3.75 stars. For some reason, i don't know why i thought this was going to be a YA horror. I want to make everything clear. This is an adult novel.

I kind of went into this blind. And i enjoyed it. I didn't think it was going to have vampires in it. Because vampires aren't my thing when it comes to horror novels. I'm a haunt ed house girl all the way. This book jumps from present to past. It did confuse me the first it jump time frame, but once you get into the book, it goes smoothly. This book mostly centers around mia and her mother izzy who gets infected by her abusive boyfriend. So they go on the run for years. Nothing really happened for half the book it was a slow built-up. Thought it was lacking in a few areas

If you think you have a toxic relationship with your mom read this. It can also be a good example of life with drug addiction. I guess those can go together.
I don't normally do vampire lore, except to joke about another popular book/movie series.
Towards the end I was terrified but it builds up.
The narration was wonderful. I felt every word. The characters were relatable.
That ending though!
Do we get another one?

Title: Night’s Edge
Author: Liz Kerin

Synopsis: Having a mom like Izzy meant Mia had to grow up fast. No extracurriculars, no inviting friends over, and definitely no dating. The most important rule: Tell no one of Izzy’s hunger – the kind only blood can satisfy.

But Mia is in her twenties now and longs for a life of her own. One where she doesn’t have to worry about anyone discovering their terrible secret, or breathing down her neck. When Mia meets rebellious musician Jade she dares to hope she’s found a way to leave her home – and her mom – behind.

It just might be Mia’s only chance of getting out alive.

My thoughts: This was a completely immersive book that not only shows the reader that vampires are both good and bad, it explores the codependency between a mother and daughter. I loved it!

Thank you NetGalley and Tor Publishing Group for this audio ARC. What an absolute treat this was. I don't give out 5 ⭐️ that easily, so know that this is a big compliment.

This is marketed as fantasy/sci-fi, but this is definitely a horror novel. It is a very unique spin on a vampire tale, and I wanted more and more!

Add this to your summer TBR, now.
