DNFed at 16%. I thought this was going to be fun, but I don’t want to keep reading about Brooke anymore. The first two chapters of her POV were kinda funny, but it stopped being funny fast. I started asking “Is it always going to be like this in her head? Does she always have to be such a comical mess?” I find it exasperating. Every thought and action of hers is accompanied with an example or a “picture this” scenario of how pathetic she is. And it will drag on, piling one sad thing about her after another. She can’t even put on makeup without banging her head or being a humorous fail about it. Also, why do I have to read through paragraphs of Brooke watching a YouTube video on how to put on eye shadow?

The perfect blend of heartwarming, humor and heat. Monroe continues to push the envelope with delicious, naughty fun. Accidental Attachment continues that endearing tradition. Chase and Brooke come to life through the voices of masterful storytellers. There is no turning back once you've offered your heart to perfection.

Accidental Attachment by Max Monroe is a romantic comedy about a writer and her editor.

Brooke has a huge crush on her editor, Chase, so she writes a book about them...and then accidentally sends it instead of the spin-off to her bestselling series. Not knowing the book is about him, Chase loves it and pushes for it to be published. At the same time, Brooke goes on tour for her books that are being adapted into a Netflix show. Chase goes with her and we have a roadtrip and one room/RV trope with a slow burn.

I enjoy books about writers and the publishing industry. The cutest little typewriters were used as page breaks.

There are different perspective chapters and we get to see Brooke through her eyes as a disaster, but Chase's chapters show her as beautiful, charming, & quirky.

What I didn't care for was that you need a certain sense of humor for the unnecessary amount of pee talk and embarrassing/cringe moments. Brooke was not my favorite MC, but Chase's chapters really made up for it. I loved his sister and he added more normalcy to the book.

It really picked up once they were on the road. I read most of it in a day. They even did an author bucket list item! (Signing and hiding your book for people to find.) I really liked the events of the book more than Brooke's likability.

Statement of fact: you cannot read a Max Monroe book without smiling. It’s just not do-able.

Accidental Attachment is a hilarious take on the “meta” trend in romance (which I am loving). Grab yourself a “mega pint” of wine in solidarity with Brooke Baker for this cute, quirky, witty, swoony, and steamy story.

Who is Brooke Baker? Only the best-selling author of The Shadow Brothers series, which Netflix has made into a show. It’s the perfect momentum for her spin-off series, The Garden of Forever, which is due to her (unfairly hot and perfect) new editor, Chase Dawson, like… now. Is that manuscript garbage? Yes. Is it because she’s had more of a creative surge in writing a fake romance between her and the previously mentioned devastatingly attractive editor? Possibly. Is it going to get sent in anyway? Yup (she says with a popping emphasis on the “p”), it’ll have to do.

Brooke goes into her editorial meeting, superhero service dog Benji in tow, shocked to hear that he LOVED the manuscript. Says it’ll be a best seller, even. The problem? It’s. The wrong. Manuscript. And now he is raving about the relationship between River and Clive- the fictional versions of Brooke and Chase- like they’re Remy Winslow and Maria, making plans to take it to the head of Longstrand Publishing and the works.

Overall, it’s a classic MaxMonroe book with cameos from our favorite old friends, laughs, and a touch of spice. I also appreciated the inclusion of Brooke’s disability, vasovagal syncope, which I was previously unfamiliar with. They put a lot of care and effort into sharing her experience, the ways it impacts her daily life, and how she has to adjust for it.

I was instantly not a fan of Brooke as a character. Her inner monologue was meant to be funny but just comes off as annoying and childish. I couldn't get passed it or the long mention of how she couldn't be mad at her dog because he's so cute in his costume. She then goes off to talk all about the other costumes she has for this dog because he's a hero. She also compares her writing deadline to some pretty bad stuff. Also the dedication in this book is just plain weird. I really don't understand why this book is as long as it is but can only assume that it's because of the constant repeat of information. I don't think I'll be picking up a book for this author duo again. I didn't find it to be funny and the other reviews mentioned how the romance does come into play until later in the book. If it's a romance book I don't see why the romance wouldn't have been sooner.

Rollercoaster wordy romcom great for the weekend or vacation. The typical flaky and insecure female with the hot intellectual male, with some twists and strong cast of characters. And of course they end up together in the end. Breezy, light, and long.

Synopsis:
"A successful writer accidentally sends her new (and super-dreamy) editor the wrong manuscript. Instead of the full-length paranormal novel she promised Longstrand Publishing, she sends the fan fiction she’s written about her crush…on him—including every detail of the hot, steamy “physical activity” she’s fantasized about happening between them.
And Chase Dawson may be the hottest man alive and a super-talented editor to boot, but he’s completely oblivious that he’s the star of the manuscript he just convinced his boss to green-light."

