This was such a unique story! I loved it. It wasn’t so much a second chance, where they knew each other in high school. Gracie was obsessed with Colin, he knew of her. So this is her second chance, in a way. She wrote love letters to him in her journal, and that opened her world to writing romance stories. Fast forward to being dumped, she goes out to drink her sorrows away. She pulls the yearbook out and it reminded of her past love and hurt. So she drunk emails him and inadvertently reconnects with him.
The email exchanges were just delightful! Colin was immediately likable. Gracie was funny and sweetly awkward. The relationship as it develops was so sweet! I loved the twists and turns the story took. This was so well done!
Content: Swears (the main 3 words or so and the F word), open door. Most of the open door stuff was descriptions from her book excerpts.

Fantastic start to a new career for the author KJ Micciche. Grace the MC will have you laughing throughout the book. Nothing is off limits, from her embarrassing moments of being drunk, to her struggle to be a writer, being broke and dumped by her fiancé are just a few of her problems. In one of her low moments she sends off a email to her high school crush that gave her the nickname Elvis. She lets loose all the anger she has for the incident that happened 10 years ago.
Colin gets the weirdest email, can’t believe something that stupid has Grace all in a twist……it was 10 years ago. So he emails her back with an apology assuming she had to have been drunk. And so starts the reconnect of two people on a hilarious journey to find their HEA.
I listened to the audiobook and the narrator was so good. A bit embarrassing for me when I was laughing out loud during my walks. This may not be a read for everyone, but if you want something lighthearted and a bit crazy funny this is for you. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. #NetGalley #ABookProposal

I just found everything about this book horrible. The writing, the characters and the narrator. It was very difficult for me to finish this book.

The dialogue and scenes were laugh out loud funny at several points, but the characters were forgettable. Very entertaining and a quick read. Low spice level, which was disappointing since the main character’s novels were described as extremely hot.

Thank you NetGalley, publisher, and author, for giving me a chance to review this audiobook. I initially started reading "The Book Proposal" via the e-book ARC. And midway through, I switched to listening to the audiobook and reading the e-book in conjunction.
The overall performance of the audiobook was good. I think both narrators did a fantastic job of capturing the character's personality. It definitely brought a different perspective and elevated the story more than simply reading it off my kindle. 3.5/5 stars

Sadly I couldn't finish this. I had no connection either lead, AND the hero was written to say things like "The Strand is to bookstores what urban outfitters is to clothing stores." and that his ex was perfect for marrying cause she liked to clean so much. UGH

Gracie is a quirky girl with a niche for romance writing, a skill that she honed in on in high school by writing explicit letters to her crush. Said crush, Colin, offends Gracie in high school by ridiculing her name, resulting in Gracie despising him.
Flash forward 20 years, Gracie is a struggling author working on her next book. In a drunken effort to spark an idea, she gets out her high school yearbook. Seeing Colin’s photo triggers her into writing a scathing email to him. He responds in a sweet manner, and they pick up where they left off.
This was a quick read, and I loved the authenticity of Gracie and Colin. They laid everything on the table. The alternating POVs added humor and fun insights.
There were things I’d like to see wrapped up a little more. The emphasis on the letters from high school made me think something bigger was going to happen with them (1. His friend puts it together and she's embarrassed. 2. She finds the stack of them in his house and swoons), but it fell kind of flat to me. I was expecting resolution after the fallout with his dad. I did love the law partner being a Colin fan!
In regards to the audiobook version, the narrators were great. There were awkward pauses between chapters that seemed like technical issues.
This book gave me New Girl vibes and made IBS great again. A quirky read if you need a good laugh and a sweet love story. Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC.

