First let me thank Netgalley for giving me the opportunity to read such a awesome book for my honest review.

just let me say how sad I am that I am done reading this phenomenoial book. I refuse to believe this is the authors first book.

This book gives the thrill of those I didn't see that one coming moments! From chapter to chapter, there are cliffhangers that keep you wanting more.

The characters are all lovable in their own right, even the villains sort of speak.

This books has it all romance, sex (but not overly sexual), loss, and true friendship.

At the end, I could only hope there are some backstories or a book 2, to answer some questions.

If I could I would give this book 10 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I requested this book because an author, Freida McFadden, I follow highly recommended it! I am so glad that I did. This was a wonderful debut novel by Mark Jenkins. The characters were interesting, there were secrets, and there were twists! I highly recommend this novel. Nina is a best selling author of thrillers, she is following in the footsteps of her mother who also writes best selling thrillers! Nina's marriage is on the rocks but she can't pinpoint why exactly to begin fixing it. She hasn't written in a while, being the mother of two children doesn't give her much extra time to write, and she thinks that not writing could be what is affecting her marriage. Her agent, Margo, has been remaindering her that her deadline is coming up quickly and she needs to make sure she has a best selling book by then. Margo dropped all of her other clients to focus exclusively on Nina and her mother, but now she's beginning to get a little nervous that Nina hasn't finished her book yet. All of a sudden, her former clients begin to die by accident, but is it really an accident? How are all of these authors really dying? Nina begins to think that her best friend, Kelly, is hiding something from her. Will Nina figure out her best friends secrets? Will she be able to save her marriage? Or will she be the next author to die?

3.5 stars rounded up

With one stone is Mark Jenkins debut novel. It started with a massive bang but unfortunately after the prologue fell a bit flat for me until the last few chapters where all of the action and twists occurred. It was an easy read which was enjoyable and well written.

WOW was that ever a wild ride!! A really cool psychological thriller, so unexpected!!! It was chock a block full of suspense giving me a sick feeling in my stomach for a good chunk of the book and had soooo many twists and turns and the secrets???? So many! Also, I couldn’t figure out who the killer was which kept me guessing the whole time. I am really surprised and so impressed this was a debut novel, where has he been all this time??? I can’t wait to read more from this author!! Thank-you to NetGalley for the ARC, I feel really lucky having been chosen.

With One Stone is a debut novel by Mark Jenkins. The focus of the book revolves around Nina Traverse, a best selling author trying to get some motivation to write her next novel, Nina is trying to get her groove back. She has made a name for herself as a top selling author but she hasn't been able to come up with her next book despite a looming deadline from her brash publisher.

Amidst all of this, the current best selling authors are mysteriously turning up dead.

Main characters include: Nina, Nina's husband Jack, their children Addy & Noah, their best friends Kelly & Owen, her mom Willa (also a best selling author), her agent and her new nanny Robin....and let's throw in the unknown killers POV and a random crazy writers thoughts as well.

There is SO much going on in this novel. So many storylines inside the main storyline and it's a puzzle trying to put together who is associated with who and how. There are a ton of red herrings and it was easy to come up with a possible theory in one chapter and then change my mind the next.

A couple times I was shocked at revelations (one time I even out loud said WTF [ in an expanded format lol] and my husband was like "what? what's wrong?" bahahahaha) and surprisingly, one of my theories of how it was playing out was pretty darn close.

Thank you to NetGalley and the author for the electronic advanced reader copy to read and review. An amazing debut novel, fast paced and attention grabbing. Four solid stars!

With One Stone, a psychological thriller by Mark Jenkins is intense. The book follows Nina Travers, a bestselling author of psychological thrillers who has fallen from grace due to a series of tragedies in her life. As her competitors take over her former spot on the charts, Nina's family and friends become desperate to get her back to where she belongs. Desperate enough to lie, keep horrific secrets, and even kill.

The plot of the book kept me on the edge of my seat, and I loved how the characters' lives were weaved together. There were so many twists and turns that I didn't see coming, and I couldn't wait to turn the page to find out what would happen next. The suspense was remarkable, and even the most basic events felt tense and gripping.

I enjoyed the chapters that left me fascinated whose perspective we were seeing. The author did an exquisite job of keeping the reader guessing until the very end. I thought I had it all figured out, but I was proven wrong.

Overall, With One Stone was a fantastic debut novel, and I highly recommend it to fans of psychological thrillers. The writing was remarkable, especially for a first-time author, and I am eager to see what Mark Jenkins writes next.

Thank you to NetGalley for the advance reader's copy!

I received this book through NetGalley as a new author/first book. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. There were lots of twists and turns throughout the book. Each chapter was packed full of action and kept me intrigued. The storyline was unique and it was very well written. I could see a sequel come from this storyline. I’m very excited to read more from this author.

First of all, as a fan of Freida McFadden I'm living in hope and waiting for some of the next generation of thriller writers to draw inspiration from her style.

