I really enjoyed this book. It's full of action and suspense. I'll be reading more from Jane E. James.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Joffre books for my ARC.

I honestly found Linda to be insufferable but somehow that didn't take away from how great the story was. The first half was sort of a slow burn but interesting enough to keep you going, then once the twists started coming they didn't stop!

Thank you Janes E. James, NetGalley, and Joffe Books for the ARC of this book.

It’s really had to describe this book without giving away any of the many plot twists LOL We basically follow our MC (Linda) and her crazy life/marriages.

I am a HUGE fan of thrillers (especially psychological thrillers). However, this book was not my cup of tea. It felt like many lifetime movies and different ideas put together. I’m a sucker for drama but this just felt like a little TOO much drama. It felt like too much was going on. It felt lacking on the character development. I found myself not really caring about the characters.

That being said, I could see how some people would be a fan of this book, it just wasn’t for me.

This book was sent to me electronically by Netgalley for review. Thanks to the author and the publisher. Intrigue keeps this mystery alive. The characters are likable and realistic. The story of a missing husband, and the red herrings kept me guessing. Enjoy

This really was a fun read. I love suspense books about revenge, shady husbands and catfishing so it wad right up my street. I'd say that it's one of those books that you just need to enjoy for what it is and if you start to overtime it or pull it apart then you just ruin it for yourself. It's got a good pace and is a quick and easy read. It's not always the most believable but that's why it's a fiction book, it doesn't have to be. As I said, just appreciate it for what it is and you get a really enjoyable wee story

“Her Second Husband” by Jane E James is a great psychological thriller, more domestic than the usual supernatural elements that are usually portrayed in her books, so I much preferred this one.
The characters are strong, well rounded and a little older than the usual books of this genre so this was a refreshing change.
Intricately crafted and beautifully written - I really enjoyed this book and I think it’s one that will continue to inspire readers to think about what they want in their own lives too.

A very good mystery thriller and one that I couldn’t put down, a very good ending and not one I was expecting so it kept me guessing

Her Second Husband by Jane E. James. It's an absolute page-turner! Linda, the protagonist, hits rock bottom and ends up living in a rundown flat after sacrificing everything for a dream that never materialised. But then, she joins a dating site and comes across a bloke who looks like her supposedly dead second husband!

The story is packed with twists and turns that kept me guessing until the very end. Although I could predict some of the plot points, I was still thoroughly hooked on the story. The characters are so well-written and fleshed out that I felt like I was living in their world.

The writing style is really easy to follow, and the descriptions of the settings are so vivid that I felt like I was right there with Linda, whether she was in her fancy house or her rubbish flat. I couldn't put the book down!

I'd totally recommend Her Second Husband to anyone who loves a good thriller. It's a solid four-star read, even though some bits were a little predictable. But, honestly, it didn't even matter because I was still so invested in the story!

Well, what’s there to say apart from things you do for love!! Lots of twists and unexpected turns in this story of love, family and friendship. A very hectic but fairly believable storyline. It kept me hooked for 2 days as the momentum intensified towards the ending. What a whirlwind of emotions for the main character. Never read a book by this author before but would definitely read another.

Many thanks to Joffe Books and NetGalley for allowing me an advanced copy to read in exchange for my open and honest review. As always, my reviews will also be posted on Amazon, Goodreads and Waterstones and interaction on Facebook and instagram where possible.

I want to start off by thanking Jane E. James, Joffe Books, and NetGalley for this ARC read, while it might not have been for me it definitely was a wild ride, I could see a lot of other people loving this book!

We follow along with the main character Linda, who happens to find her second husband, who she believes died, on a dating site. She proceeds to get weird messages and the only person who can help her is Jim, her first husband. I did hate Jim's and Linda's relationship as it just never felt like she loved or even cared for him but I will not say much more as I do not want to spoil this book too much.

I feel like this book lacked some character development as I had a really hard time connecting with the characters or caring what happened to them, with some rework in the beginning I feel like it could completely change this book for the better! The twists and turns seemed to happen a little too fast for me to be able to digest what just happened as another one came along.

Overall, with some editing and more character development I think I could enjoy this book a lot more!

