I think this book would be a gift for the first time mom who struggles to ask for help and who has a traditional church support system. I read this in the midst of my own postpartum time and was hopeful to find lots of wisdom and gentleness for me. While there certainly was some of that, I felt like I wasn't quite the book's target audience. I live far from family and am not part of a local church body right now and I found some of the practical parts to not apply to me but the author was assuming it would. The tone bothered me at times. It didn't work for me to be called "sister" and I didn't need to be convinced that medication is helpful for mental health or that therapists cry too. There's definitely some gifts in these pages for a new mom, but it didn't quite work for me.

I shouldn't have requested this book so it totally makes it my fault but I'm not a follower of Christianity. The biblical references were just too much for me and they kept nagging me.

I really liked the book as it is about postpartum anxiety or depression and oh boy, believe me it hits home hard. And to make matters worse, even after me being a doctor I had little to no support so I don't know how other survive it really.

I knew already what was going to happen and yet I cried every night with my husband trying to soothe me and baby both. Must have been even more difficult for him given he had to work too but he did whatever he could and I'm grateful for him.

Now coming to the book, it's relatable and a good read if you believe in Bible. I for one would not suggest someone who doesn't follow it. Except biblical reference, this book is totally saver for those who are suffering from postpartum depression. It will help them.

Thank you Netgalley and Nelson books for the ARC in exchange of an honest review.

This would make the perfect baby-shower gift to a new mom to be! It’s a great book for the seasoned mothers too. Gives great details of what to expect after having your baby. Offers prayers and personal experiences. I read this while rocking my 3 month old baby in the middle of the night and it really calmed me. Knowing that I was going through similar feelings and emotions that were in this book helped soothed my mind. Newborn stage is not easy but this book helps with questions and advice you might need.

I absolutely loved this book! As a new mama and health care worker, I really appreciate the combination of of personal experience and professional information shared by the author. She not only struggled with PPD but also helps women struggling with it as well. This title was extremely uplifting, informative and encouraging. I highly recommend for new moms as well as anyone who wants to understand how to help new moms.

I wish this book was available a year ago when I was diagnosed with perinatal & postpartum depression/anxiety. Rachael beautifully writes with both biblical wisdom and professional expertise, as well as writes from her personal experience. This book was comforting, informative, and encouraging. I’ve already bought a copy for a friend and will continue to point women to this book as a resource for those Wild West days of their fourth trimester. Thank you for writing and publishing this book. It is so necessary to support mental health for postpartum women, especially those looking for biblical counsel.
