After hearing so many positive things about Susan Walter's books, I was so excited to read Lie by the Pool. And while the first chapters with Bree's perspective grabbed my attention, I felt Carter's perspective to be glaringly different. His narrative was choppy and, frankly, uninteresting. Getting to the actual suspense of the summary was dragged out, and I lost interest by that point.

This book was superb. The writing pulled me in from the very first chapter. I found myself transfixed by the storyline and unable to put it down once I got into it. All the characters were well-developed and relatable. even the outspoken Sophie whose plotline absolutely floored me.
The structure was easy to follow, with just the right number of POV characters to keep it interesting without being confusing. The final twist brought tears to my eyes. A rare suspense thriller with heart. Will be my September bookclub pick. More from this author please!

This book was very different from any other suspense/thriller I’ve ever read. The mystery aspect at the center of this book was super interesting. It seemed very well researched, and the details were fascinating and kept me intrigued. The plot kept me on the edge of my seat, I couldn’t put it down. I came to deeply care for the characters, as they were so well written. Susan Walter knows what she’s doing when it comes to this type of intriguing genre! I can’t wait to read more from this author.
