POV ~ multiple 1st
Featuring ~ infidelity, secrets, lies, underage (view spoiler on my GR review)
Andi comes home early and Spencer is telling her not to go in the basement. What do you do when someone tells you not to do something? Well my nosy butt would probably crack my head falling down the stairs because I couldn't get down there fast enough to see what's happening.
Was there a twist? Sure was, but it has to do with my spoiler, so look at your own risk. Also, I'm pretty sure I would not help my hub commit a crime like that after I found out he was cheating on me...maybe if he wasn't, who knows, jk I don't plan to commit any crimes.
Andi makes some terrible choices from the beginning until the very end, but it's for her kids blah blah. And it wasn't very motherly of Heidi to not just hightail it to the police!!
Regarding my spoiler again ~ I wonder if I would feel differently if this was not my daughters age, or if I was not a mother at all? IDK, but at this point in my life I am just not the target audience for that crap. Can we give him a little slack because of where they met and the assumptions made? That'd be a big fat negative from me.
Luckily I was able to listen at 3x speed. It was super quick and fast paced, but not one character was likable, wait, maybe Andi's kids since they weren't a big part of the story. What was up with that ending, ugh!

Ok, So the start of this had me going this is boring. I can not listen to any more.
BUT, I am so glad I stuck it out. The twist at the end blew me away.
I would say if you can handle a slower listen that you just know something will happen this is the book for you to listen to.

What a jaw dropping book! I was constantly on the edge of my seat and definitely didn't see that twist at the end. The audiobook was great and the narrators did wonderful.
I do wish it was a little longer. We got a little bit more.

When a wife conjures horrible images of her husband after repeated missed calls she arrives home to make a horrifying discovery that will turn her life upside down.
This was such an addicting listen I was unable to put it down!! The horror, lies, and betrayal were hard to swallow.
The narrators, Natalie Naudus; Scott Brick; Jesse Vilinsky did a phenomenal job! I absolutely enjoyed every second of the audiobook. They used a wide array of tones and inflections and the fear, and sorry came across clearly. Loved it!
A very special thanks to Netgalley and Dreamscape Media for the ALC.

This was another good one but it wasn’t my favorite. I liked the build up but was able to figure this one out pretty early on. But I love this author and will always read her books!

🤩 Many thanks to Dreamscape Media, NetGalley, and Kiersten Modglin for this copy of the audiobook!
Oh my! Andi and Spencer are quite a pair! Overall, I thought the plot was engaging, twisty, and clever. I liked Andi up until the point when she got herself all caught up in Spencer’s self-inflicted drama. She was better than me because I would have left Spencer to deal with the mess he had made. Why do some women allow these men to drag them down? I wasn't feeling Spencer at all! I thought he was self-absorbed, selfish, and arrogant. I will applaud the author for creating such strong characters with strong personalities that elicited such strong feelings from me towards them. That, to me, is a sign of good writing; when you get me to react so strongly.

Kiersten Modglin is an automatic read for me. Her books are fast paced twisty, edge-of-your-seat thrillers full of turns and this was no exception. I enjoyed the narration of the audiobook. The narrators did an excellent job expressing the suspense and delivering this twisty thriller. It had plenty of shocking moments that had my jaw dropping and had me gasping. Don't Go Down There is another 4-star read.

Andi and Spencer are the main characters in this domestic thriller that doesn’t lack in twists and turns.
Spenser encounters an unwanted guest in his home who has an accident that leaves Spencer in an awkward predicament. This “guest” has the ability to change life as he knows it and so this accident soon turns into a gift if he plays it out correctly. But he didn’t factor on Andi coming home early to discover company in the basement.
And this is where the lies start, a plot is hatched and a wife can totally absolve wrongdoing because her husband really is a kind and good man. The reader really wants to shake this woman to wake her up but instead she plans along with him how to make it all go away.
A huge surprise changes the outcome of their plan and this sweet, kind and moral woman emerges as a cold hearted survivor. …….an exciting story to the end.

Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for a copy of this ebook.
I don’t think I’ve read/listened to a Kiersten Modglins book that I haven’t liked. Like the others I’ve read this one was full of suspense and secrets and twists. I don’t think this one was super unique but easily bingeable so if you are looking for a quick read this one is good.
While I feel that Modglins doesn’t typically go all out with character development, this book seemed to have even less than normal so it was hard to connect to or really root for any of the characters.
Despite these critiques this really is a fast reading, entertaining book. If I had to do it again I would prefer to actually read the book rather than listen as the male narrator just wasn’t hair me.

