A slow burner which took me a bit to get into. Many twists and turns to keep me guessing. Would definitely read her next novel. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the chance to review it.

This is my first book by this author and it was so good. I read it in a day - I couldn’t put it down👏🏻.

Black Valley Farm is famous because nine people were found murdered there over a decade ago. The killer has not been caught and the police are still searching for a woman named Lydia who they suspect may know something.

Nuola covered the story in a true crime podcast and it made her famous. She’s struggled to find work lately but is excited when a new opportunity presents itself. When a stranger reaches out to her about her podcast and confronts her in a lie, she is determined to set it right.

Clare knows all too well what it was like at the farm. After all, she escaped it. Forced to hide her identity, she has tried to keep out of the spotlight. A chance encounter will change all of that and could put a target on her back.

The past and present will collide and the truth will finally come out. But who was responsible for the murders? Is the killer still out there?

Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

Clare Brown is trying to live life under the radar. She has no family since her parents both died in a car accident when she was young, and was an only child. Her whole life changes when she saves a young boy from being hit by a bus, and it’s caught on video. Clare is hiding something, and doesn’t want anyone to know, but since the video was put online she has come to someone’s attention, and they are threatening to expose her secret. Who really is Clare Brown? Nuala is an award winning journalist having won an award for her crime podcast about Black Valley Farm, and the story behind the mysterious fire that killed nine people leaving two missing. She’s also hiding something, and when she receives a message threatening to expose her lie, she panics, this could ruin everything, including the new job she has just secured with budding politician Andrea. Being a huge fan of the podcast, she has asked Nuala to head up the creation of her campaign videos. But why Nuala, and why is she so interested in the podcast? Two women, two huge lies, both afraid of being exposed, but what is their connection?

I was really looking forward to reading this book, the cover is what drew me in and the synopsis was good. I really enjoyed the storyline, it was fantastic! There are so many strands leading from Clare, and I just wanted to keep reading to find out what was going to happen next! I thought the plot was excellent, and there are a couple of twists in the story that you don’t expect which I felt added flavour to the tale as it was played out.

Excellent book Sheila, I really enjoyed thank you for letting me pre read it in return for my review! 5 ⭐️

This started out slow, and I nearly put it down, but I'm so glad I didn't. It gets so juicy! Twists amp up the suspense, and the mystery deepens. It's an emotional roller coaster in which villains and heroes swap places.

This was completely mesmerising. I was hooked from the first page. The farm is the creepiest place and you find yourself cheering on a potential killer.
You will think you have this figured out but it gets real twisty.
This is just fantastic. I hope everyone reads this,

Thank You to the publisher and NetGalley for an ARC of this. It's a delightful blend of cult vibes, and a woman on the run. Woven through brilliantly with a podcast. Great book to curl up with on a rainy afternoon.

Clare Brown is on the run. She escaped from Black Valley Farm after a devastating fire killed the people living there. She never stops looking over her shoulder.
A podcast reveals the murders that took place on the farm, and Clare feels responsible and guilty for escaping the horrors that took place there.

But someone is after her, and they don't want her to reveal the truth.

A gripping and intriguing novel that keeps you turning the pages. You can feel the darkness of some of the evil characters in the book, and the desperation of the young woman that only wants peace.

Well written and suspenseful. I enjoyed this book very much

Thank you NetGalley and Canelo for my approval to read and review this book.

This is my first book by Sheila Bugler and it won't be the last. The story is well written with plenty of plot twists and turns to keep you from guessing the ending!! The descriptions of the characters and locations are well written. I will be recommending this book to my fellow readers.

I find these types of covers intriguing and interesting, and I feel they set the stage for the storyline.

A decade ago, the bodies of nine people were discovered at Black Valley Farm. The only suspect vanished without a trace, and the truth could ruin everything. Clare has spent ten years living a lie, but a new podcast on the murders threatens to bring her carefully built life crashing down because someone else has listened too. Someone who knows Clare is lying and who will stop at nothing to ensure the truth never comes to light.

Black Valley Farm by Sheila Bugler is a fascinating read, and the plot kept me turning the pages well into the night. I thought I figured it out, but the author weaved in some good twists that proved me wrong!

I will read more by this author. I rate this a 4.5 out of 5 stars (rounded to 5).

I LOVE a good thriller that steers away from what most thrillers tend to be about these days. A fresh new take on a thrill! I couldn’t out this one down and highly recommend it!

I am a huge fan of Sheila Bugler's writing, so was really looking forward to Black Valley Farm. I wasn't disappointed. Wow! What a great book. I loved every moment of it. Just when I thought I had it all figured out (yet again) there was another twist. Strong plot and characters with everything nicely tied up at the end to bring it to a satisfying conclusion.

I enjoyed this. For me it was one of those books that frustratingly gives out information just a bit at a time... leaving me just wanting more. So the pages kept turning.
The whole farm situation feels a bit too Gilead really, but it's fits so perfectly in the overall story I'm not complaining.
I enjoyed the way the narrative switched, and I was constantly guessing the who's and whys.
Occasional "soap opera" moments , but overall an entertaining read.
