Very cute and easy read! This was a well-executed book about books and I enjoyed the main characters!

This book had a great premise, but unfortunately the execution wasn’t quite there for me. It’s a fun and light rom com, though.

Gracie Landing is a romance novelist with a broken heart, a broke bank account, and a terrible case of writer's block. After a wild night out with her girls, Gracie decides to email Colin Yarmouth, her unrequited high school crush. Colin is now a successful lawyer and is intrigued by the random email he received. Soon Colin and Gracie begin an email correspondence that turns into reconnecting and eventually dating. Colin has some regrettable choices that he shares with Gracie and gives her permission to use his unfortunate experiences for her next novel. As Gracie gets closer to finishing the novel her world is turned upside down at the realization that Colin's past overlaps with hers. The unexpected revelation turns their world upside down and Gracie and Colin have to fight for each other and their future. The Book Proposal is a comedic romance that will keep you laughing and cheering for the main characters from start to finish.

Gracie is a romance novel writer who accidentally emails her former high school crush, Collin, after a drunken night out. She was shocked to learn that he responded to her email. After they corresponded back for a while, they decided to go on a date. Collin proposed something to her that would help her solve her writer's block that she is currently struggling with. Things start to go well for both of them until the past, and their new world collides unexpectedly and hinders their newly created relationship.

This book was hilariously fun! I listened to the audiobook at work, and I had to make myself from laughing out loud for most of the book. The storyline was relatable, cute, and packed with witty dialogue. The story was laid out perfectly with the dual perspectives of both Gracie and Collin. Gracie was funny and relatable, and I got a kick off her reaction when her old high school crush corresponded to her email after her drunken night out. Her sense of humor and how she handled everything was authentic. I also loved getting into her mind while writing her next book. It gave a teaser of what writers go through to make a novel happen. Collin seemed like a perfect match for Gracie. Their chemistry was apparent from the start. I might be in the minority here, but I also loved the childish potty jokes. Sometimes a good shart joke is needed for some lighthearted humor. This book is not only an excellent lighthearted read but a hilariously entertaining one that will make you want to laugh out loud.

Thank you to NetGallery and to Dreamscape Audio for giving me a copy of the audiobook.

One night while trying to drink away the end of a relationship, Gracie Landing, sends and email to Colin Yarmouth, her high school crush. Learning she can be quite resourceful while under the influence Gracie wakes up and cannot understand why Colin is emailing her.

Gracie is a writer with a deadline. Having written one great book she needs to write another to get the book deal of her dreams. But nothing is working out. So when Colin starts writing to her, Gracie gets a spark and some possible new content.

Funny and witty this is an enjoyable book/audiobook. The story has laugh out loud moments and twists and turns that keep the reader engaged. The characters are enjoyable and interesting. Similarly, the narration by Nick Mondelli and Kelli Tager was great. I would easily recommend this book.

Many thanks to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for the opportunity to listen to and review this audiobook arc.

The Book Proposal was my kind of RomCom. The characters were so real—down to the uncomfortables and unspeakables—which made them so relatable and likable. The heroine was hilarious! I loved her! And, this book held some delightful surprises, which is hard to come by in the romance genre.

I listened to the audiobook, which was an enjoyable listen. I loved the narrator for the heroine, and I grew to love the narrator for the hero. I listened at 1.75x speed, which is my normal listening speed.

Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for this advanced audio copy.

It was ok and pretty cute. I requested because I loved the title. I loved the narrator and how it switched between female and male voices. It’s usually annoying when the guy pretends to be a girl and the girl pretends to be a guy. Loved the double POV!

What a fun and flirty debut from KJ Micciche! The Book Proposal follows romance author Gracie and her unrequited crush from high school, Colin, as they get a second chance to right the wrongs they had in high school. I mean, who hasn't drunk emailed someone from high school at least once?!?!?!

This book is fresh and honest, with surprising twists along the way. I loved how authentic both Gracie and Colin were. There was a perfect mix of funny and touching moments between the pair. I loved the mixed media, with the two emailing back and forth throughout. The dual perspectives worked well for me, especially on audio.

I was really enjoying the start of this novel and the emails between Grace and Colin but it quickly lost my interest which is a huge shame because I loved the premise. Unfortunately, I didn’t like either of the main characters and thought Colin was particularly terrible - he finds it funny when his friend harasses women and speaks about them in derogatory ways, he wants to humiliate his ex-wife publicly, and damages multiple careers with his own idiocy.
Outside of the emails, I didn’t find these characters had any chemistry with each other and their relationship moves strangely fast whilst nothing really seems to happen. They’re both very immature and make bad decisions they don’t learn from, they don’t even really seem to fight for each other when they screw up, and there’s a weird and unnecessary amount of burping, vomiting and pooping that was really off putting.

I never like to give a bad review of a book but I want to be honest and unfortunately, this really wasn’t the book for me.

Title: The Book Proposal
Author: KJ Micciche
Narrator: Kelli Tager, Nick Mondelli
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

✨Thoughts/Review:
The Book Proposal, the debut novel from author KJ Micciche, was hilarious, saucy, engaging, and incredible! I seriously didn’t want it to end and was super bummed to find out this is Micchiche’s first novel. I was left wanting to consume everything she’s ever written. Instead, I’ll get to experience the sheer excitement of awaiting another novel!
This novel had me literally laughing out loud, groaning with all too real female experiences, and blushing with the blunders Gracie frequently made. My inner Queen-of-Awkward felt so seen!
If you enjoy novels in the romance genre, you absolutely have to check this out! If you’re like me who generally tends to stick with one genre (I’m a diehard psychological thriller lover at heart) authors like this may help broaden your horizons. I would honestly give this one 10/5 stars!
I also have to say that the narrators for Gracie and Colin did an AH-MAZING job of bring both characters to life. It’s because of narrators like them that I continue to indulge in audiobooks day after day!

