I struggled a little to read this book, I liked it, but not enough to not want to put it down and take breaks. Sometimes it was a struggle to get me to pick it back up! The idea behind the book and the plot were great, I truly never saw the twist coming, until the end when June and Wyatt were getting to the memorial, it finally was hitting me. I feel as though the middle of the book had too much of a lull and I wasn't as sucked in as I like to be in books, making it hard for me to smash through the story as I normally do. I think potentially shortening the book in certain sections, or even giving more depth to the characters could have lent more to the story, I just felt like maybe I was missing pieces when it would jump around at some areas, and others I was just bored by the story because it felt repetitive. especially when it came to Becca's story,

This is an entertaining, well-written, psychological thriller which is told in two time-lines. It is a fast paced and suspenseful novel, which is focused on the secrets and mystery surrounding a small town tragedy. It kept me interested and invested in the conclusion!

A small town is rocked by the death of a teen girl while the decision of her brother are questioned. A little slow at first but picked up nicely.

Thank You to NetGalley for allowing me to preview this book!

Twenty-Seven Minutes is an intense read. The author is Canadian – which I love. I was shocked to find out this is a debut. The writing is strong. The structure of the story is layered in just the right places going back and forth between now and then with ease. The characters are all well developed.
The grief and trauma of characters bleeds from the pages. Tate writes with brutal honesty. I will be waiting for Ashley Tate’s next release.

I liked the premise of this book but the characters were so unlikeable. The only one I half way liked or sympathized with was June. It is an easy read, moves pretty quickly but I didn’t love it.

SYNOPSIS
-Ten years ago, Phoebe Dean, a highschooler, was killed in a car accident on the way home from a party. Her brother, Grant Dean, was driving the car, and Becca was in the backseat. Grant waited 27 minutes to call the police.
-Now, the small town is still remembering Phoebe, and lots of people are still wondering what happened to her. A memorial is scheduled to remember her, and it brings a lot of questions.

MY THOUGHTS
-This was a major snooze fest. Truly, nothing actually happens in this book.
-The writing is not good, and I'm not sure why exactly this needed to be written.
-None of the characters are likeable, which is fine, but they also are not developed.
-The same thoughts are repeated over and over again.
-The ending was not satisfying, and it felt really cheap to me.
-I read so many books in this genre, and this is not one I would recommend. It isn’t even a thriller or suspense.
-Even when we find out what happened to Phoebe, it is not satisfying.

TL;DR: ⭐️⭐️There’s too many books out there. I wouldn’t recommend this one. It isn’t even a thriller or suspense.

Thanks to Poisoned Pen Press and Netgalley for this digital ARC in exchange for an honest review. This book is out now.

This was a very well written mystery. I always think I know who the killer is or what happened and quite often I’m right but this one had me guessing throughout the book. The author told the story from many different perspectives. It was interesting to see the same events from different points of view and also from when the death/accident happened and then ten years later when they are preparing for the memorial. The characters were developed very well and I was excited to get to the climax of the story so I could find out what actually happened. I’m looking forward to reading more from Tate.

You know those books where you shirk all of your responsibilities and things you’re doing so you can finish the book? This was that book for me. What a masterpiece of a book. It was super easy to get through, a truly quick read in the best way. I finished this book in one day, which is something I haven’t done in a long time because I’ve been in a rut. I cannot recommend this book enough!

Ashley Tate’s debut novel “Twenty-Seven Minutes” is quite the thriller.

Told from multiple POVs across different timelines, the story will keep readers entranced until the final twist. At times, it did feel like a bit of a slow burn suspense, but it was still fun nonetheless.

I really enjoyed the story and look forward to reading more from Ashley Tate very soon.

The synopsis for this book drew me in but the book let me down. It was hard to keep up and hard to differentiate between some of the characters. It was a great first attempt at writing a book for the author and I am willing to read her next book to see if it was just a one off. 3 stars.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the free copy of Twenty-Seven Minutes by Ashley Tate for my honest review.

I really wanted to love this book, but the excessive and repetitive teenage drama was too much for me. It had me hooked at the beginning, but then slowed down quite a bit. I think it was longer than it needed to be. I am glad I finished it so I could know what happened, but it did leave me with more questions. I plan to try another one of Ashley Tate's books if she comes out with more. I would say this would be a slow burn suspense novel with a little paranormal mixed in.

This is a slow burn mystery and a debut for Tate. I thought this was going to be a thriller, but it was not. However, there was a good twist towards the end, but definitely not what I was expecting going into it, and I think that had me feeling a bit disappointed. Overall, it was an okay review. A definite slow burn.

The characters were well written in that I hated all of them, but nothing happened that moved the story forward. Very boring slog.

Twenty Seven Minutes by Ashley Tate was a slow burn ina. Small town with changing POV and time. It was a story about Grant who was driving 10 years ago, his sister Phoebe who tragically died in a car accident 10 years ago, Becca who was in the accident as well, June and Wyatt,Junes brother who went missing 10 years ago the night of the accident. To me, most of the characters were not likeable or relatable. The story did have a twist at the end but fell a bit short.

What a thrilling debut!! I will definitely keep Ashely Tate on my radar! Twenty-Seven Minutes is a slow burn but well worth it. Phoebe Dean was the town's "Laura Palmer" everyone loved her and had such promise, until she was killed in a tragic accident. Now, a decade later a memorial being planned brings out all... the..... secrets. Soooo many secrets. Awesome twists, had a hard time empathizing with any of the characters. June, her brother Wyatt, loony Becca, Grant... what a story!

Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for the ARC.
Interesting book but not one of my favorites. I found it to be a lighter suspense and more of a general fiction novel.
Not one of my favorites.