My thoughts:
- I listened to this one on Audio and I loved the narrators. Each one was great with the different tones for each character and portrayed emotions well. You could hear the pain, strain, happiness, drunkenness, sleepiness... They were brilliant.
- The audio did have just one teeny-tiny irritating aspect: because there were a lot of e-mails back and forth between our MC's our narrators were forced to read the heading that comes with each e-mail (you know to: bla-bla, from: bla-bla-bla, subject: blaaaaa). It was a bit annoying, even if our narrators did try their best to sound, anxious, drunk, angry, when they read it - depending on the mood our character was in.
- The story itself was great, I really enjoyed it. It was original, I'd never read anything like it. All the twists and turns were funny and intriguing. Although I did get to a point where I guessed one twist, no biggy though, it just got me curious how it would turn out.
Overall:
- It was a behind-closed-door romance, with lots of chemistry with our main characters and our book characters (you'll know what I mean when you read the book).
- Some side characters with LGBTQ representation.
- Dual POV
- With some plot twists that will make you laugh.
Romance: 3/5
Spice: 0/5 (It was behind closed doors)
Chemistry: 4/5

"When you're a writer you appreciate words."
So what do you do when you have writer's block? In The Book Proposal, by debut author KJ Micciche, Gracie takes the break up of her new boyfriend Connor's marriage and uses it as inspiration. But when the wrong person reads it her career could be over.
Narrators Nick Mondelli and Kelli Tager are believable in this closed door romcom with more emphasis on comedy.
For the audiobook having them text rather than hearing the email addresses repeated over and over would have been appreciated as well as less bathroom humor. Though the banter between them was fun.
I received a free copy of this audiobook from the Dreamscape Media via #netgalley for a fair and honest review. All opinions are my own.

I really liked the beginning and thought it was funny, but then it got a little too much with all the fart jokes. I'm totally fine with some potty humor, but it was literally in every chapter. I'm sorry, but the words "alfredo fart" does not belong in a romance book. It just felt like the author was trying way too hard for it to be a comedy.
I felt like I couldn't connect with the characters. Gracie and Colin were annoying. There was no witty banter between the two.
Gracie drunkenly emails her high school crush (Colin) when she gets home from drinking away the fact that her ex fiance (who cheated on her with their wedding planner) just had a new baby with said wedding planning. Colin is also newly single, divorced after 6 months of marriage. Gracie and Colin then converse over emails a few times until one day they decide to meet up and chat. Gracie and Colin's relationship felt lacking to me. They email about absolutely nothing, yet fall madly in love within ((days)). That is until it all falls apart.
Sadly, this just wasn't for me.
Thank you to Netgalley and Dreamscape Media for a free audio of The Book Proposal in exchange for my honest review.

This was a fun, light read with some crazy situations. It was a bit too over-the-top for me in some situations, and I agree with other reviews who commented on the fact that the main characters were supposed to be in their 30s, but seemed more like early 20s. Two key events in the story were kicked off by someone being inebriated to the point of incapacitation, which just doesn't seem realistic for someone in their 30s. But who knows? Maybe I'm out of touch...
But overall, the story was entertaining and easy to get into.
Thank you to KJ Micciche, Dreamscape Audio and NetGalley for an advance review copy.

When I read the synopsis of this book I immediately requested it on Netgalley. The overall execution was fun and light but was lacking for me in two categories that took this down from being a 4-star read.
First, the main character and her love interest are both meant to be in their 30's but they were written very young. While Gracie does make several for the better life changes at the very end of the book, there wasn't a lot of character growth shown on page. For example, she encountered a similar situation in the third act as she did at the beginning of the book and reacted in the exact same way. I wanted a little more growth for her though I am happy that she seems to come into her own at the end of the book.
Secondly, the romance was a little lacking for me. While the characters had history together, their romance in the present wasn't really on page. And by the third act conflict it wasn't feeling realistic for two people who have dated basically 10 days to push through and end up together at the end. There wasn't much chemistry between them and I think if we had had either more time with them together on page that could have been rectified.
Overall, this was a fun and light read and a good debut.
Thank you to Netgalley and Dreamscape Media for the audio arc of this book!

The Book Proposal by K.J. Micciche
This is a debut book by this author. I loved the humor in it I found myself laughing often. This is what I think makes the book shine is that the reader finds themselves laughing. The book starts off by Gracie drunk texting Colin a high school crush.
Recently dumped just before her wedding, Gracie's life is a bit of a mess and she's finding it hard to write about happily ever after's when she no longer believes they exist. With a huge book deal on the line though, she ends up getting help from her old enemy turned new texting buddy, Colin, who helps her come up with the plot for her new book drawing on his own love life disaster with his ex-wife.
The first book she writes with Colin does well and now a sequel is expected, and this is when it all falls apart because Gracie finds out who the person is that broke Colin's heart which he told her about for her first book. The reveal can make or break Gracie's writing career.
The humor sprinkled into this story is what I liked the most in the story other than that the romance was not steamy per se. The situation Gracie found herself in was a massive train wreck when everything comes out. I recommend this book to anyone who like humor in their romance there is plenty in this one.
Narrated by Nick Mondelli and Kelli Tager each brought Gracie and Colin to life as well as other characters they did great with hitting the marks on the humor. It is a solid four star read for me. It was a good attempt at a debut novel for Micciche. I cannot wait to see what comes out next by this author.
Thank you to Netgalley and Dreamscape Media for a free copy of The Book Proposal for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions in this review are my own.

