The Book Proposal had me cackling from the very first chapter. Gracie was extremely relatable and it was so easy to sympathize with her for a lot of reasons, but especially for her love life awkwardness and in her general love for food, even when both betray her. She is unapologetically herself, and I love to see that in a FMC. I wish there was a little more spice - there was ample opportunity, and while it wasn't exactly closed door, it also wasn't open door either. The door was solidly cracked, which just felt like an unfair tease, which I fully acknowledge is a personal problem. *insert laughing emoji here* Otherwise I very much enjoyed everything about this story. The narrators brought so much life and joy into the reading, and I would absolutely listen to more from them.

The Book Proposal had a premise that I was really interested in-I love bookish books and the unrequited love is one of my favorite tropes. I will say, however, despite my hopes, that it just fell flat. I'm not sure if it was just me or others would see this as well, but it felt like it just wasn't connecting like a good book would. The chemistry seemed off. I didn't hate the book, because again, the premise was interesting, but I didn't love it like I thought the premise deserved.
I received a copy from netgalley in exchange for an honest and fair review.

The Book Proposal is the debut novel by author KJ Micciche. In this funny, caringly constructed novel, the readers are introduced to romance author Grace Landing. Grace has a wonderful opportunity for a big two book deal. Her agent, Lindsay Ellerton, is in negotiations. Nothing is in writing yet except the second novel Grace needs to produce for the deal. And Grace is struggling with that!
Real life has thrown Grace some curves in the past year. Her former fiancé had worked so well with their wedding planner that he is now married to her and they have a new baby. Grace and her girlfriends have been celebrating that she dodged the bullet, but her celebration took her home in the back of an Uber. In her jumbled mind, Grace sends an alcohol fueled email to the object of her high school affections after going through her old yearbook and is amazed when she gets an answer. Even more amazed when they make a connection. And overwhelmed when it seems they are a couple. In fact, Colin is feeding her ideas for the book she is struggling with. However, the ramifications of this are unimaginable and dramatic.
This is such a fun, laugh out loud tale! The characters are so well imagined and the plot has enough twists to keep it interesting and surprising all through the story. I very much enjoyed this book and look forward to more from this new author.

I was so looking forward to this book but I just could not get into in. It was s low start and then it just felt like the characters were dragging their heels throughout; Really disappointing.

Absolutely loved this book! The concept was one I have not read before of a story inside a story and thought that was pretty neat. Giving all of the build up as well I though there would be more spice (not needed to enjoy the story I just felt like it was coming and it never did). The narrators did an amazing job with the feelings pouring out of each character. Overall the story gets a 5 and would definitely recommend.
Thank you netgalley for the arc in return for an honest opinion

Gracie Landing had a major HS crush named Colin. Fifteen years later, Gracie is a successful writer but not rich because she’s a ghostwriters and romance novelists and they aren’t paid a lot. She’s getting over a messy breakup with her fiancé who cheated with the wedding planner, got her pregnant and they marry. Gracie is justifiably bitter and forlorn. Gracie’s girlfriends take her out for a wild night to cheer her up and she ends up being tossed in and Uber by her buddies and home looking through her HS yearbook. She sees her former crush Colins name and googles him. This takes a lot of concentration because she is very drunk. So she mistakes a pic of his balding, pudgy law partner as him and sends a very unflattering drunk text and passes out. She’s surprised the next morning to receive a slightly confused but maybe a little flirty text back from Colin. IRL, Colin is still quite attractive and Gracie instantly turns onto that smitten 14 year old from HS. Colin has been divorces for 6 months after only being married for 6 month and he’s a little lost too. Gracie has writer’s block on a very tight deadline for her new book and Colin offers to help her. A LOT happens…commiseration, dates, sex, confusion and missteps on both of their parts. But you hope they survive all the bumps because he’s a really nice guy and she’s hilarious.

This book was so freaking cute. Gracie is totally relatable as the female main character. There were so many times in the book where her actions or internal thoughts had me physically laughing out loud. Her drunken emails to her high school crush Colin, was just the icing in the cake. The audiobook was very well done, and this is absolutely a book I would buy for myself and read again.

**please note due to low rating I will not be leaving a public review for this book as I have not paid for it.**

Story by KJ Micciche ⭐⭐
This is my first time trying KJ Micciche, and while I did not enjoy this story I would try the author again.
The reason I didn't like this story was mostly down to the characters. I felt they were too cheesy and just could not get into the story.

Beautiful Cover? Check. Beautiful Title? Check. Beautiful Plot? Also Check! When I saw that this was a book about a romance author and her unrequited crush from high school teaming up to write a novel I immediately hit request.
Gracie is a hot mess. She was recently dumped and struggling for money. To cheer herself up, she got drunk with her friends. In her drunken haze, Gracie thought it would be a brilliant idea to email her old high school crush, Colin. Even though it wasn't the friendliest email, Colin was intrigued and emailed Gracie back. Soon they were emailing each other daily.
This was a dramatic, ridiculously fun and sexy debut romance book!

"The Book Proposal" is a heartwarming romance, the female main character is Gracie who reconnects with a crush from highschool.
This story is relatable, cute and a fast read overall. The book provides much insight on the life as a writer, since that's Gracies's profession. Both main characters, Gracie and Colin, have their struggles, which are very relatable. The obstacles they're facing adds depth to their story together. Gracie's goofiness made me laugh several times, which I really enjoyed.
"The book proposal" is a fun romcom, with some very entertaining and hilarious monents - exactly what I was hoping for!

