ARC REVIEW

thank you to netgalley for the opportunity of this arc!

Really enjoyed this story, it was a quick and easy read! I enjoyed the reality TV show aspect that was shown in this, kept me hooked with what was going to happen next!
There were some heavier topics in this but I feel the author handled them really well!

If you are a fan of second chance romance and dual POV, you'll enjoy this!

I loved this journey so, so much. The dating show aspect just scratches such an itch and I love a second chance romance. I really liked Emily as a FMC and Jake too but I’m hoping for a Sam spinoff because we love a sassy sister.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this arc ebook in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.

This book is kind of like the bachelor, just with more romcom/fun vibes. I really did enjoy some parts of this book, but I felt like there were so many red flags from some of the characters that just didn't sit well for me and it kind of felt strange? I don't want to say unrealistic, because it is fiction, but it was just something that I wouldn't encourage or vibe well with were it real and it ruined it a bit for me. Overall was a quick read if you can get past some of the things that put the book off for me.

Thank you to Author Kay Marie and Netgalley for providing me with this ARC. This book was a ton of fun, and all opinions shared are my own.

Although I don't watch much reality TV, for many years the Bachelor franchise was my guilty pleasure. This funny book included so many of the escapades and star personalities from past seasons and emalgamated them as part of the behind the scenes perspective of show 'The Love Match'.

Whether you love romance, scandal, to be shocked or to get your HEA, this is the book for you! I love a first and forever love type of romance, and although Jake and Emily have been apart for 7 years, the way they slowly find their way back to one another was heart warming. Witnessing Emily as the star vs Jake as a member of the crew made for several high risk moments and I was all for it!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and knowing that Sam, Emily's identical twin, will start as FMC in book 2 of the series has me waiting in suspense! I can't wait to read her love story with a character who also starred in this book 💕

the first part is really exciting, it was like the show Unreal (which is already about the Bachelor) but as a romcom. unfortunately Jake was too passive and sad and guilty to really be an interesting love interest, and too many flashbacks. 🚨now let's see this book's 3 red flags :

🚩 called an Hispanic character "Margarita Gonzalez" 🤨🤨🤨 be ffr

🚩 "what they say about the French is true. He's a lover not a fighter" 🥖 dis ça encore une fois on va voir c'est qui le fighter 🥐

🚩 he left her without a word in the worst time of her life, they weren't in contact for 7 YEARS and you're telling me that only one month after meeting again they're engaged!?!??!?!?!! pleeeaase get some common sense baby girl

Emily finds herself as the lead on a TV dating show (think the Bachelorette) after her mum goes on breakfast TV begging America to find her daughter a boyfriend. It’s not until she gets to the show that she finds out that one of the producers is Jake, the boy who broke her heart when he left her without a word just as they had finished high school. She’s determined to get revenge on him by showing him how happy she can be without him (and launching her jewellery brand by wearing it on the show) and he’s trying to get a promotion. But it’s a romance novel so of course they’re not as over each other as they think they are. I really enjoyed this – although it took a bit of a surprising turn at the end, which I think needed more time to work out, and the epilogue wasn’t really an epilogue – more of a final chapter just set a year later. But I read it in a couple of days once I really got into it and it was fun.

Reality tv, enemies to lovers, and second chance romance combine in this fun romantic comedy!
The Love Rematch is set on a dating show where the FMC, Emily, is the lead looking for a fiancé and the MMC, Jake, is one of the producers on the show. They were high school sweethearts but broke up seven years ago and we learn why in a series of flashbacks. Not sure if I'm a fan of the flashbacks in this, but the book was a quick and fun read with some good laughs in. The characterisation could have used a bit of work as I don't feel like I ever connected with Emily's character. Second chance romance also doesn't tend to be my thing so, although I thought this was fun, I'm not sure how invested I was in the romance. But overall, there were some goods laughs in it and I enjoyed it!

I loved that this book gave us dual POVs from both Emily and Jake. This always adds a great element to the classic romcom. If you are a fan of Bachelor Nation, this is the book for you. It is a second-chance romance with a hint of revenge. Filled with tension, angst, and spice, this book is sure to satisfy your "Bachelor" romcom cravings. I can't wait for Sam and Cooper's story!

