Love an easy to read romance with a great book boyfriend!

Ms Perfectly Fine is a very cute read and both main characters were really good and easy to like!

If the book has a playlist, I'm immediately gonna add it to my TBR and this book was no exception.

I loved the FMC and MMC - their chemistry was literally coming off the pages for me. Their friendship, banter, romance. It was everything I needed. Their interactions had me laughing and I couldn't believe how much I loved them!

I do think that the plot was a bit sticky for me - it didn't do exactly what I felt like it was going to do. It ran to the finish line and honestly that was fine, but I was looking forward to the suspense being drawn out a smidgen more. Mainly because I truly didn't anticipate any kind of suspense in this book!

You'll love this book if you love
- Close proximity/ Roommates
- Reverse grumpy sunshine
- Chronic pain rep
- Friends to lovers
- Spice
- Little bit of suspense

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Ms. Perfectly Fine was a perfectly fine book. Enough romance to keep the reader rooting for the characters, but nothing too over the top. The book held my interest as I spent 10 years of my childhood learning and performing on the piano. It was nice to have that musical connection. I was a bit more interested as the book took a turn for mystery/thriller and things went awry! Coupling romance with mystery will always be my favorite way to read about love!

Thank you NetGalley, CallaghanWriter, and author Kate Callaghan for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I felt this writing was very repetitive. The author told us the same thing in different ways multiple times. It was hard to get into a story when it seemed like every other paragraph reminded you of the FMCS back story.

Ms Perfectly Fine is a typical grumpy meets sunshine and enemies to lovers romcom with forced proximity and changing perspectives - Autumn and Elijah. There were also some thriller elements which I‘m not really sure I liked or not. It was not bad but I had the feeling it was not really thought through especially as out of the blue it escalated pretty quickly and the solution was not that convincing. A bit over the top.

All in all, I liked the mostly well-written story of Autumn and Elijah, their backstory and development. But as I love a good slow-burn I felt the characters fell in love too quickly too hard.

Even though there were some serious elements, especially Autumn‘s back-story and chronic illness issues - it was a fun contemporary read which I enjoyed. Nothing overwhelmingly outstanding but a solid read.

The chronic illness issue was really interesting. To show how Autumn struggled with severe pain and spasms affecting her daily life was important to talk about and raise awareness. A great addition to the story!

3.5/5 💕

Was the first thing that popped into my head Taylor Swift’s Fearless vault track? 100%. However, Kate Callaghan’s novel is a far cry from the poppy tune, tackling grief and chronic disability for her main female character. I fully admit that I had some pre-conceived notions about this before reading it based on the description and the cover art. The representation and the beats highlighting Autumn’s coping with chronic pain are a standout component of this read. The romance didn’t immediately win me over, but there were some charming moments. Interestingly, it seemed like there were some big pendulum shifts from “endearingly grounded” to “bafflingly outlandish” in the romance between Autumn and Elijah.

For some of the standout elements of this book, I think there’s a chance it may have simply bitten off more than it could chew. Between the incorporation of the past pieces of Autumn’s accident/grief/processing, Autumn’s romance with Elijah, his family and professional subplots, and the suspenseful/thriller subplot, the narrative gets lost in the sauce. For me, the weakest part of the narrative was the suspense subplot because while I fully acknowledge that groundwork was laid early in the book for pieces of it, the resolution of that plot-line ended up causing a pretty harsh tone shift in the last quarter of the book. My gut reaction is that this book could’ve benefitted from some edits. I think some of the bones have potential but it didn’t quite live up to it.

Romantic, Charming, Intense.

I really enjoyed reading this book, there were unexpected twists and turns which turned into a page turner for me.

My main conclusion from reading this book is everyone needs an Elijah. I love the name Autumn and I really think it suited this Autumn.

I would love to see a sequel or a short story follow up to what is happening in Elijah and Autumn's lives.

Content warnings for the book are listed on the copyright page. Tropes can be found on the author's website.

If you like enemies to lovers, forced proximity, suspense, I definitely recommend checking this one out. It was a 4.5 star read for me. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a gifted copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

this was a cute story but it left me wanting more. i enjoyed the tropes in this book: reluctant roommates to lovers, reverse grumpy/sunshine, close proximity and he falls first. i loved the funny banter between the two main characters! this is one aspect that was really well done in this book. i also loved the chronic pain/mental health representation and thought it made autumn more relatable. the characters were likeable enough, especially elijah, but we never really got to know them on a deeper level. i did love elijah's dog, brinkley, though! there was a suspense/mystery aspect that only became prominent towards the end that i felt like the author should've brought up sooner because it felt rushed. i also kind of got whiplash from how fast they went from hating each other to loving each other. overall, it was a fun cute read with tropes i love and good representation, which is always positive, but i had some issues with it that made it good rather than great.

