In the second book in the series, Lexi Bennett finds the body of a teenage girl beneath a tower. While ruled a suicide, Lexi thinks foul play might be involved. When a second body of a teenager turns up, she must use her skills as an investigator to find the truth. Are the both suicides or is this murder?

I love Lexi! Her character is one of a strong female that won’t rest until she has answers. The book was well written and fast paced. The plot keeps you guessing and engaged from beginning to end! I can’t wait for the next one!

The second book in the Lexi Bennett series is even better than the first! This time Lexi responds to an unusual death request and finds a girl who jumped or fell from a very high tower. When more teenagers are found having committed suicide Lexi believes they are all related in some way. If someone is encouraging these young people to kill themselves then that is murder in her opinion and she asks for time to devote to the case.

This was a fast-paced thrilling police procedural. The same characters from book one are back again and we get to know them a little better. Lexi's character is already showing growth and I really like her. These books feel real and soon to be well-researched. I had a lot of fun with this one and look forward to the next in the series.

When 3 young kids in a matter of 3 days, dies by suicide, Lexie knows there’s more to this story. Capturing someone from the dark web that possibly has control of getting people to kill them selves, proves to be quite a challenge for Lexie. This was just ok for me. The storyline wasn’t my favorite but I like Lexie, & can’t wait to read more about her. My one gripe is: stop involving the detectives family in the investigations!!!

Belsham has done it again. I have no idea how a written review will do justice for this brilliant book.

Lexi Bennett is back and I’m so glad. I adored the previous book so had high hopes for this one. Belsham has delivered. This is deliciously dark and unpredictable.

Has Lexi come across a killer? This is a question key to the plot. Belsham writes in a way, as a reader you are transported. The picture is so clear you could be watching this play out ahead of you.

This is perfectly paced, I found myself unable to predict where this was going. I’ve been hooked from the very first page. Belsham is able to capture your attention and keep it for the duration.

This is a book I have devoured in one sitting. My pulse racing from the tension created in the pages. I’ve read all of this author’s books and Lexi is a favourite. I really hope there will be more books with her in.

This is a brilliant read and one that’s been impossible to put down. A definite recommendation for me.

The Lexi Bennett series is really hard-hitting. I read the last 25% with my heart in my mouth! It really was a rollercoaster of a read.

Lexi has trained as a profiler with the FBI and us back on home turf of Kent to put her skills to use. I wasn't convinced there could be a book featuring Lexi as gripping as Book 1, but this second book has nailed it!

I'm devastated there are no more to read, I could easily devour another 10!!

I could not out this down!! The plot was so original and well paced. I absolutely loved the premise and the characters. The protagonist was unique and well written. She's not clichéd and the typical woman police officer. This is so much more than a police procedural or a thriller. Definitely one of the best police procedural types I've read this year. Absolutely can not wait for the next installment and to see what happens next with these characters

This is book #2 in the Detective Lexi Bennett series. It’s my first read by this author and I enjoyed the book. It was a difficult read due to subject matter though☹️. I do look forward to catching up with book 1 and seeing what happens next!

Detective Lexi Bennett happens upon a crime scene while out in Canterbury. A teenage girl named Olivia has jumped from one of the ancient city towers. Lexi has to determine if she committed suicide or if this is a murder investigation.

Olivia was a talented musician and her parents can’t understand why she would have jumped. Sam, Lexi’s nephew, was a friend of Olivia. He’s having a hard time coping with her death.

Lexi soon receives a call that another teen has been found dead of apparent suicide. The boy was also a musician and his note reads very similar to Olivia’s. What’s going on here?

As she investigates further, Lexi and her team discover that the victims were both on the dark web and belonged to a suicide group. Is there a killer out there manipulating teens into killing themselves? It’s a race to discover the identity of the next victim before it’s too late to save them.

Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

Having recently read the first book in this series I jumped at the chance when netgalley offered me the second book in exchange for an honest review! I enjoyed the first book and was wishing for the second as soon as I had finished it. This was just as good, if not better, and has become one of my favourite series. The investigation team dynamics work well and the characters are believable. The plot has enough twists that you keep reading to find out what happens next. It could be read as a standalone book, but I'd recommend reading both, but that's only my opinion. I'm actually sad I finished it so fast as now I have to wait for book 3!!

Definitely recommend. 5* I'll be sorry to not have it to read tonight, but couldn't put the book down! I was fully immersed in this from the start… does contain triggers.

Alison Belsham is my new favorite author in the Detective Lexi Bennett series. As advertised, The Girl's Last Cry is a gripping and addictive serial killer thriller.

Detective Lexi Bennett is walking through the quiet Canterbury streets when she hears screaming. Rushing toward the sound, she finds the body of a teenage girl lying beneath one of the city’s ancient towers. Lexi vows that she will find answers. Did the girl jump or fall… or was she pushed? Then another teenager is found dead. Lexi races to find proof to back up her hunch and to understand what lies behind these evil attacks on vulnerable children.

Lexi is a great character that is likable and believable in her actions. The story is fast-paced, with enough twists and red herrings to keep me turning the pages.

The Girl's Last Cry is an intriguing police procedural with strong characters, a plot that makes sense, and a plot with suspense and tension.

And there is going to be a third book—yes!! Five out of 5 stars for me.

Warring : for suicide .
story moves quickly, and the characters are believable, and the author use of cyberbullying in the story makes it also much more believable. Plus it kept me guessing throughout the book.

I’d like to thank netgalley and the publisher for an advance copy in exchange for an honest review. I recently read the first book in this series only a few weeks ago and enjoyed it so I was excited to dive into this. This time we follow Lexi as she tries to find out why multiple teenagers are committing suicide with similar notes left to loved ones. Are they getting “help”, and if so why and who? Another fast paced story, can’t wait for the next one.

Detective Lexi Bennett again finds herself at the scene of a crime. Although, it is not classed as a crime at first, but a suicide.
She has suspicions that it was foul play, and is soon proved right when another young person dies.

The youngsters have the same passions, and their suicide notes are too similar, it cannot be a coincidence.

Lexi follows her hunches, and has many suspects which she crosses off the list one by one.

Another absolutely thrilling police procedural from Alison Belsham.
The story was fast paced and flowed beautifully. The team work well together, each with their own personalities.

The actual killer was introduced very late into the book, so all of my own suspicions were wrong. The reader is kept guessing until the end.

I love a police procedural with a strong female lead, so this book is right up my street.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
