Synopsis: A scientist with a special gift riles a wasp's nest of conspiracy theories while investigating a cold case in this riveting novel from the acclaimed and bestselling author of Black-Eyed Susans and We Are All the Same in the Dark.

When she was ten, Vivvy Bouchet saved a boy’s life by making an impossible prediction. Ever since, she has been in a life-long battle between the urgent voices in her head and the science she loves. Now a brilliant young astrophysicist, she wants nothing more than to be left alone with the stars in the Big Bend country of Texas.

But the boy she saved, now a Fort Worth cop, has always believed she is psychic—even though she won’t say that word out loud. He is begging her to help solve the high-profile cold case of a little girl who disappeared in broad daylight from the kitchen of her old Victorian house. A body was never found, and her mother sits in prison still loudly proclaiming her innocence. Vivvy reluctantly agrees to try.

When a popular Texas conspiracy theorist podcaster named Bubba Guns finds out about her involvement, he spews conspiracy theories about the case and muddled truths about Vivvy’s murky past. As his listeners spin dangerously out of control, and with her career and the people she loves on the line, Vivvy decides to fight back.

This sharply observed psychological thriller from the acclaimed, bestselling author Julia Heaberlin explores the insidious nature of conspiracy theories and our urge to believe them—especially when it comes to sensationalized cases.

My Thoughts: If you like plot twists and moments that make yourself ask questions, then this book is for you! I could not stop listening to this story once I started it. This is my first book by this author, but it will not be my last. I immediately ordered a couple of her others. The writing drew me in, and the narration was so demanding that it held my attention without yielding. I did feel like the pacing was a tad off and felt rushed at the end, and that is the only reason I gave it 4.5 stars round to 5 on rating scales. This is a must-read for any thriller reader and one of my favs this summer alone.

Thank you to MacmillanAudio and NetGalley for my ALC for my honest review.

3.5 🌟

The crime thriller started off amazingly exciting, and then it hit a few bumps along the way.

But, wow, I absolutely love Karissa Vackers' narration. (So much so that I want to check out more of her 300+ narrated projects!)

This was my first time listening to a novel by Julia Heaberlin, and I enjoyed the fast pacing and unique plot of a psychic astrophysicist brought in to help find a young girl who's gone missing and presumed dead.

This definitely gave me "Sixth Sense" movie vibes. I can see this being turned into a series of books where our psychic is the main character trying to solve cold cases.

Special thanks to Macmillan Audiobooks via the NetGalley app for the advanced listener copy of this book.

Have you ever picked a book based on the narrator? Let me assure you there are a few in the industry who are amazing, and Karissa Vacker is one of them! She narrates this psychological thriller about astrophysicist Vivvy Bouchet who, since childhood has had psychic episodes like her mother.

All Vivvy wants is to be left alone with the stars at home in Big Bend. Her brother-in-law, Max, who believes in her abilities as she saved him once, wants her help again. He’s a cop in Ft. Worth and he believes that Vivvy is just the right person to help solve a cold case about a missing girl, Lizzy Solomon, who disappeared in the middle of the day from her home more than a decade ago. Her body was never found and her mother, the only one without an alibi, sits in prison waiting for someone else to believe she’s innocent.

Vivvy reluctantly agrees to help leading her to work with Jesse Sharp, who believes she’s a bit of a quack. His intensity in general along with his animosity towards her abilities makes this a difficult working relationship. Throw in local extremist radio host Bubba Guns who has it out for Vivvy, this favor is turning into a literal headache that makes her want to throw in the towel more than once.

Full of twisty turns, this thriller keeps the readers on their toes until the end of the story. Julia Heaberlin shows us the good, the bad, and the ugly when it comes to human behavior. Night Will Find You is fast paced and hard to pause. Thank you to NetGalley, Macmillan Audio, and of course the author Julia Heaberlin for the advanced copy of the audiobook. All opinions are my own.

