This book had 2 parts for me: the first half which I really liked and then the 2nd half which I didn’t like as much. This is a touching story of how 2 people met on a plane ride (Tessa & Simon.) The two of them are opposites yet made it a point to travel across the world to see each other and fall in love. Something devasting happens and it takes a while for them to get back on track. Overall, a good book. This was my first book to read of Anna Gomez’s. I look forward to reading more from her.
Thank you to NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book for my honest review.

I received a free copy of, My Goodbye Girl, by Anna Gomez, from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Tessa and Simon are travelers who meet in an airplane and then meet up from time to time. I could not get into this book or connect with Tessa. I did not care for the ending either.

This latest book by Anna Gomez was just ok for me. Girl meets boy, they get together, I wanted to like it more than I did. The End. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this early release in exchange for my honest review. To be published June 2023.

My Goodbye Girl fits into the new trend of more realistic romance, I’ve read several new title lately that fit this category. Life in general and love are messy and hard. Traditional romance always has a happy ending or happy for now ending. Newer romance tends to reflect real life with ups and downs and happiness in the moment but not a perfect ending. This was a little bittersweet. Loved the star-crossed lover theme. The first part of the book was fun and playful. Simon and Tessa meet on a plane.and then fate throws them back together. Though they live in different cities they continue to develop their relationship by meeting up in different locations. Full of travel.
Enjoyed the fun meet cute and early part of this. Got a little bogged down after the beginning for me. Something about Tessa wasn’t working for me but then as the story continued she grew as a character and I grew to like her. Tragic events and misunderstandings separate Tessa and Simon. The last part of the book brings them back together. Tessa and Simon were both hurt by each other and have to decide if they want to put in the work to have a relationship.
This was fun but also serious. Enjoyed the travel elements. Definitely recommend to readers who want a bit more substance and less saccharine content than a typical romance.

Thank you to NetGalley and Rosewind Books for the ARC in exchange for my honest review. Very glad I picked this one up.

The main plot twist was quite unexpected and heartbreaking. While difficult to read about gun violence, anything that continue to raise awareness and hopefully lead to policy change. I understood how Tessa reacted post the traumatic event in Paris, but her actions in the subsequent years seemed immature and unfair to Simon.

This book sucked me in right from the start. I love stories that start from unique circumstances. They are always fun to read and this one was no different.

Tessa & Simon were definitely opposites and maybe that's what truly brought them together. And maybe it's also what ultimately drove them apart.

I loved the people in Tessa's life. She has one of the best support systems I think I've ever read about in a fiction book. They had her back and knew when to push her and when to hold back.

Simon's family wasn't as prominent in this story but their love for him was still so evident. He knew what he wanted and he knew how to get there.

You could argue this story isn't a HEA but because of the circumstances maybe we can call it a HFN (happy for now) because we know how ultimately it'll end.

I would recommend this book.

Thank you, Netgalley and Meryl Moss for this review copy.

But unfortunately this book didn't work for me, even though it's my favourite genre. I didn't finish this book so it's not really a review; just a few reasons why it didn't work for me:

Insta-love is not my thing.

I couldn't connect with the writing style. The story is being told from two points of view and it seemed repetitive to me.

The male protagonist was acting totally out of his character, as he admits himself, a scientist behaving like a loony, desperate teenager. It was too much for his nerd kind of personality, someone who has never made any effort for a girl, someone who is not on any social media platforms (doesn't even know what is Whatsapp; I was surprised he knew how to install it on his phone) was behaving like a creepy stalker. He even slips his card into the girl's bag in their very first meeting even though they had barely interacted in their totally uneventful (and unimaginative) first meeting.

Dialogues and their conversation were dull for a romantic story. There's a message exchange:
* Where are you?
At the lab.
Again?
That’s my job.
How are those nanoparticles doing? Are they on to you yet? I’m bored and one of my fans just squeezed my butt.
Lucky. *

I mean really?!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for letting me read this eARC of My Goodbye Girl.
Tess, a writer and Simon, a scientist meet by chance on a plane and there is instant attraction. They continue to arrange to meet all over the world. Will they have what it takes to make it work beyond brief meet ups or will their pasts doom them to be alone forever?
A love at first site doomed lovers story that takes you all over the world with many twists and turns. The plot kept me reading and I enjoyed the suspense of what would come next for these two main characters. I will admit I enjoyed one character more than the other. I was also happy to see mental health and inclusion of attending therapy in the plot. On the spicy romance scale this story falls in the middle. Not too spicy but just enough to add to the story.
The story did what a star crossed lovers story is supposed to do. Leave you filled with frustration one minute and hope the next. Over all an enjoyable read. 4 stars.

this is a great beach read for the summer. It has a lot of endings and beginnings. While there is the typical misunderstandings between the boy and girl this novel carries it to another dimension. The story will make you laugh and cry.

I was asked to review “Goodbye Girl” by Anna Gomez and was happy to do so.

Tessa, a NY writer, is on the same flight as Simon, a London scientist. They don’t talk but that moment leaves to further chance encounters. Their connection grows but they have separate lives and goals that might not lead to a romantic relationship. Yet, a tragedy forces them to change their priorities, which could ultimately lead to a happy every after.

