Admittedly, The Witch of Maracoor took me a little longer than I would have liked to have read because I forgot I was behind so I played catch up...and wow. What a great conclusion (?!?!?!) but I still feel like there were a few storylines (and I still have questions). I'm a little sad this wraps up.

Thank you Netgalley and Tor for the eARC.

The Another Day trilogy as a whole delves into the intricacies of its characters, showcasing Maguire's prowess in crafting complex personalities. The exploration of opposites between Cossy and Rain echoes the dynamic between Glinda and Elphaba, adding layers to the narrative. The parallel journey to find, a recurring theme in Maguire's works, adds a magical touch to the story. While the writing's occasional heaviness may pose a challenge, it serves to enhance the depth and richness of the narrative. Overall, Maguire's signature verbosity contributes to the unique charm of the books, and continues into the last of the series...

The shift of Rains journey is... jarring, but not unlike Elphaba's after she left Shiz. The tone of the last book is decidedly less magical and really seems to match Son of a Witch in kind. It's darker and startling.

Knowing from the end of "Out of Oz" and continuing this book with the carrot that Elphaba Lives (reference intended) is tantalizing and also frustrating. Seeing Rain venture into an entirely new person is a pivot that was expected considering her father and grandmother, but still slightly disappointing.

I look forward to more!

*The Witch of Maracoor" serves as Gregory Maguire's farewell to the enchanting world of Oz. Maguire's writing, adorned with rich vocabulary and clever phrasing, continues to craft a vivid world filled with quirky characters. While the book's brevity felt tangible, it remains a hero's journey through the eyes of Rain, Elphaba granddaughter.

Rain's adventure is a tapestry of reconciliation and self-discovery. Her reconnection with her father and Ozma brings a heartwarming close to longstanding narratives.

The book is not without flaws, yet it captures the essence of Oz. A seemingly random love affair doesn't overshadow the joy Maguire brings. For Oz enthusiasts, "The Witch of Maracoor" ties loose ends, but might leave some questions unanswered.

Whether it truly concludes Oz or hints at more, one thing remains certain: Rain's journey and the magical land of Oz linger in the reader's heart and soul.

A great book to wrap of the series. It makes me want to read more of his books. The cover is lovely!

This was a wonderful book and a mostly satisfying conclusion to the “Another Day” trilogy. The only issue is that there are a few unresolved storylines that leaves the reader needing at least one more story to resolve!

I've not seen many posts about this series, but that doesn't surprise me. A lot of people read Wicked but didn't continue with the rest of The Wicked Years series. The Another Day series picks up years after The Wicked Series with Rainary Ko, Elphaba's granddaughter, and while adventurous, this series isn't as exciting.

Maguire's lush vocabulary was still there in his writing, and it was full of his usual cleverly turned phrases and silky similes; it was also well attended by his unique and quirky characters and poetic setting descriptions, but it felt rushed and the emotional depth of the previous books wasn't there.

Although this final book pretty well tied up all the major storylines, despite being open-ended, it was too short. Maguire's lush vocabulary was still there in his writing, and it was full of his usual cleverly turned phrases and silky similes; it was also well attended by his unique and quirky characters and poetic setting descriptions, but it felt rushed and the emotional depth of the previous books wasn't there. I hope he decides to write more adventures in the Land of Oz from other character point of views because The Wicked Years books, and this spin-off series, are my favorites of Maguire's stories.

Wow. It was not a surprise to me that I absolutely loved this to pieces. I’m so sad that it’s the end of this journey but man, the wicked series was truly a masterpiece.