3.5 stars, rounded up
I always am thrown when making a choice between an author I like and a subject I dislike. I’ve enjoyed Julia Heaberlin’s other books, but I have a real dislike for books involving psychics. Here, reading Heaberlin’s latest book won out.
Vivvy Boucher has had a gift of clairvoyance since she was ten. That’s when she foresaw a blue horse hurting a young teen, and later saved him. Now, 18 years later, she’s an astrophysicist who’s returned to her hometown when her mother dies. The young teen, now a detective, has called on her to help with a cold case. But he’s not the lead detective. That would be Sharp, a man who believes none of the hype around Vivvy. Oh, and there’s a conspiracy theorist podcaster who has it in for her. To be honest, Bubba Gunns, the podcaster, was probably my favorite part of the story. At least he and his nut job followers came across as real. Sharp, on the other hand, was written to be so enigmatic that he felt flat. Vivvy was an interesting character, an astrophysicist who is also a psychic. Heaberlin uses her as a unique way of contrasting fact and unknown, science and mystical.
Some of the scenes were soap opera worthy. There were times I literally cringed. But I was still invested in this story and wanted to see how it all played out. There were lots of different threads to this story to be woven together - a tense relationship with Vivvy’s sister, whether Sharp can be trusted, the whole way conspiracy theories seem to hog the airways these days.
I found the ending satisfying and worth seeing the book through to the end.
I was not enthralled by Karissa Vacker’s narration. She has a kind of whispery feminine voice I’m not a fan of. And several of her male voices sounded the same.
My thanks to Netgalley and Macmillan Audio for an advance copy of this book.

Vivvy Bouchet is an astrophysicist with a special psychic gift. As a child, she made a prediction that saved a young boy's life. The boy she saved is now a cop who has called upon her to help solve the cold case of a girl who disappeared from her home. She has not been seen since nor has her body been found. Her mother has been imprisoned for the girl's disappearance but has never wavered in claiming she is innocent. While trying to help with the cold case, Vivvy has garnered the attention of Bubba Guns, a conspiracy theory podcaster.

I listened to the audiobook and enjoyed it. This proved to be an enjoyable yet at times slow-moving psychological thriller. I enjoyed the mystery paired with paranormal aspects. Vivvy was a likeable character who has a love of science, the night sky, and wrestles with her past and abilities.

This book was atmospheric and tense at times. I enjoyed the blending of what is known and can be proven vs. what could not be seen or proven (mainly Vivvy's abilities.) There are quite a few twists and turns in this book which kept me on my toes and invested in the plot. The characters are interesting (especially Vivvy) and fully fleshed out.

This is the second book that I have read by Julia Heaberlin, and I look forward to reading more of her books in the future.

Atmospheric, well written, nicely narrated, and enjoyable.

ARC audiobook provided in exchange for an honest review.

Wow! I really didn’t know what to expect and the complexity of this book just blew me away! The narration was perfect and I was surprised upon learning it was all done by the same woman! The story felt so relevant to the issues and world as a whole that most people experience everyday. I loved not having a clue as to where the story was headed and felt satisfied with the way it wrapped up. If you like suspense, mystery, and thrillers, be sure to check this out!

This was definitely an entertaining listen. A bit long winded. And I could have done without the podcaster. That whole storyline was a bit farfetched and unnecessary. It got a little messy.

Touché Bouchet … still makes me smile!

Vivvy Bouchet is an astrophysicist and a paranoid psychic. Hey! It’s only paranoia if it isn’t true. Her mom was also a psychic. Her relationship with her sister & her sister’s hubby is complicated. Very complicated.

Vivvy is back in town & she’s been asked to help in a strange case of a missing girl who’s mom is incarcerated for her murder. A body was never found & the mom is still professing her innocence.

Throw in another complicated relationship with Sharp, the hunky cop & the investigation takes on a whirlwind tempo.

Twists, turns, a fast paced good time. I love the bit of tech! Social media and podcasting get a cameo. A little bit police procedural, little bit murder mystery, a little bit suspense & all well played by a great MC!

Thank you NetGalley & Macmillan Audio, fantastic story! Great narration.

This was fantastic. Lots of wonder and things that keep your mind bending.
Great characters, and a story that will keep you coming back to see what is going to happen next.

Narration was well executed and this selection was the best choice for this character.

I received an audio copy from the Publisher for my honest review.
A great, suspenseful thriller, “Night Will Find You” is an intriguing story about one character trying to find everyone’s truth but her own……until the end.

The most epic epilogue EVER! Who am I kidding? The most epic ending to a story that I’ve read in a while.

My vanilla rating/warning: Lots a saucy talk, sexual encounters and a few “F” and “GD” bombs of which I absolutely loath.
And these are my reasons for only 4 stars.
Well, that along with the “mind” ADHD segments of the storyline, back and forth, back and forth, was brutally hard to keep up with.

So no, this is not an easy read. Move along if that’s what you’re needing at the moment. But, when you’re ready for more twists and turns than the tumble cycle of your dryer…….this is the book to read!

