In "Just Like That" by Nina Kaye, readers are treated to a charming and relatable romance that navigates the intricacies of life, love, and unexpected challenges. With a blend of humor and heart, this book is a delightful journey into the lives of Jess and Nick, two individuals whose worlds collide in the most unexpected way.

Jess is riding high on the success of her career in events management, until her world is upended when she becomes her brother's caregiver following his sudden stroke. Her demotion at work leads her to the East Lothian Wildlife Park, where she crosses paths with Nick, the head keeper. Their initial clash reveals a dynamic filled with tension, misunderstandings, and a hint of undeniable attraction.

Kaye skillfully captures the complexity of Jess's life as she navigates newfound responsibilities while trying to keep her professional life afloat. The author paints a vivid picture of the challenges of caregiving and the toll it takes on Jess's emotional well-being. In contrast, Nick's pragmatic and seemingly carefree attitude masks his own personal struggles, adding depth to his character.

The chemistry between Jess and Nick is palpable, and their banter and clashes create a sense of anticipation throughout the story. The slow-burning romance is a highlight, as it's built upon genuine connection and shared experiences, making it all the more satisfying.

The backdrop of the animal park adds a unique and endearing touch to the narrative, creating moments of heartwarming interaction between the characters and the animals they care for. Kaye's writing brings the setting to life, making it feel like a character in its own right. All in all, "Just Like That" is a captivating romance that balances heartache and humor. This novel is a must-read that will leave you with a warm and fuzzy feeling long after you've turned the last page.

I'm absolutely speechless at the masterpiece that this book is 🤩 Y'ALL LISTEN LISTENNNNN

I'll go ahead and be honest and say I didn't expect to like this book as much as I did. I thought it would be a cute read with a simple plot, and while that was EXACTLY what it was, it was also everything I wanted in a book. It was light and soft and easy to read but it was also deep and meaningful ane below-the-surface while also never losing its playfulness. I'm so enchanted, not ny the novel only but it's characters and the phenomenal writing style.

I absolutely loved the tension between the MCs and how it builds over the course of the book and how everything ties together at the end...my heart is so full. 💖

Review:
LOVED! This book was just fabulous. I loved the dynamic between Jess and Nick, Jess and Seth, and the whole East Lothian Wildlife Park staff! Rana was a wonderful side-character 🐻 who was the best addition! I loved so many things about it that I don’t want to give away because they’re spoilers. Just read to find out!

The plus thing for the whole plot is Rana. Without that bear I don't think I would've continued reading it. Scenes with Rana added a lot of emotions. She is the hero here.

I liked the chemistry between leads. But a little understanding between them would've made it easier for them. Though I liked that Jess went for a break up, when she thought she cheated, rather than just hiding and continuing. I felt it's more of Jess's story than both Jess and Nick's.

The plot is fine and this is a one-time read for me. I did enjoy but it didn't grab me wholly into it. I would give this 3.5.

I really enjoyed this especially since it mentioned Edinburgh, one of my favorite cities in the world. Cute and lovely romance, heartwarming and so funny.

This is my first Nina Kaye novel and I really can’t wait to read more. This book is a cute romance plot set in Scotland, with the back drop of the animal enclosure. The narrative is fast paced and I liked the miscommunication and enemies to lovers trope. It was a little frustrating at times to deal with the FMC’s constant misunderstanding and lack of communication but the other characters such as MMC, FMC’s brother, best friend and colleagues all make up for it.

Just Like That explores some hard hitting and emotional topics such as disability and parental estrangement which added a lot of depth to the plot. I thoroughly enjoyed this read and I highly recommend this to other romance enthusiasts.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for my ARC.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with this book.

This book was good. I enjoyed it and thought it was cute. However, I did not like the main character Jess. She messed up her life and complicated things.

Characters that refuse to talk to one another about their assumptions drive me batty and kill any potential for finishing the book.

