from the killer's POV, as Lexi fights against time to find a missing teenager and solve the murders whilst coming to terms with the demons from her past.

Wow! this book hits the ground running from the very first page and does not let up, it is perfect for a binge listen within a day. It starts when Detective Lexi Bennett who has just returned to Britain after working with the FBI for 4 years, starts her day with a run before starting her new job, when she comes across the bodies of two young girls dead on a hill, at first sight it seems they are twins but it is soon discovered that they are actually triplets and one of them is still missing. Lexi soon realises that the case has similarities to her own kidnapping from 17 years before, could it be the same person.

I would like to thank netgalley and the publisher for an advance copy in exchange for an honest review. I was excited to read this as it is the 1st book in a brand new series and it did not disappoint. We follow Lexi, a police officer in the United Kingdom as she literally comes across two bodies on her run. We find out that they are 2 of a set of triplets and 1 sister is still missing. This hits hard with Lexi as she is also a set of triplets, and only her and one of her sisters returns. This book starts with a bang and doesn't stop. Follow Lexi as she tries to piece all the clues together, is her abduction related and why has this happened again? Can't wait for book two.

Lexi Bennett is a Detective that has just returned from America. She has been away for four years, and before she has had a chance to meet her team, she finds the bodies of two teenage girls on her morning run.
She finds out that the girls have a sister who is missing, and they are triplets.
This brings back the horrific kidnapping of Lexi and her sisters, also triplets. One sister never returned. The case is unsolved, and it falls on Lexi's shoulders to find the monster that has haunted her dreams for 17 years.

What an absolutely brilliant police procedural! I am more than impressed with Lexi Bennett and her team!
Hunches and great detective work, and out of the box thinking solves the mystery of who the Triplet Murderer is.
Fast paced and a true page turner!

I cannot wait for the next in this series, I see that it is going to be out in July.

I recommend this book and am awarding it 5/5 stars.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

“They could be sleeping. The sleep of the innocent, untroubled by dreams or nightmares”

Detective Lexie Bennet starts her first day at work by going for a morning run. While resting on a hillside, she finds the bodies of two teenage girls, dressed up as princesses, with their throats slit. Although not how she planned to introduce herself to her new team, she calls it in, knowing she is about to be swept up in a continuous course of action.

An identification of the victims, Lucy and Eden, leads Lexie to learn that they are triplets and that the other sister, Paige, is still missing. Not only does this instil panic in the present, but memories of her past are forced to resurface as she, a triplet herself, was abducted alongside her sisters seventeen years prior. She and Amber escaped, but Lexie is still haunted by her decisions that lead to their third sister, Rose, never being seen again.

Although the case is a little too close for comfort, Lexie jumps straight into her line of duty in a race against time to find the missing sister, Paige. She doubts whether her case is connected to the one she is investigating, but after returning home to find her back door open and Rose’s diary left on her kitchen table, she soon starts to rethink how much she really knows.

I absolutely loved the pace of this book and really appreciated how it jumped straight into action within the first chapter. It gave the novel a sense of reality as these sorts of events always take people off guard and his is mirrored by readers being thrown into the storyline.

The narrative follows Detective Lexie Bennet for the most part, with the killers perspective sprinkled throughout. As well as revealing the perpetrator’s sadistic mindset, these glimpses offer an intriguing contrast to the main plot until eventually, the two portrayals begin to slowly match up.

As readers witness Lexie’s growing paranoia, the suspense intensifies and makes you desperate for answers. She starts to believe her own kidnapper is back and playing games with her which makes her more determined and reckless in finding the truth and locating Paige.

I highly recommend this read. It will completely absorb you and leaves no room for boredom as it consistently delivers an interesting and engaging plot. This book is also part of a detective series, so if you enjoy it you can move straight onto book 2, The Girl’s Last Cry, and continue Lexie’s journey with her.

Ohhhhh the chase was good! Great start to a new series - I'm excited for the next!
Lexi has returned to her English village hometown - her first day on the job, Lexi finds two young girls viciously murdered. Working with her team of investigators, Lexi pushes to prove herself as capable and solve this case.
Her own kidnapping is tied to the case - triplets, only two escaped. Rose haunts Lexi every day.
Will she save the missing triplet and find Rose?

3.75⭐️

This is my first intro to this author. It’s always interesting to me when I read or listen to a book that does not take place in my country.

I enjoyed this book. DI Lexi Bennett seems to be a complicated character, who has a very dark and damaging past. I’m definitely interested to see where this series is going. I can’t put my finger on why I wasn’t all in. But I’m hoping we get more in the next book.

(I listened to this book.)

Found another detective series to read. Lexie was a great character. When her past & new case collide, she finally can put some ghosts to rest. This was an extremely good mystery & the writing kept me on edge. I literally can not wait for the next book.

This is an interesting book. The detective is a triplet who was kidnapped much like the girls in the story. It becomes pretty obvious the killer is only using the girls to get to Lexi. While the book overall wasn't bad, I just feel like all of these series are running together. It may be time for me to stop reading them.

This novel, written by a gifted author, is a page turner. I could not put it down. It is the first in a new series about a law officer who was a triplet…one sister has disappeared, ,and she has reconnected with the other one. Now she has returned home to work and is working on finding another set of triplets’ murderer and kidnapper. I liked his book because it had realistic characters, red herrings, and a quick moving plot. It is written in a linear timeline and does not have the voices of a million characters. This story is so real that it reads almost like nonfiction. Do not miss this novel. This book was sent to me electronically by Netgalley for review. Thanks to the publisher and the author. I cannot wait to read book two.

Detective Lexi Bennett is devastated when she finds the two teenagers lying side by side on the quiet green hillside, their throats cut. Convinced this is no ordinary killer, she vows to draw on all her profiling experience to find justice for these beautiful girls who will never have the chance to grow up.
Many thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to read an ARC 5 WELL DESERVED STARS! You will want to read this in one sitting because you are on the edge of your seat the entire time… I was mad at life getting in the way!