This was so fun! I haven’t been reading a lot while traveling but I devoured this book despite being busy because it was just what I needed. I’m a fan of the Bachelor franchise because what can I say, I love the drama. And this book delivered on that behind-the-scenes Bachelorette drama while pulling off a great second-chance romance. I tend to be wary of second-chance romances because often there’s a reason they broke up to begin with (or the opposite—no reason to have broken up at all), but this story walked the fine line of having a good reason for them to have broken up and still be right for each other.

My only criticism is that I wanted more of the premise! We didn’t really get to know any of the contestants and I think the story would have benefitted from Jake having some real competition. Instead, it was clear Emily’s heart wasn’t at all in the show to begin with so there was no doubt Jake had it in the bag, and as a result his unfounded agonizing over the cowboy didn’t add the necessary tension. Also the twin swap hijinks at the end could’ve been super fun but instead were totally brushed over. If you want to include things like that, go all in!

Overall, had so much fun and I’m looking forward to Sam’s story!

I adore this book and would change nothing. The bachelorette/reality tv trope is one I love and this book executed it so well! I could feel the tension between Jake and Emily throughout the entire book and I loved the flashbacks that really added to the depth. The ending finished in a way I didn’t fully expect and I loved the setup for the next book. This is a much read for a cute and fun romcom!

Truthfully, I hate reality dating shows. All my life, I’ve found the concept of following along each week to see people go on “dates” knowing deep down it’s all fake just didn’t appeal to me. So why, might you ask, did I want to read about a main character going onto one? Well, because the idea of getting out on a show like this while your ex you haven’t gotten over produces the show amused me. And how amusing and engaging this story was.

Jake and Emily managed to fill every single one of their moments on page with tension and longing from exes that I feel so often lacks in second chance romances. It’s one thing to tell me that someone still loves their person, it’s another to show me. And this book, it showed. Every moment of struggle to just have it all out with one another was there and it’s embarrassing the moments I wanted to just turn my kindle off because I was overwhelmed with emotions.

The book was less spicer than I anticipated, but that could be me just forgetting that it was more of a closed door romance. However, even if it not being all out there on the page, there were still the blush moments when reading the parts leading up to the deed.

Cute book, fun forced proximity, and a lot of emotions. Honestly, so many emotions. I enjoyed it immensely.

If I had to pick moments that I was less than thrilled with, it would have to be the feeling as we neared the end. So much was going on and it felt like one page after another, a bomb was being dropped. Too much conflict/issues made it hard to follow along with who still had outstanding secrets.

Now, overall, what really won me over on the book was the ending (cliche, I know) and I have to know all about Sam and Cooper.

Thank you for allowing me to read an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review and I shall be waiting here for the next one. 🖤

Emily is mortified when she sees her mom on national television, claiming her daughter can't find love. That’s how she finds herself the new lead of The Love Match, a reality tv where 30 gorgeous men will compete for her love. Too bad the only one she really wants is her ex, her childhood sweetheart who left her and broke her heart seven years ago. He’s not part of the show but he’s actually in the producer team, monitoring all her suitors.

I recently read The True Love Experiments and although the story is kinda similar, I find The Love Rematch much more endearing. Who doesn’t love a great second chance romance ? Who doesn’t love two childhood sweethearts pining for each other for 7 years ???

Even though there’s some spice (definitely chemistry), it’s a close door romance. With the longing and the pent-up hurt and love, it didn’t really bother me while reading but I would have liked this book even more as an open door. Just saying.
That’s really my only criticism to be honest.

I seriously can’t wait for book two, where we will see Sam (Emily’s twin) and Cooper (hello cowboy) falling in love.

I got this book thanks to Netgalley and this is my honest opinion !

This was a great concept and excellent execution!

I really enjoyed the way the novel was set up and thought it was a good mix between the present and past. The romance was very sweet.

I will definitely recommend this book and am excited for the next book in the series!

