I loved this book. Read it in a day! Admittedly, having read others in the series I'm now invested in the main characters. In my opinion they could probably be read as standalone, but I recommend reading the entire series. The characters are likeable, the settings described so you can imagine them and the plots are always different. I can't wait for the next book in the series

Your killing me with these Cliff hangers.

This story was seriously disturbing. Ellie Reeves and her crew are investigating a 10 year old murder but the more they dig the more crazy things become. There is a sense of urgency that won’t let you go.

That evil was everywhere, like a fire-breathing dragon, as real as the unbearable heat killing off nature at that very moment.

The bad guys are so evil that it gives you shivers just thinking about it.

Shadows and ghosts of the past were hiding deep in the dark forest of the AT.

Just when you think finally it’s happening she throws a curve ball that has me almost throwing my kindle across the room. Everyone who loves this series will know exactly what I’m talking about.

A 5 year old girl is missing. Detective Elle Reeves is on the scene. Later a car is found in the lake and bones are found near where the girl disappeared. The bones belong to a woman who disappeared 10 years ago, but where is her 2 year old daughter. This is one you won’t be able to put down. There are so many unexpected twists in this story. The ending leaves us with a mystery that has me already looking forward to the next book. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.

Thank you Rita Herron, Net Galley and Bookouture for providing me with an ARC of this book!

"Widow Lake" had me completely immersed in the storyline from the first chapter. This book's gripping plotline, intense dark mysteries and heart pounding suspense had me eagerly turning pages to see what would happen next. Simply put it's unputdownable!

This was my first time reading a book from this author but I guarantee it won't be the last. I am looking forward to checking out the rest of this series and if you like a dark, gritty and suspenseful read you should too.

The synopsis, cover, and title of this book made me want to read it, however it was so dark that I had trouble finishing. This is a great book for anyone who enjoys dark/disturbing mysteries and suspense. The killer's point of view comes in right away and is pretty chilling. Good, creepy mystery that will have you looking over your shoulder whether or not you hear noises. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.

Now that I know Rita Herron writes an ongoing series of Ellie Reeves novels, I look for these on NetGalley. The books are lively, full of mystery but also full of poignant love stories. Widow Lake is fast-moving, easy to read and packed with surprises - some good and some bad.

Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read this ARC.

The search for a missing girl turns up the bones of a local woman who went missing 10 years ago. Weirder, her young daughter was never reported missing. Detective Ellie Reeves is on the scene to investigate.

The writing style here was not my favorite. I felt like it jumped around between narrators too much. The story was a solid mystery though.

Ellie is at it again. Murder and missing women. This book was sent to me electronically by Netgalley for review. Thanks to the publisher and the author. This is a great series. The characters are likable and realistic for the most part, but as in most mysteries, there are those who are insidious. The story moves quickly. I guessed the identity of the little girl early on, but the story had more than one mystery.
