Well, much like the first two in the series, I cried at some point. Lights takes the reader on a journey through Wendell's past, which is sad but I think most of us knew it would be, and Marjorie and Eliza's friendship continuing to work. I found the emotions to be very real throughout the whole series, it can be hard to find your people and to keep those relationships in good repair when you're still trying to figure out who you are. Marjorie, Eliza, and Wendell all learn that friendship is a give and take on both sides but that it helps make life worth so much. I still enjoyed the artwork with the cool color pallet, especially since the weather is set in November at this point in the graphic, and as always Wendell is a highlight for me because I find him so dang adorable. A great finale to the series that I was happy with, even through a few shed tears.

Lights concludes Brenna Thummler's Sheets trilogy, a trilogy that when I read the first volume I didn't even imagine was something that was more than one volume.

To conclude Marjorie's journey of growth and her relationship with Wendell - a friendly little ghost who settled in Marjorie's family's laundry room and befriended her - all that was left was to discover the cause of his death.

I've always really liked the colors and style of this comic (everything apart from the noses), but what caught me most about this volume was the story that tied together the stories of the three characters that gained more focus in the other volumes, with the girls consolidating friendships and with the little ghost Wendell the whole mystery of what happened to be a ghost.

It's cool to see the themes within friendship relationships being addressed in each volume, here the friendships are well consolidated, but what if each person starts to have an interest or starts to mature at different speeds, how long will the friendship last? This is one of the main plots of the volume.

The mysteries and relationships were developed, and although everything has an atmosphere that will point to villains and good guys, this is not what happens and everyone has the chance to tell their own side of the story and it is possible to defend the secondary characters calmly.

This was an enjoyable conclusion to the Sheets trilogy. The illustrations were beautiful, and it gave a nice conclusion to the series. It had some fun moments, some friendship-building moments, and some heart-wrenching moments. This is the perfect read for this time of year (or really any time of year!). A fun story that I won't quickly forget.

overall, this volume of the series is rather sad. marjorie and eliza's friendship reaches a low point when marjorie reconnects with her former friends who used to bully eliza. their relationship is emotionally fraught as eliza is repeatedly deprioritized. meanwhile wendell is torn between the two, as well as torn up inside as he stirs up memories of his life, and tries to solve the mystery of his death.

and oh my goodness, wendell is so earnest and funny. flashback kiddo wendell is so fucking alive, soft and vulnerable, and nearly as cute as ghostie wendell.

eliza is a fantastic character too, so brave and clever and thoughtful. she's also funny as hell. i love the moment where marjorie suggests they become friendly with theater staff members to acquire information to aid in their investigation, and eliza snaps back, "BEFRIEND them? That could take years." she always keeps it real and i love her.

I have greatly enjoyed the Sheets series since I discovered it years ago. I loved learning about Wendell's life before he was a ghost, but this plot didn't move me as much as Delicates did. I don't know if reading Delicates a few months ago left such an impact on me and I expected to have the same feeling with Lights. I didn't, but the art was still spectacular and the character development was still complex and emotionally moving. I love what Thummler has to say about grief, friendships, and growing up and how uncomfortable it can be when you are in middle school. I did enjoy this, but Delicates is such a standout sequel (and my favorite of the series) that's it a hard one to follow up.

Brenna Thummler has done it again with her Sheets series. This is a fun read especially during spooky season. If you like graphic novels, don't miss this series! Thank you to the publisher and Net Galley for allowing me to review this book.

I was excited to read the conclusion of this series; however, it was a chore to get through. The pacing was off, and the author introduced elements in the first half that felt unnecessary. The narrative could have been stronger if it had focused solely on unraveling the mystery of Wendell’s death. The inclusion of friendship drama didn’t contribute much to the story. On a positive note, I loved the color scheme in Wendell’s flashbacks. While the book stands as the weakest in the trilogy, I found satisfaction in the ending. It served as a fitting send-off to the main characters.

I am finally writing a review for this, it has taken a while but this was a great ending to an otherwise amazing story!

I was gifted the arc of this and I was so incredibly excited to get to read it before it was released officially, I’m a fan of the other two volumes in this series and was actually gifted the first one for Christmas from a friend who “thought it looked cute”
But it’s not only cute, it’s a deeper story about friendship, feeling left out and finding yourself.
I thought it was both fun but also quite sad to see Wendell’s story and how it ended up like it did.
Also really loved the dynamic between friends and also how it showed that you can get hurt but still find your way back to each other.

