**⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ – A Heartfelt, Tension-Filled Romance with a Dash of Suspense**
*Ms. Perfectly Fine* by Kate Callaghan is a delightful blend of romantic tension, emotional depth, and just the right hint of mystery. Autumn Adler is the kind of complex, guarded heroine who commands attention—fiercely talented, emotionally scarred, and laser-focused on reclaiming her career as a concert pianist after a life-altering accident. She’s not looking for love—or roommates. Unfortunately for her, the easygoing and infuriatingly charming Elijah Wells has just moved into the bottom floor of her beloved home.
Cue the sparks.
What follows is a wonderfully tense enemies-to-lovers slow burn with classic forced proximity and all the satisfying tropey goodness readers love. Elijah is pure sunshine: patient, funny, persistent, and completely smitten with Autumn’s grumpy walls and hidden softness. The fact that he clearly falls first (and harder) makes their dynamic extra satisfying. Their banter is sharp, the chemistry strong, and the emotional payoff well worth the build-up.
Beyond the romance, the subplot involving a mysterious and unsettling gift adds a compelling thread of suspense that keeps the pages turning. While some twists might feel slightly underdeveloped, the tension it creates adds a new dimension to the story and gives Autumn and Elijah a reason to team up beyond their simmering attraction.
Callaghan handles themes like chronic pain and emotional healing with empathy and grace, making *Ms. Perfectly Fine* more than just a charming romance—it's also a story about resilience and learning to let someone in.
Fans of grumpy/sunshine dynamics, cozy mysteries, and tender slow burns will find plenty to enjoy here. A lovely, layered read that’s both swoony and satisfying.

This book featured a lot of tell not show. I think Autumn didn't always come off as grumpy and instead came off as rude a lot, it's a fine line in these enemies to lovers trope books! This book also had a stalker in it... which is a surprise based off of the cover so you should know that going into it.
Thanks netgalley for the ARC!

I got swept away with Ms Perfectly Fine by Kate Callaghan—living alongside Autumn Adler and Elijah Wells felt like falling into a perfectly charged rom‑com with a suspense twist. Autumn’s hard work to reclaim her life as a concert pianist after a traumatic accident—and her daily battle with chronic pain—felt visceral and deeply personal. That familiar tension of forcing yourself to stay ‘fine’ even when you’re not? Hit hard. Autumn manages her pain quietly, keeping routines in place and telling everyone she’s okay, even when she’s not—that rang true .
Watching Elijah squeeze into her life (and basement) uninvited sparked all the grumpy‑meets‑sunshine energy. Their banter? Deliciously charged. It felt genuine, funny, and sincere, building compelling chemistry long before anything steamy popped up . When Elijah’s presence collides with Autumn’s fierce need for a sanctuary, sparks flew—and suddenly that forced proximity trope became something even richer.
Then there’s the thriller turn: the “innocent” gifts and creeping stalker subplot pulled me right back into the narrative with my heart pounding. It’s not a typical romance beat, but it fit like a glove—and Noir‑tinged suspense is exactly my jam .
The only thing that had me raising an eyebrow was the pace of the suspense arc—it felt like it could’ve been stretched out just a bit more for sweetness—but overall, the tension, healing, and emotional truth kept me engaged .
Living in Autumn’s pain‑managed bubble, falling for Elijah’s low‑key charm, and then having real fear stir things up—it felt intense in the best way. Night‑owl reading sessions? Guilty as charged. Ms Perfectly Fine is exactly the kind of heartfelt, spicy, unpredictable contemporary romance I’ll be recommending for late‑night escapism.

This is a romantic suspense in the same way that James Patterson is romantic suspense, heavy on the suspense. Overall, there was just too many plotlines going on for me to really enjoy the book.

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
The book was cute, bit I just don't know if t was for me.
I really liked their banter and relationship. The stalker storyline I think could have been better because they did not treat it like a big deal until the end. I also would've liked a little bit more of a lowborn.
The writing was good however, I would read another book by this author.
If you enjoy romcoms, I would recommend it. It has a bit of an enemies to lovers vibe, roommates, and forced proximity tropes.

