4.5 ⭐️

If you’re a fan of shows like the Bachelorette or Love Island you’ll love this!!

I DEVOURED this book in a day! It was such an easy read that I couldn’t put down. It follows Emily whose mother decides to go on national television to try find her a boyfriend, which leads to her landing the leading role in “The Love Rematch” show.
Emily soon discovers someone from her past is one of the producers of the show and it all takes off from there.

Thank you to the publisher and netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

WOW. An amazing 4.5 star read. JUST WOW.
I think I have finally found the only book written in third person that I love. Im going to be honest, I don't love books written in third person. I find it hard to connect to the characters and tend to lose interest quickly. BUT THIS BOOK? THIS BOOK IS DIFFERENT. THIS BOOK IS GOOD. THIS BOOK IS AMAZING. I was hooked in from the very beginning. I devoured this book, I simply could not put it down.

This book was a perfect mix of the bachelorette and second chance romances. It kept me hooked till the very end. I just had to know what happened between Em and Jake!!!!!! Let me just say, the reveals had be sobbing!! I can't even remember how many times this book made me sob, but in the best way possible, it was so good 😭 i'm really a sucker for second chance romance.

I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for an incredible second chance romance book, it'll have you hooked till the very end!

I really liked it.... very reminiscent of The True Love Experiment by Christina Lauren with the reality show aspect but add some darker elements at the end.

I spent a good 10 days reading this book, which is annoying because I had SUCH a fun time! I just had such a busy life this past week unfortunately.
Anyway, I was sent this book early to read and review so please read below for my thoughts! The Love Rematch releases in October!

I LOVED both of the love interests. There was something weirdly enticing about Jake that I just loved? I can’t say I felt this straight away, but he definitely grew on me.
And Emily was fun too! But she was slightly boring and didn’t have much about her in my opinion.
I LOVED SAM, Emily’s twin sister. She was hilarious and fun and chaotic and we needed that.
Nina I despised lol
The 30 or so other men that were involved in the show, I’m glad we didn’t get properly introduced to them all because girl, I’d have lost count!
I particularly enjoyed Cooper, of course.

I liked the writing style, I think this was an excellent novel from Kay and it was written in a way that felt both familiar and fresh.
The whole storyline was unique, to me. The Batchelor style where it’s similar to The Hating Game!
Honestly I generally had a fun time reading this. The only things that weren’t for me was the slow start, I enjoyed the second half more, and the slightly boring FMC

I really enjoyed this! I happen to LOVE the Bachelor. Its one of my favorite guilty pleasure shows, and I think this did a pretty good job of showing the nuances of those relationships (romance for romance, TV for raising your influence, friendships disguised as romance, and so on and so forth). I also really enjoy a second chance romance trope, and this did a great job of highlighting that and using some flash back discussions to show what happened to tear the two leads apart. The 'twist' to get to the HEA was also very cute!

The Love Rematch by Kay Marie
FIVE STARS

I haven't seen an episode of The Bachelor in just about forever but if you like that show you'll enjoy this book. The behind the scenes are exactly how I imagine they'd be.

Seven years ago Emily has her heart broken by her high school sweetheart who slips away in the middle of the night to never be heard from, by her, again. They knew there was an end date with her going to NY for college and him heading to CA to chase his dreams of show business but that doesn't make it hurt any less. She really thought they'd make a go of it and it would end up working out. Now, 7 years later, her mother is on National TV spilling secrets about the next lead of The Love Match and claiming Emily would be the next best star of the show! In utter chaos Emily is cast as the next leading lady and is about to meet 32 men who want to try and win her heart. Can you guess? No, her ex isn't one of the 32 but he is the producer in charge of the 32. He never wanted to leave her so how is he going to live with her dating all these men trying to find her perfect match?

I really enjoyed this second chance romance. It was fun and entertaining. I laughed and I cried. I'm extremely interested in book 2 because I need some dang answers!

Thank you to NetGalley and Kay Marie for the opportunity to read and review this book. Make sure you add it to your TBR for its Oct 16th release. You will not be sorry!

Spice: 3; one descriptive scene
Sexy Times: 3; this was a slow burn but coupled with the knowledge that they had been together in the past. There was definite chemistry between them.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC of this very enjoyable romance. Emily and Jake were high school sweethearts but right before they left for college, after planning to be together forever, Jake disappeared from Emily’s life with no word, leaving her heartbroken. Fast forward seven years and Emily is now on a version of The Bachelorette and Jake is one of the producers.

