I don't think comparing this book to Father of the Bride is a fair assessment. I found Pip to be insufferable. She was determined to make her sister rethink her choices and was too judgmental for me, I did not finish this book.
I received an advance copy. All thoughts are my own.

This was a very fun read! Pippin was easy to connect with, likeable and relatable, and juggling far too much. Her family was so entertaining, too! I loved how supportive Toby was of her, although I thought his character fell kind of flat. He didn't have much depth and I would've loved to learn more about him. Plus, the book was a SLOWWWW burn. A little too slow for me, as it began to get boring. Toby and Pippin's relationship really wasn't explored until much later in the book and yet, the build up still felt rushed. However, the book was a funny, lighthearted, cute, and easy read with low angst.
Things I Loved:
- Friends to lovers
- Family drama
- Secret pining
- Slow burn (although maybe too slow?)
Thanks to NetGalley and Lauren Morrill for the ARC!

"Sister of the Bride" by Lauren Morrill is a heartwarming and relatable story about family, love, and self-discovery. Morrill intricately explores the dynamics between sisters, capturing the essence of their bond amidst the chaos of planning a wedding. The book beautifully portrays the protagonist's journey as she navigates her role as the sister of the bride while also discovering her own desires and aspirations. With humor, warmth, and authentic emotions, Morrill crafts a narrative that resonates with readers, evoking both laughter and introspection. "Sister of the Bride" is a delightful and touching read that celebrates the complexities of family relationships and the joys of finding one's place in the world.

I will always always always pick up one of Lauren’s books. Maybe I’m biased since I know her but her books have such a happy feel to them that’ll make anyone smile. I had never seen Father of the Bride but after reading this I think I have to watch it asap

I first knew of Ms. Morrill because of Poptart the pup! And then I discovered she is a writer and what a writer she is. I loved this book. I laughed; I cried. Sister of the Bride is so well written with characters that crawl off the page and sit beside you. I start to laugh and Toby says "Oh yes, that is funny; just wait-- it gets better." A lump forms in my throat and Pippen nods "Yeah, that pretty much will tear your heart out." And then there is Boston and Italian food and new love and rediscovered love and family and change and insight and honesty. Honestly, if you. haven't read this one yet, put it on your TBR list. Sister of the Bride does not disappoint. Thank you, Ms. Morrill. I look forward to more writing from you.

This is a friends to lovers and I am their biggest anti, not because I don’t enjoy them. I do. But is so easy to make them feel as they settle down with each other rather than they were friends who realized that they love each other, so every time I read a friends to lovers I critique them hard. But this story was so good that if all the friends to lovers were like this. They would be my faves.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an advanced copy of Sister of the Bride by Lauren Morrill.

I really enjoyed this book. It's a slow burn but worth the wait. I am a sucker for friends to lovers and this one delivered in a big way. The epilogue had me grinning. Toby is super swoony and absolute book boyfriend material. My heart went out to Pippin and I just wanted great things for her. I would have loved to see more of the wedding planning and her sister and fiancee. I'm looking forward to reading future titles by this author.

I have mixed feelings about this book.
On the one hand, I really liked the story between the main characters, I think they are very sweet and I love the interactions between them.
However, what I didn't end up liking is that it is VERY obvious that they are in love with each other, and it made me very nervous that they wouldn't realize it.
But overall, it's a good book. Give it a chance.

Thank you for my arc copy of this book.
Unfortunately this book just wasn't for me, not enough happened to keep me fully engaged.
That being said I could totally see this being a great book for someone else to fly through as an easy enjoyable read.

This is a good book. The two main characters are Pippin and Toby. They have known each other all their lives. Pippin runs a family restaurant. Toby has come back home to start a residency program. They are best friends. They start noticing each other. Toby starts to help Pippin with her sister’s wedding plans. They start dating. They fall in love.

This started off slow but I liked it eventually (maybe because of my love for lasagna)
The MCs were cute.

This book was torture. Nothing happens for the first quarter of the book! At that point I was checked out and just really could not get into it.

Lauren Morrill's romcom twist on "Father of the Bride" had me hooked from the start. Pippin Marino's journey through change, love, and the comforting aroma of lasagna is a delightful adult debut that resonates with anyone grappling with life's unexpected twists. As Pippin navigates her twin sister's wedding chaos and her mother's decision to sell the family restaurant, the return of her best friend, Toby Sullivan, becomes a beacon of familiarity in the storm. The story takes a turn when a single kiss throws Pippin's carefully crafted routine into disarray, and I found myself engrossed in the humorous yet poignant exploration of her resistance to change. Morrill's narrative is not just heartwarming; it's a delectable blend of romance and comfort food that makes for a truly satisfying read. If you're in the mood for a story that feels like a warm hug with a side of laughter, Morrill's novel is a must.

Thank you to Yellow House Media and Netgalley for allowing me to read this book.
Sister of the Bride is a lovely book. I loved the writing of the book. However, the mentioning of the main character's dead dad was a turn off for me. My father recently passed away. I do want to pick this book up again in the future when I am able to read about the subject.

If you’re looking for a fun and humorous friends-to-lovers rom com that will also have you drooling from the yummy Italian food then you definitely need to read this one! I loved the Italian family and the setting of this book. And the I loved the friendship between the two MCs. And Toby’s dad jokes!! I loved them! Will definitely be recommending this one.

This was a cute, fun read. I liked this story and found it to be a quick read for me because it was enjoyable.

this was such a cute friend to lover’s rom com about accepting change and finding yourself without the burden of fighting to save the family restaurant in your dad’s memory. Also finally realizing that maybe your string of bad relationships is not because you can’t commit but that you already had someone who fulfilled all your relationship needs except the sex in your best friend and there wasn’t room for anyone else in your heart when he was already in there. This was a fun and fast read.
Thanks to Yellow House Media and Netgalley for the complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Thank you Netgalley, Yellow House Media & the author for providing ARCs to the Joyful Chaos Book Club.
I keep going back and forth about how I feel about this one. On one hand, I managed to read it in one 2-ish hour sitting, and there were definitely parts I enjoyed. I loved the family element, and Toby is truly a man written by a woman. The spicy scenes were an excellent slow burn payoff. However, I found Pippin to be annoying (which was unfortunate because the story was from her POV), and I didn’t realize Toby was the main love interest until about 30% in when the sister drops hints about how attractive he is. I honestly thought he was going to be a side character best friend, so it took me some time to mentally catch up in that area as the writing didn’t immediately take me there. I could empathize with Pippin in struggling with all the changes in her life, but she acted immature to her family and Toby while finding her feelings. I believe this book could have been better marketed as New Adult, and I would have had a better reading reaction to it.
If you like best-friends-to-lovers, slow burn, new adult romance, this would be a good book for you.

I wanted to like this one so badly because I did genuinely enjoyed the characters, Pippen's family, and Toby. However, the first half of this book was ROUGH for me. It was just a meh, for me. Kinda seemed all over the place and I wanted less wedding and more focus on the relationships between the characters. Still give it 3 stars.
