I honestly thought the book was going to go in a different route. I thought the were gonna find out that Emily and Jake where a thing and put him on the show as a twist. But I also thought this book was a stand alone. But that what I get it she did say she was a twin I should have saw that coming. I didn’t notice until they called about bringing her on the show. But her sister marrying cooper is something else I so need to read that book.

Meh.

Miscommunication is the worst romance trope. Adults who can't have a discussion about what is bothering them should not be in romantic relationships. They probably shouldn't even have friendships. If the only thing keeping you apart is an honest conversation then what's going to happen the next time you disagree or just misunderstand each other? Destined to fail.

Besides this, the pacing felt off, second chance romances are dumb, and the main characters were too inconsistent to nurture any connection.

I may be in the minority here - there are a lot of gushing reviews, but there was just too much going on here for me to feel anything other than meh.

3.5/5 stars! I love a good "second chance" romance, so I had high hopes going into this story. I struggle with rating this story because it had so much potential. I love books set in reality tv settings and the premise sounded fun. But the main characters were very 2-dimensional. The FMC was whiny and just refused to ask clarifying questions and the MMC was just a grumbly bland dude. WIth better character chemistry this book would have been a winter.

If you’re into The Bachelor but wish it had more drama and an ex thrown into the mix, this is for you. Emily is a small-town girl who suddenly becomes the lead on a dating reality show after her mom goes viral, and—surprise—her ex, Jake, is the producer. Talk about awkward. They clearly have unfinished business, and the tension between them is so real you could cut it with a knife.

The slow-burn romance is everything, and I loved seeing both Emily and Jake’s points of view. The behind-the-scenes of the dating show adds some fun drama, too. If you like second chances and a little revenge on the side, this one’s got you covered.

This book was written for you if:
1. You love the forced proximity and exes-to-lovers tropes.
2. You’re into reality TV-inspired chaos.
3. You want something steamy with plenty of heart.

I'm not typically a Bachelor/Bachelorette kind of person, but I find that I enjoy that sort of thing more in literature. For that reason, I thought this book sounded like it would be a fun read. I did largely enjoy it. It was a light read, good as fluff between heavier reads. The biggest issue for me was how heavily it banked on miscommunication. While it's one of my least favorite tropes, I understand that a lot of romance banks on at least some of it. But for this one I felt like it was so heavily involved and it just became a bit much for me. Solid 3 stars because I'm pretty sure my issues were more a me thing than a book thing and I'll still recommend it to others.

I lucked out with this one, that's for sure!

Dating shows and finding love in front of millions of people sounds to me a complete nightmare. While reading the synopsis I wasn't sure whether I will like the story -as the aforementioned dating show element is far-far away from my taste - but all the positive and encouraging reviews made me give it a try.
Did I regret it?
No,I don't think I did.
There were a ton of surprises. I was definitely not expecting the writing style and the author's narrative to be this good. With - to me at least - unknown writers here, you mostly just go with the flow for the sake of the story or because you don't want to let down the author if they provided a free copy of their book to you. So, the better the writer, the harder it is to get an ARC copy to review. With as many reviewers as there are, getting lucky and finding a hidden gem is rare.

I loved the enemies to lovers aspect as this is one of my favourite tropes. I knew there was something bigger behind the scenes for Jake, and I suggest everyone checks the possible TWs. Did I love the miscommunication and sometimes childish stubborness the leads showed? No.
Did it ruin my reading experience? Also no. Do I wish the conflict resolution happened via honesty and communication? Yeah, a bit,

But for a never read author to have this much love towards her after finishing a book is quite the accomplishment!

Actually 3.5⭐️

While I really liked the plot and writing style of this book, there was one glaring issue for me. The miscommunication. Miscommunication in books/movies is something I cannot stand, which is why I did not rate this higher.

Confession time: I hate reality dating shows SO MUCH. I honestly expected to hate this book for that if nothing else. Nope, can't hate it. The writing and plotting are solid, the romance feels real, and the twists and turns were, well, suitably twisty and turny. More, please!

The Love Rematch by Kay Marie is a heartwarming and clever romance that explores second chances and unexpected connections. The story follows two former lovers who, after a painful breakup, find themselves facing off in a high-stakes charity event. The chemistry between them is undeniable, but both have baggage to unpack before they can consider rekindling their relationship. With sharp dialogue, relatable characters, and a perfect balance of humor and emotional depth, Marie crafts a compelling tale of healing and rediscovery. A perfect read for anyone who believes in the power of love to bring people back together.

Finally got around to reading this book during my 10 days of beach reads and it just wasn’t it. It felt somewhat juvenile? And very bachelor-coded.