This was my first book by Marie and I liked her writing style quite a bit. Her character development was good and I found the characters believable. This was a dual POV story; I like reading both dual and single POV, but sometimes in a dual POV it is hard to maintain the “secrets” and the big reveal isn’t always that surprising but Marie really pulled it off with this one! The premise was a little extraordinary but it worked and it was an interesting twist. I think the only thing that bothered me was the epilogue and how things were really going to get ironed out, but I don’t want to say much and spoil anything!

I’m looking forward to the second book in the series, which will feature EMily’s twin, Sam. I’m already chuckling at what I think might be the premise.

Definitely put this one on your TBR for when it comes out in October!

It’s giving: The True Love Experiment (but just different enough to still be its own story). Some differences: Second chance love, her friends all hate him, etc.

This was one of the rare instances in which the miscommunication trope is utilized pretty well - because they’re basically kids when it happens, and teenagers quite literally are not fully mentally developed enough to have continuously rational communication skills 😂 SO I WILL ALLOW IT (and so should you!!!)

I love a good kick-in-the-stomach kind of emotional punch, and this delivers. Like if your writing can make me want to actually sob (even just one little sob), it’s a win for me. We love a good cry onto our waterproof kindle screen.

This book had me sucked in from the start. It was fast paced, had some then and now scenes throughout, and dual POV (which I always love)! I really liked Emily as a character and what spurred this whole situation (her mom lol). I also began to really like her sister Sam and their relationship/balance. I couldn’t help but feel sympathy for Emily for the situation and from little clues we get along the plot of an underlying sad past event. I liked jake and felt bad for him for the things he went through in his childhood, but at times I was annoyed with him a little. He continuously used his father as an excuse for his own actions and I got a little tired of it at times. I just wanted him to grow up and start acting like his own person. I was happy when this did finally happen but wish it didn’t take quite as long. I do think that Jake and Emily were meant to find each other again and did love them together. I think they needed some time to come into themselves to be ready for a relationship again after what they went through.

There are some underlying topics that are talked about that might be sensitive for some people. The author does such a good job of going about these situations and talking about them in a way that is very appropriate while still keeping the reader interested. We are able to see the emotional mental, and sometimes even physical tolls that these events /topics had on the two main characters. This brought another level to the book that was very appreciated.

I really liked how full circle the book was and how it wasn’t just a surface level relationship. I read this all in the one because I was so into the book and had to know what was going to happen next! I am so so so excited about the next book in this series of sorts and overall loved this book.

I've already been talking this book up with my co works at the library. I don't watch reality shows, such as the Bachelor which this a spoof of, but I was sucked in. I started reading and by the time I took my first break I was already a fourth of the way through the story. I really liked Emily and her sister's banter and then how Jake is just boggled.

I loved the plot, especially the beginning which was also really good fun. And the romance was super sweet. It’s was so important to the story to get both of the MCs POV. Although I would have loved to get more flashback from the beginning of their love story in Highschool. The way they reconnect was so really special and the end especially was awesome (even with all the confessions).

✨Big thank you to Kaitlyn Davis and Netgalley for giving me a chance to read and review this ARC prior to its release in exchange for an honest review!✨

Ugh, this book…it was everything I needed! It was fluffy, it had angst and it didn’t even matter that it wasn’t heavy on the spicy like a lot of the other romance novels I tend to read. You easily fell in love with all the characters and rooted for Emily and Jake to finally get there happily ever after. I’ve been really into second chance romance recently and this book ticked all the boxes! Rest assured, this is another ARC that I’ll be purchasing a physical copy of too and I am beyond hyped for the sequel already, though I won’t say too much for those who are yet to read this book when it’s released later this year. If I could sum this up, it feels like a warm hug, at least that’s the feeling I got every time I read a little more. I’m not usually a fan of prime time reality romance shows but I really enjoyed that aspect of this book and just how false what you see really is.

If you’re looking for a romance that will give you all the feels and make you laugh out loud, with two strong main characters and side characters that you cannot wait to see more of, keep an eye out for this one in October! I guarantee, you won’t be disappointed!

I absolutely devoured The Love Rematch. Like, within 12 hours devoured. It would have been a one-sit book if I hadn't started it before I got on a plane. The set-up is ridiculous: Emily wakes up one morning to her mother managing to attract the attention of morning show hosts in New York (one of whom is named Matthew Starhan, which, lol) with a sign begging people to date her daughter. And it works, sort of. The producers of the hit reality show The Love Match are in desperate need for a new lead, and there's no harm in jumping on the viral bandwagon, right?

Unless you are Jake, one of the producers in charge of the male talent, and ex-boyfriend of Emily. After leaving her in the middle of the night 7 years ago. And now, here they are, forced to work together, except that working together means Jake is watching Emily date 30 male contestants.