This is a very quick, engaging and full of twists book. I didn't really like any of the characters but I still enjoyed the story. The twist at the end totally took me by surprise!
Audiobook version was easy to listen too and both narrators were good.
Thank you NetGalley, Dreamscape Media and the author for ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I’m about to sound like I’m from Boston, because this was a wicked good, wicked fast, wicked fun domestic thriller. From the opening lines, you’re dropped straight into the action, which doesn’t let up for the entirety of this short novel.
The plot: wifey comes home to discover that not only is her husband having an affair, but he’s got the woman - a gorgeous actress- tied up in the basement of their house. And that’s not even the half of it! Can’t say more without major spoilers so I’ll stop here.
The author: Kiersten Modglin is a Professional Writer (caps intended). She understands what her readers want, and she delivers every time. I look forward to reading more by this fiercely talented author..
Major thank yous to the publisher, to #kierstenmodglin and to #netgalley for this #arc of #DontGoDownThere in exchange for my honest review.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review. This was a really quick read and I was a little disappointed when it was over so soon. Andi is trying to reach her husband but he is not answering her texts or phone calls. What could have happened to him, is he hurt has there been an accident, another woman? What would you do if you came home early and found your husband home already and looking at you in a guilty manner when he sees that you are already home? Most would think that he is having an affair and you expect to find him in the act. I can tell you that what Andi is going to be going through is much worse than that and the secret is down in the basement where her husband does not want her to go to. Hand on for this little thriller and ask yourself what would you do if this was your husband? And how far would you go to keep this secret hidden? Enjoy!!

3.5 *
This was yet another quick, one sitting read from the author I've come to associate with exactly this kind of book. Where a lot happens, so much that you can't put the book down and only think about what you have read after it's all over!
Spencer and Andi have a great marriage with two lovely kids and perfect understanding. When Andi finds Spencer at home, unexpectedly one day, her mind runs over all the possible reasons.. sickness, cheating, except the truth is much worse.
The battle between keeping her life intact and doing the right thing forms the rest of the narrative.
It's a short book with pretty frequent surprises so it was pretty engaging. I enjoyed it for the pure escapism it provided!

ok, imagine your husband comes home and confesses to having an affair...and not only that, he has the woman tied up in the basement...
This book does not have any build up, it is just like BAM, you're in the story. This is pretty common with Modglin's books. She wants to drop you right into the madness and I can appreciate that.
Andi is forced to make a decision; free the woman in the basement, or forgive her husband and help him get rid of her. I really liked Andi, she wasn't content just going along with her husband; she wanted the facts...which he didn't want to give her. We also were privy to flashbacks, showing us just how Spencer and his mistress first met.
I really loved this nonstop thriller. And the twist was one I did not see coming.

Cringy cringy cringy is all I could think while listening to this book. Modglin is the queen of writing characters who I love to hate! You know it’s a good book when your face is squished up in disgust the entire time.
The fast paced real time story kept me on the edge of my seat for the entire time and I read through this in record time because I had to know what was happening. Thank you NetGalley for the audio ARC. This one gave me nervous belly!!

This was a quick listen. I normally love K Mod books however this one just didn’t do it for me. Even though the book was a quick listen, it was a bit boring to me.
The whole middle was just uneventful and lacked the wow factor you normally get from her books.
The ending did have a twist I did not see coming, hence the 3 stars.

3/5
Thank you Dreamscape Media for the advanced listening copy.
Andi has a bad feeling. Her husband isn't answering his phone and he's home in the middle of the day, which is super unusual for him. When she arrives home to find her suspicions confirmed in a way she never expected, she is forced to decide what her morals truly are, and how far she'll go to help her husband.
Like all of KMod's books, this was a super quick and twisty story, it just didn't live up to what I normally expect from her. I was feeling a lack of dimension in the characters that I don't usually find in her fast-paced books, which was disappointing. However, there were still some great twists that kept me on my toes until the very end, leaving me totally shocked at certain points. I think this story was pretty good but the pacing left a bit to be desired. Overall, another quick and fun read, but this one won't leave a lasting impression.

This is my first time reading any of Kiersten Modglin’s work and I was immediately hooked within the first minute. “Don’t Go Down There” is fast-paced and action-packed with each chapter adding a new element of psychological terror and bad decisions. I had my speed on 2X because I was dying to know what happens sooner.
I loved the book. I HATED the characters. It truly made my skin crawl listening to Spencer’s inner monologue, justifying his terrible decisions without remorse. Until the end, I found myself hating Andi even more as she was the doting wife, loyal to the point that she’d end up ruining her life for her cheating husband. She finally redeemed herself for me by the end, but it took a while of me wanting to throw my audiobook across the room.
By having two leads that you didn’t want to root for was a really interesting concept that I’ve never read before. I really liked this added element as a listener, it made the story far more interesting for me. I love a flawed character and every single one in this story was flawed. It felt very human.
This book was pretty short, having really gotten to the point without any of the fluff which I didn’t mind. I will definitely be reading more of Kiersten Modglin’s books in the future! Thank you so much to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for proving an advanced copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

This book was a super quick read. I really enjoyed the narrators. It kept you guessing the entire time and the ending was very well done. There were a few twists and turns I did not see coming. I do wish the book was a bit longer, but I did enjoy it overall.

If you enter a Kiersten Modglin book you know what you sign up for: a totally twisted domestic thriller.
And that's exactly what "Don't go down there" is: a quick and enjoyable roller coaster that flies by!
Natalie Naudus; Scott Brick and Jesse Vilinsky did a great job in narrating this audiobook.
Thank you #NetGalley #Dreamscape Media for this advanced version
