This is a really cute story that shows how nice it can be to stand out. The rhyming text is great for all ages, but much of the vocabulary is too advanced for the typical picture book audience.

Oh my GOD. I absolutely LOVED this. In was such a fun way to say that you can be whoever you want to be, that you don't need to follow the crowd and listen when they push against you. And I LOVED the shark thinking it was an art installation! That absolutely had me laughing. This is such an important book!

"I want glitter and glamor and drama and dash!
Swagger and spectacle! Dazzle and splash!"

Henry's life as a hermit crab means a dull, drab existence of trying NOT to be noticed. But, he's had enough. He begins attaching sparkly items to his shell, and once he starts, Henry cannot stop. Will his glittery collection get him into trouble? Find out in this fun undersea tale of letting your freak flag fly.

I loved the rhyming test and the colorful pages. Great story for children about being true to yourself.

Henry the hermit crab is tired of his dull, drab shell. He wants to sparkle and shine like many of the other sea creatures he sees around him, though the other crabs caution that dressing up his shell so that he doesn’t blend in might make him a target for hungry critters. Henry doesn’t heed the warning and covers his shell with trinkets and treasures. When a hungry octopus—and a shark—spy Henry and he realizes that the weight of his decorated shell has pinned him down, will he find that his choice was a mistake?

Young readers will enjoy the rhyming text and fun illustrations as they follow Henry’s journey to being himself and standing out from the crowd. It makes a great alternative to the traditional Rainbow Fish story.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an eARC to read and review.

What a FABULOUS book! “I’m Fabulous Crab” is a light an easy going book, packed with color and exciting visuals with a great message to share. It’s reminiscent of The Rainbow fish, but with its own style. My son was so engrossed with Henry the Crab that he had me read the book again. It was a fun way to get him talking about being your own true self and learning to share and be kind to others, even if they look different than you. We look forward to reading this book again and again and sharing Henry’s story with others.

Henry, the ordinary hermit crab is not happy with his ordinary shell and wants to add some pizzazz to it. Even though his family and friends don’t agree, Henry heads out in search of things to make his shell shine and sparkle and basically just FABULOUS.
The moral of the story is that if you aren’t happy in your shell, find what will make you happy, the more glitter the better! Be yourself!

I'm fabulous crab is a rhyming tale of Henry Crab, who gets tired of dull uniformity and transforms into Fabulous Crab, a crab with all the sparkle and shine that can be obtained from a bottom-of-the-sea ship wreck. This book is not science, not nature but all arty expression and fun for kids. I'm Fabulous Crab captures the joy of creating.

What a delightful book that I would give to my 3rd grader! Standing out and not following what’s always been done or what you’re “supposed” to act like. But then also to know if you’re in a position to stand up to bullies and help little ones come out or dress up their shell, it is like a pass it forward for more kids to be comfortable in their own skin

My 8 year old said "I like this one because it taught me to be yourself and that it's a good thing." The illustrations are gorgeous and I thought the story was fun and memorable. Thank you for the ARC of this book. I can't wait to buy this one as a gift for friends and family!

Henry the crab is bored with drab, he wants to be Fabulous! Unfortunately his friends think that is not a wise idea. They don't want him to stand out, it's too dangerous! A fun (and colorful) book about being different and being accepted for all that you are...maybe more than accepted, maybe you're art!

Henry is tired of being a drab hermit crab like all the others. He wants to stand out with glitter and sparkle.
While it presents some risks, it all works out in the end.

I liked the book, but I'm not entirely sure what the message is from the story. I think the story is cute though and I can my young patrons loving this story and wanting to read it at the library. I will recommend this for purchase at my library.

I’m Fabulous Crab! By Nicki Greenberg is a fun and colorful book about being yourself. The rhyming text flows perfectly with the equally brilliant illustrations. Through some difficulties, Fabulous Crab teaches kids about being themselves. He shows the reader that it’s perfectly okay not to fit in. If you accept yourself, others may see that spark and want to be like you! What a great message for kids, hidden in a vibrant and humorous book!

This was funny and cute and awesome! Very reminiscent of the crab scene in Moana. I adored it.

A great story about taking charge and being true to yourself. Told in rhyming verse—the meter and rhyme scheme for this one were fantastic. So often children's writing ends up with verse that feels clunky and contrived. But with this book, it flowed beautifully—adding to the story, rather than taking away from it.

This book definitely sparked joy for me.

The hermit crabs have always tried to stay out of sight, but one day Henry changes his name to Fabulous and decides he's done with the old boring life. But being bright and shiny has its own disadvantages...

Who doesn't love a shiny crab? This fun oceanic story features self-confidence and and an appreciation for art. The illustrations are bright and fun, and the story relatable.

Thanks to NetGalley and Nicki Greenberg for the delightful chance to review this lovely children’s book. It was about being able to be a part of the group but also be willing to be your true self. Regardless of the consequences, our little crab is not afraid to sparkle and shine even in the face of danger. That’s when he finds out he has real friends who care. I’m already adding this book to my Christmas gift list for some young readers in my family. Definitely I’m recommending it to everyone 🥰.
