From the synopsis I thought I would like this book but I am surprised at how much I liked it. It’s about a small town that used to be thriving metropolis till the mine which brought in people, businesses etc. was no longer viable to work. To try and keep it going for the ones who remained it was, with a lot of work and effort, turned into a kind of living museum type town to attract tourists. However that is now not as viable as it once was. There is a faction in the town who do not want any changes to be made that may help the place to survive. Hazel’s ancestors helped the town become great and, as it became more of a ghost town, her father’s vision helped it become a workable town again. She is fascinated by a bygone era and even dresses in her grandma’s, now vintage, clothes. She is torn between knowing the town needs more to survive and loving it as it is now. She does not want to see its character eroded or historical buildings torn down to be replaced by modern monstrosities. Sena is a very modern hi-tech woman who wants to invest in the town and make it the go-to place for women who are held back in a conservative, male dominated world. So the story relates the trials and tribulations that arise between Hazel and Sena before things can be resolved.

Hazel has lost a lot in her life it’s why she determined to protect history because if she stays in the past she won’t be hurt by it. Sena is a tech wiz who had to fight to prove she just as good as men when she comes Owen Station she wants to bring this town into the future. Hazel fears that the town will forget its history and Sena who doesn’t want that she just want to build something that not only help the town but to give women a chance. Although they both clash they experience sparks that’s scares Hazel because she doesn’t want to change and fear she will lose Sena just like she lost everyone else even though she build found family who wants to see her happy and Sena who once in her life feel more for someone and it’s baffling because she wants her dream and Hazel too. Enjoyable read.

I enjoyed this read. I’m a big fan of the enemies to lovers trope, and I thought this book did it well. There’s were certain aspects with the pacing that I found a little off. I found the main characters interesting, alone with the side characters, and found the banter between characters well written. Overall, I’d recommend giving it a read.

when these two meet one steeped in its history the other wanting to bring it into this century there are fireworks

have to say it was an enjoyable quick read that kept me reading right to the end

I admit that it was difficult for me to enter the story, at first I was confused by the attitude of the protagonists, Haze and Sena and even my friend Knox, but everything was put together and little by little I became interested in what was happening.

The clash between Hazel's closed mind and anchored in the past and Sena's modernity and views towards the future has created a rather interesting story.

Luckily, from the beginning they feel this push and pull that overcomes their differences and they are willing to understand each other. On the way there are some obstacles, from them and from their environment, which are fun to sort out. The background throughout the story is entertaining and has made for an enjoyable reading.
