This was a great popcorn thriller from one of the very best in the genre, Kiersten Modglin. "Don't Go Down There" was a very thrilling and fast paced domestic thriller. I thought I had this completely figured out, but Modglin did a fantastic job of throwing a crazy twist in the end that had my jaw dropped.
The audiobook narrators all did a fantastic job of breathing life into this story. I was fully immersed from the beginning.
Thank you to Dreamscape Media and Kiersten Modglin for the audio advanced copy of this title. All opinions are my own.

Thank you so much to net galley and the publisher for sending me a copy of this audiobook! I have been a fan of Kiersten Modglin for quite some time but I think this is my least favorite.

This isn't my first ride on the Kiersten Modglin crazy train. I expected the plot to be over the top and it didn't disappoint. The pacing felt a bit uneven and the overall story felt like one she’s done before.

Don't Go Down There was another great read by Kiersten Modglin. Spencer Edwards has a beautiful wife, two perfect children, and a secret that just happens to be locked in his basement. Andi Edwards discovers her husband isnt where hes supposed to be and itsnt answering her calls or texts. She starts to wonder what has happened, but she finds out that the truth is worse than anything she could have imagined. She has to quickly decide if she will stand by her husband or walk alway and let him pay for his sins. I enjoyed reading this book and cant wait to read more by the author.

This audiobook had me hooked from the beginning. I couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next and couldn't stop listening. This is one that I would recommend.

Quick read about a husband who injures and locks a woman in the basement to prevent her from going to the police. When his wife returns home unexpectedly, he is forced to confess to her. But once alone with the woman, she realises that his confession is not true. The actual situation is so much worse. Keeps you entertained.

I've recently listened to several of Kiersten Modglin's books. Two of those books (Don't Go Down There and Wait for Dark) have a lot in common. Both are fairly short books that can easily be listened to in one afternoon. They each feature a husband and wife duo that find themselves in a sticky situation and are loaded with twists as they navigate these situations. And both are enjoyable reads that pull you in from the very beginning.
Although these two have a general theme in common, I recommend reading both - the twists and how the spouses cope in these situations definitely set the two books apart and kept me on the edge of my seat.
Don't Go Down There - ⭐⭐⭐💫 (3.5)
Thank you to @netgalley and @dreamscape_media for the gifted copy of these books.

A perfect husband or a perfect liar?
One ordinary day turns into an ordinary nightmare. The person who pledged to protect her till death do them part does Andi unimaginative harm. Despite her feelings, she must follow the law or the wedding vow.
The queen of mystery wrote a new incredible psychological novel. Her dubious way to end the novels keeps surprising me every single time. The novel's phenomenal writing, catching plot, and adventitious finale make this book a perfect read for any mystery lovers.
Thank you, NetGalley, for a free copy of the novel.

This book had the promise of being really good but the subject matter was too much for me. It was just an off putting book. Well written but a no for me.

I love a Kiersten Modglin book!! This was a pretty good one, but not one of my favorites. Definitely had a pretty good twist at the end though! Very quick read too!! Audiobook was done really nice with the different narrators.
*Thank you @dreamscape_media for the #gifted audiobook in exchange for an honest review.*

First, this book requires a degree of suspension of disbelief. If you don't go along with the initial premise, you're going to have a bad time. Thankfully I was looking to be entertained and was willing to go along for the ride.
The fun of this book comes from asking the question… what would you do in this woman's shoes? I enjoyed mulling over the situation, even though it was a touch ridiculous.
I felt the story was well plotted in a small novella package. I enjoyed getting pulled along on this narrative and would recommend it to readers looking for a fun time.
Disclaimer I received a copy of this book from the publisher.

Don’t Go Down There by Kiersten Modglin is such a fast pace popcorn 🍿 thriller that kept me listening long into the night. The narration was engaging and also left me guessing who is telling the truth here! I LOVE an unreliable cast. Who to trust?! I don’t know?! Keep listening to find out. In try KMod style this book is fast & furious with its twist and turns. What a ride!! It’s the perfect summer beach read!!!
A huge thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ALC in exchange for my honest review. 4 stars! Another book I’ve read that would make for another great LMN movie. A Saturday spent watching the LMN is a big guilty pleasure of mine and this would be the perfect story to watch!!