In Nina Kaye’s Just Like That, FMC Jess suddenly becomes the caregiver to her brother, and she must navigate this new role with her existing role as an event planner. In the process, she meets Nick, an employee of one of her event clients, and sparks fly.

I had a little bit of trouble connecting with the characters in this story, but that could be because I’m not such a fan of the miscommunication trope, which is a driving force of the plot. Jess keeps a lot of secrets, and Nick says a lot of things that Jess often misconstrues.

I really did like the setting of the wildlife park, and witnessing Nick in his element. The baby sun bear really steals the show in this one.

Just Like That is available now. If miscommunication is your thing, have a read and let us know what you think. Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC. My review and opinions are my own.

Thank you NetGalley and Canelo Publishing for this arc.

This book follows Jess, who is a very successful event planner. She is riding high in her career when her brother suffers a stroke. Since their parents do not take responsibility for her brother, Jess decide to step down on her career and be her brother's caretaker. Her boss is not that understanding (like most bosses in real life) and demotes her to part time with not that great events to manage. She is then sent to an animal reserve that needs to raise funds. There he meets the incredibly grouchy Head Keeper Nick. They can't stand each other even though they have to work closely. This is an enemies to lovers touchy story that showcases how life can change in a blink of an eye. Jess is a strong, caring woman who basically leaves everything for her brother but ends up finding love. Easy, quick and enjoyable read.

The book was quick, easy to read and enjoyable. It had a simple plot that was easy to follow and the setting was really nice. The ending was cute and I really liked it but the chapters before that weren’t that good and almost made me dnf. The story is good until you get to that final stretch. I also think that the story could have been a little shorter and think it was unnecessary to make it that long. Overall it was a good read and it kept me entertained.

This was a simple, fun, easy and quick read. The perfect type of book for your holiday, beach, pool kind of read. This is a first for me by the author and one I enjoyed and I would read more of their work. The book cover is eye-catching and appealing and would spark my interest if in a bookshop. Thank you very much to the author, publisher and Netgalley for this ARC.

As usual in my reviews, I will not rehash the plot or publisher's blurb - there are already reviews like that out there.

This was an enjoyable light read with a "romance" at the heart of it - but the book also deals with severe illness and the effect that has on those who have to care for that person.

I found some parts of the book rather jarring - for instance I didn't understand why Jess jumped to the conclusion that Nick was "hitting on her" at the hospital (it sounded to me as if he was just concerned for a fellow human). If I'm honest I didn't really take to Jess - she came across as a rather "entitled" young woman - but some of the other characters made up for that.

I liked the setting for the book, and the animals were a cute addition to the tale.

This would be an ideal book to take on a journey or holiday.

My thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for an ARC. All opinions my own.

I thought this story started out really strong. The premise was fantastic. A young and upcoming event planner's career is taking off and she is smashing it. The story starts off with Jess, the event planner overseeing a big event and her brother shows up in support. Her boss, Craig is loving her work and the revenue she is bringing into his company so much so that the next time they see each other in the office she can negotiate good terms for her place in the company. As she is doing so she gets an emergency phone call that her young and fit brother has had a major stroke. I thought this is such a unique story and an opportunity to educate that young people can get strokes, also there is an issue that she now needs to advocate for herself regarding labor laws with a boss that isn't very accommodating about her situation as she will now be a caregiver to her brother. They do have parents but depressingly they only want to contribute to Seth their son's recovery only financially.

But the story just goes so from there. In fact, the pace is pages and chapters of basically the same thing and it's a lot of grievance to the point where the story lost my interest. Also, the male love interest Nick leaves much to be desired just the proverbial good looks for a male protagonist.

I forced myself to trudge through the rest of the book even though the book is well written it just lacks in pace and interesting things happening. It is a sweet story with a lot of HEA for both her and her brother Seth.

I would like to thank NetGalley and the publisher Canelo Digital Publishing Limited for the opportunity to read Just Like That by Nina Kaye in exchange for an honest review.

A great read. It deals with some serious issues around being a carer and raises some interesting points. I really liked the setting in the wildlife park too.