My Thoughts:
A spicy romance book is not something that I typically gravitate towards, but I heard so much hype about this one that I wanted to read it for myself. I'm so glad that I did! This story is told with so much humor that I laughed out loud several times. Told in dual POV's we get inside both Brooke and Chase's heads as they navigate their professional relationship while lusting after one another. I enjoyed both characters but Brooke's awkwardness and wit felt so real. I love when a book pulls humor from everyday things that are too awkward to talk about.
While I don't see myself diving head first into the spicy romance genre in general, @authormaxmonroe definitely has me wanting more books like this with laugh out loud humor.
If you haven't done so recently, this is your sign to read a book outside of your normal genre.

Thank you to @netgalley and @authormaxmonroe for the gifted copy of this book.

I reviewed this one on goodreads and sent feedback via my audiobook sent. I chose to do the audio for this one and it was amazing!

This is the first book by Max Monroe I have read, but it won’t be the last. The characters both major and supporting are lovable and realistic. Who’s father hasn’t embarrassed them at an important event?
Brooke a NYT bestselling author who sends the wrong book to her new editor. Whoops! Chase the new editor for a major publishing house goes all in when he reads Brookes new book. Little do they know where it will lead them. The forced proximity of the characters leads to moments when I couldn’t help laughing out loud. I won’t share, because I wouldn’t want to spoil it for you. Don’t be put off by the length of Accidental Attachment you’ll miss out on an enjoyable read. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC of this book in exchange for a honest and fair review.

•Disability Rep
•Forced Proximity
•Slow-burn
•Book about books/ Publishing
•Dual/ Alternate POV

The book is compelling enough to draw readers. It has alternative POVs and it is character driven. And there is this invisible emotional attachment author has created with impactful back story of characters. The book has detail account of characters and traditional publishing. Brooke and Chase are so cute. I loved reading about Chase’s inner thoughts and about his family. While it was kind of funny how Brooke described her dog. The book has so many feelings and intellectual conversations. There are warm and amusing moments.

When a successful writer Brooke Baker sends the manuscript she wasn’t supposed to send to her new editor Chase Dawson, her life takes an unexpected turn. She never thought of publishing Accidental Attachment because it was not just a manuscript but the book was about her dream man and her wild fantasies. But unexpected happens when she finds out that Chase Dawson is her New Editor. The Road trip brings out a lot and their conversations turns into something else.

I really enjoyed this one! I adored Brooke and her faithful companion/service dog Benji and Chase was so swoony! This was a hilarious, heartfelt rom-com with great disability rep! I highly recommend if you love dual POV, slow burn, forced proximity, road trips and books about books/authors! I listened to the audiobook and despite the inconsistencies with Chase’s twang, overall, I thought the narrators did a great job!

This book!! I really enjoyed it. I admit it took me a couple chapters to get into it (no clear reason why, could have just been a mood I was in), but because a few friends had read and enjoyed it, I stayed with it and I'm so glad I did.

I flipped between audiobook and an ebook, depending on mood, situation, etc. and really appreciated having the option to do so.
I thought the actors for the audiobook were great - the male actor with the southern accent - swoon. I felt the female actor really captured Brooke's sometimes frenetic energy, anxiousness, and humour. Well done.

Brief overview:
Brooke is a romance writer. One night, she drunkenly emails the wrong manuscript to her new editor, Chase. When it turns out he loves the book and wants to get it published, Brooke doesn't tell him its a mistake and that the romance book is based on him and her and it was her outlet to fantasize about the big crush she has on Chase. Oopsies.
As the two embark on a cross-country road trip to promote a Netflix show based on a book Brooke wrote, the two get closer and closer, eventually acting on their mutual attraction. But, at some point, the truth has to come out...
Also getting a starring role in the book is Brooke's service dog, Benji.

What I liked about this book:
- the sexual tension between Chase and Brooke - and then when they acted on it? damn.
- Brooke's ability to take her chronic illness in stride and find the humour in it.
- the banter, the jokes, Brooke's silliness - all these provided for many lighthearted moments during the book to counter the more serious issues
- the set-up for a sequel focused on Brooke's sister (please, let this be true!!)

other thoughts:
- I did find the book was a bit long, so it took me longer to read than I was anticipating
- I'm always amazed by books written by more than one author and how it doesn't read like multiple brains were involved. Great job with getting the 'one voice.'

I'll definitely be reading more books by Max Monroe!

Thanks to NetGalley and the authors for an eARC and ALC of the book. All opinions are my own.

I received an early copy of this book for review and this is my honest opinion.

I really enjoyed Accidental Attachment. It had me laughing almost the entire time while reading it. I identified with Brooke a lot with the nutty and off-beat things she did and said. Such a unique soul and funny in all the best ways. I understood Chase’s flaws with being too nice and people take advantage of others like that.

The premise of the story was different but relatable and I liked reading about Brooke’s condition and learning more about it. My husband’s cousin has been diagnosed with that and it can only imagine the toll it takes on someone.

