I pretty much always love a new thriller from this writer. Something about her style just works for me; the stories (like this one!) often move quickly, and they make me think a bit, but not in a way that feels overwhelming. Basically, I like that her stories tend to touch on real issues without digging too deeply into them; they remain a great source of entertainment, and this book was no exception. It was short and sweet (and tense). It also had an oddly satisfying conclusion. Although she made some bad choices along the way, I was still rooting for the protagonist by the end and was happy with how things wrapped up. I’ll be waiting for the writer’s next exciting adventure.

This was a fast paced domestic thriller which is pretty standard for Kiersten Modglin and I enjoyed it. It follows a woman who discovers her husband has tied up his mistress in their basement. It was set in a single day and it had a nice twist. It was comparatively shorter than her other books so I recommend it can be easily read during a 24 hour readathon if that is something you're interested in.

This was a quick little listen with a nice plot line. It didn’t have my attention as some of her other books, sadly. I can say, however that I didn’t see the twist coming which I love. I would recommend to anyone looking for a quick listen/read. Thank you for the opportunity to listen to this audiobook!

“Better to be ignorant, than complicit.”
“My knees buckle underneath me without warning…” (yeah mine too KMod. I was trying to cook tacos for the fam and I about died myself at the end. 🤯)
4.5 rounded up to 5
This was a slower burn than I’m used to with KMod books but holy hell it got really wild the last half of the book. Things came together fast but not too fast…like good fast, edge of your seat…PAGE TURNING fast.
I couldn’t imagine being in Andi’s position.
I was totally stressed out in the best possible way.
KMod Squad for life. Seriously. I’ll read anything she writes. In fact as I write this I’m bumping my rating from a 4 to a 4.5. Why are her books so bingeable!? She’s helping me crush my reading goals.
The queen of domestic thrillers.

KMOD does it again! I definitely didn’t see any of those twists coming! This was a super quick listen and I enjoyed the narration too!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

Andi arrives home and can’t find her husband Spencer anywhere. When he finally appears, he looks a bit disturbed. He’s just come from the basement. When Andi asks questions, he tells her not to go down there. What is going on down in the basement?
Kiersten Modglin has given us another phenomenal domestic thriller here. The writing is just like you’d expect from her: extraordinary. The twists are both shocking and compelling. Modglin had me turning up the speed to listen faster. It’s a quick read. The narrator was perfect. I highly recommend it to anyone that enjoys thrillers! As usual, I can’t wait to read Modglin’s next book! 4/5 stars.

You often read the story from the prisoner’s view, not from the capture’s view. Well, here’s that version. The audiobook was like the best acted soap opera and I mean that as a high compliment. Enjoy it with a glass (or several) of wine! And enjoy the crazy twists you won’t see coming.

This book was a fine lesson in trying not to lie or at least do not bringing that lie home with you!.
Andi comes home one day from her teaching job to find a big surprise in her basement. Her husband, Spencer, who she is devoted to, has brought something home which he doesn't want her to know about, and yet she does.
It's a big revelation and as she tries to cope with its significance, she learns more about what a cad her beloved husband and what will be the repercussions if the big lie gets out.
It's a case of who do you trust or do you just walk away and try to forget, give up your comfortable life, or become a party to Spencer's plan?
I enjoyed this book that I was able to listen to. It was fast paced and held my attention right up to the very end with its conclusion.
Thanks you to Kiersten Modglin, Dreamscape Media, and NetGalley for the ability to listen to this story which already published in early Ma.

Don’t Go Down There is a domestic thriller told in multiple points of view mainly through And and Spencer, a husband and wife dealing with a very difficult situation. Don’t Go Down There starts off with a bang and will have you flying through the pages.

This one is a super fast-paced, bingable popcorn thriller. The pitting against one another leaves you with unease and constantly being unsure of who to root for, of what you think should happen. I loved the end twist (which I literally cannot say anything more about it otherwise it will ruin that jaw dropping moment). This story mainly deals with the main topic of “How far are you willing to go for the one you love”? This left me breathless, and had my mind racing thinking what would I do if I were in this situation?!

I listened to this one via audiobook and flew through it in a matter of one sitting. It has a full cast narrated by Natalie Naudus, Scott Brick, and Jesse Vilinsky which is my absolute favorite (I need a full cast for multiple point of view reads). They were great!

Huge thank you to @netgalley, @kierstenmodglin and @dreamscapemedia for the ALC in exchange for my honest review! Don’t Go Down There was released on Feb 28th but the audio was just released on May 4th, be sure to check out kmods latest domestic thriller!

This is an excellent book. It’s a page turner that’s impossible to put down. I love that the author only give us the minimal information, it makes it harder to predict the ending. This is for me a short book but it’s one I enjoyed reading.