I really loved Emily and Jake. Although I generally don't like second chance stories where the characters haven't been able to get over their exes for years, I liked the spark between them that went from "I am so mad at you" to "I am sabotaging your place on this show, but just a little" to "we should probably be civil" to "oops, being civil means I like you now." The story, along with all of the hijinks of a reality dating show, has major chaotic good energy, which I enjoy.

This story also deals with some heavy topics (content warnings for cancer (past) and domestic violence (past) -- I do think the description would benefit from including content warnings), and the last third-ish of the book are an emotional roller coaster. I cried quite a bit at the end while I was in a literal glass case (or metal box hurtling through the sky) of emotions. It does have a HEA and is a romance; it just comes with a lot of feelings.

Thank you to NetGalley and the author for providing me with an eARC of The Love Rematch in exchange for my honest review.

This book was very interesting because of the unique premise. It’s not often you read a reality show second chance romance and I loved the fresh take. I usually love second chance romances and this was a good one. It was fast paced and never boring. I loved the dual point of view in this book because we learned a lot from the relationship that way and it kept you on the toes. The main characters Emily and Jake were flawed yet perfect. They had been through a lot trauma and worked on that. Still I loved how Emily was portrayed very strong and always being herself.
One thing I had a little bit of a problem with was that Emily and Jake wouldn’t speak to each other for a long time. And then when they did talk they didn’t talk about the past or what happened so it felt like it dragged out a little.

This book is getting a sequel about Sam and Copper and I will definitely read that! I loved Sam in this book and can’t wait to read more about her.

I loved this so much I read it in one evening!

Emily is so hung up on her high school boyfriend that she’s still single seven years later. And her mom goes on national tv to campaign for her to become the next lead in a Bachelorette-type of dating reality show. Much to everyone, and especially Emily’s, surprise, she gets the call to start filming. On her first night, getting dressed and coiffed to prepare to meet her 30 suitors, she recognizes one of the producers outside: it’s her ex, Jake, who she hasn’t seen since he left in the middle of the night the summer after their senior year of high school.

It’s delicious. Absolutely delicious! Emily never knew why Jake left and thus blamed herself and never really got over it. Jake took the whole “she’s too good for me and deserves better” mindset that made him leave and also never got over her. Forced proximity, pining, a whole lotta angst, maaaaajor slow burn? Yes, please! Sign me right up!

The narrative switches between Emily and Jake so you always (mostly) know what’s up. It also flashes back to their high school relationship, how they met and how they grew as a couple, while telling their present day story. The flash backs sort of annoyed me because, yes it’s cute hearing how much they loved each other when they were kids, but I’m more interested in their drama in the present.

The ending felt rushed and almost incomplete, like it left out a LOT of details (that I really wanted to know!).

4.5 stars, rounded up, only because I hate the whole “she deserves better than me” sad-sack attitude from men. Already can’t wait for the next one, I’m dying to hear Sam’s side of the story!

Omg, all the feels, like I loved the book, is cute and fun without falling into annoying things that normally get into rom com, love the second chance story and the two MC . This was super good and now I need the next one please

3.5
I will allow for the possibility that my expectations are misplaced, but I would have been so much happier if these characters had met just a few years later. As it stands, I'm reading about the deep love and personal sacrifices these 17 year olds made for one another and I just keep thinking: Have you met a 17 year old? I could barely tie my shoes much less have whole ass emotional epiphanies. I mean, I can still barely tie my shoes, to be fair.

Emily Peters possibly has the most embarrassing mom of all time. Her mom is spotted on national TV with a sign advertising her daughter’s singleness, and when the clip goes viral Emily finds herself swept off to Hollywood to become the new lead of a popular dating show, The Love Match. But her quest to find love comes to a screeching halt when she meets her new producer Jake—who just so happens to be her ex-boyfriend who broke her heart years ago. Determined to get some revenge, Emily dives into the show and tries to decide who of the thirty contestants could be her perfect match. But the more time she is forced to spend with Jake, the more she remembers what she loved about him, and the two are forced to confront why their relationship ended.

Thank you so much @netgalley and @kaymariebooks for the advance copy! This book was so cute and I really enjoyed it! Emily’s character is so lovable. The plot was fast paced and really exciting—think The Bachelor but trying to make your ex jealous while also still unpacking feelings. This was such a sweet second chance romance and I loved the dual point of view. The dialogue was sharp and fun, and the characters were really well developed. I definitely recommend this book and am very exited for book 2!