Thank you to NetGalley for the e-ARC of this novel. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I struggled with this one. Our FMC, Autumn, is a professional musician with chronic plain, so living solo is quite important to her. Tell me WHY her landlord (who knows her life story) moves another man into her home without informing her. That decision alone felt not only wildly unrealistic but also very illegal. Come to find out, her landlord has other not-so-great characteristics and secrets.
I did enjoy the beginning, however, by around the 28% mark, I lost interest. The MMC, Elijah, falls into insta-love territory very quickly, while Autumn seems to accept this whole bizarre situation far too easily. Her best friend’s lack of concern about the living arrangement also felt ridiculous. How was everyone OK with this? “Maybe he’s the medicine you need” I’m sorry but our girl is stressed out as it is, why would moving a random man into her safe place make her “better”!?
The novel is told in dual POV but written in third person, which didn’t quite work for me. The banter between characters fluctuated in tone, as well. One line would be cute, flirty, and witty, while the next would be borderline creepy and oddly placed.
Maybe this could have been a novella for the romance element, because SURPRISE – there’s also a mystery. We had breadcrumbs of the mystery throughout the first 70% of the book, and once the romance & relationship was established, the novel turns into a “whodunit”.
Oddly enough, the ending did sort of make it better with all my unanswered questions. Was I expecting a plot twist, no. Was it completely unhinged for a romance, yes.
And this is why I had trust issues with DNFing!
Final rating: 2.25-2.5 stars.

A fun, lighthearted romance about a perfectionist learning to let loose — and fall in love. Charming, sweet, and full of good vibes. Easy to devour in one sitting.

Unfortunately this wasn’t the book for me. The premise is good. The writing is good. I just couldn’t connect.

**3-Star Review of *Ms. Perfectly Fine* by Kate Callaghan**
*Ms. Perfectly Fine* by Kate Callaghan is a charming, contemporary romance that offers an enjoyable escape into the world of relationships and self-discovery. The story follows the journey of a woman trying to balance the expectations of others with her own desires, which many readers will find relatable.
The writing is engaging, and Callaghan does a good job of creating likable characters. The protagonist, though likable, can come off as a bit too "perfect" at times, which may make it harder to connect deeply with her. The romance is sweet, though somewhat predictable, and the story unfolds in a fairly familiar pattern for fans of the genre.
One thing I did appreciate was the focus on personal growth, as the book does touch on themes of self-worth, overcoming past mistakes, and finding your own path. However, the pacing felt uneven at points, and some secondary characters seemed underdeveloped, leaving parts of the narrative feeling less dynamic than they could have been.
Overall, *Ms. Perfectly Fine* is a fun and light read, but it doesn’t quite offer the depth or complexity that would elevate it beyond a typical romantic comedy. It’s a solid pick for fans of feel-good, character-driven stories, but not particularly groundbreaking.

Unfortunately needed to DNF. Couldn’t get into the characters and the story itself. Just wasn’t for me.
Thank you for an arc of this book in exchange for an honest review!

This book was pretty quick and sweet, but unfortunately it didn’t quite live up to my expectations.
I liked the overall storyline; however, the writing was just so hard to get into. It felt a little choppy and very predictable, which drew me out of the story. There was a bit of a mystery element to it which was a nice touch. I did guess who was stalking Autumn pretty quickly, but it still added a little bit more interest to the story.
I think the main thing I struggled with was the character’s connections with each other. They fell in love with each other pretty quickly, and I just wish we got more development.
There were some cute moments in this book! I could see this book working for someone that’s looking for a quick read. It just wasn’t for me.