The plot was just real thin. It felt like we coasted for forever on this silly lil storyline until the very end where all these random problems came out of the woodwork. I wish those plot lines had built over the course of the book instead of it all crashing together in the third act.

Still it was entertaining-ish, but I wouldn’t recommend, even after a few cocktails on the beach.

The Love Rematch is a fun and chaotic second-chance romance set against the backdrop of a reality dating show. Emily, after an embarrassing viral moment caused by her well-meaning mother, ends up as the lead on The Love Match, where 30 men are vying for her heart. The twist? One of the show's producers is Jake—her ex-boyfriend, who left her seven years ago without a word. Now, they’re forced to work together while he watches her date other men.

Emily and Jake’s chemistry is undeniable, with the perfect blend of angst, unresolved feelings, and playful sabotage. Their journey from frustration to rekindled affection was engaging, especially amidst the wild antics of the show. The book also touches on deeper issues, adding emotional depth to the story.

With a HEA and plenty of laughs, The Love Rematch is an enjoyable read for fans of second-chance romances.

It would be a great option for anyone who loved One to Watch. I felt the very same reality dating vibes!

Kay Marie's The Love Rematch is a delightful blend of humor, heartache, and second-chance romance. The story follows Emily, a woman thrown into the spotlight as the lead of a popular dating show, only to find herself face-to-face with her ex-boyfriend, Jake, who's now the show's producer.

Marie expertly navigates the complexities of their relationship, exploring themes of forgiveness, trust, and the enduring power of love. The characters are well-developed and relatable, and their chemistry is undeniable. The author's witty dialogue and engaging storytelling keep the pace moving, making it hard to put the book down.

While the plot sometimes may feel predictable, the emotional depth and satisfying conclusion make The Love Rematch a worthwhile read. Fans of romantic comedies and second-chance romances will appreciate this heartwarming tale of love, loss, and the possibility of finding your way back to each other.

I've tried to get into this book many times since I received this ARC but I just can't get into it. Unfortunately, it just felt very gimmicky. I had to DNF after giving it a few tries since it came out.

First of all, I’d like to thank NetGalley and the author for providing me with a free e-arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I liked this book quite a lot as it had a different setting which I hadn’t read before! It was very intriguing and I liked the characters quite a lot! It’s probably one of the only second-chance books I’ve ever liked and has quite changed my mind on them. The story was not so predictable and well-written! So I do totally recommend this book!

I think it’s safe to say that people, including myself, love watching reality dating shows, no matter what they are. I absolutely loved this. It was so much fun to get into the characters heads and I adored our leading lady. Throughly enjoyed this one!!

Thanks to the author for an eARC of this book via NetGalley - these are my honest thoughts.

I really liked the premise of The Love Rematch and was sucked in from the very beginning. Emily and Jake are exes who randomly meet seven years later on the set of a reality tv show where Emily is the lead trying to find love, and Jake is the producer herding her gaggle of men around for weeks on end. He gets the pleasure of watching her date other men, kiss other men, etc. But at the same time, Em and Jake seem to be rekindling their old flame in the dark of the night or on secret adventures. Their second chance is reminiscent of their first, with memories as ghosts within the pages of the story. I really enjoyed that.

In the end, this book was good... I ended up skimming about 50% of the way through, as there was just... a lot of the same internal thoughts over and over again.

Near the 80% mark, I was only reading dialogue. There were some grand gestures, and then there was some drama revealed, and then there was another grand gesture, and more drama, and gesture, and drama.... it was a little too much for me at the end of the book. The secrets were pretty obvious (Jake) and hinted at (Em) throughout the book...

Then the twist at the end? Kinda fun... but I probably won't read book two, unfortunately. This just wasn't fully my cup of tea.

Second chance romance with a great fast paced plot. Love the dual pov and wittiness. Emily was a sweet character that it was easy to have a connection too! Angsty galore, which was exactly was I needed.

I really enjoy books centring the reality TV trope, especially when the shows are similar to The Bachelor. I really liked Emily as a main character and was glad that she got her happy ending. I felt like Jake was a little underdeveloped as a character and as such I didn’t care for their relationship as much as I would have liked to. Overall, it was an easy and fun read.

A producer under a new identity, but a love that left her without even a goodbye 7 years earlier.

The love you feel between them and the flashbacks of the memories they shared in high school. Sneaking around behind cast members and shared glances across set. The sister/twin who’s her biggest defender and 30 men competing for her love on reality TV. It’s cute. It’s love. It’s routing for a second chance while not wanting to risk his career. It’s miscommunication and insecurities brought to the surface.

Read the book.