Some quotes I liked are:

“I can be lonely and sad and still be okay”

“Friendship happens naturally and unexpectedly, with people you don’t have to think twice about”

“You know bug, any friend - dead or alive- who says your life is worth living? That’s a good friend you have there”

In conclusion, I will recommend this to everyone I know and I’m glad I can put it on my shelf soon with the rest of the story!

I think this story was a great way to explore the difficulty ans struggle that comes with friendship. It dealt with a very realistic struggle between two friends that I witness happening everyday within school halls.
It also talks about judging people based on rumors and not really getting to know them.
Between the art style and the story I think this is one of my new favorite graphic novels.

I love the Sheets trilogy and this final book was so good! The art, the story, and the characters are all amazing. I really enjoyed seeing Eliza and Marjorie overcoming their problems and helping Wendell figure his own story. It's very emotional and beautiful

Very rarely does a series, trilogy, or even two-parter end on a high, and @brennathummler has succeeded with this trilogy.

My heart is sad because it has ended, and I won't see Wendell again.. but I know I can always revisit this trilogy because it is just so damn good.

Lots of "cliffhangers" are dealt with, and we learn about true friendship.

She tackles the tough issues with expert storytelling and gorgeous art.

As much as I am sad to see this series come to an end, I have to admit that Brenna Thummler nailed the ending. No surprise there! With this being the 3rd book in a series, I am nervous to say too much. Lights ended up filling my heart with love. It left me feeling like the world needs Brenna's next book series .... WENDELL!!

I really liked the entire series of these books. They had a lot of heartfelt messages about loss and continuing to go on after loss. I adored Wendall.

I absolutely adore this entire series! Sheets definitely follows suit with the previous two books in being amazing. I really hope this series continues!!

You know when you can’t wait to read the final book in a series but at the same time you don’t want to read it because once you reach the end, it’s the end? Welcome to my Sheets dilemma.

Marjorie and Wendell have lived in my heart for five years now. Eliza joined them two years ago. Lights gave me Wendell’s story, which I have needed to know since the day I met him, but I’m still not ready to say goodbye to this trio of outcasts.

I love them individually but I love them even more when they’re together. That’s not to say I wasn’t ready to give one of the characters a talking to at one point, but they came good in the end.

Grief and loneliness have weaved their way through this trilogy, and sadness and some anger have accompanied them. There’s also been friendship, messy and complicated, but also wonderful.

I loved Tierney at first sneer. For someone who could have been cast as the villain, and was in many areas of her life, she had a complexity that drew me to her. I kept wanting more page time with her.

After being wowed by the artwork in the first two graphic novels in the series, I expected a lot from this one and wasn’t disappointed. Before you read a word, you know from the colour palette alone that you are in the world of Sheets.

It’s inviting and soothing and lovely. Wendell’s past came with its own set of colours so, at a glance, you knew which time period you were in. Young Wendell is absolutely adorable.

Am I sad that it’s over? Of course. Am I glad I was along for the ride? Absolutely.

Bring on whatever Brenna Thummler creates next.

the vibes are impeccable, as usual. moody suburban landscapes are colored in beautiful pinks and purples and blues. and this time we have icy november's cold, dirty snowdrift blues.

i think each book in this series is more mature and emotionally nuanced than the last. the original sheets has a cartoonishly evil villain, but this one has a complicated villain whom we learn is not wholly bad. thummler's writing has come a long way.

i really loved the quiet solemnity of this grand finale. we're left with bittersweet closure, and the message that friends are like lights, helping keep the darkness away 😭

Lovely conclusion to an amazing series! This book answers all of our nagging questions in a way that ends the series on a bright light. I loved how the girls were able to work together to figure things out, as well as the whole story we learn about Wendell. This is such an amazing series for kids, and I cannot wait to read another book by Brenna.!

This is the final book in the Sheets trilogy and I'm so sad that this story is over! However this volume was fantastic! In this book we are mostly focusing on Wendell and figuring out why he died. But his memories are fuzzy since it was so long ago. Can the girls come together and figure out this mystery?