This book was unusual and unlike anything I’ve ever read. I enjoyed it much more than I thought I would for a mystery fiction pic. It encompasses a great story, compassion and complexity. The commentary is beautifully written and I will not forget this book any time soon!!!

This was an enjoyable mystery. I loved Vivvy’s character and her psychic abilities added some uniqueness to the typical missing girl plot. I liked the tension between Vivvy and Jesse and how the author brought up a lot to think about in regards to science and the things it can’t explain. There were twists and turns to keep me listening and I never got bored. If you haven’t read anything by this author, you really need to!

If you feel like you’ve heard this narrator before, you probably have! This was so well done that if you are lucky to listen, do so!

Vivvy Bouchet is the daughter of a psychic and has the gift herself, though she would rather be known for her discoveries in the field of astrophysics. When she is asked to look into a cold case regarding a disappeared child, will Vivvy be able to help bring a resolution? Will a conspiracy theorist podcaster derail the investigation?

The biggest issue that I had with the novel was the sheer number of side plots and complex storylines. Besides Vivvy, the cast of characters include her sister, her brother-in-law, Detective Jesse Sharp, the podcaster and his assistant, as well as the mother and father of the missing girl. Each person had a story to tell and it muddled up the plot. I liked the previous novel by this author, but Night Will Find You missed the mark for me. Narrator Karissa Vacker delivered a solid presentation of the novel as it was written, enough that I finished the audiobook when I would have given up on the printed version.

Overall, I would hesitate to recommend Night Will Find You, but I do look forward to reading more by this author.

I received a free ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This was a great, fast-paced and twisty read. The characters were well developed. The plot was well thought out and kept me guessing. Loved the aspect of a psychic and whether or not that is real. Once you start this book, you won’t want to put it down until it’s finished.

The narrator was great and did a great job with emoting and changing voices.

Really enjoyed the mystery and the characters but the plot moved a bit too slow. It gave Lessons in Chemistry vibes which I really enjoyed!

REVIEW
I will always read anything Julia Heaberlin writes! This is my second book of hers and her writing style is so beautiful, yet effective!

I loved the perspective this novel takes as it begs the question if science and spirituality can coexist.

The main character has dedicated her life to finding science based answers, however still struggles to grapple with the accurate answers she gets from some unexplainable spiritual downloads.

This book is balanced with maddening characters and those who are just lost along the way.

It is one that keeps you thinking even when the pages are closed. So although, the plot and pace were not perfect for me, I still got a lot out of it, and for that I am grateful.

So what do you think? Can science and spirituality mix? Not sure...then join the Vivvy Bouchet astrophysicist (and psychic?!) as she searches for answers for a missing girl and her unexplainable abilities.

"Is he on the side of angels or cuts their wings and lets them fall?"

There are so many duplicitous characters in the surprisingly creepy often hypnotic Night Will Find You by psychological thriller author Julia Heaberlin, that I got whiplash from changing my mind if they were guilty or innocent; which was twisty fun.

Vivvy is a psychic and an astrophysicist. Supernatural and science are opposite ambitions and she has tried to keep her psychic abilities hidden from the science community. At the age of 10 she saved a boy from death with her visions and became a media sensation. Like most in the media the masses soon turned on her and her family. Now as an adult she has reinvented herself through education and determination.

Then Mike, the boy she saved and has loved since childhood, now a cop, calls and begs for her help on a cold case involving Lizzie, a 3 year old girl who disappeared from her own kitchen. The mom is in jail for her murder, though there was no body, and she swears she's innocent.

As soon as Vivvy touches a bloody bow she knows Lizzie is still alive. But cop Jesse Sharp doubts her, scares her, intrigues her and, honestly, drove me crazy trying to figure him out.

There's a reason Karissa Vacker
Is an award winning narrator and she proves it with her unparalleled performances throughout this thriller. From the panic breathy Vivvy to the obnoxious screaming conspiracy theorist podcaster, ala Alex Jones, Karissa gives each character a distinctive voice.

I was a bit confused with Vivvy's visions but now realize that some were red herrings. Still, this story kept me up, alert, and curious til the very end and when the night comes that's all you can ask of a thriller.

I was pretty sure from the premise and how this book started, that this book was going to be a solid 4 star book for me. Unfortunately, the book kind of changed from the way it started. I wish it had stayed more with the psychic helping the police find a missing girl story and not veered off on other tangents. I still really enjoyed it and will read this author again. The narrator did a good job with this one.