With One Stone is Mark Jenkins' debut, I know Freida has been supportive of his writing so I was hopeful this might be the first of a new wave in thrillers.

Nina Travers is a number one bestselling author, so is her mother Willa. They both share the same agent 'Midas of the literary world' Margo Flagg, one of my favourite characters, with a mean streak of 'angry Jewish woman'.

When authors with connections to Margo start dying there's more than the next bestseller at stake.

Mark Jenkins sets up some great characters, there's quite a few plot strands and elements, but he does a good job of moving it along at pace, personality and humour. There are some very nice touches. A criticism would be that there's a lot going, with a lot of characters and parallel plots, it makes it harder for the main plot to build momentum.

At various points I was getting vibes of Freida McFadden, Kiersten Modglin, Peter Swanson and Gillian Flynn, a fine selection for a debut novel to remind me of.

There are some big unexpected twists, and some quite early on, which
I like.

There's a big buzz around this book, I've already seen reviewers calling this 'a book of the year', while it doesn't match up to that for me, it's a fast, fun, twisty and accomplished debut.

Thanks to Netgalley and Mark Jenkins

This was not the book for me, I couldn't connect to the writing or characters. I finished this but I wasn't overly interested in the outcome; I do think a lot of people will enjoy this but it wasn't for me.

Wow!! This book is amazing. Haven't been able to put it down. Find myself sneaking in chapters when I'm supposed to be doing something else. lol All that to say, what a ride! So different. Won't repeat the synopsis, but the characters are well thought out and you are always wondering what is happening. I like that there is a small amount of violence, but not the main part of the story. The mystery is the main part of the story and guessing what will happen next. Don't wait, download or buy this book now!

What a fabulous read. I heard about this book from Freida McFadden while waiting for her next release and was not disappointed. The twists and turns were unexpected and the ending was perfect. If you enjoy Freida McFadden thrillers you will enjoy this book.

The characters were well developed and I found myself staying up well into the wee hours of the morning two nights in a row and only put it down because I couldn't keep my eye's open to stay awake and finish in one sitting. Too bad other obligations got in the way of my reading. The relationships between the chatacters and the vivid descriptions drew you right into story and I didn't want to stop reading. I loved the lavish book release party and the over-the-top lifestyles of the best-selling author characters in the book.

No spoilers, suffice it to say I highly recommend WITH ONE STONE by Mark Jenkins.

I went into WITH ONE STONE with high expectations, having heard great things about the twisty plot and great character development. Unfortunately, this book wasn’t for me - I struggled with the clunky writing and plethora of typos, and more than halfway through the book, I realized I simply had no interest in the story or outcome.

Mark Jenkins has hit it out of the park with his debut psychological thriller, With One Stone. Nina Travers, a popular author who has hit a rough patch and has lots going on in the world around her. Struggling to keep her “best seller” status and manage her family life, things seem to spiral out of control. Mysterious deaths, knocking out the other best sellers in her genre, build up to the ultimate question, whodunit? I thoroughly enjoyed the chapters that left me wondering whose perspective we were seeing. The character development was carefully executed. After several twists and turns, I thought I had it all figured out, but boy was I wrong! I hope Mark has more up his sleeve - he has made my favorite author list! A MUST read for fans of Freida McFadden and the like.

Nina Travers is a top selling author of 5 books, but lately she has been experiencing writers block for her 6th book and is going through a bit of a rough time in her life with a troubling marriage, balancing and raising two young children and then finding the time to write. Suddenly other top selling authors that she knows of start dying, including someone very near and dear to her heart. The Question is , is Nina the one who is knocking them off one by one?

I enjoyed the first half on this book but felt that it was a bit slow to start and took me a little longer to get into than usual. I personally feel that there was a lot of unnecessary chapters that made the book drag on and much longer than it needed to be. It was also hard to follow at times as it jumped between the characters POVs.
I did however enjoy the style of writing and the ending of the book was fantastic. It could not have ended any better. I was not expecting that at all and I really love when the name of the book suddenly makes so much more sense. Mark tied that coming together very well in the end.

Overall, this was a good read with exactly what you are expecting - plot twists and times where you are left wondering “what the heck is going on!!?”

Thank you Netgalley and Mark Jenkins for giving me the opportunity to read this E arc. And thank you to Frieda McFadden for recommending this book. I would happily read another by this author.

I really liked the ending on this one - it tied all the sinister threads together. I believe there is a little bit of a nod to a classic book that I really enjoyed. Another thing that I found interesting was the sort of mixed-media approach taken where we get newspaper article clippings, invitations, and diary entries interspersed with the novel.

Something felt a little off to me in the tone used for the narrator. It felt inconsistent but maybe that was on purpose and I'd have to go back and reread to understand.

Thank you to Netgalley, the author and publisher for an advance copy!

📚 Book Review 📚 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

With One Stone by Mark Jenkins

Nina was once a highly coveted, best selling author but she is stuck in a rut meanwhile others are passing her by and stealing her audience. How far is someone willing to go for happiness….murder, perhaps?