📚Synopsis:
After a night of over indulgence, Gracie sits at home flipping through the pages of her high school yearbook. She reflects back on her middle school and high school crush Colin and decides to look him up. Once she stumbles on his work website, she finds his email and shoots off a drunk message. What’s the worst that can happen? Her fiancée already left her for their wedding planner, got married, and had a child together, posting it all over Instagram. What does she have to lose?

✨Thank you NetGalley, Sourcebooks Casablanca, and KJ Micciche for the opportunity to listen to the audiobook ahead of its proposed May 16th, 2023 release in exchange for an honest review.

Nothing is really going well for Grace. Her fiancé cheated on her with the wedding planner, and got her pregnant. She, an author, has been struggling writing. She is broke. When her ex-fiancé's baby is born, she goes out with friends to drown her sorrows. When she gets back home, she sends a drunken email to her high school crush. Not a nice email either. (Well, not a terrible one- she calls him balding and chubby.)

Colin is recently divorced. He has taken over his father's law firm (estate planning). But his father is still controlling. He receives Grace's email and it taken aback. He responds to the email.

They continue back and forth. He offers to read Grace's current book, the one she feels is terrible. Colin really likes Grace- she is funny and cute. Grace can't believe what is happening- her teenage self would be ecstatic. But, of course, things can't stay perfect. People and issues from their past interfere.

This is a light, cute read. Perfect? No. And Grace can lead towards crass at times. But it was funny at times and I overall enjoyed it. KJ Micciche is a debut author and I am will gladly pick up her next book. Just hopefully less speak of digestive issues correlating with food. Lol.

This books is told in dual POV, but I felt Colin's POV was definitely weaker.

The audiobook is narrated by Nick Mondelli and Kelli Tager. They both did a good job. Since neither is well known to me, I was pleased that neither made me want to quit.

I received an audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

I love audio books and rom com is one of my favorite genres. This debut novel by KJ Micciche was difficult to review. I really wanted to love it but I didn’t. I did not need the bodily function comments at all. I am not sure what their purpose was supposed to convey but it was unnecessary in the book. I enjoyed the emails as story development as that is popular now. The 30 year old immature characters grew on me the last 35% of the book but I don’t know that I would read another with the set of chapters in the book. Thank you Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for the opportunity to review this book in audio form.

Thanks NetGalley for the early release of this book. My personal opinion is this book is just okay. I didn’t care for the characters or the way the book was set up. The epilogue was set up so weird I forgot it was the never ending… ending. I mean the ending was great and I was fully anticipating it to end well. I had a really hard time enjoying the book because I just didn’t think it was funny or humorous as much as the characters thought each other was funny. I found them both highly immature and I’m not sure if they were supposed to be mature adults but “blacking out drunk” multiple times in a book seemed a bit excessive and ridiculous.

Such a cute rom-com that had me laughing out loud at points! I've read some reviews that complained about the maturity level of this one, but for me it was the perfect escapist read that I needed. I loved the incorporation of the publishing industry. I loved the way the relationship progressed. I loved that both characters were flawed and owned their flaws. This will make a perfect summer read, and it was great on audio!

"The Book Proposal" is a light and easy read that tells the story of Gracie Landing, a struggling romance writer who finds inspiration in the most unexpected of places. While the premise of the story is interesting, the execution leaves something to be desired. The characters are likable but lack depth, and the plot feels a bit contrived at times. However, the witty dialogue and charming romance keep the story moving at a good pace. Overall, "The Book Proposal" is a decent read for fans of the genre who are looking for a quick and entertaining escape, but it may not leave a lasting impression. 3 out of 5 stars.

Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the audiobook ARC! The Book Proposal is a second chance romance from K.J Micciche. Writer Gracie suffers from a bad break up and after a night out with friends, she sends a drunken message to her high school crush, Colin. Colin is also suffering from a bad break up and Gracie seems like the perfect distraction. Once the two become tentative friends, Colin suggests that Gracie uses his wild relationship and breakup story for her book. The two continue to bond as Gracie continues to write, but when the real life inspired fiction has negative ramifications for Gracie and her writing carreer, will Colin and Gracie be able to weather the storm? This is a cute bookish romance told in dual perspectives with audiobook narration by Kelli Tager and Nick Mondelli whose narrations help bring the characters and story to life.

Let me start by saying I really wanted to like this book. The blurb sounded cute and I love books about writers, especially someone writing a romance novel.

But it just wasn't that great...

I’m verbally I liked the characters and the story was a fun romantic comedy.

Yeah Grace started off kind of eye rolling with shafting on the street but she grew on me and her interactions with her friends and adorable mrs a.

One thing that made me just groan was her complaining about setting up her new phone. Acting like she was a boomer and my boomer dad handled his first touch screen better than this millennial.

I also don’t get the having to communicate with each other in email when they had each others number to text. The email interactions were really annoying in the audiobook since had to hear the email addresses about a thousand times.

Thank you to NetGalley, KJ Micciche and Sourcebooks Casablanca for the audio ARC in exchange for my honest review.
