I enjoyed this romance. I did find it hard to get into but once I get a little bit into the book I could not put it down.

Unfortunately this was a dnf for me. I tried to relate to the characters but I found myself struggling to see their chemistry. I really wanted to love this book but it seemed to not be for me.

„Sister of the Bride” - Lauren Morrill
Pippin’s life is facing a lot of changes all at once. First, she finds out about her sister’s unexpected wedding. Then, her mom announces plans to sell the building where their family has run a restaurant for over a hundred years. This means not only having to change her job but also her place of residence—quite a lot to handle for someone who doesn’t like change. Luckily, after eight years, her best friend returns to town and offers to help plan the wedding.
I’ve never been the biggest fan of the friends to lovers trope. Mostly because I find it hard to understand why the characters never question their relationship or consider becoming more than friends after all that time. However, in this case, it feels realistic, given that they haven’t lived in the same city for years.
My time with this book turned out to be truly enjoyable. I had even more fun than I expected.
Thank you to netgalley for this book in exchange for my honest opinion!

W życiu Pippin zachodzi wiele zmian naraz.

A beautifully written romance that captures the magic of falling in love. The main characters have great chemistry, and their witty banter keeps the story light and fun. The plot is engaging, with just the right mix of drama and humor. This book is a warm hug for the heart—perfect for a cozy afternoon read!

Pippin's life has been turned upside down, and she's struggling to cope with everything. Her sister, Polly, has returned from Europe, now engaged. Meanwhile, their mother has decided to sell the restaurant that belonged to their father—a place Pippin had been managing and that had become her whole world since his passing.
The only constant she can rely on now is Toby, her best friend who has reappeared in her life after eight years, armed with plenty of dad jokes. As Polly and Pippin's friends start planting ideas in her head, she begins to wonder: Are she and Toby just friends, or could there be something more between them?
The story was a light read. While the title was fitting, it didn't feel entirely appropriate, as Polly's engagement isn't revealed until about 20% into the book, even though the reader is aware of it from the start. The relationship between Pippin and Toby developed slowly, but when it finally did, the ending felt rushed. However, I enjoyed the epilogue and how it tied everything together.

I am always on the lookout for a 3rd act breakup but was pleasantly surprised when there wasn't one here! However, I don't love slow burns and slow to start plots so I didn't love this one

3 / 3.25 ⭐️
I actually really did enjoy this book once we got into the actual meat and potatoes of the plot & MCs. I absolutely loved Toby. I think from the moment he was written on the page you knew he was in love with Pippin. You could feel it, and once their actual attraction was out in the open 🥵 The spice was well done, i loved their pining for each other. It was all good. I really enjoyed them coming together.
I also really enjoyed the relationships Pippin had with her sister, Polly, and her family. Plus, i love a romance with no third act breakup.
Pippin was so so so relatable. I think i adored her the most. She just felt like someone you wanted to have coffee with cuz you got her and she got you.
My issues with this book was there was A LOT of fluff before you really got into the meat of Toby and Pippin that was directly about Polly and her fiancé, Mackenzie. I really loved them both and love a Gay wedding but i almost thought at some points i wished the book started with when they met and made it a series - book 1 being Polly and Mackenzie and book 2 being Toby and Pippin. All in all i did really enjoy their story but it took a while to get into it.
I also felt the title of the book doesn’t really fit? I think the wedding was supposed to be a shock factor as it was a huge shock to everyone written on the page but the reader knows going in it will happen due to the title.
Finally, I felt really uncomfortable with the accept shaming. It just really isn’t necessary to a plot or any point to doing it at all. I would have rating this book 4/4.5 without that. If something makes me uncomfortable it’s just a no for me.
Overall, i did enjoy the book & the characters and would recommend it but would urge the author to just remove the accent shaming because what’s the point of it?

I feel like I wanted more from this book. It was supposed to be a retelling of "Father of the Bride," but I didn't really get that vibe. The premise was good, but I think the story could have been more developed.

This book was freaking delightful. I really treated myself to an epic time by watching "Father of the Bride" right before diving into this, and it made the reading experience *chef's kiss!*
Pippin's voice was easy to follow and the friends-to-lovers dynamic between her and Toby was a slow build but OH SO rewarding. I also thoroughly enjoyed the "Red Sauce America" restaurant in the family, the wedding details with Pippin's sister, and overall city setting of the novel.
Highly recommend for anyone who's looking for a great spin on a classic, with more of a 90s romcom feel and focus!

This was a good adult contemporary romance novel!
I received an e-ARC of the book from the publisher.

a summer-y read about family, friendship and life's big changes. this was pretty light and fun with just enough weight to feel substantial. i liked the characters and the boston setting was really enjoyable. however, the spicy scenes were surprisingly spicy and didn't fit the tone of the rest of the book.

This was a pretty cute friends to lovers romance, but the pacing felt a bit off to me, and I don't think it did the book any favours. And to be honest, I felt more interested/invested in the sub-plot with Piippin needing to find a new job than the romance.

This book was so cute and fun and perfect. I absolutely loved the characters, I wish this would become a spinoff with each characters story! I want to read 100 more books about them!

I really enjoyed Sister of the Bride. Pippin and Toby are great together and I was cheering for them the entire story.

Lauren Morrill must know the way to my heart is in a plate of lasagna.
Pippin has just been thrown a 360*. She's got to plan her twin sister's wedding on a whim. Not only that, but figure out how to convince her mom NOT to sell the family restaurant. The only bright spot is Toby- back in town after being away for what seemed like ever. Or what she thinks is a bright spot until he kisses her. All's fair in love and pasta...especially when you're the sister of the bride.
Sister of the Bride was my first by Lauren Morrill but definitely won't be my last. She wrote characters that I immediately wanted to have some words with. While this was a slow burn, I wasn't annoyed with it as Morrill brought in the tension.

Thank you Yellow House Media and NetGalley for the chance to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
What an adorable slow to start but engaging and perfect romance for a quiet evening read. It took a moment to get into the read as some of the details didn't quite connect, however, once the connections between Pippin and Toby started and progressed, I was unable to put it down.
Toby is as steamy and romantic as any good romance lead shood be. Pippin is such a lovable and strong main character and her journey is worth rooting and supporting as the story unfolds. It was romance everyone wishes for...there was no break-ups and wishes for more!
Highly recommend.

THIS COVER! I'm in love with everything about it. The color scheme, their faces, guh. It makes me squeal it's literally SO adorable.
And the book was solid as well! I am not really a slowburn or a friends to lovers gal but Pippin and Toby were so adorable together. This book definitely gave me Father of the Bride vibes and it was such a light and easy read. I definitely recommend picking this up if you're looking for something with no third act break-up and barely any drama. And if you think that there is no spice based on the cutesy cover, folks, THINK AGAIN. Toby is a cinnamon roll boyfriend with a dirty mouth and I was here for every single second of him.

I loved everything about this book: I loved how smoothly the book was written, and how the characters and their actions grew and changed as they learned and unlearned. It’s a masterclass in immersive storytelling.

Since reading this book I find that I think of it often. It was an enjoyable read, and one that kept me entertained from start to finish. There were a great mix of characters and personalities that consequently made the story flow well. Sister of the Bride is a contemporary, fresh spin on the Father of the Bride story and this take was accomplished well. It was one that had me feeling a bevy of emotions, and at times became a tad too relatable. I really loved it. Based on the fact I think of this book often, it's a five star read and one that I will definitely revisit. I'm looking forward to more fun stories from Lauren Morrill.