The cute cover of this book drew me in, but unfortunately, it didn't live up to it. The characters were okay but a tad one-dimensional. This book seemed almost like an Insta-love romance, which is not what it is advertised as. Overall, this book was not perfectly fine; it was perfectly mid.
I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

A cute grumpy/sunshine and enemies to lovers story that wasn't anything special. I love the title of this book though ☺️

If you're in the mood for a book that will make you laugh, cry, and nod your head in recognition at the real struggles of adulting, Ms. Perfectly Fine by Kate Callaghan is a must-read.
The heroine, who’s totally “fine” (no, really, she’s fine… or is she?), is such a relatable character that you might feel like you’re looking in a mirror. On the outside, she’s got her life together—she’s working hard, looking good, and somehow managing to juggle everything. But underneath it all, she’s just a normal woman trying to figure out her place in the world, dealing with the chaos of life, love, and the constant pressure of keeping up appearances.
Then there’s the romance. Oh, the romance. Callaghan does an incredible job creating that slow-burn tension that makes you want to scream “Just kiss already!” while also making you believe in the power of real connection. The chemistry is off the charts, and you’ll find yourself rooting for these two even when they’re being stubborn or refusing to admit they might actually be kind of perfect for each other.
The writing was fresh in a non cringey way and whitty. I do enjoy good banter and this book delivered!

Kate Callaghan’s *Ms. Perfectly Fine* delivers a compelling blend of romance and suspense, infused with healing and hope. With a strong grumpy (her) x sunshine (him) dynamic and plenty of slow-burning chemistry, this enemies-to-lovers tale tugs at the heartstrings while keeping readers on edge with its darker undertones.
Autumn Adler is a fascinating protagonist—a world-renowned concert pianist battling chronic pain after a devastating accident. Her intense focus on reclaiming her career makes her fiercely independent and closed off, but her vulnerability shines through in her quieter moments. Elijah Wells, on the other hand, is her perfect foil: an optimistic, determined game designer who refuses to be put off by Autumn’s icy demeanor. His patience and charm make him immediately likable, and his unwavering support as Autumn’s walls start to crack adds emotional depth to their relationship.
The forced proximity between Autumn and Elijah, brought about by their shared living situation, sets the stage for plenty of humorous and heartfelt exchanges. Their evolving dynamic—from mutual irritation to reluctant truce, and finally to undeniable attraction—is crafted with care, and Elijah’s "he falls first and harder" arc is especially swoon-worthy.
However, this isn’t just a romance. The suspense element, tied to a mysterious gift and Autumn’s looming showcase, adds an intriguing layer of tension. While this subplot is engaging, it occasionally feels underdeveloped, leaving questions unanswered and a sense that it could have been explored further.
Callaghan also handles themes of healing and resilience with sensitivity. Autumn’s struggles with chronic pain and the emotional toll of her accident are portrayed realistically, making her journey toward acceptance and vulnerability all the more satisfying. Elijah’s unwavering support emphasizes the importance of empathy and partnership, even when faced with personal challenges.
While the book delivers on its tropes and themes, it does stumble slightly in pacing, with some sections feeling rushed while others linger unnecessarily. Additionally, while the romantic tension between Autumn and Elijah is palpable, the transition from enemies to lovers could have used more buildup to fully capitalize on their emotional payoff.
*Ms. Perfectly Fine* is a heartfelt story perfect for fans of grumpy-sunshine dynamics, forced proximity, and emotional healing. With its mix of romance, humor, and suspense, it’s a satisfying read that will appeal to those who enjoy complex characters and love stories with a touch of intrigue.

This book has been on my Netgalley for a bit and I haven’t picked it up. I haven’t been into romance in a minute, so I’m not the right person to review it anymore.

Kate Callaghan’s Ms Perfectly Fine is a delightful exploration of love, ambition, and the messy middle ground where the two often collide. The protagonist, Clara, is both relatable and refreshingly imperfect, navigating the world of modern relationships and career pressures with humor and vulnerability. Callaghan’s prose is witty and engaging, drawing readers into Clara’s world with vivid descriptions and sharp dialogue.
What stands out is the authenticity of Clara's emotional journey; readers will find themselves nodding in recognition at her struggles to balance her desire for independence with the yearning for connection. The supporting characters are equally compelling, each adding depth and charm to the story. While the pacing occasionally slows, the heartfelt moments and laugh-out-loud humor more than compensate.
Overall, Ms Perfectly Fine is a heartwarming, feel-good read that’s perfect for fans of contemporary romance.

I really enjoyed this one. It was my first book by Kate and it really surprised me. The romance was so cute!
