I read the two previous books that are in the same world and unfortunately this one failed to be as exciting to me. Maybe it was a little more mundane for my taste, as there wasn’t as much excitement for me with the book’s setting and I struggled to connect with the characters. I do enjoy Alexis Hall’s writing style, I just think this particular book was not for me

I'll tell you one thing that never happened - the publisher never hired a cover designer and said "oh crap" when it came time to submit cover art, and simply copy and pasted from Alexis Hall's other books. Please, for the love, I cannot keep these books straight (pun intended) in my head.
Anyway, this book was alright. What I will say with my full chest though - in this economy, I would also fake amnesia to avoid possibly losing my job.

I am glad to have read 10 Things that Never Happened (both ebook and audio) during the Trans Rights Readathon week. What a wild concept for a romance - faking amnesia so your boss goes soft and doesn’t fire you and your whole team. It was so wild that, at times, I struggled to actually buy into the fact that either of them were having feelings for each other. In fact, even though we only get Sam’s perspective, I actually believed Jonathan’s feelings to be more genuine than Sam’s. However, I loved Jonathan’s family, the coworkers’ shenanigans, and – of course – Gollum the traitorous cat, so overall this was an entertaining read.
Thank you Sourcebooks Casablanca and Netgalley for the review copy.

Yet another excellent work from Alexis Hall. I love not only the effort Sam puts into his "amnesia," but also Jonathan's manners in caring for him.

Alexis knocked this one out of the park. From the moment I started, I was sucked in. The romance, the wit, the laugh out loud moments. Jonathan and Sam stole my heart and I don't want it back.

Another delightful romp from Alexis Hall. Always awkward, laugh out loud funny, tender, and full of just the right amounts of miscommunication and angst.

A perfect Sunday read, ideal for a relaxing afternoon. While offering moments of levity, the complexity of the characters' families adds depth to the story. It was a welcome departure from thrillers and perfectly aligned with my reading desires this weekend. Highly recommended!

10 Things That Never Happened was such a quirky concept. I could not imagine ever faking amnesia for that long just to not get fired. The characters and storyline was cute and I liked the Christmas tie-in without it feeling too much like a Christmas movie but not sure I ever completely got into the story because of how wild the idea was.

Alexis Hall's books are always so much fun. I loved the chaotic premise of 10 Things that never happened, Sam is such a sweet and playful character in contrast with Jonathan's grumpyness (is that a word? haha). I do wish we got more scenes of them together but I still really enjoyed seeing their relationship evolve.
Somedays you just need a bit of light and Alexis Halls always delivers.
"...I don't know how I'm supposed to go the rest of my life without being kissed by you again."

You’ve got to love a good fake amensia story and this one was delightful. The side characters really shown in this one as well as the quintessential Alexis Hall humor and heart you’ve come to expect from their books. I really enjoyed this one and I’m not sure why I waited so long to read it.

Very fun read! I enjoyed the writing and also really liked Alexis Hall's other books. Cute characters and great plot!
Thank you NetGalley and Alexis Hall!

After loving Boyfriend Material, I was very excited for this book, and honestly it didn’t quite live up to my expectations. I enjoyed the banter but it loved far too slowly. It was cute though.

I really enjoyed the funny parts and how the story had progressed with our couple. The banter was great and so sad the planning and the mishaps that happened throughout. I really enjoy reading this author and how she creates characters

I really enjoyed this book. The main characters seemed to like being together but there was something missing. Some parts seemed a bit chaotic but that was probably on purpose. All in all I enjoyed reading this and would definitely recommend.

First and foremost, the hype was already real. I've been reading Alexis Hall since Glitterland first came out, and well before he had well deserved stonking success with Boyfriend Material.
While this has a slightly different dynamic and structure, the ingredients remain familiar. I must admit, I go into books without reading blurbs so I don't know what I'm expecting, especially with authors I enjoy. Therefore, I took me ages to realise Jonathan was the love interest, I constantly thought a prince was going to leap out of a shower cubicle and give Sam the story he deserves.
Throughout, Alexis won my over though, and as ever provided a great story, and despite the 'out there' set up, the story was really well confined and gave the characters to grow quite naturally. This paid off in the ending and Act 3.
Overall a worthy edition to my Kindle bookshelf, and one I will definitely be reading again in the short term!

I enjoyed this story. This was my first book by Alexis Hall but will not be my last. I love the humor throughout the book and the growth and development of the characters. I have not read a book with an amnesia plot but I really enjoyed it.

thank you to netgalley for the advanced reading copy. I really enjoyed this and will be getting copies for my shop.

I am very grateful for the ARC of this book, but I just do not think it was for me. The banter and dialogue was fun, but the book was just too slow for my liking.

Oh Sam. Sam, Sam, Sam…the silly man who fakes amnesia to maybe save his job and his employees. I loved Sam. But I strongly disliked the faking amnesia of it all. It felt icky and confusing and real loosey goosey as far as what was remembered vs not (but I’m no doctor!) Despite the premise, the chemistry between Sam and Jonathan was SO GOOD. Banter 10/10: I giggled so many times at their grumpy/sunshine dynamic. The true stars of this book though are all the side characters, all of whom were so delightful and so well-written and shaped. I need entire novels on every single store employee and every member of Jonathan’s family like immediately. Possibly the cat also. The name of the bath store is escaping me right now because it was so wild, but also please never stop describing each product sold there by its full government name. I laughed every single time.

Oh my gosh, I had the best time reading this book. This was my first Alexis Hall, but certainly won't be my last. Between grumpy/sunshine, workplace romance, upper/lower class, and FAKE AMNESIA, I was living for the tropes in this one. Jonathan and Sam were so lovely in the way they navigated their feelings for one another. The banter was amazing, and I laughed out loud numerous times. I highly recommend this one, if you want an incredibly earnest yet bonkers romcom that doesn't take itself seriously at all.