Andi has been trying to reach her husband Spencer for a while and after several unanswered calls and a trace of his phone, she discovers that he is at home instead of where he should be. Becoming concerned, with different scenarios running thru her mind, she rushes home to make sure that he is okay. But what she discovers in the basement of their home is more than she could have ever ever imagined. Now Andi must decide if she should stand by the love of her life and father of her children or do what she knows she should. This took off right away and there was never a dull moment. I felt so involved and felt myself wanting to shake Andi for her decision making. There were so many twists that I didn't see coming and I did not come close to guessing the final reveal. The narrators all did an amazing job as well. This was short and fast-paced and I loved it, 4.5 stars rounded up. Thank you to Net Galley and Kiersten Modglin for allowing me to listen to an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This was a very strange short story. Andi arrives home after her husband hasn't been answering her calls, to find a woman locked in her basement. Her husband tells her that it's a mistake, that he didn't mean any of this, and then Andi, being the perfect wife I guess, works with her husband to determine what to do with this woman, do they kill her, do they let her go, what are they going to do? Oh, also, let's get the kids out of here before they witness anything.
The next four hours of the audiobook are just strange as Spencer keeps trying to justify his reasons for why they need to kill her and make a plan. The ending twist was just a disappointment. I didn't like the characters, the plot was barely thought out, and I just didn't enjoy it. I've listen to a few Modglin books, and this one just didn't cut it.

Don’t Go Down There, by Kiersten Modglin, is a short, fast-paced, domestic thriller about a woman who finds out her husband has been cheating and has his lover chained up in the basement!
We jump right into the action on page one and it never slows. While I questioned the character’s choices and reactions, there was a forced time constraint that pushed for quick, if poor, decisions. There is constant tension and an impending sense of doom. There is also an “ick” factor to the plot; one element that is disturbing and unsettling, beyond the actual premise. Nevertheless, this is a twisty, wild ride of a read with a shocking conclusion. If you’re willing to suspend belief and are looking for a quick, eyebrow-raising, shocking, but entertaining thriller, this one is the book for you.
The audio-version of this story is narrated by Natalie Naudus, Scott Brick and Jesse Vilinsky and they were top notch! I thought they did a stellar job of creating voices that truly encapsulated the characters. The audio-version made the story much more realistic, engaging and enthralling for me. Thank you to Dreamscape Audio for the audio-version of this book.

This book felt a slowburner at first, the initial chapters were somewhat dull and the main characters not at all likeable but then the story speeds up and has you saying "oh my god" multiple times. The characters are not likeable but still very well built, with their past, and the author is great at revealing their psychological background.
Lovely narrator!

From GR: "Spencer Edwards has a beautiful wife, two perfect children, and a sinister secret locked in his basement…
When Andi Edwards discovers her husband isn’t where he’s supposed to be and isn’t answering her calls or texts, a flurry of scenarios races through her mind.
Is he hurt?
Is he cheating?
Is he dead?
The truth, she soon finds out, is so much worse than she could’ve imagined.
As she struggles to make sense of her new and chilling reality, she must decide whether to stand by the man she loves and help protect him or walk away and let him pay for his sins.
With time running out, the secret in the basement becomes more dangerous, and the spine-chilling truth becomes clear: if she makes the wrong decision, she stands to lose much more than her marriage."
My thoughts: Umm...where to begin? This is a tough one to review for me. First off, I didn't love the narrators, particularly the gentleman who voiced Spencer. That made it hard to listen to. The girl who voiced Andi was tolerable. I loved the concept and the mystery when I requested the book. What I got was a WHOLE different ballgame that I really did not enjoy. And the ending...without giving any spoilers was ick and kind of ridiculous. I had such high hopes because I've heard amazing things about this author. Unfortunately, it makes me hesitant to try any of her others. I was very thankful it was a short audio...
**Predictive text: I didn't want to tell anyone, but I was hiding ______ in my basement.**

I usually really like Modglin’s books but this one fell short for me. There wasn’t really a plot twist or exciting revelation to really keep my attention. I will continue to read her new novels. I received a free copy of this book from netgalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review.

o0o0 another win for me.
This book takes you on a trip that makes you question what you would do..
would you hurt her, kill her, release her??
it makes you think of choosing your family over a stranger
it makes you hate certain people in this world.
I will tell you while.. you will go down there.. you wont see this ending coming

This isn't my first ride on the Kiersten Modglin crazy train. I expected the plot to be over the top and it didn't disappoint. I thought I knew exactly where the story was going, but the final twist was jaw-dropping. The ending bumped my rating from two to three stars. The plot was fast-paced and entertaining. The narration added intensity and a sense of foreboding. Thank you, NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for my audiobook. ⭐⭐⭐