This was my first Max Monroe title and I look forward to reading more from this co-author duo.

This story is a great palate cleanser. It’s short, sweet, and hilarious. Brooks is such a quirky and hilarious fmc while Chase is really just a sweet teddy bear. Their antics on the 3week road trip are hilarious and really show their connection growing throughout their time together. The ending even leaves the opportunity to expand the universe and write a story for the sister!

I really loved this book but tbh I love everything from Max Monroe. Their writing is always funny, sassy and engaging. Their books are always a must 1-Click because they haven't had a miss yet.

This book was an excellent read to pass the time, it was a slow-burn treat, and the forced proximation was a cherry on top. After reading my first Max Monroe book, I am completely hooked! The characters were truly delightful and left a lasting impression on me as a reader. The warnings at the start of the book about where not to read it were much appreciated. It created a positive impression and heightened my eagerness to delve into the pages, anticipating a remarkable reading journey.

Accidental Attachment is such a fun book! Brooke is a relatable character with her quirky personality and penchant for passing out, especially in the presence of her crush on her smokin hot editor, Chase. When she gets wine drunk and accidentally sends him the wrong book, one coincidentally about their imagined, steamy romance, it sets off a whole chain of events that changes their lives. The push and pull between the characters, Chase's sweet overprotectiveness, and Brooke's hilarious one-liners along with her canine companion make this book well worth the read.

Thank you to NetGalley and Max Monroe LLC for sending me this arc in exchange for an honest review!

I’ve read several other book by Max Monroe and I thought this one would be promising, especially based on the blurb. It fell short for me. I had to struggle to finish this book.

Brooke is a writer who accidentally submits the wrong book to her editor Chase that was based on her fantasy of them. After the accidental submission it becomes a whirlwind from there. It felt like something was lacking between them. It felt like it was heavily focused on Brooke’s quirkiness and after a while it became annoying. For Chase he just literally seemed too perfect and I get that was in Brooke’s point of view, but it was too much.

It is for sure a slow burn, but once the spice hit, it fell short. Chase and Brooke getting together was so built-up that once it finally happened I wasn't that excited for it.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me an ebook copy of this book to review.

Giving up at 55%. I'm sorry, but not much happened in more than half of the book besides the FMC freaking the shit out and the MMC telling us she's funny as hell.

The synopsis/blurb pulled me in. A publishing industry romance? Ooh, gimme the deets. As someone who used to write fanfiction, I was all in for a "whoops I sent you my spicy fanfic!" premise.

But once you start reading, the storytelling leaves much to be desired. The FMC's disability (vasovagal syncopes) is fine and dandy, and I'm here for her self-deprecation yet acceptance of her fainting spells. They became a crutch to the story pretty fricking early on, though. Every single time she would see the MMC, she would freak out and nearly faint (or, one occasion, actually faint). It felt like the authors were pushing it after the second tipping over.

The humor is forced and flat, though. The MMC keeps telling the reader that the FMC is funny, but I didn't find myself cracking a smile at any of her jokes because after a while, it just becomes humor dissonance. At one point, she acknowledges that "I am infantile in maturity!" and yup, nailed it right on the head. Her crackwhip jokes read like something a high schooler might say.

I honestly fail to see how a smutty fanfic could be considered a literary masterpiece (or however the MMC called it; not to mention that I doubt any man let alone an editor would think smut is life-changing or mind-bending -- or however he described it). I suppose 50 Shades of Grey did make waves in reader circles, but I don't think anyone would describe it as a masterpiece either. Anyway, I digress. One passage pretty much sounded like a CEO of a tv news channel and his star anchor getting diddly live on air so holy shit. I'm sorry but have we learned nothing from the #metoo movement, company policy violations and the whole debate about whether manager-employee relationships can even be considered consensual? Have we learned nothing from all the lawsuits following such relationships? I'm not really into employer-employee romance, as you can tell. Especially not CEO-employee.

Another issue this book suffers from is too much filler. I have never read a Max Monroe book before, but apparently, some of their old characters had a cameo during a walk that honestly didn't need to be included. (BTW, this book is long AF and a lot of scenes could have used trimming or complete chopping). The whole 55% I read felt like filler -- nothing much happened besides the FMC submitting the smutty fanfic instead of the novel she was supposed to submit, the MMC agreeing to drive a motor home to get her places for her Netflix tour, and I guess him hearing her come twice in the shower. Everything. Else. Is. Filler.

The romance is strange, too. The FMC says over and over that she's got a crush on the MMC, and the MMC's internal dialogue keeps bouncing back to "she's so funny", but I don't really feel much chemistry between them. No tension, besides maybe MMC getting a boner when he hears her orgasm in the shower. Which you'd think is when her equilibrium would also take a massive nosedive due to, you know, blood pressure getting all hyped up and weird, but nah.