Ms Perfectly Fine is a romantic suspense dealing with topics of chronic pain, anxiety, and post traumatic stress. I enjoyed Elijah and Autumn’s banter in their early stages of getting to know each other and I absolutely loved Brinkley and wished she was my dog! Overall, I found this is to a great read and would highly recommend to a friend. Thank you again to the publisher and netgalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Ms Perfectly Fine is a new contemporary romance story from Kate Callaghan. It is the forced proximity enemies to lovers romance story of Autumn and Elijah, with an added element of suspense/thriller as Autumn has a stalker whose identity is unknown. The narrative is well-paced and an easy read, perfect to curl up with and read in a single sitting.
Autumn was a fantastic female main character and I loved the contrast between her grumpy side and Elijah’s sunshine personality. We have incredible chronic pain and mental health representation through Autumn’s character and it was wonderful to have this representation without it defining the character. Her monologue towards the end of the book about chronic pain was really powerful and a standout aspect of the story.
I’m a sucker for any story where he falls first and harder and this was no exception. Elijah was a fantastic, charming love interest and I loved the banter between the two of them. He really looked after Autumn whilst still supporting her to get out of her comfort zone and more towards a place of healing which was wonderful to read. Elijah and Autumn had incredible chemistry and I loved the spicy scenes which were very well written.
The suspense thriller element added another dimension to your typical romance novel and I thought this was really interesting. The stalker’s identity was predictable for me but based on other reviews I’ve read I seem to be in the minority with this one. I would have liked this aspect of the story to have been more drawn out however as it felt rushed and more of an afterthought than the well-crafted plot point it could have been. My gut says that this was because the book was almost trying to be two things in one: a romance story and a thriller. This could have worked but in order to effectively tell both aspects of the story the book needed to be longer.
Overall, Ms Perfectly Fine is a great cosy read for fans of the forced proximity, grumpy x sunshine and he falls first and harder tropes. It is also good for readers who like both the romance and thriller genres as the book combines the two into one story.

A thoroughly great read. I don't usually go for books with a serious thread such as chronic pain, but it was done so well, still being entertaining whilst raising my awareness of some of the issues. The main characters were very well crafted and I really invested in their relationship. I felt some of the background characters needed a little more fleshing out, for example Autumn's parents. Other than that, a really well written novel.

When I went into this book, I was so excited for the enemies to lovers/grumpy sunshine thriller aspect and I was not disappointed. Even though this was a 3 star read for me, I found myself really enjoying myself while reading. I’m a sucker for bickering and he falls first so you can tell why I liked this book for what it was. If you’re looking for an easy read filled with fun jokes, suspense, and a cute little romance, this would be great for you!

Unfortunately, Ms. Perfectly Fine left me in a reading funk, and finishing it felt like a prolonged journey. The plot revolves around Autumn, a concert pianist making a comeback after a traumatic incident, disrupted by unexpected distractions in her living space. Despite being marketed as enemies-to-lovers, the slow pacing and the absence of genuine animosity from Elijah didn't deliver the anticipated tension.

While I appreciated the portrayal of Autumn's struggles with chronic pain, the addition of a stalker/mystery subplot felt unnecessary and detracted from the main narrative. It left me wishing for a more focused exploration of the core themes.

In the end, Ms. Perfectly Fine didn't meet my expectations, and I would caution others to consider skipping it. The unfulfilled promise of the enemies-to-lovers theme, combined with a slow plot and an unnecessary subplot, made this a challenging and less enjoyable read for me.

The Author’s Note at the beginning was a nice touch to start the book off with. The story is dual POV, Autumn’s and Elijah’s, but you also learn about them as characters through the povs. Autumn has trauma from when she was younger, which she never fully got over. Elijah has trauma too, just a different form of it than Autumn. Throughout reading this, you can tell that they both start developing feelings for each other but are afraid to actually initiate anything, though there is banter and flirting (to some extent) going on.

Elijah learns about Autumn’s past and accepts it, he doesn’t try to change. Instead, he asks her what he can do to help her with all that she’s going through.

This story was a good read, there was one thing that happened during the progression of the book that left me speechless.

Thank you to Netgalley, the publishers and of course the author for gifting me this advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review.

Following the story of Autumn and Elijah in this enemies to lovers trope. Elijah falls fast and hard for Autumn but Autumn isn't interested......at first. Autumn is less than pleased when her landlord rents out the ground floor of her townhouse to Elijah and with her trying to make a comeback with he solo pianist career the last thing she needs is a stranger in her house distracting her. However Elijah has no intentions of leaving and Autumns distast only fuels him into wanting to make Autumn fall for him.

Thought this was a really cute, quick read in the end but does follow some difficult content regarding trauma, stalking and chronic pain.

I really enjoyed this book! As soon as I picked it up and started it, I knew that I was going to want to finish it as soon as I could. It focuses on two people who are forced to live together and at the beginning hate each other and make each other miserable. It quickly became a book that I wanted to drop everything to be able to go back and read. This is one that I could definitely see myself reading again.

Thank you NetGalley for the review copy!

A soft romance that could have been more as just couldnt connect to the mc's - bonus points for chronic pain rep!

It's a cute book but nothing special. It took me a while to finish this book so this may influence my opinion on it.