The Book Proposal has such a cute premise - romance author meets old high school crush, high school crush inspires new romance book, mix up occurs, and then all live happily ever after. It isn't super unique, but cute and appealed to my book lover's soul that can't resist a bookish book! However, the execution was a little lacking. My first main problem with this book was the huge amount of toilet humour. I think the author was trying to be relatable while adding humour. However, it really missed the mark. The continual mentions of digestive upset and other bodily functions went too far. For a clean, closed-door romance, the continual, gross toilet jokes really took me out of the fluffy, cutesy story. None of it served the story or plot either. I found it quite jarring. My other issue was that there seemed to be little character growth. I felt our main character made the same mistakes at the end of the book as she did at the beginning. As a first time author, I'd likely still check out any subsequent books but this one missed the mark for me.

an adorable book related romance. I didn't really enjoy the whole 'revenge' aspect. but i did love the rest!
3.5 stars.

The Book Proposal is a light and fluffy romcom with great banter and charming characters that you need to add to your summer TBR. This could easily be adapted into a successful romcom movie. My only complaint is the FMC is an erotic author, I thought this book would've had more spice considering that, I think the tension between the characters could've been improved in that way.. but it was sweet instead. If you're looking for spicy, this isn't the book for you.. but if you want a sweet romcom, it is a definite read!
Narration of the audiobook was fantastic! I really look forward to future reads from this new author :)
Thank you to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for this ALC!

This was a good book about a romance writer who is dumped before her wedding and emails her high school crush from ages ago where the two begin a friendship online. I listened to the audiobook version of the book and enjoyed the narration. It was very well done as I mostly prefer to physically read my books. I enjoyed the storyline of this book and its plot but I do have to say that it was a bit messy. Nothing was in order and some scenes felt messy like they shouldn't have been there. The pacing was great though. I did enjoy the email exchange letters that the author included in the story. There were many funny and cute moments in the book that was amazingly done. This book is written in dual perspectives which readers will enjoy.
Gracie is the main lead and I have to say that she was a but annoying at first. She felt childish for a 30-year-old but I enjoyed that she was a writer. She did have a character development which is great and she was funny at times. Then there is Colin who is a hot attorney. He was a great character and I enjoyed his perspective of the story. He also had a great character development in the book. There weren't many side characters which I was kind of surprised about. There were some minor ones but Gracie and Colin were in the full spotlight of this story. The romance was cute and I did enjoy the chemistry between them. It was a second-chance romance with a bit of spice.
The ending was great and well-written. Overall I did enjoy this book but I did have some minor issues with it. It's one of those reads that are light and fluffy with some cute romance. So much is happening that it keeps your head circling to know what is happening. I do recommend checking this book out because many of you will love it.

This book was cute! I think I liked the unique premise of the book better than the book itself but it was still a fun, entertaining read.

The Book Proposal is a witty, contemporary romance, and I liked Gracie and Colin's characters. There were several parts that were laugh out loud funny, and it felt like I knew these characters in real life. Even though this was an adult novel, the profanity was a bit much for my liking; thankfully, it didn't take away from the fun of the plot.
Thank you to Sourcebooks Casablanca and NetGalley for this advanced copy. I voluntarily read and reviewed this ARC, and all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to listen to this audiobook!
The story was nice, it was a nice concept and the characters were quite likeable, it's a very entertaining easy read.
The audiobook was great too, I think the narrators nailed the characters and understood how to express their emotions.

Thank you NetGalley for this wonderful book.
I absolutely adored this audiobook. I laughed so hard. Gracie is simply my new favorite character. This totally needs to be a movie. She is so real and funny. Colin is so kind and the partner we all want in life.
It was the old trope with first loves and high school sweethearts reuniting, but who cares she told an awesome story .
I simply adored this book. I want a follow up. There are so many ways to make another one. What happens with Colin and his dad, what happened to "L", so many things I want to know.
This is one. you should run and get. It's a perfect summer read.
Solid 4.5

This audiobook was amazing. I loved it from the very beginning! The narrators did great bringing Gracie and Colin to life.
Who couldn’t love a story that begins with a drunken email being sent to a high school crush.
Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape for a copy of this audiobook. This is my voluntary honest review.

The Book Proposal by K.J. Micciche is a contemporary romance novel about a romance author and her high school crush who join forces to write a novel together.
Grace is having a hard time with various things in her personal life and is therefore struggling to write happily ever after stories. When she accidentally drunk texts her former crush, and they begin to correspond, she realizes that they have both changed and grown. Colin agrees to help her overcome her writer’s block and find her inspiration for her stories. Things are amazing, until they aren’t.
This is a cute concept, and definitely has its moments of light-hearted banter, humor, and a sweet outcome, but the characters were at time, difficult to route for. They were clearly adults, but often behaved like rather crude young teens, and there wasn’t a significant amount of character to at least cheer on.
The voice actors were Nick Mondelli and Kelli Tager and they both narrated a clear, character-appropriate story. Although this enemies to lovers romance wasn’t necessarily my cup of tea, I did enjoy it, with it’s witty banter, tender moments and eventual HEA.