This is a very angsty, very emotional, very dramatic, yet sweet contemporary romance. I typically do not read a lot of rom coms, contemporary romance, or women’s fiction, but the premise of this second-chance, high school sweetheart reunion set against a bachelor-esque game show grabbed my attention.

The MMC is a producer of the reality dating show and the FMC is the lead “bachelorette” and surprise, they’re ex high school sweethearts forced to be around each other for the duration of making the “reality” show after 7 years of no contact. This book combined my love for reality TV with a peek behind the curtain of how the “magic” is made. Plus I think I’m kind of a softie for 2nd chance romances, so I was really into that aspect.

Here’s what we get:
• Dual POV
• Forced proximity
• Second chance romance
• Angst, yearning, heartbreak
• Slow burn
• Forbidden romance
• “I’m no good for her”
• Revenge for a broken heart

The cover made me think I was getting more rom-com so I was surprised at how much heartbreak and will-they/won’t-they this book had. I was hooked at finding out the numerous “whys” - why Jake left Emily without a word 7 years ago, why did Emily have a big dark secret she refused to share, why do both Emily and Jake not see how much the other person loves them so much, and why are they so stuck in their own insecurities that they’re refusing to grab love when it’s right in front of there face?

That said, it’s not all dark and angsty. These two are so sexually attracted to each other, and the forbidden romance aspect between show producer/reality TV show lead amp up the heat. There is not a lot of spice though it kind of builds at the end.

I liked how the tense would switch between past and present depending on if Emily or Jake were reliving memories or living current day. Though I’m discovering 3rd person present-tense is not my favorite type of narration. I’m usually not a fan of flashbacks but the way it was used in this book in short bursts was well done and pretty compelling.

Though this book took longer than I’d prefer for Emily and Jake to get their acts together, I enjoyed it. I am SO excited to read the second book of this series, featuring Emily’s twin, Sam & a contestant from the bachelorette-reality show.
If you like contemporary romance, rom-coms, second chance, and angsty slow burn this is definitely for you.

I couldn't pass up The Love Rematch. Kay Marie has collected in this book everything that I love so much. Thanks to NetGalley and Kay Marie for the Arc.

If you're a fan of The Bachelor/Bachelorette, you definitely need to read The Love Rematch.

I didn't expect this book to give me so many emotions. Towards the end of the book, the real American races began. I couldn't stop crying and worrying about the characters.

7 years have passed since Emily's first love left her, unexpectedly leaving. She still cannot heal her wounds and broken heart. One morning, she sees her mother on national television, practically begging to find her a boyfriend. Now Emily is the main character of the show “The Love Match”. She is ready to change her life and try to find her love. But she doesn't expect to meet her ex there. Jake is the producer in charge of finding Emily a groom by the end of the season. After a difficult breakup, they are not ready to meet each other again, but they have no choice. Now they need to maintain a professional relationship and try to hide their past together. But things spiral out of control when they realize they still have feelings for each other.

I couldn't tear myself away from this book. I was so worried about the hero, I was hurt because they were unhappy. What everyone went through broke my heart. Kay Marie brings up a lot of important topics in this book. You will empathize with the characters from the beginning to the end of the book.

I also liked the relationship between Sam and Emily. They are support and support for each other. I'm looking forward to Sam's book.

I really enjoyed this second chance romance from Kay Marie. I’m a sucker for reality television and this book reminded me so much of The Bachelorette and I couldn’t get enough. I definitely look forward to the second book in the series!

I loved this book! It was funny, quick and easy to read. Great for lovers of The Bachelorette!

I would have liked to have seen more interactions with the contestants. Maybe a few more dates?

And maybe get a little creative with the dates? Some of them felt just like Hannah Brown’s season.

I really enjoy it and the pacing. I’d recommend this book to others to read.

This really was such a cute and fun love story. Second chance love? Check. Dual POV? Check. Witty banter? Check. I loved both Emily and Jake and can’t wait to read Sam and Cooper’s story when their book comes out. If you want a fast paced, fun read full of all the fluffy moments romance books can bring, this is the book for you.
