Unfortunately this one didn't work for me. It was slower paced and just didn't grab my attention.
While not for me, I do think that the writing was great and would be a good book for those who like a slow burn,

Thank you NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for the ALC in exchange for my honest review!

I loved listening to Karissa Vacker narrate, The Golden Couple by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen. I was really intrigued by the synopsis of this book, and Vacker being the narrator really drew me in.
Night Will Find You really had me guessing. This is the first book I've read by Julia Heaberlin, and it did not disappoint! I was really entertained by this one and enjoyed the Texas references as I lived in TX for 3 years. I will definitely look for more books by the author.

I was very impressed by the expert pacing, which kept me eagerly listening through chapters long into the night. Heaberlin has a knack for building tension and intrigue, keeping me on the edge of my seat. Oh my, I really liked this one.
While this did have a bit of a paranormal element to it, it blends really well with the mystery surrounding the overall plot.
The characters had their issues but I found I didn’t want to write them off as unlikeable. I think this helped to normalize their behaviors amidst all the drama. I did find some of the narrative a bit unbelievable but I’ve seen crazier things so I’ll let it slide.
It’s a great read, easy to follow with enough twists to keep you captivated.

This audiobook narrator did a beautiful job voicing this captivating tale. I enjoyed listening to this book at night because the narrator's voice was so lovely and peaceful, even though the story was suspenseful! This is a book that definitely should be experienced on audio! It starts off as a bit of a slow burn, but asks interesting questions about science, mysticism, and the world in general. A unique and lovely read!

Wow! This was my first Julia Heaberlin read and now I want to go back and read everything she has ever written! This book was such a great thriller! I loved everything about it except for the fact that it had me a little spooked at bedtime.

I highly recommend this one for any fan of paranormal mystery/crime thriller genre.

This book was entertaining, and an easy listen in the end. At first the narrator seemed to have a very airy voice that wasn't going to fit Vivvy, but in the end, as more emotion was portrayed the fit was great. I found Vivvy somewhat annoying, especially all her side movements. There is lots of inner turmoil with Vivvy, but very little work on the original case she was brought in for. Parts were vaguely explained, seeming to leave the book open for a sequel, but I am not totally sure.

I want to thank Netgalley and Macmillan Audio for an advanced listening copy of this book.

Thank you to NetGalley and the author for the gifted audiobook. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

1. 𝑷𝒔𝒚𝒄𝒉𝒊𝒄 𝑨𝒃𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒆𝒔 - The combination of Vivvy’s intelligence and psychic powers actually makes the supernatural aspects easier to believe. Even though she has been tortured with her ability, she remains strong and determined.

2. 𝑺𝒖𝒓𝒑𝒓𝒊𝒔𝒆𝒔 - Even time I turned around, there was a new twist coming out of the woodworks for me!

Night Will Find You by Julia Heaberlin is a mystery thriller that packs a lot into a short book. Maybe a little too much.

Before I get into the story itself I just want to say that Karissa Vacker shows an impressive range of voice and really nails the narration of the audiobook.

The story centers around Vivvy Bouchet who has a level of physic ability but has left home and perused a career in astrophysics instead. This makes for an interesting character that has a desire to root herself in science but knows there is more out there.

She is called home to help solve a cold case of a kidnapped girl, and all aspects of her past are piling up on her.

This story has a lot going on, Vivvy trying to keep her physic abilities off the radar of her scientific colleagues, a skeptical and distrustful cop, a complicated family situation, awkward love triangle, hell in true Texas still there a clear Alex Jones analogue spouting off conspiracy theories.

While I enjoyed the story I think it branches into the trap of too many twist. Not everything needs to be a surprise to the reader. There were times where the pacing got a little off track as well.

The prose is great though, and the dialogue feels believable. I’d go as far to call the story atmospheric.

I’d read another work from this author, and definitely am going to see what other books this narrator tackles.

Big thanks to Netgalley and Macmillan Audio for providing me with a chance to get in on this book early. I received this book for free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review

Julia did it again- this was an edge of your seat, intriguing thriller I couldn't get enough of.

The character dynamics perfectly gelled with the storyline, and OH THE ANGST!! Such a creative and immersive plot, which was only enhanced by the narration by Karissa Vacker- especially with the irritating podcaster - IT WAS PERFECTION. I can still hear his voice in my head and feel the rush of anger those chapters brought me.

Highly recommend the audio of this one, but either way- I'm a Julia Heaberlin fan 4LYFE!

“Science is fickle about who it loves. The loudest most determined voice is the one that is believed, that attracts the money even in the heady world of research and phd’s. I still don’t read published papers without the initial assumption that there could either be bias or data twisted to suit a theory. Guilty until proven brilliant. Because someone always has a stake.” ‼️‼️

Alrighty shall I just turn my page into a Karissa Vacker fan page? It seems so at this point. I was gifted this audiobook because of my love of her narration and here she goes again, proving why.

It is in her voice and the distinct tones she uses to differentiate characters, making them seem real. I don’t know how she does it but sometimes I forget that there is just one narrator. She brings the characters to life and, more often than not, I finish the audiobook feeling as if I’ve just watched a movie.

This book would have been great even if I read it with my eyes. Vivvy Bouchet saved a boys life at the age of ten with her prediction. Ever since she has been in a life long battle between the science she loves and the voices in her head. I loved Vivvy with her brilliant mind and the sixth sense that she trusts despite the ramifications of that. This was a great mystery that held my interest throughout. Read or listen, but I would recommend a listen for this one. 10/10!

Thank you to Netgalley, Macmillan Audio, and the author for the free audiobook.

I DNF'd this book at 40%, I listened to it on audiobook and I think I would have liked it more if I had a physical copy. I loved the premise, it's something that usually engrosses me, but for some reason I couldn't in the audiobook format.

Thank you Amber Cortes Publicist -- Macmillan Audio for offering me (widget) the opportunity to audibly read and review Night Will Find You on NetGalley.

Narrator: Karissa Vacker

Stars: 2.5

Karissa Vacker's performance was exactly what I hope for with every audiobook I pickup. She kept me going when I wanted to quit.

The psychic portion of the story I found to be interesting. It wasn't cheesy, nor was it over the top. Heaberlin wrote this really well, working this element into a realistic mystery.

I have several problems: The first really irks me. This book is being developed into a television series and I spent too much time wondering how the negotiations went and did Heaberlin champion for the profanity? Did she insist that G-D be incorporated? The swearing was inexcusable and cheapened the story. Why G-D and not damn? There has to be a reason. It was not cultural or necessary at all.

Next, the mystery portion of the story moved well. However, the dating both sisters and marrying the second and not the one he loved trope is antiquated. And, extended the book unnecessarily. Again, Vacker scored the win. She kept me going.

Sadly 2.5 stars is generous. Heaberlin had a 4 star book and threw it away.

This one kept me on the edge of my seat and listening! If you like mystery/thriller/suspense this one is for you. Vivvy Bouchet (love that name) saved a boy when she was 10 years old and now he is a police detective and enlists her help. She is an astrophysicist and when she is roped into helping find a kidnapped young girl by the same man who she saved as a boy she reluctantly helps. When a podcaster gets wind she is helping, all bets are off and he spins all sorts of conspiracy theories. Hang on to your seats because this one is a great read/listen.