Andi is quite happy with her life, her husband, and their comfortable routine. But when she gets a notification saying her husband is unexpectedly at home and he won’t return her calls or texts, she can’t help but fear the worst. Or so she thought. What she finds at home is even worse than she could have imagined, and she has to make a choice she never thought she would face.
This is a short mystery/thriller read that was fine overall. But because it was so short, it was lacking some oomph. There wasn’t much character development, which made it difficult to be invested in any of the characters. It also made it difficult to understand why Andi and Spencer made the choices they did (especially Andi), which makes for a somewhat frustrating read. It was told from the dual POV of both Andi and Spencer, which helped to flesh out the story a bit more.
The ending was not good. The resolution was so unbelievable that it made me shake my head while reading it. Then the last chapter was a flashback that 1. Repeated information we already knew from a slightly different perspective, 2. Didn’t resolve much of anything, and 3. Didn’t help me to care about the characters. So what did it add?
This is a fine, quick read if you don’t give it too much thought and are looking for an afternoon of easy entertainment.
Thank you to Dreamscape Media & NetGalley for allowing me to read and review this book

Don’t Go Down There by Kiersten Modglin is a fast paced domestic thriller.
When Andi comes home from work she gets an uneasy feeling and after she goes room to room looking for her husband she hears something down in the basement. When she starts to go she hears her husband say “Don’t go down there”. What’s in the basement and how is Andi gonna deal with it? Well you must read to find out!
There’s a great twist that I didn’t see coming.
Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the audio in exchange for an honest review.

This story is just simply unbelievable and the narrator doesn't help!! I can't think of any wife and mother who would go along with hiding a woman that her husband abused in their basement!!! I made it to 20% and that's all I could take.
Maybe others can suspend belief but it wasn't for me.
Thank you for the opportunity to listen to this novel

Whelp. Didn't see that one coming. As per the usual, KMod had me thinking I knew exactly how this one was going to end and then she pulled the rug right out from under me. This one was pretty messed up and quite twisted, but oh so good.
The audio was okay, I liked the female narrator quite a lot, but the male narrator didn't have many differences in his voices. A few times I paused and came back, only to rewind because I couldn't figure out who he was talking to, because frankly, his Andi sounded just like his Spencer and I thought it was actually a male coworker. But overall I really enjoyed the listen.
*possible spoilers ahead*
I really liked the main female character, Andi. I felt like I would have acted fairly similarly in this situation to be honest. She wants to give her husband the benefit of the doubt, that it was all a mistake, and she wants to keep her family together, even though deep down she knows how wrong it was and that he probably shouldn't be forgiven. She really seems to sympathize with Heidi and hopes to make her see reason, but there's really no reasoning to be had.
Spencer is.... well, a bass terd. Since he was a narrator, I tried to like him thinking he wasn't that bad, but he really was just a big ole piece of fish poo. When all the truths come out I wanted to scream my bloody head off at him, I just couldn't believe it. Although his thing with the drug dealer was pretty hilarious, so at least he was good for something.
All in all, Don't Go Down There was another thrilling read from KMod. She never ceases to amaze me and I can't get enough.

ARC audiobook provided in exchange for an honest review.
The three narrators of this book did a wonderful job! All were clear and concise, and made it a very easy listening experience! The story is rather short as far as books go, and is about a husband and wife living an idyllic uncomplicated life until one day when secrets are revealed and everything changes. There were a couple of huge twists near the end that I didn’t see coming and fit the story perfectly! I would definitely recommend to anyone who likes psychological thrillers/ domestic thrillers.

This is a thriller that shows the ripple effect of an affair gone wrong. Andy Edwards comes fine and could feel something wrong. She was right. Something was really wrong.
Many thanks to Net Galley and Dreamscape Media for an advanced audiobook.

Well, that was a quick read! I actually listened to the audiobook - props to the narrators- they all did a fantastic job!! I finished it in just a few short hours today and boy let me tell you- it had me hooked! The twists in this one sure packed a punch! I can't say I saw any of them coming.
Overall, it was a quick, enjoyable story. Andi comes home from work early looking for her husband who she can't get a hold of, and low & behold- his stuff is there, at home. She surprised him, he was actually out in the garage, but what was he up to? Turned out he had a woman in the basement and we learn he had an affair. This woman confronted him about the said affair and there was an altercation resulting in a fall and a broken wrist, and eventually, he tied her up. What will Andi do with all this information? Will she turn him in and save the woman? Will she seek revenge on her, thinking she slept with her husband? You will definitely want to find out and you won't see it coming!
** Trigger warning should be mentioned for brief discussion of rape ***
Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for a free advanced copy of the audiobook in exchange for my honest review.

Super fast paced and bingeable. Finished it in less than a day while I was working. Suspend reality and go along for the ride and you’ll enjoy this domestic thriller.
Andi comes home from work one day and finds her husband is home too, which is unusual for him. She fears he must be in the middle of an affair she’s about to walk in on but what she walk in on is something much different than that and she is forced to make choices she never thought she would.
There’s not much chance for character development because the story is so short and I found myself not really liking either of the main characters which also made it hard to understand why they did some of the things they did.
It’s told from the POV of both Andi and her husband Spencer, in current times and leading to how we got to this point.
If you don’t want anything super deep and just want something to entertain you for an afternoon, this is your book.
I really liked the narration as well. All characters were well portrayed.
Thanks to the author and NetGalley for this audiobook arc in exchange for my review.

I love the way that Kiersten Modglin tells a story. There isn’t a lot of fluff and it’s a straight shot from beginning to end. This is my favorite type of story.
This one wasn’t quite up to par for me, but I did still really enjoy it. The three different POVs with their separate narrators added to the story. We get the story from a wife and husband and then eventually their babysitter as the story progresses. The drama unfolds at a solid pace, but it was the “twist” at the end that really didn’t do it for me.
So other than the twist at the end this was very good - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.
So as this one started off I wasn’t too sure I was going to like it. I kept listening though and just wow. I absolutely was NOT expecting that twist at the end. Technically two twists. That was a great surprise.
Quick and easy listen. Narrators did a good job. No extra fluff in this one. It’s pretty to the point and an enjoyable listen.