This was my first read from James but most definitely won't be my last.
I was hooked from the first page of this fantastic thriller and was totally emerged in the story until the end...needing to know what happened.

Her character building was on point and did a great job with making a few very unlikable.. I also enjoyed the fact that the characters were an older generation (50's)
which was a nice change of pace.

IIt was a great Rollercoaster of shocking twists and turns and I would definitely recommend it to everyone who enjoys this genre.

Thank you to Netgally and Jane E James for the ARC .

Her Second Husband by Jane E. James is a captivating psychological thriller that keeps the reader guessing until the very end. The protagonist Linda is a relatable character who has lost everything following the death of her husband. Her journey to find love again leads her to a dating site where she comes across someone who appears to be her dead husband.

The plot twists and turns, kept me engaged throughout the story. The character development is well-done.. The theme of betrayal also adds another layer of complexity to the plot, keeping me on edge. Although the descriptive writing was well-done, the book did feel a little drawn-out at times. Overall, Her Second Husband is a gripping novel that is sure to keep you hooked until the very end. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good psychological thriller.

This was great book really enjoyed it.

Linda is a widow whose life has fallen apart following the death of her husband. Linda is lonely estranged from her children, so Linda signs up to a dating site. She gets message from man named Tony Fontaine. Linda recognises this man as her dead husband. Linda doesn’t understand what is going on as she digs deeper she finds out her dead husband had secrets.

Definitely recommend this book had a bit of everything mystery, death and suspense.

We meet Linda, a 50 something widow whose life has fallen apart following the death of her husband. Lonely and almost completely estranged from her children, Linda signs up to a dating site. It’s on this pursuit of connection that she receives a friendly message from a man named Tony Fontaine. Things aren’t as they seem though, and on closer inspection Linda realises that Tony bears a striking resemblance to her dead (yes, DEAD) husband.

This was your typical thriller - complete with exceptional character building and shocking twists. I couldn’t put this down for the first couple of hours of reading. The relationship between Linda and her best friend Gayle was the best part for me. It shone a spotlight on the complexities of female friendship. With a strong theme of betrayal woven into the plot, there were several jaw drop moments. Gayle was a BAD ASS - her character was believable (albeit sometimes annoyingly naive) and I was on her side the whole way through… even if I was forced to question her morality and judgement at some points.

My only criticism - this did feel a little dragged out. James is evidently great at descriptive writing - appealing at first but by the end it did feel a little fluffy.

I will definitely be reading more of this author. Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC.

Sorry but this book wasn't for me, I found it hard to get into the storyline and couldn't gel with the characters.

Thank you to Netgalley and Joffe books for this ARC, just sorry it wasn't to my liking.

Thank you NetGalley and Joffe Books for the eARC.
The very beginning of the book was a bit over the top, written like a cheap popcorn novel, I didn't know what to think. As I got into the story it started to even out into something better. I liked the fact that the main cast of characters was older even though none of them was particularly likeable. A decent read, but nothing exceptional.

Synopsis (from Netgalley, the provider of the book for me to review.)
****************************************************************************************************
An unputdownable psychological thriller with a breathtaking twist. Your husband’s dead. He’s never coming back. So why is he on a dating site asking you to go out with him?
Then
Linda has it all: a gorgeous home, a devoted husband, and two loving daughters. But she throws it all away to chase an impossible dream.
Now
Linda is alone and penniless, living in a shabby rented flat. With nothing to lose, she signs up to a dating app for the over 50s. But the one man who responds to her profile, a man calling himself Tony Fortin, is not who he says he is. But Linda recognizes him immediately. He’s Marcus, her second husband.
But that’s impossible. Marcus died eight months ago. He drowned off the coast of Corfu. As Linda digs deeper, she discovers that the man she married the second time around had been keeping secrets from her. Very dark secrets. Now the one person who can help her is the person who has every reason not to get involved.
Her first husband.

An excellent beach-read type thriller that will entertain for hours as you work through the twisty, delightful mystery at hand. If you decide to take this book to the beach (or back yard, porch) don't forget to reapply your SPF as you will lose track of time. This is a wonderful little thriller to pick up and add to your TBR pile and inhale, maybe with some ice cream as that is what summer is all about.