I LOVED how this book started. The idea of her writing career starting from what could arguably be the most embarrassing thing to happen someone is a chef kiss. I found Gracie extremely relatable. I really enjoyed the dual perspective story telling on the audiobook. The development of the relationship between Gracie and Colin was enjoyable.
I highly recommend this book. I listened in one day. The characters, the realness, all of it was so good.

The Book Proposal by K.J. Micciche is a story about Gracie, a romance author about to get a huge deal for her books. Gracie began writing in high school as a secret admirer to her crush Connor. She slowly wrote more raunchy notes, then one day the football team got one of the notes and distributed it all over the school.
Jumping forward about 20 years both Conner and Gracie are adults working in their careers and dealing with relationships. One night, Gracie sends Connor a drunk email that begins an email exchange between the two. Those emails lead to them catching up in person and their relationship goes from there.
I like letter and email exchanges in books and I enjoyed Gracie and Connor reconnecting that way. I felt like things moved a little quickly and would have liked more relationship-building between them.
My least favorite thing was the description of bodily functions, and might just be a preference for me. Some of the humor seems a bit off as well, there were a lot of references to poop, farting, and burping. At times there were unnecessary descriptions that didn’t add to the story.
If you don’t mind bodily functions in your humor and are in the mood for a fast-paced easy romance, this book might be for you!
Thank you to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for the opportunity to listen to an advance copy of this audiobook. All opinions are my own.

Review
Gracie was a funny character and I thought she was realistic and relatable. Although I really wish we saw the couple together more, if that makes sense🤷🏻♀️ I feel like it was just a ton of emails between them and I needed more chemistry between them. With that being said I thought the story was good, Colin helping Gracie with her book slump, the explanation of his troubled relationship with his father and Gracie’s bad breakup. This book was cute and lighthearted fun to listen to. Thank you Netgalley and dreamscape media for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!

I received this audiobook in exchange for my honest review. I really wanted to love this book because it was refreshing to have a character with IBS like me. The Book Proposal by KJ Micciche is a rom-com about Gracie, a romance writer who drunkenly emails her high school crush Colin and starts a friendship that inspires her novel. The book is full of snort-laughs and the most endearingly bonkers situations. However, I had some issues with the narration style and some aspects of the plot that didn’t click with me. I think maybe if I had read it instead of listening to it, it would have been easier, but the mail exchange narration drove me insane. Was it necessary to add every single line of the email every time? I really wanted to root for them, but I couldn’t connect with them as much as I hoped. Overall, this was a fun and entertaining book, but not my favorite from this genre.

Cute read! The male narrator got on my nerves at the beginning but he found his flow towards the middle of the book.
I didn’t necessarily like the hints at spiciness in the book but I appreciated the couples’ relationship was more closed door.

This book had me laughing out loud at times. Some of the thoughts Gracie has are hilarious. The romance was cute but I felt that both characters, particularly Gracie, were written as immature and childish. I loved the idea of the second chance romance with a high school friend but it never felt like they actually got out of high school. Still, other parts were cute and I enjoyed the banter between Gracie and Colin. A quick, fun read.

I received an audiobook of The Book Proposal via NetGalley to listen and review.
Gracie is a writer who’s on the brink of a huge writing deal. If she can manage to complete a second deal she’s looking at a major payday. Only problem is she writes romance and she just called it off with her fiancé.
One night after a few too many drinks she sends an email to a guy she went to high school with. And they end up coming up with an idea for a new book.
I’ll stop the summary there. I was definitely laughing while listening to The Book Proposal. The narrators were fantastic but I really think Kelli did a great job bringing Gracie to life! The Book Proposal was a cute story with a ton of laughs!