I thought this was a sweet story. It was slow-building but that wasn’t necessarily a bad thing. I also felt like the writer did a good job in developing the characters and not following into predictability.

I am new to Anna Gomez’s writing but am have happy to have found a new author to enjoy.

Many thanks to the author, NetGalley and publisher for my ARC in exchange for my honest review.

My Goodbye Girl was a touching story which I thought had a big focus on relationships, Tessa and Simon's, Tessa and her best friend Riley and Tess and her brother Jake. As mentioned in the synopsis, Tessa and Jake are very different people, Tessa can't stay still and Simon, as a scientist, likes routine. After their chance encounter on the airplane, Simon goes out of character to reach out to Tessa. The first two thirds of the story focus's on Simon and Tessa's relationship building, as the sneak out to meet each other in different countries. This was a big part of the story and I really enjoyed the scenery of places they went to and their relationship building. Then something devastating happens, and the last of the book is about rebuilding. I found it a fun read, and found myself cheering for Tessa and Simon and wishing them a happy ending.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I adored this book it’s the first thing I’ve ever read by Anna Gomez and I am thrilled to have been given the chance by NetGalley & Meryl moss media to read an advanced copy. Honestly couldn’t put it down one of my top 10 reads for the year so far ! Amazing character development and story line I could not put it down I had to find out what happens in their story, I did not want it to end !! I hope so much there is a second part to Tess, Simon & Ciela’s story!

When a chance encounter introduces Tessa a writer from New York , and Simon a scientist from London he knew she was special and kicked himself for not introducing himself to her during their flight. He knew immediately he needed to take him chance while still at the airport before she got away.

It took me a little bit to get into this book but once we hit chapter 6 I was all in.
Tessa is quite self centred, with a fly by the seat of your pants personality when we first get to know her . While Simon craves a well mapped life , meticulously planned out .They say opposites attract, and these two couldn’t be any more opposite or perfect for each other. We get to follow their love story all over the world from a casual fling to something more. Every time Tess gets cold feet Simon is right there pushing his way into her heart.

When Tragedy strikes once again in Tess’s life , it shakes their foundation to the core , but star crossed lovers are always meant to be. Will they find their way back to each other before it’s too late ?

Thanks so much to Meryl Moss Media Group, Rosewind Books, and NetGalley for an advance read in exchange for this review.

Tessa and Simon first meet on a plane. Their lives are so different, but they somehow manage to meet up all over the world for several years. An unthinkable tragedy happens that separates them and they must figure out how to let go in order to move on.

I thought this was such an interesting romance. I really liked Simon and thought he was so romantic. I sometimes felt annoyed with Tessa, but I also understood how some losses when she was a child have shaped who she is today. The unimaginable happens, and it absolutely gutted me. I was not prepared for it, and I felt so sad for Tessa and Simon. Their love story felt quite real and really felt like love. I loved it!

This is a captivating, fascinating story of two very opposite people that captured not only my attention from the very beginning, but also my heart.

Tessa is on her way to La Guardia from Boston and finds her seat, 7C, a window seat. She stands up on the aisle seat so she can place her bag in the overhead compartment. The handsome man who has the aisle seat comes along and mentions that she is standing on his seat. This is where the story begins.

Simon, a scientist, very detailed, organized and a man who plans his next step, is in the aisle seat. Tessa, a best seller author lives moment by moment, seated by the window. They never speak a word to each other during the flight. Tessa begins to write a few notes on her boarding pass about the hot guy in the aisle seat. She is in town for a book signing and a few functions with fans. When the plane lands, he gets her bag down and hands it to her, but not before slipping his business card inside.

The adventures of Simon and Tessa goes on for several years, meeting at various places around the world. She encourages him to do things he would never consider doing, like jumping from a cliff into the water below. She finds herself a bit more organized, by picking up after herself. After each trip they say good-bye until the next time. Simon calls her his “Goodbye Girl.”

Tessa’s only family is her older brother, Jacob, since their parents died unexpectedly in an accident years earlier. After a tragic accident in Paris while Simon, Tessa, Jacob and his fiancé, Riley are there, life takes on in a different directions for both Simon and Tessa. There are long-held secrets that have not been revealed, and different twists to this intriguing story that had me turning the pages right to the end. Days later, I am still thinking of this remarkable story of Tessa and Simon.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

I really enjoyed the premise of this book - a chance meeting that turns into more. I found the main character, Tessa, to be a little difficult to warm up to at first but eventually was unable to put the book down. While the story had tropes I am not a fan of (and while reading HATED) I do think the book was a good read! It is not at all what I expected and not your typical light romance novel.

I received an advanced copy of this book through NetGalley and am sharing my thoughts voluntarily.

Fun, upbeat and chic. Amanda Gomez introduces us to two opposites that attract. I found myself rooting for Tess and Simon. Trying to will them out of their habits and into the love that seemed to want to elude them. I really like how Amanda tried to be real with the concept of loss and what it does to us. Fun read with addictive characters and dialogue, I guess I have found another romance writer I love.

Perfect for armchair travelers, My Goodbye Girl takes the reader for a trip around the world. At times poignant, steamy, and heartfelt, this romance is certainly not "fluff". Using real-world complications, it combines heartbreak and romance - creating a love story for the ages.
